Chapter Four:

Th group talked for a bit until they decided we should all go to bed. But before we went upstairs, the ones we didn't know told us their names. There was Eugene, the guy with the mullet. Rosita, who was Latina. Sasha who was the girl with the poofy braided hair.

Thalia, Jason that was holding Milia and Carl and I went upstairs getting ready to go to sleep. When we entered Carl's room, it had one bed, three sleeping bags, and one make shift bed out of blankets and pillows.

"Well, this isn't much but- " Carl said but midway sentence Thalia said, "This is plenty for us compared to where we have slept for the past however long."

"Okay. Well, night then. I'm gonna go get dressed into my pajama's." Carl said as he grabbed clothes from the dresser near the window and left probably to the bathroom.

"How do you feel about this place? Do you think it will last long?" Jason asked as he put down Milia and made sure she was covered.

"I honestly don't know, Jason." Thalia said unsure. That's the first in a while I have heard her like that and I don't like how that felt.

"I hope this lasts, at least for Milia. She needs somewhere sustainable and people to talk to so she can grow up right in the head or hopefully okay." Jason said.

"Yeah, we all need a good place though, if we are out there for too long we might lose each other. Even ourselves depending on the hardships we go through really. We should try to sleep." I said ending the conversation.

Thalia moved to the sleeping bag near the window, Jason moved to the other sleeping bag a few feet behind Thalia. That the last sleeping bag for myself and the make shift for Milia. I just put Milia down onto the make shift bed when Carl walked back in the room with his old clothes in a ball, in his hands.

"Hey, Milia should have the bed. Probably more comfortable than the ground." He said as he put his old clothes in a pile in the corner.

"You don't need to let her have the bed Carl. She's already asleep." I said back.

"No, I'm not. The thing I'm lying on takes a while to get used to." Milia says sitting up, whining.

"So, then Milia, would you like to sleep in a real bed for the first time in forever?" He asked her in a nice way.

"Long, long time!" She said almost jumping up and down in her place.

"Well, now you can sleep in a real one right now." Carl said nicely.

She didn't even answer before she ran to the bed, jumped up onto it and got snuggled in. I'm not really surprised though. I walked over to her and made sure she was already to go to sleep. Within five minutes she was fast asleep.

"Thanks Carl, I bet she really appreciates you letting her have the bed." I said as I turned around to look at him.

"No problem. I remember when I got to sleep on a real bed after a while. But, you're probably tired so we should go to sleep." He said trailing off, going to Milia's old make shift bed and lying down.

"Ok, yeah." I said as I walked to the other sleeping bag next to Carl. "Goodnight. See you in the mornin'."

"Hmm..." He said before he dozed off into sleep. But little did I know he didn't go to sleep for quite sometime.

Before I went to sleep, I decided to do another journal entry.

Entry #18

We found a place called Alexandria, it seems to be stable. But it might not last, nothing does these days anyway. In Alexandria, I found Carl and his dad's group. We are currently living in a house with people that have been through so much together that they have become a family, despite their differences. I hope that we can at least make a living here for a little bit... Who knows. But at least for now Jason, Thalia, Milia, and I have a place to stay and hopefully people to rely on. Till next time Journal, Goodbye!

After I finished the journal entry, I put it back in my back in my bag and drifted off into a hopefully peaceful sleep. But when they life's a bitch, they literally mean it.

Thalia and Jason were having a fight about who gets the last Kit Kat bar and whoever wins the staring contest, gets the candy. Milia was playing Patty Cake and other hand games with the wall while I'll just watched all of them laughing.

But then I heard a noise, no noises. Like people were talking, most likely men with the deepness of their talking. I walked over to the middle of the room where the rest are and told them.

In the dream, I couldn't hear any noises. No talking. I'm just remembering what happened, the laughing and all of it seems like it never happened but it did because we all remember what they did to us.

After I warned them, we tried to gather as much stuff we could get before they would enter the house. But before we could leave, the men entered the house. We were so close to exiting the house, just a few feet to the back door but then him and his men entered through the front door and took over the place.

Their groups main man, or leader, was named Peter. He was a diabolical person. His men aren't good but they weren't as bad as Peter.

Back then, none of us knew how to deal with guns or protecting ourselves to the point of full survival. They took all of us and tied us up in what used to be our mom's bedroom. They had Jason tied to a chair, Thalia and I to these cabinets my mom used to store stuff in. They tied Milia up to a furnace on the opposite side of the room, alone. Poor Milia was balling her eyes out, calling out for someone to let her go but they tied a wrap around her mouth, preventing the yelling.

Him and his men then slowly walked over to Thalia, loosening her and pulling her up, dragging her to Jason's old bedroom. The men ignoring her pleas to stop.

I remember this happening anytime they want to, almost like a routine of choosing. But soon, they got tired of her and chose their next victim, me.

I woke up to someone shaking me, calling out, "Wake up, wake up (y/n/n)!"

I sat up fast almost knocking heads with whoever woke me up. I realized soon after my eyes focused and got used to the dark. It was Milia.

"(Y/n), what's wrong?" Milia asked sweetly, "You were turning a lot and crying a little bit."

"Uh, oh. It was just a bad dream. Sorry to worry you, just go back to sleep." I said as I wiped the remaining tears on my cheeks and under my eyes.

"Okay, goodnight (y/n/n)." Milia said as she went back onto the bed and fell asleep in seconds again.

"Goodnight." I softly mumble as I try to sleep with a dreamless night but that never happens. My whole night consisted of the same dream and a couple of different unwanted dreams of dead ones and bittersweet memories that will only affect my day tomorrow.

~

I woke up to the noise of Thalia and Jason telling jokes and laughing endlessly. It is really great to hear them laugh, we usually never did because the dead ones would hear us and that would almost likely end in terror.

"You know there is such a thing called sleep, right?" I said in an annoyed voice. I mean they woke me up but it ended the nightmares so.

"Oh, really? Well, you hear something new every day don't you." Thalia said right back, returning the voice.

I got up and heard a pop sound, "Damn, you must be getting old (y/n). Your bones are already sounding old!" Jason said after Thalia told a pick-up line.

"Ha ha ha." I sarcastically said. Then I just walked over the semi-circle in the corner of the room right near Thalia's sleeping bag.

"Oh, just in time (y/n). I got my last joke for the mornin'. Okay, why isn't there a pregnant Barbie doll?" Thalia said smirking. Everyone just shook their heads, waiting for the answer. But before she could answer, Carl came into the room and said,

"Because Ken came in another a box." He finished and walked over to his bed and sat on his mattress while laying down half way.

Everyone was laughing but Thalia, who looked pissed for Carl stealing her 'thunder'.

"No fair. That was my joke!" Thalia said pouting like Milia does.

"Oh relax, Thalia. You're acting like a baby," Before I finished I smirked, "Plus my joke is way better."

"Suuurrre." She said not believing me.

"You wanna hear it? Why is s- " I got interrupted when Glenn walked in laughing.

"Why are you laughing?" Jason asked towards the red faced Korean.

"The jokes are too funny! How do... you know... them?" He tried saying in between laughs.

"Well, before the damn apocalypse, we had a... special imagination!" Thalia said which got laughs from Carl and I when Jason just sat there with Milia who looked confused.

"Nice choice of words there, lil girly." Abraham said as he walked out the bathroom and to the doorway.

But before anyone else could say something, Daryl called up to us.

"Hey, all of y'all get your asses down 'ere."

I got up from the floor and turned around to help Carl up, as he just sat there lazily.

"Come on, Carl. Let's go downstairs."

"But I don't have to." He said groaning back.

"Just get your ass downstairs, Carl." I said as I finally pulled up the brown-haired boy.

"Fine, fine." He said as finally agreed.

Everyone else was already up and walking out the door but Milia and Carl waited for me. Thalia jumped up onto my back and said, "Go horsie!" We were just about to leave the room when Carl snickered.

"Looks like someone is a horsie?" He said curiously.

"Sadly yes, that is my nickname from her. Well soon enough she'll be calling you horsie," I said towards him, "And riding you." I finished smirking. And I never thought he would have said something else but I was wrong.

"She won't be the only one riding me." He said with a straight face.

"Fuck you, Carl." And before he could say anything else, I ran downstairs to the living room but stopped midway.

"Where did you get that from anyways?" I was curious , he didn't seem like that 'type.'

"Read it in a book." He shrugged and went downstairs .

' I wonder what books he reads...' I

'Why was Carl acting like we have known each other for a long time? Joking with me like that, huh.'

~

Inside the living room, Abraham, Glenn, and others were all laughing at something. Except for Rick and Daryl though.

"What are you guys laughing at?" I said confused.

No one spoke, but instead, Michonne just pointed up to vent in the ceiling and I got it. They heard our conversation, oh god.

"Well, (y/n) you said you had a joke but you didn't finish it. So tell us!" Maggie said looking at me.

"Oh! I'll tell it. She told me like a year ago." Thalia clearly wanted laughs unlike from before when Carl said the answer instead .

"Are you ready?"  They all nodded their heads towards Thaila, oh well. "Why is Santa's sack so big?" No one answered again. "Because he only comes once a year and its down your chimney." Thalia said as mostly everyone grinned a little bit. Then it died down when they remembered that we were still new and unknown to them.

After that, I walked out the house, going to find someplace to deal with the dreams. Too bad the fun with jokes didn't last long..
