Pretty soon, the light from Marinette fades away, and she passes out, but Nathaniel catches her in time.
NATHANIEL: Alya, are you all right?
ALYA: (Groans) I'll be fine. What about Marinette?
NATHANIEL: She exhausted, but she'll live. (Performs a protection spell) Come on. We have to leave before someone else comes looking for her.
Before leaving, Alya and Nathaniel perform exorcising spells around the area to mask Marinette's scent.
A few minutes later...
(Urie, Mage, and Shiki appear)
URIE: (smells Marinette's scent) That's a shock. Marinette was the grimoire all along. To think we actually believed it was some kind of totem.
MAGE: Meaning that Berlin stuff was a big fat lie. Man, Adrien's going to get it when I find him.
URIE: I'm positive he knew the truth, but what was he trying to protect?
SHIKI: (smells the area) Dang it. No matter how hard I try, I can't seem to pick up her scent.
URIE: Of course. It'd appear that the butterfly was taken by her knight, and best friend.
MAGE: Let's go.
(Urie, Mage, and Shiki disappear)
ADRIEN: (Adrien appears and looks around the area. Pulls out something from his pocket) what is it? Why do I feel this way?
Nathaniel and Alya take Marinette to the Exorcist Association in Berlin for protection. While Alya was being tended to her wounds and watched over Marinette, Nathaniel went to the exorcists and explained everything to them, but he left out the part about Alya being a vampire.
LEADER OF THE EXORCISTS: That all must have been difficult for you, Nathaniel. However, you and your friend, Alya, have nothing left to worry about. Bring Marinette to here was a wise choice. You, Alya, and Marinette are safe here in the Exorcist Association.
NATHANIEL: Thank you. If you'll excuse me, I need to go and check on them.
LEADER OF THE EXORCISTS: Of course. You're free to go now.
Nathaniel made his way to a 2-bed room where Marinette and Alya were staying in.
MARINETTE: (wakes up) Devils! They're here!
NATHANIEL: Calm down. You're safe
MARINETTE: Nathaniel. Where's Alya? Where are we?
NATHANIEL: Alya's resting. We're somewhere safe. We'll be staying here until you turn 18.
ALYA: (wakes up) hey, guys. How long was I out?
NATHANIEL: For about half an hour. We'll be safe here. You and Marinette should get some rest after what happened tonight.
MARINETTE: OK. (Falls asleep)
NATHANIEL: Don't worry. Everything will be all right in the end. (Kisses the top of Marinette's head before leaving)
The Fernsehturm
(Mage appears and finds Urie and Shiki on the tower)
MAGE: What are you slackers up to?
URIE: If you must know, we were planning to do some butterfly catching. But alas, it appears that the butterfly has been caged.
(Mage looks over to see the Exorcist Association building)
MAGE: Not those guys.
URIE: I think that particular cage isn't the best place for the butterfly and her friends to be.
As Nathaniel was walking back to check on Alya and Marinette, he sees Alya running his way.
NATHANIEL: Alya, what's wrong?
ALYA: It's Marinette. She's not in the room.
The main room
LEADER OF THE EXORCISTS: I apologize for summoning you at this hour.
MARINETTE: So, um, why am I here?
LEADER OF THE EXORCISTS: Ms. Marinette Dupain-Cheng, I'm afraid that you've fallen in too deeply with the agents of darkness. We think it'd be best if we to perform a ceremony to cleanse your impurity.
MARINETTE: Wait. Where are my friends?
LEADER OF THE EXORCISTS: Alya is still resting from her injuries, and Nathaniel won't be able be here at the moment. I'm afraid your company would have an adverse influence on his being. Please, let us continue the ceremony.
Marinette sits down in a chair while the fellow exorcists chant the prayers. As the ceremony continues, Marinette sees an exorcist carry a tray with items that could damage or even kill her, and another exorcist is carrying chains.
MARINETTE: Hey, what's this?
(An exorcist tries to tie Marinette back to the chair, but she resists and tries to break free)
MARINETTE: Stop it!! Let go!!!
(Nathaniel and Alya barge in)
NATHANIEL: Marinette!!
(Marinette breaks free and runs to her friends)
MARINETTE: Nathaniel, Alya!! (Hugs Nathaniel in fear)
NATHANIEL: What are you doing?
EXORCIST 1: Nathaniel, we must protect this world. In order to do so, we must destroy the grimoire and its source of power.
ALYA: The solution isn't murder. It's hypocritical!!
LEADER OF THE EXORCISTS: We must take our vows seriously if we're to protect our realm, Alya. We are all guided by the sacred light, and bow down to its divine will to save this world.
NATHANIEL: You're not going anywhere near her.
EXORCIST 2: It's not surprising. Why would we care for what a half-human like you would say, Nathaniel?
MARINETTE AND ALYA (confused): Huh?
EXORCIST 3: Uh-oh. He must've forgotten to mention that. Feeling confused, girls? Allow me to clarify things. Your friend isn't a normal person. He's born from a human and devil.
MARINETTE: Na-Nathaniel...is that true?
LEADER OF THE EXORCISTS: Give us the grimoire. It's a sacred duty to protect this world, Nathaniel.
NATHANIEL: You're not going anywhere near her! (Knocks over a bunch of candlesticks and uses his magic to create a fire)
(Alya grabs Marinette and they begin to run)
Outside the building
MARINETTE: Nathaniel....
NATHANIEL: Don't talk! Just run!!
(A group of exorcists run after them)
EXORCIST 4: If they escape, humanity will be doomed!
EXORCIST 5: Reduce the grimoire to ashes! We must kill the girl!!
MAGE: You want to kill Marinette? That doesn't seem very sanely of you.
(The exorcists look up to see Mage, Urie, and Shiki floating above them)
MAGE: I'd never let you scumbags touch her. Wouldn't want your filth to rub off on my girl.
URIE: Are you delusional? Sorry to burst your bubble, but she's mine.
SHIKI: Would you quit arguing? Honestly, you're acting like a couple of sore losers.
URIE AND MAGE: Nobody asked for you opinion.
EXORCIST 6: There vampires! DESTROY THEM!!
SHIKI: I can't believe those poor fools think they actually stand a chance against us.
URIE: That's rather presumptuous of them. They need an etiquette lesson.
MAGE: Agreed. Let's teach them some manners.
