Harry's POV

"Mum, my bowtie is fine." I said, wafting her hand away from my neck for the tenth time.

"You just look so cute." She gushed.

"I'm almost 17, please stop." I sighed. I really wasn't looking forward to tonight. I just have to arrive with her and then I can ditch her, but what if someone sees me with her? I leaned back in my seat and groaned.

"Here we are." My dad announced as well pulled up in front of their house.

"Joy." I muttered.

"Come on." My mum said dragging me out of the car. I smiled at Delilah's dad as we walked in, no sight of her or her mum yet.

"Delilah, wait." I heard her mum call to her. "Lipstick!" She shouted. I didn't manage to get a glimpse of her before she was lead back into a room. I just wanted to get tonight over with, stop stalling I thought. "Okay, go. No, wait. I need to go down first." Her mum said while pouncing down the stairs. "Eeeee" Her mum squealed. What was the big fuss, she's just wearing a dress, big deal. "Okay, you can come down now." I was half expecting her to wear a black floor length dress with massive eyeliner, I was not expecting to see her in a bright red dress with matching lipstick and elegant make-up. I couldn't believe I was thinking it but she looked good, not only good she looked great. I hadn't noticed I was gawking until my mum slapped my mouth shut.

"Don't dribble son." She said. I just glared at her, thanks for embarrassing me, I thought. However I still couldn't take my eyes of her.

Delilah's POV

I have never felt so awkward in my life; they were just staring, not saying anything.

"Nothing says bitch I've arrived like a bright red dress." I joked breaking the silence. I narrowed my eyes at Harry, nothing.

"You look beautiful Hunny." His mum spoke.

"Picture time." My mum announced.

"What? No." I said stubbornly.

"We need a picture of the cute couple."

"We're not a couple." I replied, no help from Harry in this argument, he hadn't opened his mouth since he got here, did a cat have his tongue?

"Don't be silly, now stand against that wall. You to Harry." She said ushering us towards the wall with the marble background. We both stood a few feet apart like each other had cooties. "A bit closer." My mum said pulling the camera down from her face. We scooted a couple inches closer to each other and repeated it when she complained again. We were still nowhere near each other.

"Come here, let me position you." His mum said walking towards us.

"How close do you want us?" Harry asked as he was forced into my side.

"Now turn and face each other." She said ignoring her son's question. We reluctantly faced each other with a little more guidance from her. "Actually, Delilah turn around so your back is to him." She said spinning me around. I grinned thinking I wouldn't have to see his face. "Now Harry wrap your arms around Delilah."

"What?!" We both shouted. She ignored our comments and grabbed Harry's arms and slung the around my middle.

"Now Delilah, hold onto his hands." She said, forcing me to hold onto without giving me a choice.

"This is torture." I whispered so only Harry could hear.

"For me, I know." He said cockily. I stabbed my heel into his foot and listened to him yelp in pain which only caused me to grin more.

"Face the camera and smile."

"Thank goodness that's over." I said as we stepped into the hired car where the driver was waiting for us.

"At least we can agree on one thing." Harry said taking a seat next to me. I checked my phone and still nothing. "Expecting a call?" Harry asked sincerely. I just sighed in response, I didn't want to explain anything, and he's a boy he wouldn't understand. "Boyfriend trouble?" He asked.

"Not quite." I replied honestly.

"That boy you skipped class with?" He questioned. I just looked at him and sighed. "Thought so." He said grinning.

"Anyway," I said changing the conversation. "Why didn't you bring one of those Barbie's that follow you around?" I asked.

"I do have standards." He said making me laugh which caused him to actually smile, not a smirk but a smile.

"You're here with me." I said referring back to his standards.

"One; I didn't have a choice and two; you dress up good." He said looking into my eyes. I could feel my cheeks heating up.

"You don't scrub up to bad yourself." I said.

"Did we just complement each other?"

"Yeah, weird huh?" I responded.

"Yeah...weird." He said faintly.

"I don't expect you to pay any attention to me tonight, I didn't even want to go, I don't want to get noticed-"

"People will only ask questions, yeah I know, I feel the same." He said honestly finishing my sentence. "Can I ask you something?" He asked fidgeting with his fingers.

"Can we be civil, for the night?" He asked.

"Sure, I guess I can manage that." I replied grinning.

"Here we are." The driver said turning around to look at us. The school was decorated with blue lights and you could hear the music from inside the car. I felt my stomach tighten and my head felt a lot lighter than normal. I can't believe I was nervous, if anyone said anything I would just back them down with a witty comment like I always do.

"M'lady." Harry joked as he helped me get out of the car. I can't believe he was actually being nice, I didn't think this side of him existed, although he probably thinks the same about me.

"Thanks." I said grabbing his hand. The parking lot was empty.

"You ready?" He asked me as we walked across the yard.

"Yep." I said, not confidently. We both stood staring at the double wooden doors as if they were going to magically open.

"We should probably go in?" He said, unsure himself.

"Yeah." I replied.

"Do you think anyone will notice us?" He asked sounding worried.

"No, of course not, they'll all be dancing." I said, trying to reassure him, however I wasn't so sure myself.

"Yeah, you're probably right." He said and placed his hand on the door.

"After 3?" I said, reaching for the other door.

"1...2...3." He said as we pushed the doors open.

The music was blasting throughout the large hall filled with almost everyone in our year. Why aren't they dancing? I sighed. No-one was dancing, everyone was stood around watching everyone else's moves. This is not what they do in movies, in movies everyone is dancing around and no-one makes big entrances unless it's intended, which this wasn't. Me and Harry both walked in slowly and awkwardly, I felt like I was in the big brother house with all the eyes on me. I could hear the whispers, I could see the stares and I could sense the hate and confusion.

"Did they come together?"

"What is he doing with her?"

"What is she wearing?"

"Why is she even here?"

"Her extensions look tacky." Were just a few of the conversations and snide comments floating around the room. I looked down and straightened out my dress, this was the first time I ever felt anxious about the way I looked. I didn't really know where to go or where to look. I could tell Harry felt awkward too but was soon ushered over by his friends.

"Harry!" Niall called out to him, signalling him to go over. Which he did, eyes still on him. I knew his friends were going to interrogate him. I subtly walked over to the drinks table, I could feel dagger eyes being pierced into my skin. Can this night be over already?
