The constantly being awake.
The dark bags under his eyes.
The hours of laying down in bed, unable to sleep.
And when he did sleep,
There were the nightmares.
The screams of his family.
The cries of his brother.
The yells of his mother.
The shouts of his father.
They were even worse than staying awake.
He couldn't take it anymore.
He didn't want to face the nightmares.
Or the weeks without sleep.
He took out the razor and dragged it slowly across his wrists,
At least now he could sleep.
