Harry's POV
I stood silently leant up against the door frame with a red cup filled to the brim with alcohol, just watching her. The alcohol remained in the cup as I watched her, not even sensing my presence. As much as I wanted to watch her jump and stutter on her words when I confront her, something stopped me. I was intrigued into what she was doing. She didn't even look as if she had come to a party, wearing her usual skinny jeans but lacking her usual band shirt. Her hair was still the same old, without her knowing I've always wondered how long her hair is, is it wavy or straight?
I watched, still remaining completely silent as I watched her rummage through my draws, I don't know what she was hoping to find but there isn't anything interesting in my draws. My gaze remained fixed on her as she opened the bottom draw and pulled out a photo, I saw her scrunch her face up at it, she was either disgusted or confused, I couldn't tell. I had done enough staring; it was time to make my presence known.
"Looking for something?" I said, raising my eyebrows. I walked into my room and closed the door with my foot. I watched her turn around with the look of shock on her face; she quickly hid whatever she was looking at her behind her back.
"N-n-no, not really." She stuttered, I couldn't help laugh which only caused her to send me those oh so familiar dagger eyes I was used to.
"You know you'll start scaring people off if you caring on doing that?" I asked rhetorically, gradually getting closer to her.
"I don't care." She stated, while taking a step back for every step I took towards her.
"You don't care about a lot of things do you?" I asked, raising my eyebrows once again. I think this is the most we have ever said to each other in the 5 years of going to the same school.
"I care about the things that I need to care about." She merely stated.
"So, what are you doing in my room, you do know this is my room right?" I asked, still walking towards her.
"Yeah." She said rolling her eyes, she was obviously running out of things to say, this was getting fun.
"So what are you doing in here?" I said. She had reached the wall and the limit to how far she could step back, I proceeded to step forward as I watched her try and figure her next move. "And don't say looking for the bathroom, because you aren't going to find a bathroom in my draws or under my bed." I said, raising my eyebrows again.
"How long were you watching me?" She said, trying to turn the question.
"Long enough to know you were looking for something." I said, chuckling almost evilly at the end.
"I wasn't looking for anything." She said, straight faced. She could be lying but something inside told me to believe her.
"Hmmm." I thought out loud. "So what were you doing? Being nosey?" I said, taking the last step towards her, she was pinned up against the wall and we were only a small breath away from each other.
"Uh." She stuttered whilst scratching her head as if she was nervous. I tried to look straight into her eyes but she wouldn't let me, she would avoid my eyes at any cost, it was actually frustrating me. I wanted to pull her face to face me, but something stopped me.
"Tell me what you were doing, and I'll let you go." I whispered slyly into her ear trying to negotiate. I pulled back to see her face glaring at me. Who knows what goes through her mind but she always seems so angry, she's hiding something.
"Fine." She stated, turning her head and gaze away from me.
"Can't look me in the eyes? Preparing for another lie?" I questioned trying to get her to face me. It worked, her head slowly spun and her eyes landed upon mine. I hadn't noticed before but she had the most crystal clear blue eyes I've ever seen. I could have got lost in them if she hadn't started speaking.
"I was looking for something to use against you." She said, barely gripping her teeth.
"Like what? I asked intrigued.
"Does it really matter?" She said, eyeing the door.
"Yeah, are you trying to frame me? Embarrass me?" I asked, reducing the space between us.
"I want to get you back, and I still will." She said, almost proud of yourself. I could see her eyeing the door still, she was about to make a run for it but I raised my arms, surrounding her and pinning her further against the wall. My left arm reached behind her back and grabbed whatever she was holding. My right arm remained on the wall whilst my left hand held the photo in front of my face.
"A baby photo, how is that going to get me back?" I said smirking, and shoving the photo into my back pocket of my skinny jeans.
"It's not what I wanted." She said, trying to wriggle around me but she wasn't getting very far.
"What did you want? Some inside scoop?" I said still smirking.
"I wanted something that would bring you and your oversized ego to the ground." She snarled, now that was the truth I had been looking for all along. I laughed in response.
"Oversized ego?" I asked rhetorically. "That's rich coming from you." I replied looking straight into her eyes, determined not to get distracted by them.
"Don't turn this around and make it about me." She said, her temper was starting to show.
"Sorry, who was the one snooping around my room?" I joked.
"Everyone has a past." She said, looking up as if she was trying not to cry.
"State the obvious." I said sarcastically interrupting her. Her eyes fell back onto mine, sending daggers straight through me. My smirk disappeared as if she had actually scared me.
"There must be something hidden in your past that makes you the jerk you are today." She said, not holding back on the jerk bit. I had been called a jerk many times before, but none as serious as this, none had ever hurt before either, but coming from her mouth you could tell she really meant it.
"I'm only a jerk to people I don't like." I said, that practically just slipped out, the words literally rolled of my tongue without an ounce of thought gone into it.
"I can tell." She said, still looking up this time. I could see the moisture in her eyes thicken but she didn't shed a single tear, it wasn't like her. "You really need to learn some respect." She suddenly spat at me.
"Respect?! You were invading my room!" I literally shouted back. The anger was building up inside both of us.
"Why did you even want me here in the first place?" She shouted. "Do you have some stupid prank to play to embarrass me in a way you haven't before?!" She said raising her voice once again.
"Even if it was, you still came!" I responded.
"Because I was forced!" She shouted back in my face.
"By who?!" I asked, however I already knew the answer.
"My parents!"
"Those snobs?! Do they even know what a regular house party is? It's not a bloody tea party!" I said, full on shouting now.
"Don't talk about my parents like that!" She said, raising her voice even higher than me.
"Like what?!" I said, bringing my voice down an octave.
"Your mother must be so proud." She snarled, silencing me. "Thought so." She said, sounding pleased with herself.
"Don't you dare talk to me like that again." I said, snarling in her face, almost growling.
"Or what?" She said, getting on my nerves.
I wanted to shout back in her face but I couldn't, I didn't know what to say, my mouth had run dry of comebacks and quirky sayings to outsmart her, the only things that my brain would think to say not even a 5 year old would find insulting. In the small amount of time of awkwardness during the silence my brain had cancelled out everything to say. So I did the next thing my brain had lined up to do. I kissed her. I kissed Delilah. I don't know what came over me, I planted my lips firmly on hers, I wasn't expecting her to kiss back but she did. I wasn't expecting to like the kiss, but I did. I was expecting her to retract, but she didn't. Her lips tasted sweet and I could taste the hint of mint from her freshly brushed teeth. Her lips were soft, they had the right texture for a perfect kiss, this was far from perfect but the closest I had ever gotten. The kiss ended too quickly for my liking. What am I saying? I hate her, remember? We both opened our eyes and look at each other with astonishment. I was expecting a slap but it never came. Instead she quickly left my room and fled the house before I could even say or do anything. I remained stood where I was, still completely shocked, I couldn't get her out of my mind. This can't be good.
"You okay man?" Louis asked as he waltzed into my room slightly tipsy.
"Yeah, fine." I said reluctantly.
"Awesome, we're going to play beer pong, are you coming?" He asked slurring his words.
"I'll be there in a minute." I said as I watched him walk out of the room. So many questions were running through my head. Why did she kiss back? Why didn't she slap me? Why didn't she say anything afterwards? Did she like the kiss as much as I did? I wasn't in the mood for a party anymore but I didn't have much choice.
