(A/N: hey all. Sorry in advance for this chapter. It's pretty long so I've split it in two)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
There he was, the male that controlled Jungkook's thoughts. Taehyung. After seeing the young male, he grinned with that cheeky smile of his and made his way over to the table. Jungkook noted how Taehyung's thin white jumper fitted him perfectly and the colour was the epitome of his innocence. His dark blue jeans hugged his legs snuggly. To Jungkook, Taehyung looked perfect like some winter fairy. Of course, to the younger one it was all complete with Taehyung's faultless face. Heat rose to Jungkook's cheeks, filling him with warmth at the other's presence.
"Hi Kookie" Taehyung greeted with that adorable smile of his as he sat down in front of Jungkook. Within a few days of speaking, Taehyung had already developed a nickname for the other. However every time he used it, Jungkook just blushed from not being used to it.
"H-hi Taehyung" Jungkook stuttered back. 'Damn why am I stuttering again?! Be a man Jungkook' he thought to himself. What followed were a few moments of silence. To Jungkook, it felt like eternity since hearing the other's voice when actually it was about a minute.
'Jungkook say something' the young male argued with himself. "Um, y-you look nice" he said. 'Nice?! That's all you could think of?! He looks gorgeous! Beautiful! He looks se—' Jungkook lectured himself mentally until Taehyung began to speak, cutting him from his inner conflict.
"T-thank you" Taehyung hesitated with a blush creeping onto his cheeks. "You look handsome" he complimented back. Jungkook just smiled sheepishly as a reply. Once again silence fell upon them again, both refusing to look into each other's eyes. "Thank you for asking me to come to this festival. I haven't had the chance to properly go out for some fun since I moved here" he said sweetly.
"Oh! It's okay" Jungkook replied, balling up his fists with nervousness.
"I guess we will get to know each other a little better in person then" Taehyung stated, smiling like it was second-nature.
"U-uh yeah" the younger one stuttered again. He looked to the clock in the shop seeing it read 6:15pm. "U-um, shall we go?" Jungkook asked his older friend, facing him.
"Oh you're right. I'd love to go" Taehyung said, getting excited. Jungkook couldn't help but grin widely on the inside seeing the other act this way. They both got up and made their way out the shop and walked to the festival.
The walk took a few minutes as the festival took place near the river not too far from the main city area. Of course, both the males engaged in small talk on their way as they were unsure how to speak to each other. On the phone they wouldn't stop conversing but being together in person was different, more personal. The evening air was crisp with frost. It gave the night a sense of magic. When arriving at the festival, both the two were hit with a wave of heat and warmth. There were stalls decorated with glowing yellow lights, filled with various trinkets and souvenirs available to buy. The smell of cookies, hot chocolate and various other items radiated from the area, filling the two with happiness as they stepped in and began to look around.
As they walked around, they saw all the different shops that all sold unique items. Gawking at the food that was in offer, grinning like idiots as the winter festive spirit swarmed within them. Every time Taehyung so much as glanced at something, Jungkook made sure they took a closer look. Just having these moments with him made Jungkook gain in confidence around the other male. Whenever they spoke, Jungkook didn't stutter as much. It warmed Jungkook to the core seeing Taehyung get happy over the festival. Practically most of the evening all Jungkook heard from the elder was "Kookie look at this! Oh wow!." There was one particular stall that they both were at. Taehyung was busy eyeing some of the souvenirs they sold. Jungkook just watched until something glistened in his eye from the lights that hung above them. He closed in on the shining object to see it was a necklace with a snowflake on it.
"You have a good eye young man" a middle to late aged woman walked closer to him from behind the stacks of items. Jungkook slightly jumped at the sudden appearance of her but greeted politely. "Believe or not there are two necklaces there. It's split in two" the woman informed. Jungkook looked at her confusingly, the woman just laughed.
"Look" she said as she showed it him. "Necklaces like these have special meaning"
"How so?" Jungkook asked, clearly curious.
"Well, each snowflake is different. Two are never the same. So by giving one half to someone and you keeping the other means that the two of you are one and the bond you have is unique to others. Yours alone" the woman explained. Jungkook was taken aback by the deep meaning it had behind it. He turned to see Taehyung staring at a polar bear teddy like a child at Christmas. Smiling, he faced the woman again.
"I'll take it" he said confidently and the woman handed him the item. Seeing as how he didn't think it was the right time, he hid the necklaces in his pocket and walked over to the other. Taehyung didn't even register his presence as he continued to stare at the bear. The item itself looked expensive but for Jungkook that didn't matter.
"Can we have one of these please?" Jungkook asked the man selling them, catching Taehyung's surprised attention. He stared at Jungkook in disbelief.
"Why are you doing? They're expensive" Taehyung whispered to Jungkook do the man wouldn't hear him.
"I'm buying you something" Jungkook said simply as he proceeded to pay for the item. Noticing that Taehyung still hadn't changed expression at him, Jungkook turned to face him. "What? I'm allowed to buy you something if I want to. Here you go" he said with glee as he handed the bear to Taehyung who blushed in reponse.
'Oh my god, why is he so cute!' Jungkook mentally screamed. 'I don't know how long I can keep this confidence up' he thought as each moment he shared with Taehyung, he was getting weaker and weaker by the second.
Suddenly, the sound of Taehyung's stomach was heard as it rumbled. While he blushed from embarrassment, Jungkook just giggled at the innocence of it.
"Hungry I take it?" Jungkook joked. Taehyung nodded with a grin.
"I forgot to eat today" he admitted. Jungkook eyes widened at what Taehyung just said. "I was working all day and didn't managed to get anything as I needed to get ready for this."
"Come on" Jungkook said as he walked to the nearest food stall. Taehyung just smiled and followed Jungkook's path.
They both sat down at a table surrounding one of the food shops. Jungkook told him to wait there while he went to go and get something for them to eat. While he waited, Taehyung rubbed his hands as they felt a little cold.
'Should've worn a coat' he shivered, trying to warm up. He noticed Jungkook walked back and stopped his actions, not wanting to burden him. Jungkook smiled as he placed a cup of hot chocolate and some brownies in front of Taehyung.
"Eat" he said. Taehyung nodded as thanks. He reached for the cup and felt the warm liquid heat his fingers from the winter chill. He smiled at the thoughtfulness of the other.
After sitting for a few moments, the two decided to continue walking. Despite all of the other visitors to the festival, both Jungkook and Taehyung made most of it. They bought a few more things, well Jungkook did. He didn't want Taehyung to spend his hard earned money. As they continued to walk, the air began to get colder to which Taehyung shivered again. The cold breeze began to blow through his thin jumper. Jungkook noticed and quickly removed his jacket to place around Taehyung.
"J-Jungkook, what are you doing?" He said surprised. "You're going to get cold!" He warned. Jungkook just smiled and shook his head.
"It's okay. I'm not cold" he replied. Truthfully he was cold since taking his jacket off but he was more concerned about Taehyung and besides, he was heated up with Taehyung's smiles.
"Are you sure?" Taehyung asked.
"Yeah, Tae. I'm sure" he said without realising. 'Oh god, I just called him Tae' he thought and mentally screamed. Both of them blushed at the sound of the nickname. Taehyung lowed his head trying to hide the reddening of his cheeks.
"Thank you" he said sweetly as he pulled the jacket closer around him. They continued to walk side by side. The air still chilly. Jungkook couldn't stop stealing glances at Taehyung in his jacket. Taehyung however was taking notice that Jungkook's hands began to shiver. Immediately Taehyung grabbed it and clasped his own hand around Jungkook's. He felt Jungkook tense up at the sudden contact and could tell he was surprised. After a few seconds, Jungkook relaxed.
'So that's what holding his hand feels like' Jungkook inwardly fangirled. To him, his hand felt perfect in his. It was golden warm to the touch. It heated his hands and his whole body. He couldn't help but smile as their hands continued to be intertwined. Without realising they had reached the end of the stalls and were now walking into the park alongside the river. Both walking in silence and enjoying each other's company. Sooner or later they realised that they had walked around practically most of the park and the festival stalls were in the distance. Looking up, Jungkook saw the winter moon glowing bright and the stars flashing in the dark sky.
'I guess now would be perfect' he decided in his head. "Taehyung" he called out to which said male hummed and turned to face Jungkook. The young male thought the older looked stunning under the light of the moon. He was speechless at the the other's beauty. Jungkook grabbed both of Taehyung's hands and held them close. He took a deep breath and opened his mouth.
"Tae...there's something I have to tell you"
Sorry that this chapter is pretty long, there is actually more for the chapter but I decided to split it because it is quite a lot for a chapter as it is. Anyway, once again, I apologise if it's not too good. Any constructive criticism is welcome :)
Expect the actual confession the next update (which will be very very soon) I promise!!!
