"Simon!" Clary called from the training room. I flung a knife into a dummy's chest. "Simon, where's Isabelle?"
Simon appeared and had a cup that was colored. Probably blood. I think to myself. "She's in the library."
"Thanks." Clary tossed her stele in her bag and ran out the room.
I walk over to Simon and he smiles, "Hey, Hayley."
"Hi, Simon," I reply, "so why does Clary want to talk to Isabelle?"
"I dunno. Clary's been acting weird lately." He shrugged. "Maybe it's just PMS."
I laugh, "Maybe, Simon! So how's Maia?" I put out my dagger from my boot and fling it across the room. It nearly misses Alec's head. "SORRY ALEC!" I call.
"She's fine." Simon says.
"Nice." I replied. My dagger goes from where Alec is to above my head. He smirks proudly. "Aweome, Alec!" I scream. He comes over to me and ruffles my hair and I laugh.
Jace comes in and tackles me. I scream and I flip him over my shoulder. I brush my brown hair back, "Hey, Jace."
"You've been working on your skills, Hayley." He rubs the back of his neck. "Ow, you really got me."
I grin. "Thanks!"
Clary rushes in and she looks at Jace, "I need to talk to you."
Jace shrugs and he playfully punches my arm. I draw a quick freeze rune on my hand and I hold my hand out to Jace. He, of course, freezes.
Isabelle walks in and snickers, "Unfreeze Jace, Hay."
I roll my eyes. "Fine." I draw another rune and I hold it out.
He unfreezes and glares at me. I glare back.
I pressed my ear against the door as Clary and Jace talked.
Clary: Jace, I don't really know what to say right now . . .
Jace: C'mon! You can tell me anything, beautiful.
Clary: I just don't want you to get hurt.
Jace: It's okay, just tell me.
Clary: Okay, I'm breaking up with you.
Jace: What?
Clary: I'm sorry. It's just that, I think Simon is the one for me.
Jace: Oh. *anger is obviously in his voice*
Clary: I'm -
Jace footsteps approach the door and I instantly back away. He sees me and he shakes his head and he walks down the hallway.
Clary stands there looking at me. "Were you listening?"
"Yep." I stand there and look her dead in the eye.
"Do you hate me?" She looked pleadingly at me.
I nod and I don't break away. "Kinda."
"Oh. Well, I didn't want to hurt him."
"He's my best friend, Clary. And, you know, you really, really did hurt him. Didn't you already date Simon but, let go of him because you wanted Jace?"
Clary looked down at her boots, "Yeah."
"And now you're letting Jace go for Simon again. Wow, classic Clary." I scoff and roll my eyes. I shake my head then and I turn to go find Jace.
