SPOLIER WARNNING AS WELL AS SHIPING!!! YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!!! Well, slight shipping. Also, some headcannons are in here!

Sans waited at the end of the hall. Soon, he will see the human. Soon, the judgement will begin. He will give the human it's sentence. The judge is ready to give a bad time.

Sans tensed, he heard footsteps. He clenched his hands in his pockets, gritting his teeth into a grin. He stared down the hall. Windows shined there impossible beams of light down. The gold columns illuminated the face of the creature coming toward him in a run.

That's not the kid.

That's Mettaton EX. What's he doing here?

Mettaton looked surprised to see him here too. He stopped, looking at Sans up and down. Mettaton then smiled. "I don't I ever meet you before, darling. Hello! I didn't know anyone else was still alive..." His smile wavered for a second, but it was back to that TV star expression.

Sans felt a little annoyed that he was smiling in a time like this, but he pushed it to the side. The guy is just trying to make me feel better. Sans scratched his skull and yawned widely. "Yeah, I'm Sans. Sans the skeleton."

"I'm Metta- Well, maybe you know who I am." Mettaton began awkwardly. "Alphys sent me here to warn Asgore about the human, coming to kill him."

Sans nodded. The human must've already killed Undyne. Wow, they're getting close. "Go ahead, I'm not gonna stop ya."

Mettaton hesitated, looking unsure. "What are you doing here, beautiful?"

Sans shrugged, but his sholuders tensed up again. What will happen if I tell him? Nothing bad, right? "Well, I was planning on..." Sans trailed off. His brother's death was still so fresh on his mind.

"Killing the human yourself?" Mettaton said sheepishly. "I would say that's not a good idea, but I would be a hypocrite if I did." Mettaton sagged in a less than perfect posture. "I'm planning on murdering the human as well, to...well...Save humanity from them I guess, I don't know." Mettaton rubbed his robotic elbows. "It sounds stupid out loud."

Sans was surprised at how Mettaton was acting now. He is supposed to be a star, ego and all. I guess killing your friends can really humble someone, Sans thought. He looked out the window nearest to him. "I'm here for a more... revenge kinda thing." Sans still didn't feel comfortable sharing everything.

Mettaton dipped his head in understanding. Then, he bent down to become almost level with Sans. What the heck is this guy doing?!

"I had an idea." Mettaton said decidedly. "I'll help you fight the human."

Sans was caught off guard. Why would Mettaton want to help him? He pointed behind him, to the end of the hall. "Aren't you gonna warn Asgore or something?"

Mettaton stood up again. "There is time after this battle." He thinks he's going to live?!

Sans shook his head. "Nah, it's fine, I don't need your help." Sans hoped he could shoo this guy away.

Mettaton paced in thought. "I have been thinking..." Yeah, about writing your death warrant? "Every monster that the human fought was on its own, and it uh... didn't work. So, what if we fought the human together?"

Sans felt another stab of anger. This is serious, we would both be killed. What could would any of this do? Sans waved his hand to the entrance. "I don't think the two of us are stronger than Undyne."

Mettaton flinched, looks like he was right about Undyne. Then he opened his mouth in fury, but changed his mind, and went for a gentler approach. "I used to be a human extermination robot, but those functions have never been fully removed..." I forgot about that.

Sans' eye flared for a second. "We both going to die anyway." He said blandly. Sans thought about how many times he was killed by this resilient human before...

Mettaton shook his head in confidence. "With enough hope, we can!" He is acting like this is all a playdate! "Undyne is... gone, and if we work together, we could avenge her!

Sans' eye lit up. Suddenly, he was upon Mettaton, and had a bone in his hand. Breathing heavily, he pressed it to Mettaton's neck. He didn't even know how he knocked Mettaton down. His feelings were just so out of wack...

"L i s t e n."

Mettaton eyes were wide. He was to shocked to do anything. Sans could read the fear on his face, saw his reflection in his eyes.

Looking deep into Mettaton's eyes, he spoke. "What are you trying to do? You know what? I don't blame you. You did bad things, I did my own. It's fine, no biggie." He was talking fast, not sure what he was even talking about.

"Each freaking time I fight this guy, he defeats me. The permanent kind. Okay, not really. Nothing is permanent really!" He was laughing now. In his mind, Sans felt horrified at his expression reflected in Mettaton's eyes. He looked instead at his neck.

"How many times now? 20? 30? Nah, it's gotta be in the 50s. They must really like having bad times! I love seeing my brother die and everyone else all around me. It's the highlight of my freaking day." Sans' hand shook hard and he gribbed the bone harder.

"Sometimes, you guys do something different. But never have I heard something so s t u p i d." Gold illuminated Mettaton's face sharply. "As much as I appreciate your offer, buddy, I can't help but laugh. Ha ha hah ha ha!" His sides hurt from all the laughter.

Mettaton squeaked as he dug his bone deeper. "W-wait! Don't kill me! I didn't do anything to deserve this!"

Sans faltered. I can't just murder someone like this, he was just suggesting something. God, what was I thinking? But isn't Mettaton already going to be killed anyway? Maybe I'm doing him a favor...

No, there is a small chance he will live. Plus, he is one of the only other survivors. There is a certain sentiment about that as well. Sans let the bone disappear and he crawled off of Mettaton. Mettaton got up quickly, eager to get away from him. Mettaton smoothed down his frazzled hair. How could he let this get to his head? It will never happen again, no matter how many monsters that human kills, Sans decided.

Mettaton wasn't leaving. "You..." His voice cracked. He licked his lips and tried again. "You said that your brother died?"

I said a lot of things that I wish I hadn't said, but does it really matter? The reset will just make sure he doesn't remember it. But out of all the things I said, you ask that question? After I almost killed you?

Mettaton nodded, and took a step forward. His stance was like he was trying to tame a wild animal. "So, that's why you want to kill them?" Slience fell like a heavy blanket. Sans couldn't bring himself to say anything. Then, Mettaton said something that he would never expect.

"I admire your dedication." Mettaton whispered, but it still echoed around the empty chamber. "I wish I was like you... instead, I abandon my friends to do my own dreams."

You don't wish to be like me. "Why aren't you leaving?" Sans manged to croak out.

"I realized... that my friends might be... I have almost no one to go back to. I mean, I have Alphys, but she is trying to keep all of the monsters safe. I wanted to take matter in my own hands." Mettaton looked down at his hands, his shoulders sagged. "I was prepared to... I mean, I still am... If I didn't do anything, I might have gone crazy." He shot a meaningful look at me, but his eyes also revealed other emotions. Grief, determination, and resignation. Sans felt like he was looking in a mirror.

Mettaton's gaze dipped back downward. "Then, Alphys told me to warn Asgore. I met you, and, well... Your personality. However, it's clear your going to fight the human as well. I think..." Mettaton took a deep breath. "Let me offer my dumb request again. I want to help you. Maybe... we can actually do something. Do...do see what I mean?"

Sans shrugged, and flipped his hoodie up. "Sorry, but I have other plans. I'm going to Grillby's." He walked past him. His footsteps echoed around loudly, his thoughts jumbled. Mettaton... I just can't let you help me. It will be another death on my account. It won't do anything.

"HEY!"

Startled, Sans turned around. Mettaton grinned widely, and posed dramatically.

"Knock em dead, darling!"
---------------------------------------------------------

Sans was in Grillby's, enjoying a nice cold ketchup. He looked up at the TV screen in Grillby's. On the TV, was Mettaton NEO and the human, facing off.

Sans clenched his bottle. Crazily enough, he found hope to cheer Mettaton on in his head...

The human swung their knife. It was just one blow, but it was enough. Sans watched as Mettaton slowly died on the screen.

"G-guss she should of worked more on the defenses..." Sans didn't wait for the rest. He drained his ketchup, then ran out into the snow. As he teleported to the judgement hall, one quote echoed in his mind...

"Knock em dead, darling!"

Authors Note:

YOU KNOW THE SADDEST THING ABOUT THIS?!?

SANS CAN'T EVEN GIVE THEM A BAD TIME.

WHY?

BECAUSE.

METTATON ONLY SAYS THAT LINE IF YOU HESITATE ON HIS FIGHT.

AND IF YOU HESITATE...

YOU DON'T GET A BAD TIME.
