It’s the day after I re-joined The Silver Eyes Pack, after spending yesterday afternoon curled up on the couch next to Nate with the rest of the gang watching Pirates of the Caribbean one, two, three and four we had finally decided that maybe it was time to organise dinner. After that we had sat down again and watched a couple of TV shows.
Then at about eleven o’clock we had decided that maybe it was time that we all went off to bed. Knowing that today would be a long day, especially when we found out that Alpha Reid had decided that it was time for them to leave and head back to The Copper Eyes Pack.
Trick, Drew and Nate crashed here again, Drew and Trick stealing the couches leaving Nate to sleep on the floor. But he didn’t really seem to mind as long as he got a pillow he said he would be fine. I felt sorry for him, guilty even that he had to sleep on the hard floor while the rest of us got beds and couches, but he had just brushed us all off and fallen asleep right in front of us on the floor.
Up in my room Tessa and I had stayed up to twelve thirty talking, knowing that we had to get some sleep but neither of us being able to. We talked about everything and anything from what had happened to us while we were held captive to things we remembered from before to everything that’s happening now.
Talking about everything helped to ease Tessa’s stress a bit more, because as we were talking about all of it I could see her visibly relaxing. In the end we had agreed that it would be a good idea to at least get some sleep. So we had.
I had dreamt about finding my mate, finding out that he is Roman. A devilish grin on his face as he took my hand tingles erupting at the touch. But then he changed, changed to Derek, Alpha Justin’s son. A handsome smile on his kind face as he ever so gently kissed my knuckles. But then Roman was back in front of me again, laughing at me telling me that I’m a stupid girl for thinking that I could ever get away from him.
Waking up this morning I had snuck out of my room with some fresh clothes and gone into the bathroom to have a shower. Washing away the remains of the dream from my mind with the hot water going down the drain. Once finished I dry myself off keeping my eyes averted from my body so I don’t have to look at the ugly scars littering my skin like nasty reminders.
Holding the towel in my left hand I reach to put it down on the bathroom counter just as the door swings open. Gasping in surprise I spin around to face the door the towel still in my left hand. When my eyes land on Nate I feel my checks flush as the realisation that I’m completely naked comes to mind.
Nate takes one look at me and flushes a red colour averting his eyes as he stutters out some apologises. I quickly wrap the towel around myself as I try to collect myself from the embarrassment of being caught in the nude.
“It’s alright Nate.” I say after a while my checks still heated.
He slowly turns around, his copper brown eyes catching sight of the towel and I watch as his shoulders relax. “I’m sorry, I didn’t even realise anyone was in here.” He says as he scratches the back of his head awkwardly.
“No, it’s alright. My fault, I didn’t lock the door.” I laugh softly trying to relax more.
“I promise didn’t see anything.” Nate stampers he glances around the bathroom.
I walk over to him, placing my hand on his chest reassuringly. “It’s okay Nate.”
He nods his head.
Turning around I scoop up my things and leave the bathroom. “Anyway. It’s all yours.” I smile as I walk down the hall a bit to my bedroom door.
After taking another ten minutes to get ready I can hear the sounds of everyone being up and about, because the house sounds like it’s full of life. Tessa and I make our way down stairs dropping her bag by the door as we go into the kitchen to get some breakfast.
“Father wants us at the cars in ten minutes Tess.” Trick mutters as he glances over at us. “Morning you two.” He adds after.
Nate glances at me quickly but looks away again his checks turning slightly red. Moving behind him I reach over and steal the two slices of toast on his plate thanking him as I reseed. He turns and glares at me for a short minute before two new slices of toast are given to him.
Once we’re all finished eating and the dishes are done we all leave the house walking through the housing area to the Alpha’s house were we see three cars sitting out front. Alpha Reid and Alpha Justin wait outside near the cars both of their mates standing beside them. The four guards that accompanied us here are standing off to one side talking amongst themselves.
When Alpha Justin catches sight of us he says something to the others because they all turn toward us smiles on their faces. “Glad you guys made it.” Alpha Reid laughs.
“You wouldn’t leave without us would you?” Trick foreigns hurt.
“Of course we would.” Leah, Alpha Reid’s mate says lightly hitting her mates arm.
Alpha Reid just laughs. “We’ve got to get going now it we want to make it back to camp before dark.” He says as he turns to the vehicles. “Nate you’re driving, Trick, Drew and Tessa will be with you. The Guards are going in their own car.”
“Why aren’t we running back like we did when we came?” Trick complains as he looks at the cars.
Alpha Reid glances at Nate for a second. “Because we just are. Stop complaining Trick.” He laughs as Trick sticks his tongue out at him.
Alpha Reid and Leah start to head to their car but Alpha Justin calls to him. “When will you be passing to position on to the next generation?”
Alpha Reid just smiles. “Twenty-first birthday.” He simply replies.
Then they say goodbye and get in the car starting it up with a rev and driving off. The four Guards – Sean, Reece, Jack and Sebastian - get in one of the other cars, Sebastian running over and giving me a hug and saying goodbye before joining his fellow Guards. Then they too drive off.
Trick and Drew walks off to the remaining car after saying goodbye to everyone. Trick getting in the passenger seat and Drew getting in the back. Tessa starts crying as she wraps her arms tightly around me sobbing goodbye into my shirt.
“We’ll see each other again soon alright. Call me on this number whenever you want.” I hand her over a piece of paper with the house phones number scrawled on it.
She sniffles a bit, and then moves back. “Thank you for everything Amethyst. You are a very good friend. I’ll call you so we can stay in contact.” She smiles at me.
I return her smile with one of my own. “You Tessa have been a very good friend to me too and I’ll miss having you around.” I say honestly.
She lets out a short laughs. “Just make sure you don’t replace me with someone else.”
I laugh at that. “Don’t worry I won’t.”
With that she moves over to Tommy saying goodbye and giving him a hug. After that she walks over to the car and gets into the back next to Drew.
Nate stands awkwardly in front of me for a minute, his cheeks a nice shade of red. I walk up to him and throw my arms around his neck. “If it helps pretend it never happened.” I mutter in his ear as I hug him tightly.
His arms snake around my waist as he returns the hug. “It’d be kind of hard to pretend it never happened. My mind won’t allow me to forget.” He laughs.
I smile. “Then don’t forget.” Kissing his cheek I linger there for a couple of seconds before pulling away. “I’ll see you around Nate.”
He returns my smile. “You sure will.” He turns and heads for the car getting in the front driver’s seat.
Starting the car he rev’s the engine a couple of times then throws it into drive, the car digs up part of the dirt road before taking off down the drive at a high speed.
I wave goodbye until the car is out of sight, blinking my eyes as I try to hold back the tears that are threatening to spill over. Noah wraps his arms around my shoulders pulling me into his side.
“Come on lets head home.” He says as he turns me around.
Claude slips his hand into Noah’s other and Tommy walks next to me as we all walk through the grass area toward the housing area and finally to our house. The whole time I’m walking I try to keep my mind preoccupied as I try to ignore the faint pull within my chest pointing out that my mate is close.
