averting her eyes
from the unforgiving reality
settling into my face
Had I misheard her
or were those her words
piercing my disbelieving heart
'This is over'
no, it couldn't be
'I don't feel like I'm in the right place'

'I'm so sorry'
don't do this to us.
Is it something I've done
to deserve this cruel fate
our love couldn't possibly end
