CHAPTER 16

EFFECTS OF A FULL MOON

~~~~~~~~~~
"Beautiful Monday morning, Beacon Hills high school is open after being closed Thursday and Friday; police search continues for alleged killer Derek Hale-"
Crystal slammed her hand down full force on to the radio beside her bed and groaned loudly, shoving her face deep in her pillow. The door to the brunettes room creaked open and footsteps were heard, causing the Thomson girl to throw her comforter over her face.
"Criss, are you sure you wanna go back to school? I mean you did almost get murdered, which I'm still freaked out at by the way." Jenna walked over and sat beside Crystal on her bed.
"I have to go back, I'm not gonna be one of those sappy teenage girls who stays in their room acting like their world has just turned upside down after a traumatic experience; which wasn't a big deal by the way." Crystal finished her rant and threw her covers away, sitting up. Jenna just furrowed her eyebrows, a chuckle escaping her lips.
"Well... Okay then. And yes it is a big deal, Criss. Getting a call from the Sheriff on Wednesday night telling me that my niece was almost murdered by Derek Hale is a very very big deal!" Jenna exclaimed, her eyes widening as her voice got louder with each word.
"Well I wasn't, okay? So it's fine, I'm fine." Crystal got up and walked towards her bathroom.
"Are you?" Jenna's question caught the brunette girl off guard as she halted to a stop.
Was she okay?
That's the million dollar question.
Crystal turned around and gave her aunt a half-hearted smile. The smile wasn't for her Aunt, it was for herself. If she wanted to be okay; she had to start convincing herself that she would be okay.
With that thought in mind, the girl answered.
"Yeah, I'm fine."
🌙
When Crystal arrived at school, she couldn't help but notice the huge red SUV parked only a few yards away from her own black Mustang. The small brunette walked over to the car, just in time to see Allison getting out of it.
"Hey." Crystal approached the tall brunette who smiled in response.
"Hey Criss." Allison chirped.
Crystal glanced to her right, catching eye contact with the she-devil herself. Kate Argent.
The teenager cocked her head to the side and waved sweetly, smirking at the older woman who had her eyes narrowed in the small girl.
However, she turned around and grabbed Allison's arm; avoiding the blonde's piercing gaze.
"How are you gonna handle today? I mean with Scott." Crystal mentioned as the two brunettes climbed the school stairs.
Allison sighed and shrugged, "I have no clue, I just want to avoid him. I can't face him today." Allison announced as the two opened the doors of the building.
"Come on, Allison. Remember what I said about giving him a chance? I know your scared but you have to at least hear him out." Crystal explained. The Argent girl turned to look at the girl with a thoughtful expression as they reached her locker.
"Hm, I'll think about it. I guess its kind of hard to face him right now; I mean, I only broke up with him a few nights ago." Allison admitted. Crystal understood where she was coming from. If she was in Allison's shoes, she would be confused and scared. She thought, however, that if she didn't push Stiles to tell her about the whole werewolf shenanigans, then she actually would be in Allison's position.
Crystal couldn't help but over hear a few conversations from the other students about the other night. Crystal frowned, thinking it was weird how nobody knew it was them.
Just then Lydia strolled up to the two teenagers.
"Hey girls." The red-head chirped as she smiled sweetly at the other two girls. Crystal muttered a 'hey' back as the trio began walking down the hallway.
"It's just weird, every bodies talking about what happened the other night and nobody knows it was us." Allison glanced around warily. Crystal nodded along with the girl.
Lydia just scoffed. "Thank you for the protection of minors."
Crystal rolled her eyes as Allison sighed.
"Guys, do you think I made the wrong decision?" Allison breathed out.
"About that jacket with that dress? Absolutely." Lydia sassed as Crystal snorted.
"I think she means with Scott, Lydia. And you already have my input on this Allison." Crystal chuckled as she re-adjusted the strap on her messenger bag.
"Hello? Scott locked us in a classroom and left us for dead. He's lucky we're not pressing charges."
Crystal glared at her best friend and swatted her arm. 'Not helping' the girl mouthed.
Crystal couldn't help but frown at the red-head, did she really think that Scott would leave them for dead after everything that he's done?
Walking in to her chemistry class, Crystal's eyes narrowed on Stiles who was already sitting down, fumbling with a pencil.
The small girl smirked as she made her way to her seat beside the boy and sat down. The squeaking of the chair against the marble flooring caught the boys attention as his head snapped up towards the petite figure.
"So, I'm guessing you have a killer hangover." Crystal smirked as she sat down on her seat and grabbed her chemistry notes. Stiles eyebrows furrowed in confusion.
"Wha- how did you know I was drinking?" Stiles turned his body so that he was now facing the girl. Her smirk widened as she recalled the memories of last nights events.
"You may or may not have drunk-called me and started talking about fish." Crystal innocently smiled as Stiles' frown deepened.
"Fish? What the hell are you talking about? What else did I say?" Stiles voice now showed slight panic as his eyes widened.
"Oh, you know... You told me that you have a major crush on me. Oh and you also said that you hate Spiderman." Crystal lied as she spoke smoothly. She was guessing it worked because the Stilinski boy was now fidgeting nervously as his eyes widened in horror.
"W-what? I said that?" Stiles inhaled a shaky breathe as Crystal chuckled.
"I'm kidding, you didn't say anything about Spiderman." Crystal teased as she smirked again.
"A-are you serious? I said that I have a crush on you? C-cause I don't, definitely not, nope- not at all," The pale boy was now even more pale as he began to sweat and breathe heavier. Crystal burst out laughing and covered her mouth with her small hand. Stiles narrowed his eyes on her in realisation.
"I was kidding Stiles. Oh god that was gold, truly gold." Crystal spoke between laughs and breaths. Stiles ran a hand through his buzzed hair and glared at the girl with all of his might.
"I- you, you know what? I hate you, uh huh. Oh yeah. I hate you. I can't believe you would do that to me." Stiles turned in his seat and slouched down slightly, crossing his arms over his chest. Crystal faked a pout.
"Oh Stiles, you can't stay mad at me forever." Crystal cooed as she poked at his cheek a few times. He just ignored her and focused on staring at the front of the class.
"Stiles."
Poke
"Stiles."
Poke
"Stiles.
Poke
"Stiles."
Poke
"Sti-"
Stiles grabbed the finger she had been using to poke him and he turned around and glared at her.
"What?!"
Crystal refrained from laughing again at the expression on this boys face. He looked like he wanted to murder her. She just gave a sheepish smile.
"Wanna come over after school and watch Batman? I know you want to."
"Your evil. Evil."
Crystal tugged the finger away that the pale boy had still been holding and leaned her elbow on her desk.
Crystal snorted. "I'm sorry, your my best friend and I love you. Will you forgive me?"
Stiles' eyes widened and he coughed slightly, but after regaining his composure, he returned to glaring and huffed. "No."
"Please?"
"No."
"Please?"
"No! Your evil. An evil child. Evil."
Crystal just grinned at the boy and chuckled. She couldn't help but notice how the boy was trying so hard not to smile back at the girl.
"Awh, look who's smiling." Crystal spoke in a baby voice and poked the boys cheek. He went back to huffing.
"Your so annoying, you know that?" Stiles turned to look at the girl who was just grinning like an idiot.
"I'm the best person you've ever met, don't even lie, Stilinski."
The boy in plaid chuckled as the bell for first period rang through the classroom; students began piling in.
Scott walked in to class and went to talk to Allison, but was cut off by Mr.Harris.
"Take a seat, Mr. McCall."
Scott huffed and went to his seat in front of Stiles.
"You have forty-five minutes to complete the test, twenty-five percent of your grade can be earned right now simply by writing your name on the cover of the blue book."
Crystal immediately began writing her name on the cover of the book.
"However, as happens every year, one of you will inexplicably fail to put your name on the cover; and I'll be left yet again questioning my decision to ever become a teacher," Stiles glanced to the left and smirked at Crystal. She grasped the hint and smiled, shaking her head.
"So, let's get the disappointment over with. Begin." Mr. Harris then pressed the start button on his timer and students immediately began the test.
Okay, so far the test was quite easy. Not bad.
Crystal was about half way through the test when Scott immediately bounced out of his chair and ran out of the room.
"Mr. McCall!" Harris shouted after Scott. Stiles then grabbed his bag and ran out after Scott.
"Mr. Stilinski!"
Crystal grabbed her bag and was about to exit the room when Harris' voice interrupted her.
"Ms. Thomson, sit down or I will be forced to give you detention for the rest of the semester."
"Can you do that?" Crystal questioned.
"When it comes to people like you, yes. Now sit down." The spawn of Satan commanded and Crystal shrugged.
"Whatever." She then walked out of the room and in to the empty hallway.
"Ms. Thomson!"
She ignored the teachers cries and glanced through the empty hallway.
The first thing she heard was the ringing of a phone. Deciding to follow it, the girl adjusted the strap on her bag and walked down the hallway.
The ringtone lead her straight to the boys locker room.
The Thomson girl hesitantly walked in and was met with Stiles, who was holding a phone up with his right arm.
"Stiles?"
He immediately turned around and nodded his head towards the shower, where the noise of one running echoed trough the room.
The two teenagers walked deeper in to the room and stopped at the showers, peering in. Scott was standing under the shower shirtless as the two exhaled in relief. Scott turned around and breathed out,
"Stiles, Criss-"
"What? What's happening? Are you changing?"
"No, no I can't breathe."
Crystal knew what this meant. Scott was having a panic attack.
"Okay, Scott. Just inhale through your nose and out through your mouth. O-or try holding your breath."
Scott shook his head. "I-I can't."
Stiles began fumbling through his bag for something, but when he pulled out the small blue object; Crystal immediately noticed it was Scott's inhaler.
"Here, use this. Come on, do it." Stiles held out the medicine towards his best friend who took it, and began puffing air from it.
"I was having an asthma attack?" Scott's eyebrows furrowed in confusion, she never knew Scott had asthma.
"No, you where having a panic attack." Crystal confirmed, she noticed straight away by the way he was gasping for air. It hurt her to see one of her friends breaking down like that.
"But thinking you where having an asthma attach actually stopped the panic attack, irony." Stiles said the last part in a sing-song voice and Crystal rolled her eyes, nudging him slightly with her elbow.
"How did you know how to do that?" Scott questioned as he continued to pant for air.
"I used to get them after my mom died, not fun huh?"
Crystal took a side-wards glance at Stiles. She never knew that Stiles suffered from panic-attacks. The brunette girl only ever had one in her life, and that being after her father died. She gave the boy a small smile, placing a hand on his arm.
"I looked at her, and it was like something hit me in the ribs with a hammer." Scott's voice brought Crystal from her thoughts, she immediately knew that he was talking about Allison. She nodded her head.
"Yeah, that's called heartbreak. About two billion songs written about it. You should listen to Taylor Swift one in a while." Crystal folded her arms over her chest.
"I can't stop thinking about her." Scott continued, ignoring her comment.
"Well, you could think about this; her dads a werewolf hunter and your a werewolf, so it was bound to become an issue." Stiles said as Crystal nodded along in agreement.
"That wasn't helpful," The pale boy continued.
Crystal shook her head and fixed her gaze on Scott.
"Scott, listen; I mean yeah you got dumped and it's supposed to suck-"
"That's not it, it's like I can feel everything in the room, everyone's emotions."
"It's gotta be the full moon. So we will lock you up in your room later on like we planned. That way the Alpha; who is your boss , can't get to you either." Stiles explained.
"I think we need to do a lot more than lock me in my room, Stiles." Said Scott.
"What, you mean because if you get out you can get caught by hunters?" Crystal piped up.
Scott began walking towards the two teenagers. "No, because if I get out I think I might kill someone."
"Well, this just got a hell of a lot more difficult."
🌙
Crystal plopped down on her seat beside the Argent girl in the lunch hall and immediately started digging in to her curly fries.
"Oh, hey Criss." Allison mumbled through chews of her cookie. Crystal nodded and waved in acknowledgment.
"Have you talked to Scott?" Crystal swallowed her curly fries and took a sip of water.
"No... I just can't stop thinking about him though."
Crystal smiled softly, remembering Scott saying something similar in the locker room.
"You want a cookie?" Allison held a perfectly baked chocolate-chip cookie in front of Crystals face, making the girl almost drool. Crystal nodded and mumbled a 'yeah', then shoving it down her throat like a bear after it went on hunger strike.
The petite brunette moaned in content and nodded her head up and down. "These are so good, hands down best cookie I've ever tasted."
Allison chuckled at the girl, "Yeah my mom made them, she's pretty good at it." Then continued eating her cookies.
Ah, the creepy red-headed woman, Victoria. Maybe she cooks children and feeds it to her husband and that whack-job Kate. It could be a possibility?
All of a sudden, the sound of a chair squeaking against the floor caused Crystals head to snap over to the other side of Allison. Jackson?
Crystal only narrowed her eyes in his direction, but he was only focused on Allison. The blonde boy stared at her lip longer than needed and it took everything in Crystals power not to stab him in the eye with her fork.
"Oh, man, you've got something on your; here let me." Jackson then wiped his thumb across Allison's lip in a slow manner. He probably thought he was being sexy, but it actually made him look like a total douche. He then brought his thumb up to his mouth and sucked on it.
Crystal gagged.
Allison looked at the boy weirdly but thanked him anyway. The Thomson girl just shook her head and continued eating her curly fries.
"Do you want the bite?" Those words alone was enough for Crystal's jaw to slacken wide open and some of her curly fries to fall out. "What?"
Jackson seemed to be put off a little to by the question as his head snapped in her direction.
"What?"
The Argent girl glanced around the room until her gaze set back on Jackson, who was shifting in his seat uncomfortably.
What the hell kind of question was that? Did Allison know already? No, she can't know, her father wouldn't allow it. He's too hell bent on keeping her in the dark about it, but that doesn't mean that Kate didn't tell her.
"Do you want a bite?" She then held up her cookie. Crystal sighed in relief and ran a hand through her hair.
"No, thanks." Jackson replied, looking relieved.
"Are you doing okay? I mean, since the other night?" Allison questioned the boy as she put down her cookie and folded her arms across her chest.
"Better than I thought I would be."
Crystal couldn't stop herself from rolling her eyes at the boy and taking angry bites from her curly fries. This boy better piss off before she launches a chair at him.
"You still thinking about everything that happened?" The Whittemore boy's attention was fixed on Allison, but he could feel the hot glare he was earning from the other brunette at the other side of Allison.
"Mostly about Scott, I haven't talked to him." Allison admitted.
"Probably a good idea." The blonde boy told her. Crystal narrowed her eyes on him even more.
"And why would that be? Please tell us your thoughts, captain Jackass." Crystal folded her arms on the table and raised her eyebrows in question at the boy.
Jackson just glared at the girl, and before he could answer, Allison spoke,
"You don't think I made a mistake, do you?" Her question was for Jackson, but Crystal couldn't help but feel a little more pissed of that she would want advice from the asshole himself. This is all Allison's been asking all day, if she made a bad decision. Maybe she should have thought about that decision before actually considering it and breaking Scott's heart.
"No, In fact; I think he got exactly what he deserves."
That was it. Crystal slammed her hands down in the table and stoop up abruptly, earnings the attention from everyone in the lunch hall. She then marched out of the room, not before shooting a glare over her shoulder at the smirking Jackson.
🌙
"So, you planning on going to the formal at the end of the month?"
Crystal and her strawberry blonde best friend where walking down the halls of Beacon Hills high, and of course Lydia had to bring up the subject of a dance which Crystal was not one bit interested in.
"Ha, funny." Crystal scoffed and tucked her hair behind her ear. Lydia swatted her arm and gave her a 'seriously?' Look.
"Oh, your serious?"
Lydia rolled her eyes. "Yes, I'm very serious actually."
The small brunette huffed and rubbed her face. "No, Lydia. I'm not going to a stupid dance okay?"
"What? You have to go!" Lydia protested as she came to an abrupt stop.
"Lydia, I'm not going to a dance by myself."
"Your not going to be by yourself, we have plenty of time to get you a date. If we can't find you one you can always come with Jackson and I." Lydia flipped a piece of her strawberry blonde curled locks over her shoulder and pursed her lips.
"Then I'm not going to a dance just to watch you and Jackson suck the faces off each other. Personally, I'm not a big fan of PDA." Crystal shuddered for dramatic effect and folded her arms across her chest.
"Lydia, can I talk to you for a second?" Scott appeared to the left of Crystal. He looked a little on edge. Lydia nodded and they both walked off down the hall.
Crystal turned around and saw Stiles pacing around in his lacrosse gear, he was fidgeting around nervously and mumbling things to himself.
"What was that all about?"
Stiles just about jumped out of his skin and screamed like a little girl as Crystal snorted in amusement.
"Jesu-Criss! You scared the hell out of me, don't do that." The pale boy held a hand over his heart as he breathed deep breaths. The girl only held her hands up in defense and chuckled.
"So what's that all about?" She bobbed her head in the direction of the werewolf and her strawberry blonde friend walking down the hall.
Stiles expression changed in to a more serious one as his cheeks slightly tinted pink. The word 'cute' instantly popped in to the girl's mind.
Wait, what?
"Oh, uh... Scott's going to ask Lydia if she uh, likes me? He said he can smell people's emotions and I wanted him to ya know..."
"Sniff Lydia out?"
The boy only made a disgusted face.
"No,"
"Why didn't you ask me to ask her? I mean she kinda is my best friend, Stiles." Crystal folded her arms over her chest and just stared at the boy.
"Uh... You know I didn't think of that."
She chuckled and shook her head.
"Well I've gotta get to practice. I'll text you later though." The boy said. Crystal nodded, before remembering something.
"Wait... How did you get my number?" Crystal asked, earning a chuckle from the boy.
"Oh... I asked Scott to get it from Allison, you know; the night after I told you about the whole werewolf thing. I-is that weird? I think it's weird-" Stiles explained with a blush, causing Crystal to laugh.
"It's not weird, Stiles. And good luck... With the whole Lydia thing, by the way." Crystal sent him a forced smile as he just nodded, a hesitant look in his eye. The boy waved at her as he jogged down the hallway, not before glancing back at the girl who still stood in the same spot, then he disappeared around the corner.
Crystal couldn't help but have a weird feeling in the pit of her stomach as she watched down the hallway, where the Stilinski boy had just disappeared.
She couldn't help but feel a little guilty and upset that Lydia definitely didn't like Stiles that's way, she didn't even know the boys name.
The thing that made Crystal question why Stiles liked this beautiful, popular red-headed girl; wasn't the fact that she was all of these things. But it was the fact that the girl in question had just stepped out of coaches office with smeared lipstick and messy hair, followed by a very flushed looking Scott McCall.
