CHAPTER 3

PARTIES AND MALE MODELS

~~~~~~~~~~
The next day, Crystal found herself sitting on the rusted and cold to the touch bleachers, shivering in the bitter autumn weather. Her hands were stuffed firmly in the pockets of her leather jacket as she surveyed her surroundings. The lacrosse players were entering the field, all getting ready for practise. Crystal jiggled her leg up and down, trying everything to regulate the blood flow back in to her numb foot. Just then she noticed Allison approaching her, a shy smile on her face as she stopped beside Crystal.
"Hey, uh-- is it okay if I sit here?" Asked the brunette, her hand coming up to tuck a curled piece of hair behind her ear.
"Oh--uh, yeah, of course." Crystal let out a small laugh and scooted over on the metal seat. Allison smiled and sat down, muttering a small thanks under her breath.
"So, you here to watch your secret lover in action?" Crystal teased, a grin appearing on her face as she wiggled her eyebrows. She knew that Allison had a thing with the Stilinski boys best friend, so she took the opportunity to tease the brunette whose eyes widened comically.
"Wha- who? I-I don't have a secret lover." Allison stuttered, blushing as she faced her new-found friend; who continued to smirk and roll her eyes.
"Oh yeah sure, but you want him to be." Crystal muttered jokingly and turned back to see the Lacrosse players huddled around Coach Finstock as he continued to shout far too loudly, and blow his whistle more than necessary.
"U-uh I don't even know him that much, I mean he's sweet and stuff but I still don't know him that well." Allison admitted and shook her head, looking down to her lap and fumbled with her fingers.
"Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't recall talking about anyone in particular. " Said the Thomson girl, her eyebrows raising as Allison's already blushed cheeks turned an even brighter pink color.
"Okay, okay, you got me. His name is Scott, and he asked me to go to Lydia's party on Friday... Which is tonight, oh god," Allison's eyes widened as she came to the realisation. Crystal chuckled.
"Ah, so he actually has a name. I was getting sick of calling him 'puppy eyes' all the time." Said Crystal, her eyes scanning the field. Allison gave her a weird look, but couldn't help the smile that appeared on her face as she shook her head.
"So I'm guessing 'family night' was a total lie then?" Crystal rubbed her hands together in attempt to heat them up, but failed to do so as she proceeded to stuff them in her pockets.
"Total lie." The Argent girl admitted, nodding her head as Crystal pursed her lips, silently appreciating the tall brunette even more.
Crystal noticed the Stilinski boy's usual spot on the bench was empty, but instead he was standing on the field as Coach Finstock continued to shout ridiculously loud. She couldn't help but wonder if he would get the chance to play today, rather than sitting on the bench like he did all day yesterday.
The game began, and the players started passing to one another. The boy known as Scott proceeded to catch the ball and make a dash for the goal; only to be knocked to the ground by Jackson.
Coach Finstock blew the whistle, earning a place in the centre by Jackson and Scott as the crouched, head to head. Scott picked the ball up in his stick then ran, swiftly passing the other players and dodging them. The next thing that happened, had Crystal questioning if he was actually a lacrosse player or a ballerina.
Scott suddenly jumped in to the air, doing a front flip over the heads of three opponents and scored the goal. Crystal and Allison shot up clapping and cheering, a log with the rest of the observers. The small brunette smirked to herself as she watched Jackson take his helmet off, glaring at the back of Scott's head as he threw his helmet to the ground.
"McCall! Get over here!" Coach Finstock shouted. Scott done as told.
"What in god's name was that? This is a Lacrosse field! What, are you trying out for the gymnastics team?" Coach scolded, earning the attention of literally everyone there. Crystal snickered under her breath, starting to like Coach Finstock already.
"No coach," Scott said, looking very confused.
"What the hell was that?" Coach pointed his finger at Scott, whose eyes widened comically.
"I-I don't know I-I just tried to make the shot," Scott stuttered, visibly gulping.
"Yeah, well you made the shot, and guess what," Coach paused, patting Scotts shoulder. Allison and Crystal shot each other confused glances.
"Your starting buddy, you made first line." Cheers erupted through the small crowd of observers. Scott was grinning like an idiot and bouncing on the balls of his feet like a five year old kid.
Crystal noticed the only person not cheering was none other than the Stilinski boy, who sat in his usual spot on the bench, rubbing his chin. Crystal couldn't help but think he could possibly be jealous.
Crystal wasn't going to lie, she was confused as to how this Scott kid could be that good at Lacrosse. And judging by the look on the Stilinski boys face, which was pure concern, he probably wasn't ever good at Lacrosse. She shook her head at the absurd thoughts, shrugging it off for the time being.
Not long after, Crystal found herself at her locker gathering books for her next class which was History. She placed her warm head on the cool metal and sighed, wishing she was still in bed. Footsteps and voices could be heard beside her, causing her curious mind to look up.
There, only a few feet away, was Scott and Stiles. Both of them continued to take small glances at the girl, who furrowed her eyebrows and shuffled around her locker for the huge History book that her teacher insisted on giving her.
Scott pushed the boy in Crystal's direction, and said boy just glared at his best friend, muttering threats under his breath as he plucked the courage to walk up to her. Finally, he did.
Crystal smiled at him as he approached. Slightly chuckling under her breath at his tinted red cheeks.
"Uh, Criss... Hi. I-I was uh, wondering if you where uh, g-going to the party tonight?" The boy stuttered slightly and fumbled with his fingers.
"Um, I think so, Lydia will probably make me go anyways," She nodded and shut her locker leaning against it. The boy just nodded, looking as if he was struggling to say the next words.
He took a deep breath and said,
"Well...uh, since your--uh, cars still kinda sitting at the s-side of the road and stuff, m-maybe I-I could uh, I don't know, pick you up? N-not as a date or anything." He rambled on, his face turning a bright red color. Crystal chuckled.
"Cool, yeah that's cool." She nodded and shrugged.
His face lit up for a brief second and he blurted out, "Really?" In a squeaky voice. Crystal raised her eyebrows and purses her lips.
He instantly coughed and said, "Oh uh yeah, hm-- cool." He shrugged, his voice an octave lower than before as he tried to lean against the locker beside him, but his arm slipped and he almost fell to the ground. The boy stood up, quickly regaining composure as he looked around in order to see if anyone saw.
"Cool." Crystal smiled, closing the door of her locker, hugging her book to her chest as she turned on her heel; walking down the hall.
"Pick me up at eight, Stilinski." Crystal yelled over her shoulder, as she continued to walk down the nearly deserted hall.
🌙
After Lydia dropped Crystal off home, she walked through the front door to find Aunt Jenna in the kitchen infront of a very smoky oven, attempting to get the smoke away with a dish towel.
"What the hell is going on? What are you doing?" Crystal scurried over to the window and opened it, in attempts to let the smoke out.
"Making dinner, what does it look like?" Jenna asked turning to face Crystal, her blonde hair up in a bun as she wiped her forehead.
Cooking had never been one of Jenna's many talents, it was always Crystals father, David, who knew how to cook, hell Crystal used to make her father her famous spaghetti that he seemed to love and claimed was his favourite. Although, the girl knew he only said this to make the girl feel better. But Jenna, however, couldn't toast a peice of bread to save her life.
"Uh, like your trying to create a fire hazard, or burn down the whole house for that matter." Crystal snickered, earning a glare from Jenna.
"Ha ha, very funny Criss. I am perfectly capable of cooking a normal meal for my niece." Jenna stated proudly, straightening her posture and placing her hands on her hips.
"Mhm." Crystal hummed with raised eyebrows. Jenna slouched her shoulders back down and sighed,
"Ill just order pizza."
"Already have it on speed dial."
🌙
"So, are you going to Lydia's party?" Jenna asked taking a bite of her slice of pizza. They where now sitting on the couch with the box of pepperoni pizza between them, watching 'Keeping Up With The Kardashians'.
The only reason Crystal watched this was because, well Jenna wanted to, and because she found it absolutely hilarious when Kim Kardashian lost her ear ring in the ocean. Absolutely priceless. Literally.
"Well, I'm pretty sure if I didn't, then Lydia would burn me alive. So I pretty much have no choice." Crystal sighed, throwing her crust back in the box.
"She only lives next door, Crissy. You don't have to say for long." Said Jenna, wiping her hands on a napkin.
"Oh, no, it's at her boyfriend Jackson's house. You know, the one with the Porsche." Crystal chuckled slightly, taking a sip of her soda and crossing her legs on the couch.
"Ah I see, it shouldn't be that bad, I used to love high school parties." Jenna announced, earning an eye roll from Crystal.
"I really don't want to hear about your high school hook up stories, so if you need me, I'll be upstairs." Crystal got up from the couch and made her way towards the stairs.
Once she was in her bedroom, she shut the door and grabbed her phone from the nightstand to see she had two missed calls from Lydia. She chuckled and pressed the phone to her ear after clicking on Lydia's name.
"No need to call back, I'm already outside," Lydia hung up the phone and there was a ding at the door. Crystal walked to the top of the stairs to see Lydia standing at the front door with Jenna walking away from it.
"Lydia's here." Her aunt yelled.
Lydia stepped through the door and shut it behind her, a smirk on he face as she walked up the stairs towards Crystal.
"Lets do this."
🌙
The party started in twenty minutes, and Crystal found herself standing infront of the mirror, continuously pulling down the hem of her dress as it continued to rise up.
Lydia had left around ten minutes ago to finish getting ready. The strawberry blonde had picked out a black off the shoulder dress for the brunette, who rolled her eyes when the red head pulled it out of a Macy's bag. Crystal insisted on wearing her black converse, and won the battle once Lydia gave up arguing. It wasn't something she would wear, she would rather wear jeans and t-shirt, or something comfortable; but Lydia wasn't having it.
On the bright side, however, at least it wasn't neon pink.
After spraying a little bit of perfume on herself that vaguely smelled like coconuts, the girl grabbed her jacket, along with her bag and walked downstairs to see Jenna standing there.
"Wait, how are you getting there? I thought your car was out of gas?" Jenna questioned as she placed her hands on her hips, something glinting in her eye as she stared at her niece.
Crystal shifted on her feet uncomfortably. Trying her best not to let the heat rise to her cheeks.
"I'm getting picked up." Was all she said, her voice steady as she stared back at her aunt.
"By who?" Jenna continued to interrogate, smirking slightly.
"A friend."
"What friend?"
"Just a friend."
"The blue jeep boy?"
"No." Crystal lied too quickly. She could see Jenna's smirk widen as she raised her eyebrows.
Suddenly there was a honk outside and Crystal jumped off the stairs, pecking her aunt on the cheek.
"Gotta go don't wan't to be late!" She faked enthusiasm, making a mad dash for the door.
Once the teenager stepped outside, she was greeted by a cold wind. The girl shrugged her jacket on and quickly walked down towards the blue jeep. She smiled at the boy once she opened the door and climbed inside.
"What's up, Stilinski." She nodded and saluted. His mouth hung open for a second whilst he stared at her. Crystal raised her eyebrows as she placed her seatbelt on, asking if he was okay when he didn't respond. The boy quickly recomposed himself before coughing.
"U-uh f-fine, just g-great." He nodded rapidly and started the engine. Crystal smiled to herself at how nervous he seemed.
The car ride was silent, apart from the rather loud hum of the engine as they sped down a dark road.
"So, what's up with you and your friend Scott?" Crystal asked, causing Stiles to jump in his seat and snap his head towards the girl.
"W-what do y-you mean?" He asked in a hesitant voice, his eyes growing wide.
"I mean, you didn't seem too excited about him making first line. I thought you'd be pretty happy," The girl stated, looking at him expectantly.
Stiles was a bit taken back by that statement, he wasn't expecting it to be that. So, with his creative mind, he did the next think that came to mind.
"Oh uh that, h-he uh, tends to get a little violent, ya know, anger issues." He lied. Crystal furrowed her eyebrows. Anger issues? Damn, she would have to warn Allison on that one.
"Oh," was all the girl said, curling a piece of hair behind her ear.
"U-uh, you uh look, really nice. Well more than nice, you definitely look better than nice." The boy blushed as he spoke those words.
"Oh, thank you." Her own blush appearing on her cheeks. She took in his appearance, seeing he looked
"Well, you look rather handsome too, trying to impress a certain strawberry blonde girl, Mr. Stilinski?" Crystal chuckled at his expression. His eyes widened and he didn't get a chance to say anything else, as Jackson's house came in to view.
It was completely packed. The whole school was there, even seniors were there. Stiles parked at the side of the road and stepped out of the jeep quickly, almost tripping over his own feet as he scurried over to Crystal's side and opened the door for her.
Crystal furrowed her eyebrows at the gesture, however a huge grin appeared on her face as he stood there, the door opened wide for her. She unbuckled her seatbelt and stepped out, wrapping her jacket around herself even more as the wind hit her.
"And they say chivalry is dead." Crystal chuckled as Stiles closed the door, a smile on his face as he stuffed his hands in his own pockets. Crystal rolled her eyes playfully and looped her arm in his and dragged him towards the house, hoping that it would be warm in there. Stiles eyes widened, and he almost tripped over his own feet when the girl dragged him up the porch steps and in to the warm, crowded house.
Music was blasting, people were drinking and laughing. It was a typical high school party, minus the girls who think they're strippers and grind on anything with a heartbeat. Stiles tapped her shoulder, and she looked up at him.
"Um, do you, uh, want anything to drink?" The Stilinski boy half-shouted over the music.
Crystal smiled. "Oh, yeah. Just a soda, thank you." The girl unhooked her arm from Stiles' and shrugged her jacket off. The Stilinski boy nodded and told her he'd be back in a second. The brunette was left standing alone, her arms folded across her chest as she watched everyone around her.
Someone in particular caught her eye. It was Allison, and a shy looking Scott trailing behind her with a huge grin on his face. Allison noticed the brunette and waved, walking over to her with Scott following.
"Hey Criss! Oh uh-- this is Scott, Scott this is Criss." She smiled motioning between the two.
Scott nodded, "Hey."
Crystal smirked and raised an eyebrow, "nice to finally meet you, Scott, I've heard a lot about you."
Allison's eyes widened as she stared at Crystal. Crystal wiggled her eyebrows as Allison covered her face with her hands. Scott only blushed, a deep red taking place on his cheeks. Crystal just grinned, enjoying the feeling of making people uncomfortable.
"O-oh, uh, nice to-- nice to meet you too." The boy stuttered, stuffing his hands in his pockets. Crystal nodded, this time a genuine smile played on the girls lips.
Allison cleared her throat, "Well uh, we where gonna go outside, if you wanna join us?"
"Is that okay?" Allison turned to Scott, as if asking for permission. He nodded, a smile playing on his lips. Crystal shook her head.
"Oh, no it's fine, I'll just stay here." The girl smiled, knowing that Scott was obviously too shy to say no. She could tell that he wanted some alone time with the Argent girl. Allison smiled, and after saying a small goodby to Crystal, they walked away and out of sight.
A tap on the shoulder caused the Thomson girl to turn around, a grin appearing on her face as she came face to face with Stiles, a red plastic cup in his hands as he smiled sheepishly.
"Thank you," Crystal took the cup from his hands and brought it to her lips. He smiled back and brought his own to his lips.
"So u-uh, parties not your thing?" He asked the girl.
"Hmm, nah, not really. To be honest I'm only here so that I won't end up getting beheaded by Lydia." The girl chuckled, sipping on her drink.
"N-Neither, I only came to keep an eye on Scott." He explained, eyeing the crowd of drunk teenagers.
The brunette raised a brow, "Why would you need to look after Scott?" She asked, confusion visible on her features.
He froze, trying to come up with a plausible lie as Crystal stared at him expectantly.
"O-oh uh, h-he uh, didn't...take his meds! Yeah his u-uh his anger issue meds. Yeah." He said, relief flowing through him as the brunette shrugged it off and turned back to the crowd of teenagers.
However, Something caught the brunette's eye, it was Scott.
He was stumbling away from Allison, his face contorted into pain as he clutched his head. Crystal's eyes widened as she stepped towards the boy. "Scott?"
Stiles noticed this too and he stepped towards his best friend,
"Hey uh Scott, you okay man?" He asked him.
Scott continued to push past the crowds of teenagers as he made his way towards the front door.
Stiles turned to the brunette,
"U-uh im so sorry i-"
"It's okay, Stilinski. Go." She pushed him towards the door and he nodded his head, sprinting after his best friend.
Crystal noticed Allison running out after him too, but he was already gone. Crystal followed the Argent girl until she was outside, watching as Scott and Stiles sped away in their own cars.
"Allison, you okay? What happened?" Crystal placed a hand on the brunette's shoulder, and in return the Argent girl turned around, her eyes wide.
"I-i don't know he just took off."
"Allison, Crystal," Crystal turned to see a very hot guy standing behind her and Allison. Crystal's eyes widened. Well he is definitely easy on the eyes. Seriously, is he a male model or something? He could definitely be a stripper. And she would definitely pay serious money to watch him take his shirt off.
"I'm a friend of Scott's. My name is Derek." He said. Crystal furrowed her eyebrows.
"Aren't you a bit old to be hanging around with teenagers? Not to be rude or anything but I have the cops on speed dial." Crystal waved her phone in the strangers face, earning an elbow to the rib cage by Allison, who gave her a pointed look as if to say shut the hell up. To Crystal's surprise, the guy chuckled.
"He asked me to give you two a ride home." The man said, a small smile on his face. The small brunette had to shake her legs to stop herself from literally falling. She couldn't deny that this guy was seriously hot, but the gut feeling in her stomach told her that this was a seriously bad idea. She knew not to trust anyone, even if they did claim to be a friend of her best friend's boyfriend.
"Um... No thanks." Crystal said. However, Allison nodded and smiled, grabbing Crystal's hand and leading her to the Derek guys car. Crystal's eyes widened as she looked at Allison as if she had grown two heads. Was she seriously going to trust this guy? The guy that appeared out of literally nowhere and claimed to be the friend of a sixteen year old boy? Crystal wondered if that's the reason why Allison was so quick to trust him.
Crystal clutched on to Allison's arm as they both sat in the car. She felt very uncomfortable, due to the fact that the guy just drove without asking where they lived. Crystal clutched her phone with her free hand, ready to call anyone that she needed. She regretted the decision of actually getting in to the car after it was already done. The only thing running through her mind was the fact she was probably going to be murdered. Allison turned and smiled politely at Crystal, then shrugged her jacket off, causing Crystal to lose her grip. The Thomson girl bit her lip anxiously.
Once arriving at the Argent girls house, Allison left without another word, just a casual thanks. As soon as Allison closed the door, Crystal whipped her head around to face Derek, who had a glare plastered on his face.
"How do you know where she lives?" The girl asked, her hand on the door handle, ready to jump out incase this guy tries anything.
"Small town." Was all he said, before turning the engine back in and speeding down the road. Crystal felt panic spread through her body.
"You aren't Scott's friend."
"And you can't help him." Derek said, turning a corner which lead to Crystal's street, however she was to confused to even comprehend that right now.
"Help him with that? What do you mean?" Crystal frowned, staring at Derek's piercing green eyes through the rear-view mirror. He just continued to look at the road in front of him.
"You can't help him. Only I can." Derek stated in a monotoned voice as he came to a stop in front of Crystal's house. She clutched her bag in her hand, using the other one to hold on to the door handle. The realisation came to mind that Derek could possibly be talking about the 'anger issues' that Stiles told her about, but she proceeded to push the questions further incase she missed something.
"What are you talking about?" She asked, sincere curiosity clouding her thoughts. Derek huffed out loud and turned to face her, his voice raising slightly.
"You know exactly what im talking about, I saw you at the party with that Stiles kid."  He snapped. Crystal's eyes widened comically and she opened the door to her right, but before she left, she turned round to face Derek again.
"I'm not trying to get involved in whatever the hell is wrong with him, but I intend to find out what it is."
Slamming the car door shut, the girl hugged her jacket tighter around her frame as she quickly walked towards her front door, hearing Derek speed off down the street. Without a second thought, the girl sprinted to her room, not bothering to answer Jenna back as she called her nieces name. Crystal's heart raced as she closed her bedroom door behind her. She tossed her converse off and threw them in to the corner of her room, all the while trying to take her jacket off at the same time.
There was something wrong with Scott McCall. To be honest, Crystal didn't buy that anger issues crap that Stilinski told her, she knew that there was a bigger issue at hand. Anger issues can't just miraculously make you better at Lacrosse.
When Lydia drove Crystal home from school earlier that day, the brunette had asked her strawberry blonde friend if the McCall boy had always been that good at Lacrosse. Lydia chuckled and said,  'hes never set foot off the bench untill now, he's always sat there with his little fidgety friend.'
Crystal made herself a promise that she would do anything to find out. If there was anything that Crystal didn't back down on, it was the determination to keep a promise; even if it was only one she made to herself. There was a rumor that Scott was apparently on steroids, well a rumor that Jackson had spread. However realistic and possibly correct that theory was, she wouldn't believe it.
A chime of the doorbell brought Crystal out of her thoughts. She assumed that it could be the delivery guy with takeout, but her assumption was proven incorrect as the first chime was followed my multiple more chimes.
"Criss, it's for you!" Jenna called, causing Crystal to furrow her eyebrows. If she was correct, it was already past ten and she wasn't expecting anyone to be here this late.
She trudged downstair, her limbs feeling like jelly as she appeared at the bottom of the staircase. Jenna stepped aside, opening the door wider to reveal a very panicked looking Stiles as he panted heavily. Jenna winked at her niece and strode off to the kitchen, earning a glare from Crystal. The aforementioned teenage girl faced Stiles, her eyebrows furrowing as she scratched the back of her neck.
"What are you doing here, I thought you were with Scott?" Crystal tilted her head to the side, watching as Stiles face contorted from panic into relief.
"Oh thank god." Stiles said, bending down to place his hands on his knees as he continued to gulp for air.
"Uh, you okay there? What are you doing here?" The girl asked again, placing her hand on her hip as Stiles stood up straight.
"O-oh, uh..." Stiles racked his brain for an explanation. "Just ch-checking to see if you got home alright. But obviously your, uh, okay."
Stiles internally cheered, at least that part was the truth. He couldn't exactly blurt that he was here because his best friend, in the middle of shifting in to a man-eating monster; revealed to him that Derek, who just so happened to be the one to drive Allison and Crystal home, was a man-eating monster himself. Yup, that doesn't work.
"Oh, yeah, Scott's way older friend Derek drove me and Allison home. You left so suddenly, is Scott okay?." The girl asked, leaning against the door frame.
"So Allison's okay then?" Stiles asked, ignoring the girls previous question. Crystal furrowed her eyebrows, for what seemed the twentieth time that day.
"Well, yeah, I'd hope so...why wouldnt she be?" Crystal crossed her arms over her chest.
"Oh-- uh no reason." The Stilinski boy sighed.
Crystal looked at him peculiarly and sighed, "So that's what you came for? To see if I was okay?" She asked, a faint smile on her face.
Stiles face seemed to heat up, and he noticed that he was staring for far too longer than appropriate. He cleared his throat, "O-oh yeah, uh, do you, uh, need a ride to school on Monday? Y-you know, like, since your car-"
The boy was interrupted when Crystal held up her hand, chuckling. "Oh uh, no thanks, Jenna's sending for a tow truck tomorrow, but thank you anyway."
Jenna, who heard the whole conversation, shook her head in disappointment at the oblivious girl.
"Oh. Y-yeah, no, of course. Yeah. Okay. I guess that I should get going, y'know? U-uh, I guess I'll see you around?" Stiles began to walk backwards slightly, but failed in doing so once he tripped over his feet; however he skilfully recovered after flailing his arms around and regaining balance. Crystal ran a hand over her face, a small smile playing on her lips.
"See ya around, Stilinski." She smirked and saluted. The boy smiled and waved.
"Bye Criss."
Closing the door, Crystal closed her eyes and leaned her back against it, sighing. The sound of someone clearing their throat caused the teenage girl to snap her eyes open, jumping, which resulted in hitting her elbow against the door. She cried out in pain and clutched her elbow, sending a glare towards her aunt.
"God, Jenna! Don't do that! I think I just had a minor heart attack." Crystal held a hand over her heart, feeling it rapidly beat under her rib cage.
"Is that the jeep boy?" Jenna questioned, raising an eyebrow as she placed her hands on her hips.
"He's the Sheriff's son." Crystal stated evenly.
Jenna nodded, pursing her lips as she folded her arms across her chest. "What's his name?"
Crystal glanced at the stairs awkwardly, contemplating wether she would have enough time to make a mad dash for them. However, she gave up and looked down to her feet, saying his name. It felt foreign on her tongue, due to the fact that she hasn't actually said his name before.
"Stiles."
Jenna nodded approvingly. "Hes cute." Turning on her heel, the blonde thirty-something year old sauntered off in to the kitchen.
Crystal sighed, letting her head fall against the door.
What a long freaking night.
