Secret Life
Gem x Impulse
Gem cried out in frustration as she fruitlessly chased Tango around the server. She was never going to catch Tango like this she was on foot, and he was one one of the fastest horses on the server. Her hair blew out behind her as she ran, and she could hear the confused yells of Impulse and Etho as they followed Bdubs and her in their fruitless attempt to kill Tango. She suddenly stopped and pulled out her bow, fitting it with an arrow before letting it loose in Tango's direction. It missed, and Tango cried out in fear, urging his horse to run faster. Gem let out a ragged breath as her target ran right over the hill and out of sight. She dropped her bow uselessly to her side as Bdubs came up from behind her, and she turned around with a frown on her face.
"He got away!" Bdubs sighed, and Gem nodded, tucking her weapons away.
"We'll have to set a trap for him." She decided, sweeping her flyaway hair out of her eyes.
"Or we could use a horse." Bdubs suggested as Gem pulled out her braid and began to re-do it. "We could catch him if we rode horses."
"We just need one more person. . ." Gem mused, and Bdubs patted her on the shoulder.
"We'll find someone, but now we need horses." The shorter decided, and Gem sighed in agreement.
"I volunteer!" Someone cried suddenly to their left.
Gem and Bdubs turned around to see Impulse standing there with a determined look on his face. Gem shook her head desperately, but Impulse didn't notice. A bloodthirsty look came over Bdubs' face as he regarded Impulse. He was a red name. He wanted to kill Impulse, and she could tell.
"To be a horse?" Bdubs asked, confused.
"I will be your extra person!" Impulse said with a smile, and Gem shook her head, trying to stop him.
"Impulse you don't want this heat." She promised as Bdubs slowly reached his hand down to his sword hilt.
"You said you needed another person, and I'll be that person!" The brunette said with a smile.
"Impy no-" Gem started only to be cut off by Bdubs.
"Are you sure you want the heat?" Bdubs yelled, and Impulse nodded.
"I want the heat!" Impulse cried back, and Gem wished there was something she could do to stop this.
Impy I'm sorry. Gem thought as Bdubs drew his sword.
Bdubs took a hesitant step closer and looked to Gem to see if he could do this. Gem sighed and nodded, giving Bdubs permission to ask again. Gem walked over to stand in front of Impulse, and she reached out, taking his hands in her own.
"Do you want this heat!" Bdubs yelled, and Impulse nodded eagerly, pulling his hands out of Gem's.
"Impulse no!" She whispered, trying to stop him.
"You get the heat!" Bdubs cried, swinging his diamond sword at Impulse.
Bdubs' blade hit Impulse in the shoulder, and Gem winced as she saw his shirt burn away where the blade hit him. His wound began to bleed as he doubled over falling onto his knees. Gem looked up at Impulse's eyes to see the pain lacing his expression and wished that she could stop what was going to happen. Bdubs swung again, and his sword flew in an arc, hitting Impulse in his stomach. Gem reached her hand helplessly out towards Impulse as he fell over his body, disappearing as he respawned wherever he'd last slept.
Oh, Impulse. She sighed as she stared at the spot where he had been. Why?
"I did it!" Bdubs cried, grinning at Gem.
"Good job!" Gem smiled softly, masking the horror she felt after witnessing Impulse's death.
Bdubs grinned, sheathing his now bloody sword away as Gem turned towards her Cherry Mountain. Bdubs noticed where her gaze was directed, and he smiled.
"Another person to help us!" Bdubs said with a laugh as Gem turned back to face him.
"Here, I'll go back to the cherry mountain and get Impulse." Gem decided as she patted Bdubs on the back.
"What about me?" Bdubs asked, and she smiled sinisterly, feeling the power of her task grow in her heart.
"Gather things that we can use to make a trap." Gem said, and Bdubs nodded. "That's the only way we'll be able to get a kill."
"Okay." Bdubs agreed, turning away and speed walking in the other direction, talking very fast under his breath. "So we need TNT, some minecarts, maybe powered rails, a skulk sensor would be useful. . ."
After Bdubs left, Gem set off in the direction of the mountain, and she braced herself for Impulse's anger when she got to her home. He would be mad, Gem had just stood by and watched as Bdubs killed him. She climbed the stairs slowly, half hoping that Impulse wasn't even there when she made it. She reached the top and opened up the gates slowly, walking her way into their garden-esque home. Gem walked up to Impulse's house and hesitated before knocking on the door. She waited for a few moments before carefully pushing the door open.
What she saw inside shocked her, Impulse sat on the edge of his bed, his arm and stomach torn up and burned. Gem rushed over to his side, and he looked up suddenly, noticing her for the first time since she'd entered his house.
"Hey, Gem." He whispered weakly as she gasped, inspecting his wounds.
"Impulse!" She gasped, her breath slightly strangled as she looked him over.
He was in rough shape, his shoulder was completely burned up, and there was a dark gash along his stomach that was still bleeding a bit. She gently wrapped her arm around Impulse's shoulder, and the brunette sighed, leaning into her embrace. She quickly pulled away, though, when Impulse winced in pain after she brushed up against his burns.
"Oh Impy. . ." She sighed, and a single tear dripped out of her eyes as she pulled out a small bottle of water from her pocket. "Why did I let this happen!"
Impulse gasped and hissed in pain as she poured the water over his wounds, and he laughed softly. Gem didn't know what it was he found amusing about the situation but he was laughing all the same.
"You know I didn't expect Bdubs to have fire aspect on his sword, but it worked effectively." Impulse tried to smile through the pain he was feeling, but he failed, and his expression turned out more like a grimace.
Gem shook her head as she handed Impulse a healing potion, and he drank it gratefully with a sigh.
"Why would you volunteer?" She sighed as he leaned his head back. "I told you to stay away from me this session."
Impulse smiled as Gem buried her face into her hands as he laid his hand on her shoulder, pulling her into his side. She leaned into the touch, and he gently began to run his fingers through her hair in a calming manner. She suddenly leaned away from Impulse, and she pulled out her task book and held it out to Impulse with shaking hands.
Impulse reached over and took the book, opening it with caution. He slowly read through the book, and when he was finished, Gem gave him a look of 'well at least you know now' and he grimaced.
"You needed my help." Impulse said, and Gem looked up to his eyes and shook her head at the sincerity in them.
"Impy. . ." She sighed as he cupped her cheek. "You can't do this to me."
"Hey it's fine." Impulse reassured her as she shook her head. "I made my own decision."
"But I didn't even try to stop Bdubs." Gem whispered as Impulse ran his thumb over her cheek.
"It's okay, Gem." Impulse said, leaning closer. "I wanted to help you."
"Why?" She sighed, and he laughed, pressing his lips to her.
Gem smiled as he drew her in closer, and she cupped his face, running her thumb over his cheek. Impulse gently ran his fingers through her hair as she sighed. The kiss was short and sweet, and when they broke apart, they both wore stupid smiles on their faces.
"You should've done that back on Hermitcraft Impy." Gem whispered, and he laughed softly. "No seriously, why would you save it for the death game?"
"I have no idea." Impulse said, and Gem kissed him gently on the cheek. "I guess the death game made me realize how much I loved you."
"You are so sappy." Gem sighed, and Impulse grinned.
"You love me for it." Impulse said with a wink, and Gem blushed softly.
"Shut up." She said, not meaning it at all. "Now do you want to help me kill Tango?"
"I thought you'd never ask." He smiled, and she grabbed his hand, helping him to his feet.
The two walked out of Impulse's house hand in hand and descended the mountain, ready to take the world by storm. The Zombie Plague would destroy the small amount of peacetched the server had, but Impulse and Gem would be right in the middle of it all, loving every second of it. Together.
I like this one, but I might just be biased because Gem. Zombie Plague™, heh, that made me laugh, and I wrote it. Anyway. . . Bye!
