I wake up slowly. I let out a breath. At least, I think I'm awake. I hear the noises of the forest. The leaves rattling against each other. The birds call. It's flooding in like it so often does. I can't tell if I'm dreaming if I'm awake. I shakily stand up.
"Lan Zhan?" I call.
"I'm here." I hear him call.
I nod.
"Did you go somewhere?" I ask.
"Yes." He says.
I don't really care if I want to know.
"How do you feel?" He asks.
"A little better." I stifle a cough.
"Wei Ying you should go to Lotus Pier." He says.
"Why?" I ask.
"To heal." He says.
"I'm fine." I say.
I can feel him giving me a look. Luckily, I can't see. I grip my stick.
"We should keep moving." I say.
"Alright but let me look at your wounds." He says.
I almost choke.
"I'm not wounded." I lie.
"Please let me look at your injuries." He says.
I let out a breath.
"Fine." I drop off my stick.
I hear his arm reach out. I grab his hand.
"My mask is off limits." I say.
