"Quiet." He says.
I hear him grab something from the cliff. It smells so earthy and smells clean from the constant water. I hear it squish. I bite my lip. I'm a little nervous. I have no idea what's going to happen. I wish I could see what he's doing. It's not that I don't trust him. I just don't trust myself.
"Hold still." He says.
I nod. Or at least I think I nod. He puts something on my hand, directly onto the wound. I wince. It feels soft but still a little grainy. Why is he putting clay onto my wound? I don't know. I wanted to ask but I'm sure there's a method to this.
"Does it hurt?" He asks.
"No. Not really." I wince.
"It's okay." He says.
I push away from him. That startles me. That phrase.
"Okay? How?" I point at my face.
How is it going to be okay? My eyes were ripped from my skull. I'm weak. Injured. Pathetic. I've sunken so slow. I bite my lip. How does he know it'll be okay? How can things be okay? I don't get it. How can everything be okay? The witch is still out there. Yanli is going to be shocked. And I still can't find my mask.
"Wei Ying." Lan Zhan takes my hands.
He places something in them. I feel around. My mask.
"Thanks." I say turning.
