It turns out that Hassan managed to escape from the cartel's safe-house just in time when the team almost managed to capture him. And in exchange, the army already set an ambushed for the team. Luckily, Alejandro knew the area well. So he managed to direct all of you to get out of there even though the team had to stop several times to shoot the enemies who managed to follow.
And for fuck's sake, when you all are cornered in a cliff, Alejandro made you jump from the cliff and into the river. If it's not for Ghost who pushed you down, you can't do it on your own.
And thanks for Soap who kind enough to pull you up to the surface. Because hell, this is the first time you have to jump from that high and unfortunately your head hit a rock somewhere in the river. However, you manage to keep your grip tight around your weapon.
The Colonel immediately give another order to keep going, telling to use the rock as a cover. While another batch of cartel slowly appear near the river.
Graves has shown no signs of coming yet. It makes you wonder if he really comes around this time or not.
"Chamber, it's not the time for spacing out!!" Ghost's shout quickly pull you back to reality as your hand automatically aiming for another cartel that come your way.
You shake your head as you don't want to think about it anymore, what's important now is for you to get out of thus situation first. After a few moments of walking along the river while shooting at the enemies, a bridge began to appear in sight. But it's not a pleasant view when there are multiple vehicles already park there.
"Vehicles on the bridge." Ghost quickly informs.
"They're not ours!" The Colonel immediately said back when his eyes quickly scan the vehicles. "Fuck-! It's the army!" He shouted.
"Get to cover!" The Lieutenant gives order and the four of you immediately looking for a cover.
The army shooting at your direction, making it hard to move to another space except you want a bullet hole in your body. You tried to think about something useful seeing how many the army begins to appear on the bridge. Your mind spiralling through all the clue you can get from your memory. You almost ran out of ammo from all the shooting.
"This is Shadow-1! Engaging the bridge north of your position. Danger close!"
Never once did you imagine you would be happy when you heard Graves' voice but now. You let out a breath you never knew you've been holding for so long.
"Who the hell is that?" Alejandro shouts as he takes another army down then get back to cover and reloading his gun.
"Commander Graves. Shadow Company." You breath out as you reload your gun as well.
Ghost glancing at you direction for a second before he's back to focusing on the enemy. "They're with us." He adds.
"Shadow-1, Bravo 0-7. Good shots! Fire for effect!"
With the help from Graves' air support, the bridge fell followed by the army. Immediately neutralize the area.
"All stations, no enemy movement detected. You're clear." Graves announced after some time. "It's good to see you boys... and girl?"
You cringe at how he adds the girl but decided not to interrupt.
"Likewise, mate." Ghost replied as he stands up from his position.
The Colonel is quick to giving a direction for the team to move. "This way!" You followed not too far from Alejandro. While Soap sticks close to you and Ghost is behind to cover.
"Graves, we've located a vehicle for exfil." He said once again to the comms. Informing Shadow Company about our next move.
"Roger that. Be advised, we got a possible hit on Hassan, two clicks north of your position."
"That's cartel land. They have a compound there." You can sense the visible annoyance in Alejandro's voice.
And not long after he said that, you finally see the vehicle.
"Load in." Ghost orders as Soap takes the shotgun and he climbs in behind. "Shadow-1, stand by..."
You have no other choice but to be seated with Ghost in behind because Alejandro wants to drive.
"Let's roll." Soap said with determined lacing his voice. His voice had become a little deeper while in a mission. Always taking them seriously and sometimes making you wonder how he can easily divide his personality when on mission and when the day off.
"You boys good to roll up Hassan with some fire from the sky?" Graves' voice said through the comms once again.
It makes the four of you looking at each other for some seconds before all of you nod in unison.
"Let's wrap this fucker up, Graves."
"Solid copy. We are pushing to the target di-rectly. Shadow-1 out."
Not long after Graves is out of the comms, you lean back against your seat as you close your eyes. Trying to slightly calm the adrenaline from before. All your clothes is wet and tightly sticking to your body. Same with others. It feels heavy. Heavier than usual because the water.
"Fuck... My head hurting like bitch." You mutter as you tried to shake the feeling.
It makes Soap immediately checking on you as he turned his body a little to look behind him. When he sees you're okay, he look ahead again. And when he's about to said something, he quickly look at you again.
"Fucking hell, y/n. Your head is bleeding."
Ghost quickly snapped his head to look at your direction. Just to see your left side, that facing him, indeed bleeding. And it is a lot.
You furrowed your brow at Soap's statement then you raise your hand to check your head. And the feeling of something sticky quickly make you pull your hand to look at it. And it's red. Bloody red.
Just now that you finally feel the rush of pain after your adrenaline subsided. And you immediately regretted your decision to relax yourself just a moment ago.
Your head throbbing, it feels like something want to crack your skull open to free itself. Like someone banging against your head. And it's not helping at all when the blood keep leaking out of the wound.
When you tried to look down and searching for bandage, a hand suddenly come to hold your head up.
"Don't." His raspy voice lowly said as he firmly holds your head up.
You have no energy left to protest, so you let Ghost do whatever he wants to do as you feel your gaze slowly become blurry. "Stay still." He's quick to say when he sees your eyelids tried to close itself.
His other hand immediately searching through his bag for a bandage when suddenly Alejandro throws some at him. "Use that, it's dry." He shortly said as his eyes focus on the road.
Ghost gives him a nod then focus to tend your wound. He grabs one of the bandage to dry your wound first before he did whatever he could to clean your wound then covering it with another bandage. Hoping it will helps to stop the bleeding.
You hiss a little when he tied a knot after he's securing the bandage around your head. Then he carefully resting your head against the seat.
"Thank you, Lt." You silently muttered as you close your eyes, having no energy left to keep them open.
"I'll tell Rudy to picks you up and take you back to base." Alejandro suddenly said which make you tried to open your eyes once again only for Ghost to place his hand on them to keep it close.
"No objection, soldier."
"No, I'm okay. It's just a scratch."
"A scratch that make you lose a lot of blood? Sure it is." Soap sarcastically replied. Teaming up with the two.
You groan at him as you let out a sigh in defeat. "Fine. But update me?" You tried to negotiate.
"Don't push your luck, sergeant." Ghost said as he finally take back his hand.
"Just an update, at least I need to hear it from you guys." You gritted your teeth as you feel yet another pain through your head.
"If it makes you rest, then fine." Alejandro gives in and you smile a little. Even though you can't open your eyes to look at him, you know he's at least glancing at you from the rearview mirror.

(A/N) I suppose to update this tomorrow, every two days. But I can't wait to show you guys the chapter when Ghost and Y/n finally make a progress, it's close. Only three or four chapters left ;)
