Narrator: Last time, Ash and Niko struggled to earn their seventh badges. Ash lost his first battle to the Cinnabar gym leader, Blaine and his Magmar. While Niko won his with his Gengar. But in one red hot rematch, Ash's Charizard took on Magmar in a fearsome fire fight! In a brilliant strategic move, Charizard unleashed a powerful Seismic Toss! Thanks to Charizard, Ash had finally won the Volcano badge he had wanted so badly. But now...
Niko: It's almost leaving! Hurry! Niko shouted as he and his friends ran at full speed.
Narrator: With Ash and Niko's seventh badges in hand, our heroes head for the next gym. But they'll have to hurry to catch the last faerie off Cinnabar Island!
Misty: Wait! Don't leave without us!
Ash: Stop the boat! Hold on! We're coming! Hey! Hold that boat!
Niko: Just a little longer!
Mew: Mew? (Huh) Mew new mew! (Look out, look) Mew shouted. Unfortunately, it came too late as a Pokémon popped out and bumped into them. Brock helps the Pokémon back up.
Brock: Wow, a Wartortle. Talk about your rare Pokémon!
Ash: A War-what-le?
Niko: A Wartortle.
Pokédex: Wartortle, the Turtle Pokémon. And the evolved form of Squirtle. Its tail is covered with a rich fur. It stores air in the fur before taking extended dives underwater.
Ash: It doesn't look smart. The Wartortle spoke in a panic trying to relay something. What's it saying? Pikachu grabs one of Ash's Pokéball.
Pikachu: Pika pika! (We need Squirtle) Squirtle materializes. The Wartortle spoke to Squirtle who seemed surprised by what it heard.
Ash: I wish I knew what they were talking about.
Niko: Wartortle is saying that there's a problem with its friends.
Ash: Oh right. I forgot you can talk to Pokémon.
Brock: Hold on. You can talk to them? Brock was surprised to hear this.
Niko: Well, kinda. I've been able to talk to them since I was little.
Misty: That's amazing.
Duplica: Sure is. It's probably why Pokémon like him so much. As they were talking, Squirtle pulled out a pair of sunglasses.
Ash: Hey! It's a pair of the Squirtle Squad sunglasses!
Brock: We haven't seen those in a while. Wartortle and Squirtle head out to sea and swim away.
Ash: Squirtle, where are you going?
Niko: Wartortle's leading Squirtle to its friends.
Brock: If that's the case, there must be trouble.
Ash: Let's grab a boat and follow them!
They all agree and create a makeshift boat and have Staryu, Goldeen, Starmie, and Poliwrath pull the boat following close behind.
Niko: We must be close now.
Ash: Still, they're sure in a hurry!
Pikachu: Pikachu. (Yeah)
Brock: Hey, guys! Look! There's an island ahead!
Duplica: I don't see it.
Ash: It's so small.
Misty: What island is it?
Brock: It's not even on this map.
Ash: Hey! It looks just like a Squirtle shell! Full speed ahead!
Unbeknownst to them, Team Rocket was following close behind in their submarine.
Jessie: It looks like those little twerps have stumbled onto something.
James: Can't you look and peddle at the same time?
Meowth: Yeah, my paws need a pause!
Squirtle and Wartortle arrive on the island followed by our heroes.
Niko: Woah! Check it out! Niko pointed at all the Wartortle and Squirtle shells laying all over the beach.
Ash: Whoa, what's going on?
Brock: They're all Squirtle and Wartortle!
Misty: Oh, I hope they're alright! Brock puts his ear to one of the shells and hears snoring.
Brock: It's okay, it's just sleeping.
Ash: I don't get it.
Niko: Hm? Hey, look. There's a really big shell over there.
Ash: You're right!
Pokédex: Blastoise, The Shellfish Pokémon. And the final evolved form of Squirtle. It has spouts extending from its shell at the top. They spray water like cannons, hard enough to pierce concrete walls.
Ash: This is our lucky day! I gotta get up close to it!
Niko: Wait for me! The two run up to Blastoise.
Brock: It's either asleep or it's practicing its Withdraw move.
Ash: I've waited such a long time to meet you, Blastoise!
Niko: It's so much bigger in person. Hm? Niko then heard a strange sound. And suddenly, he and Ash both fell asleep.
Duplica: Niko?
Eevee: Vee? (Niko)
Brock: Uh, Ash?
Misty: Ash, are you alright?
Pikachu: Pika Pi! (Ash!)
Squirtle: Squirtle! (Ash!) Squirtle goes to check on Ash, but it falls asleep too.
Misty: The same thing's happened to Squirtle, too!
Kota: Quick, we gotta get them. Our heroes pull the boys away and try to wake them up.
Brock: Ash! Ash, can you hear me? Wake up, Ash! Wake up!
Duplica: Come on, Niko! Please wake up!
Misty: Keep trying.
Brock: It's no good. They're out cold!
Misty: How could this have happened?
Kota: Not sure.
Brock: I think it has something to do with that Blastoise over there.
Eevee: Eevee! Vee Eevee Eevee! (Wait! Pikachu shock em awake) Eevee suggested.
Pikachu: Pi! (Right!) Pikachu does so and electrocuted not just Ash and Niko, but the Squirtles and Wartortles too.
Ash: Pikachu! Cut it out!
Niko: What did you do that for?!
Squirlte: Squirtle! Squirtle! (That was NOT cool)
Misty: What's the matter, Ash? Dreaming about being a Pokémon master?
Ash: I guess I did doze off.
Squirtle: Squirtle. (Same here)
Brock: And Squirtle fell asleep right after you did, Ash.
Ash: The same thing must have happened to Squirtle and Niko. I heard this sound coming from Blastoise and fell asleep. Right?
Niko: Yeah.
Squirtle: Squirtle. (Right)
Misty: What kind of sound?
Ash: Some kind of weird music that sounded kinda familiar. Misty and Brock were worried hearing that description. You all heard the weird sound too, didn't you? The Squirtles and Wartortles nod in agreement.
Misty: Well, I guess we better get going.
Pikachu: Pika. (Maybe)
Ash: We're not going anywhere until we wake up that Blastoise!
Niko: Yeah!
Misty: I was afraid of that.
Niko: But still, what could be making that sound? Niko pondered.
Kota: Not sure. But we should try to find out.
Ash: But we won't be able to do it alone. So, can I count on you to help? He asked Wartortle who agrees as well as Squirtle.
Ash: Alright, then! Let Operation: Wake Up begin! The others agree. Meanwhile, Team Rocket watched from afar.
Jessie: Looks like those brats have brought us right to a Blastoise bonanza!
James: Not to mention all those other shell-icious Pokemon!
Meowth: For a team of Pokemon thieves, this is like Fun-tasy Island!
James: Now all we hafta do is grab Blastoise before it wakes up!
Jessie: The boss will give us all promotions!
James: And the little boss will give us praise!
Niko: Okay, after talking with the others, I think I have a better idea of what happened. A few days ago, Blastoise went out for a swim and never came back. That's when you all pulled Blastoise out of the sea and onto the shore, but then you all fell asleep. That's when this Wartortle came and saw what happened. It then swam to the mainland to get help and ran into us. Is that about right?
The Wartortles and Squirtle nod.
Misty: Gee, people have searched for the Turtle Pokémon's breeding grounds for years. Could this really be it?
Brock: Imagine all the stuff I could learn about Pokemon breeding!
Duplica: Yeah, but we have to make sure Blastoise is okay first.
Brock: Well, here's your first annual physical. Brock said putting on a doctors coat.
Ash: Be careful, Brock. Brock examines Blastoise. How is it?
Brock: I don't hear a thing. But a sound was heard.
Ash: What was that?! Suddenly, Blastoise wakes up and comes out of its shell.
Misty: Blastoise is waking up! The Squirtle and Wartortle cheer seeing this.
Ash: Looks like Blastoise was asleep, too. Squirtle speaks with Blastoise who explains what happened before it fell asleep.
Ash: What's it saying? Blastoise's cannons pop out but it seemed to be stalled. What's wrong with your cannon, Blastoise?
Niko: Something must be stuck inside. Something then pops out from the cannon. Huh?
Pikachu: Pika? (What in..)
Brock: What is that thing?
Misty: Maybe that's the problem. Niko inspects the blockage as a familiar ear pokes out.
Misty: It can't be!
Brock: I hope it's not what I think it is!
Duplica: What's wrong?
Ash: What is it, guys?
Misty: Don't go near it! Just, keep it away from us, please!
Ash: Misty, how bad could it be? Suddenly, muffled singing could be heard. That's it! That's the sound me and Niko heard!
Misty: I knew it!
Brock: Jigglypuff! One by one, they all fell asleep as a certain trio get close.
Jessie: We'll grab your Pokémon in a snap!
James: Before you wake up from your nap!
Jessie: To protect the world from devastation.
James: To unite all peoples within our nation.
Jessie: To denounce the evils of truth and love.
James: To extend our reach to the stars above.
Jessie: Jessie.
James: James.
Jessie: Team Rocket, blast off at the speed of light!
James: Surrender, now, or prepare to fight!
Meowth: Meowth! Goodnight!
Jessie: Blastoise is sleeping like a baby again.
James: Grabbing Blastoise should be a breeze.
Jessie: Who wants to be the hero?
Meowth: I do! I do! As soon as Meowth volunteers, Jessie and James hid behind the fin of their sub.
James: Be our guest, Meowth.
Jessie: Best of luck.
Meowth: [sighs] 💧Meowth tiptoes toward Blastoise with rope tied to his waist. Why do I always get roped into dese things? I had ta go an' open my big Meowth!
Jessie: Don't be afraid, Meowth! We're right behind you!
James: Go get em, Tiger!
Meowth: Ya mean chicken. As he was getting closer, he heard the singing. What's dat sound? He said before falling asleep.
Jessie: Something's wrong. Quick! Reel Meowth in!
James: Aye aye, Jessie! James pulls Meowth back and he and Jessie were surprised to see him fast asleep. Meowth's out like a log!
Jessie: Wake up, Meowth! Wake up! She shouts slapping him.
James: This is no time for a catnap! James does the same.
Jessie: Probably fainted. Fraidy cat. Jessie tosses Meowth aside.
James: We've got to get that Blastoise!
Jessie: We don't need Meowth for that.
James: I don't want to get too close to that thing!
Jessie: You're obviously forgetting about our Gyarados grabber! Jessie pushes a button and out from the sub, a suction dart pops out and latches onto Blastoise which proceeds to reel it into the sub. A bullseye!
James: We got it!
Niko: Mm....ah, I feel better. Niko rubbed his eyes and realized something. AH! Oh no! He shouted.
Duplica: Hm? What's wrong, Niko? Duplica asked feeling groggy.
Ash: That was a good nap. Ash yawned. He then looks and sees Blastoise is gone. Blastoise! What happened to Blastoise?
Misty: Ash, Niko, could you two keep it down?
Ashley: Blastoise is gone!
Misty: Huh?
The Wartortle and Squirtle realize this and start panicking!
Ash: Everybody, calm down!
Brock: Don't panic! Everything's gonna be okay!
Niko: Relax!
Duplica: Panicking will only make it worse.
Pikachu: Pika Pika! (Take it easy)
Misty: Be quiet! But their attempts to calm them down failed.
Squirlte: Squirtle Squirtle. (Let me take care of it) Squirtle sprays them all with its Water Gun. Squirtle Squirtle Squirt! (Now listen up, you guys)
Squirtle gives his kind a rousing speech. Saying that it is their duty to rescue Blastoise and bring it home where it belongs.
Ash: You tell em!
Squirtle: Squirtle! (For the king) x5
Squirtle and Wartortle: Squirtle! Wartortle! (For the king) (x5)
Misty: Ash, your Squirtle's a real leader!
Ash: Well, that's what happens you've got a great trainer.
Brock: Or maybe they're just impressed by the sunglasses.
Niko: Whatever it is, it sure got their attention.
Pikachu: Pika Pi! Pika Pika! (Ash! Look at this)
Squirtle: Squirtle! (Golly) They all notice the trail Blastoise left in the sand when it was dragged off by Team Rocket.
Everyone: It's a trail!
Kota: It must have been Blastoise, only a Blastoise's shell could leave a trail this big.
Brock: Someone must've kidnapped Blastoise!
Ash: But who?
Misty: Who else could it be?
Duplica: Then we gotta find it.
Squirtle: Squirtle! (Let's go)
Squirtle and Wartortle: Squirtle! Wartortle! (Right) The Squirtle and Wartorlte follow Ash's Squirtle into the water, following the trail)
Ash: Go get em, Squirtle! You can do it! Meanwhile, below the waves as the Squirtles, Wartortles swim in search for Blastoise..)
Jessie: Success!
James: Success!
Meowth: You said it! (laughs)
James: That was as easy as picking shells off the sand!
Jessie: And all I did was push a button!
Meowth: Now we can swipe all da Pokémon we want!
James: I'll snatch more Pokémon than anyone in the world!
Jessie: So will I!
Meowth: Me too! Just then, Team Rocket came to a realization.
Jessie: I think there may be some confusion.
Meowth: Who's gonna get credit for swipin' him?
James: I think we better clear this up. Don't you?
Jessie: If you remember, I was the one who pushed the button, so I should get credit for capturing it!
Meowth: But before that, I put my nine lives on the line to grab Blastoise!
Jessie: I was the one who caught it.
James: What about me?!
Meowth: Ha! You couldn't catch a cold! Jessie and James smack Meowth.
Jessie: You stay out of this, Meowth!
James: Pokémon aren't for Pokémon! James then kicks Meowth into the wall of the sub. The impact of Meowth hitting the wall causes Jigglypuff to come out of Blastoise's cannon and causes it to start singing. It also causes the sub to start leaking.
Jessie: What's that unusual sound?
James: Whatever it is, it's very...
Jigglypuff: Jigglypuff...Jiggly...Puff...
Meowth: Relaxin'. Soon, Team Rocket falls asleep as their sub sinks to the ocean floor, only for Squirtle and the residents of Turtle Island to save it and Blastoise by pushing them to the surface where our heroes are waiting. Soon, our heroes are reviving Team Rocket, who had taken in a lot of water. The villains soon regain consciousness.
Kota: Looks like they're awake.
Ash: Are you okay?
Jessie: What kind of trick are you pulling?!
Misty: Don't you give us attitude! We just saved your slimy lives!
Jessie: I don't remember asking you to save our lives!
Duplica: We could've just left you guys there. Duplica snapped.
James: Well, I'm grateful.
Jessie: They're our mortal enemies! How dare you be grateful they saved your life! She shouts hotting James.
Ash: I kinda feel sorry for that guy.
Niko: She's nastier than a Beedrill.
Jessie: Who asked you?! Jessie looks behind her and sees all the Squirtle and Wartortle protecting their king.
Squirtle: Squirtle! (Get them) Squirtle shouts.
Jessie: They're about to attack!
James: Let's go for the ship!
Meowth: Meowth! Team Rocket runs to the sub at full speed.
Duplica: They're running away.
Brock: Good! And don't come back!
James: Sorry to disappoint you, but we're not finished!
Jessie: In fact, we're just getting started.
Meowth: Hold on to your shells! Meowth presses a button. This activates the treads on the sub and the mechanical arms while Team Rocket laughs in triumph.
Ash: This doesn't look good.
James: Let's put the pedal to the metal!
Meowth: Right!
Jessie: Well, now we'll take that Blastoise!The sub charges forward and our heroes dive out of the way while Team Rocket heads toward the residents of Turtle Island. However, they retaliate with a combined Water Gun, but it had no effect to their shock.
Misty: They won't stop!
Meowth: Of course we won't. Why should we stop when we're havin' such a Blastoise? The mechanical arms start swinging, knocking away the Pokemon guarding Blastoise as well as Ash's Squirtle.
Pikachu: Pika Pika! (Squirtle)
Ash: Squirtle, are you okay? Squirtle struggles to get up, while the residents of Turtle Island are being chased by Team Rocket.
Brock: We gotta do something to save them!
Niko: We need Blastoise! As Team Rocket continues to chase the Squirtle and Wartortle around, Ash and Niko try waking up Blastoise.
Ash: Blastoise! (x2) The Pokémon need you, Blastoise! Please, wake up! But nothing happens.
Misty: It's no use.
Niko: We can't give up! Please, Blastoise, your people need you.
Ash: Pikachu, Squirtle, get in there and use your attacks to wake Blastoise up. Pikachu and Squirtle agree. Give it your best shot!
Squirtle fires a Water Gun, and Pikachu launches a Thunder Shock that travels around the attack. The combination attack amazes our heroes.
Brock: Squirtle's Water Gun is carrying the electricity of Pikachu's Thunder Shock!
Misty: Please, wake up, Blastoise. The combo attack dislodges Jigglypuff.
Ash: It's Jigglypuff!
Niko: Wow! There really was a Jigglypuff in there! Niko said surprised. The attack ends up sending Jigglypuff inside Team Rocket's submarine.
Misty: Jigglypuff! As for Blastoise, it finally wakes up. It sees its subjects in trouble and comes to their aid by stopping the submarine in its tracks and even starts pushing it back.
Niko: Blastoise, you're up! Niko was happy.
Ash: Just in time! Team Rocket's stopped dead in its tracks!
Brock: Blastoise is the bomb!
Kota: Amazing!
Jessie: So you want to get tough, do you? Well, watch while we turn tough guy into turtle soup! Jessie uses the mechanical arms to grab Blastoise, but Blastoise grabs one of them, allowing the sub to move up a few inches.
Niko: Poliwrath! Let's lend a hand. Poliwrath materializes.
Poliwrath: Poli! (Right)
Poliwrath helps Blastoise push the submarine back, it crushed one of the mecha's arms while Blastoise punched the other, shocking Team Rocket.
Ash: Nice shot.
Niko: Okay! It's time to blast that thing outta here. Let's attack all at once. Soon, all the Squirtles and Wartorltes join Blastoise and Poliwrath.
Squirtle: Squirtle! (Ready)
Wartorle: Wartorlte! (Steady)
Squirtle: Squirtle! (Fire)
Together, the Squirtle and Wartortle launch their Water Guns at the sub. Poliwrath adds in a Hydro Pump. Blastoise prepare to fire. The combined Water Guns and Hydro Pumps send the sub up into the air, until Ash realizes something.
Ash: Hey, Squirtle! I think Jigglypuff is still inside that thing!
Meanwhile, inside the sub...
Jessie: This is like some horrible dream!Soon, Jigglypuff lands near Team Rocket and regains consciousness.
James: Speaking of dreams!
Meowth: No! Not again! Jigglypuff starts singing and Team Rocket falls asleep as the submarine lands bottom first into the sea. Squirtle and Poliwrath soon spot the sub going down and dive after it.
Ash: Squirtle, hurry!
Pikachu: Pika Pika. ("Squirtle.")
Niko: Hurry, Poliwrath. Soon, an explosion occurs under the waves, causing our heroes and the residents of Turtle Island to worry.
Misty: Are Squirtle and Jigglypuff okay?
Duplica: I hope Poliwrath is okay! Soon, the two Pokemon surface, with Jigglypuff on Squirtle's back)
Ash: Alright, fellas! You did it!
Pikachu: Pikachu! (Well done, guys)
Squirtle: Squirtle Squirtle! (It was nothing)
Poliwrath: Poli! (Yup) The two bump fists. Jigglypuff regains consciousness and prepares to sing, causing everyone to panic, though Ben manages to get his earbuds in in time)
Ash: No! Please, don't sing!
But it was too late, and everyone on the island fall fast asleep. Some time later, everyone wakes up with doodles on their faces or shells.
Pikachu: Pika? ("???")
Niko: Uh, guys?
Brock: Hey, Jigglypuff's a real Pok-asso.
Misty: I don't think this is funny! I look like a cartoon character! The residents of Turtle Island laugh
Ash: A cartoon character?! Like that could ever happen! Our heroes hop in their boat and bid the residents of Turtle Island farewell, heading back to Cinnabar Island to catch a ferry to Ash and Niko's next gym battles.
Narrator: So, after waking Blastoise, our heroes leave the island of turtle Pokémon in peace. Now Ash and Niko are looking ahead to their 8th badges and their next adventure.
Meanwhile, out in the ocean, Team Rocket is floating on the wreckage of their destroyed sub and they soon awake to find Jigglypuff's handiwork on their faces.
Team Rocket: This was all your fault!
James: I'm getting sick of all this humiliation.
Jessie: I'm getting sick of always losing.
Meowth: And I'm gettin' seasick.
Team Rocket: Looks like Team Rocket's drifting off again.
