I'm sorry everyone, I've been busy with exams lately, so I haven't been posting frequently.

It's not intentional that I left off at that point~>_<~, it's all because of the exams, whoops.

Continuing on.

I haven't been able to reach out to Cheng Yi for two consecutive days. After much thought, I can only contact him through Jin Yu.

You might wonder why I'm so concerned about the incident with Pei Hao. Well, it's not because I still have feelings for him, but because even if it were a stranger who ended up in the hospital due to me, I would feel guilty.

Do you understand?

Hmm, you're all little angels, you'll understand.

Jin Yu answered my call quickly.

"Can you find Cheng Yi?" I asked him directly, "I can't get through to his phone."

"Why do you want to find him?" After not seeing each other for weeks, there was a hint of detachment in Jin Yu's tone.

"Um," I paused, unsure where to start, "I'll explain it to you slowly later."

"He's in the hospital for treatment, I turned off his phone," Jin Yu said in a calm tone, "If you need something, I can pass along your message."

If Cheng Yi has been in the hospital all this time, then could it really not be his doing?

I hesitated for a moment and said, "It's alright, we'll talk when he's better."

Seeing me remain silent, Jin Yu suddenly cut to the chase, "Do you want to ask about the incident with Pei Hao being beaten?"

I was taken aback, how did he know?

Could it be that the incident with Pei Hao being hospitalized is really related to Cheng Yi?

"Yeah," I replied.

"No need to ask Cheng Yi," Jin Yu's tone was very composed, "I did it."

My mind went blank for a moment. It was the first time I realized that Jin Yu's friendly demeanor might just be a façade. It seemed like I never truly understood him.

Both brothers are ruthless, huh.

"Why?" I asked, puzzled.

"He sent Cheng Yi to the emergency room," Jin Yu said with a hint of anger in his voice, although he tried to suppress it, I still sensed it.

My mind was in a tangle of confusion.

Pei Hao sent Cheng Yi to the emergency room? Could it be because of the incident where Cheng Yi poured water on me?

Yes, given Pei Hao's temperament, he might have gotten into a fight with someone over me (it's happened before). But based on what I know about him, he still has a sense of propriety. Would he really go so far as to send Cheng Yi to the emergency room just for splashing water on me in public? I find it hard to believe he would go that far.

Moreover, the way Cheng Yi looks... so... tsundere. Although Pei Hao has a quick temper, he knows the limits.

"So, do you know why he picked a fight with Cheng Yi?" Jin Yu continued to question.

I sighed, somewhat helpless, "It might be because Cheng Yi splashed me with water at the hotpot restaurant and Pei Hao ran into him."

"Splashed you with water? Cheng Yi?" Jin Yu was incredulous.

"Yeah."

"Why would he..." Jin Yu started to say but stopped himself, as if he had figured something out.

"He seems to have misunderstood our relationship," I said with a hint of amusement, "He said I'm not good enough for you."

"..." Jin Yu seemed to be speechless for a half-minute. After a while, I heard his voice again, and it sounded much calmer, "If that's true, I'll personally apologize to him another day."

Even if Cheng Yi is a bit crazy, he's still Jin Yu's brother by blood. There's no point in getting entangled in this matter. Besides, Pei Hao has also sent Cheng Yi to the hospital.

I hurriedly replied, "No need, no need. I've been busy studying for exams recently."

"Sorry," Jin Yu said in a deep voice, "But your ex... Pei Hao, he really went too far!"

I don't know how seriously Cheng Yi is injured, or what's going on with Pei Hao. I just feel irritated by all of this.

The logic starts to make sense. Because Cheng Yi splashed water on me, Pei Hao fought with him, and then Jin Yu avenged his brother by beating Pei Hao. But I still don't know what Pei Hao will do to retaliate against Jin Yu once he's recovered. I don't even want to think about it.

Men are a bunch of creatures driven by adrenaline, doing impulsive things without thinking.

What's most frustrating is that all this mess is caused by me, even though I haven't done anything!

"I'm sorry, I didn't know he would do this," I felt tired, inexplicably drawn into a bunch of troubles without rhyme or reason, becoming the instigator.

At this moment, there was a commotion on Jin Yu's side of the call. He hastily said, "I've got something going on here, we'll talk later."

I hadn't even finished saying "okay," and he hung up the phone.

Three days later, Pei Hao appeared sitting on a chair in my residential complex downstairs, one leg encased in a thick cast.

As I walked by, he didn't seem to have any intention of approaching me, probably because his limp wouldn't let him catch up.

Self-awareness is a good thing.

He had waited downstairs near our building so many times, but this was the first time I walked up to him. Because I wanted to clarify what he had done to Cheng Yi, which led to him ending up in the emergency room.

And what his plans were for Jin Yu.

When he saw me approaching, he grinned at me, a smile like that of a mischievous dog.

Me: ...

"This time you came over on your own," Pei Hao raised an eyebrow at me, seeming quite pleased.

I gestured with my hand, clarifying, "Don't misunderstand, I'm just here to ask you about Cheng Yi."

Pei Hao's tone turned cold upon hearing Cheng Yi's name, "You mean that idiot who splashed water on you last time?"

"Yeah," I nodded.

"Stay away from that guy with the surname Jin," Pei Hao frowned, a hint of resentment flashing in his eyes, "Both of those brothers are crazy."

"He said you sent Cheng Yi to the emergency room," I replied.

"What?" Pei Hao looked at me in surprise, as if I were saying something unbelievable, and he said with some excitement, "I only gave him a couple of hits, and I used less than half of my strength. Wasn't he fine when I left? He ended up in the emergency room right after I left? What a scam!"

I squinted at him and pressed on, "Just a couple of hits?"

"That idiot's as weak as a chicken. He acted so arrogantly when he splashed water on you, thinking he's so powerful," Pei Hao exhaled and disdainfully flicked his finger joints, "But he was completely defenseless. It wasn't worth hitting him."

Well, no kidding. You, a former taekwondo athlete and star player of the university basketball team, beating up someone who's chronically ill. What can the other person possibly do?

I confirmed again, "He was fine when you left?"

"He could still fight back when I left, but later I found out he..." Pei Hao shrugged, looked at me, and his gaze gradually softened as he continued, "He looks somewhat like you from the side. I didn't go all out."

"Huh?" My eyes widened.

What did he say? Me? Cheng Yi? I don't know what my profile looks like, but I'm pretty sure this is the first time I've heard that I look like him.

I guess Pei Hao has really lost it if he sees everyone as me.

"As for Jin Yu, what about..." I began.

"You don't need to worry about him," Pei Hao interrupted me, his voice icy, and he stared at me intently, saying, "Or are you still reluctant to let me do something to him?"

"I just don't want both of you to end up getting hurt," I frowned.

You two can fight however you want, but it shouldn't be because of me. Otherwise, even if I go abroad, I'll still wake up in the middle of the night feeling guilty.

"Are you concerned about me then?" Pei Hao blinked his eyes at me playfully. He used to like teasing me like this when we were together. I once told him that his eyes were especially attractive.

After all these years, it seems like nothing has changed.

But everything has changed, actually.

I don't know why those old memories are coming back. I try really hard to forget, but it's like the memory section in my brain has never deleted even a tiny bit. They just quietly stay there, ready to flash back whenever Pei Hao does something.

A sense of defeat washed over me.

Feeling a bit deflated, I stared at the floor without saying a word.

Pei Hao didn't know why I suddenly became disheartened. He probably thought he had touched a nerve again. After a brief hesitation, he said dejectedly:

If you want me to back off, I will.

[1st Comment] Unlucky Times: Who's lying, Pei Hao or Jin Yu?

[2nd Comment] I Can Still Endure: Perhaps no one is lying, just blame Cheng Yi for having a weak constitution.

[11th Comment] love_0723: Emphasizing, Xiao Xi and Cheng Yi look alike.

[12th Comment] That Person, That Flower, That Dog: Maybe neither of them is lying. Can it be that Jin Yu pursued our Xiao Xi because he resembles his younger brother???

[13th Comment] ●▂●: Then why isn't Jin Yu directly together with his brother?

[14th Comment] That Person, That Flower, That Dog: Because they're related by blood? How would I know...

[35th Comment] た靑木知湫ッ: Hahaha, sorry, when you said Pei Hao grinned like a mischievous dog, I really pictured a dog's face in my mind (doge.jpg).

[36th Comment] chuixue: Uh, when you mentioned Jin Yu, I actually pictured a goldfish's face in my mind.

[40th Comment] Soft Silky Threads: To sum it up, four men trapped by love, a melodramatic plot.
