Chapter 51: Serena's Birthday Surprise

Serena's POV

I slowly flutter my eyes open to the sound of Pidgey's chirping outside my bedroom window. I lay lazily in bed as I slowly wake up from my slumber, a feeling I've been getting used to over the last week or so.

It's been 10 days since I moved in with Ash in Pallet town.

So, how has it been living with Ash's mom and him in their house?

Honestly it's been amazing!

They've both made me feel so at home and so welcome that it makes my heart so happy. Honestly, I already feel so loved and apart of their family.

Pallet town has been the perfect place for me to recover in and it's one of the best places I've ever been to in my life.

The people here are so nice and accepting of me. All of Ash's neighbours have been so friendly with me and welcomed me with open arms.

I got to meet a lot of them at a little celebration party the community put on to celebrate Ash's victory. The party was so fun, even if it was much smaller than the one in Alola.

Ash introduced me to a lot of his neighbours there and they all were very kind to me. They all also gave Ash the same lecture about not hurting me which just makes me giggle. I mean I know he's dense but this is Ash we're talking about, he'd never do anything to purposely hurt me.

After the introductions, I learned that people in Pallet town certainly know how to party. I mean it explains where Gary gets it from for sure.

So you may be wondering, what does a typical day look like for you in Pallet town Serena?

Well since I'm still recovering I'm not doing as much as I'd really want to in terms of exploring.

Kanto looks like a beautiful region that I'd loved to see more of but unfortunately, I can't because of my injuries. As much as I'd love to, it's not advisable for me to do any sort of travelling yet.

But hopefully me and Ash can travel the region together one day and he can show me some cool places.

Anyway I'm getting sidetracked.

My day usually starts the same way every day. I'll flutter my eyes open to see my boyfriend's handsome face staring back at me!

Ash always wakes up before me everyday. However he never gets up before me. He waits in bed for me to wake up so he can say good morning to me.

I absolutely adore that he does this! It means so much to me that the first thing I see everyday is his smiling face, it just makes me feel happy and it's the perfect way to start the day.

After that we'll lay in bed for at least half an hour for morning cuddles and kisses. It may sound corny to some but I don't care. I get to start my day off everyday by being loved, and showing my love to my boyfriend.

Speaking of my boyfriend, me and Ash's relationship has only been getting stronger these past 10 days.

I was kind of nervous that things might be a little awkward after that moment we had the other day.

But thankfully we've had no tension at all and everything has been smooth sailing.

Living together has only brought us closer and if I'm being totally honest, I love him more than ever before after everything we talked about.

After we finish cuddling, Ash will go off to take a shower and get ready for the day, despite my usual attempts to tease him. I'll always playfully whine at him that I'm cold or something because it's fun.

Anyway, he'll get changed and give me a kiss goodbye before he heads to the lab for the morning to do some training with his pokemon.

I don't ever want to take him away from his Pokémon and get in the way of his dream, so I always make sure he has time to do some training.

The morning is the best time as well as I've always been more of an afternoon person. He'll go and train for a few hours early in the morning while I get up nice and slow.

It gives me time to do my morning routine without Ash bugging me too. I'll take a shower of my own before doing my hair and makeup ready for the day.

Honestly this routine has worked out perfect for us both to get the most of our time.

Plus even we need some time apart or I'll end up getting tired of his silly little grin.

Ah who am I kidding, your obsessed with it Serena.

After getting ready, I'll head down to make breakfast to find that Delia has already beaten me to it.

It does upset me a little that Delia constantly does this because I shouldn't be a burden like that to her.

She'll always tell me that it's no trouble and say something like, it's only right for her to treat me like her own daughter when I'm living in her house. But I hate taking and not giving.

Brushing that aside, I'll sit and eat breakfast with her as she talks about how Ash should be here with me and not training with his pokemon.

I'll always defend him and tell her that he needs to train for his dream. She'll always end up conceding to me but I can tell she's nervous about me leaving Ash because of his training.

However, recently she's stopped doing this and instead just smiles as we talk about the most random things.

I thinks she's realised now that my love for Ash is stronger than that. I'm supporting his dream and I don't want him to stop training for me. If anything I love him more because he's constantly working towards something.

What Delia hasn't realised yet though, is these mornings together have been the perfect excuse for us to spend some time together.

After breakfast we'll go and do our activity for the morning.

So far we've done a variety of different things together.

One day we went grocery shopping together for  ingredients to make dinner which I cooked later on. Another time we did some gardening together where she showed me how to grow my own oran berries. I'm usually not one for getting dirty but even I'll admit it was fun. We've also gone clothes shopping where I spent way too much money on outfits. It turns out Delia has got quiet the fashion sense, which explains why Ash's clothes are always pretty cool.

We've also done some more light hearted things as well like just sitting down at the breakfast table all morning with a coffee, talking about all kind of stuff. The best thing I learned that day is that Delia loves watching Pokémon performances. Once I knew that we spent the rest of the morning watching videos of the past Kalos queen's performances on YouTube. It was really fun and I got quiet a few ideas for future performances from the videos we watched.

By far my favourite thing we've done though is look through for some old photo albums. Firstly, Delia was so pretty when she was younger. Don't get me wrong she's aged gracefully and is still absolutely stunning if you ask me. But she could have been a super model in a different life. However, the best part was when she showed me Ash's baby pictures. I know I'm biased when I say this, but he was the cutest little baby! Delia even has some of his old baby toys as keepsakes which is adorable!

Anyway after our morning activity, I'll change into some exercise gear and go to meet Ash at the lab.

By the time I get there, he's already finished training and he'll be there to help me with my recovery.

So speaking of my recovery, it's been a mixed bag.

I'm still no where near 100% but I'm getting stronger each day. Me and Ash spoke with an expert who recommended me a workout plan to get my strength back.

The workout's aren't the most physical but they are a struggle with my condition.

However, it's been made easier by the fact that Ash and all my Pokémon do all the workouts with me, step by step. Having them beside me the whole time, willing to go through the pain with me is such a blessing.

There have been times where I've found things really tough, but every time I'm really struggling, Ash will say something and cheer me up.

Did I ever mention I love him and he's going to be my future husband?

Anyway after we finish our worksouts we move on to performance practice.

Me and my Pokémon will go on stage and practice a few different routines and experiment a little.

We know we need to compensate for my injuries so I've been trying to find ways to make compelling performances without moving that much.

That does suck a little because I love dancing but what can I do.

Ash and his Pokémon will always sit in the crowd and act as our audience.

Can I just say that Ash's Pokémon are amazing. I've only known a few for a short while but their all so cool and full of personality. Best part is that they've all integrated in so well with my Pokémon and treat them so nicely.

Even if Ash's Pikachu has shocked poor Oshawatt for hitting on Sylveon.

Serves him right I guess.

He tried it on Braxien too I think.

Poor guy once he figures out who's crushing on her.

In fact now that I think about it that was a bit of issue for a while until Bulbasaur put a stop to it, being the leader of the lab.

Anyway back to training, most days we'll keep going until I hit my limit and my ribs give in. Some days that happens sooner than others but once it does, Ash always catches me and helps me back up.

He'll always give me a kiss and tell me how great I am which is just the encouragement I need.

After that we'll head home and freshen up before dinner time. If I'm home early enough I'll always make a point to help Delia cook which I know she appreciates.

We then will sit down as a family and eat dinner while talking about our days.

I help wash the dishes up before I get the spend the rest of my night with Ash.

We always spend every night together, even if we are tired from our days.

We've done a variety of things at night. Like last night we took a walk to the hill over Pallet town where we sat watching the stars until I fell asleep.

We sometimes watch movies and eat snacks with each other while I force Ash to cuddle me.

The other night Ash was playing his games with Gary so I just sat and cheered him on. I heard most girls hate it when their man plays video games but honestly it can be fun to watch and tease them about being bad.

Plus Ash does so much for me and I'm never going to be a girl who stops him seeing his friends and spending time with them.

Although I'm still waiting for my Mario Kart rematch.

Yeah basically everything has been perfect.

Delia is awesome, my injuries are slowly healing, and my relationship with Ash is so healthy.

What could be better?

Well right now actually.

I begin to feel a little cold in bed and honestly a little uncomfortable.

I flicker my eyes open and look around the room.

That's when I realise why I'm so uncomfortable.

Ash has already left!

I swear I just gave him about 100 compliments in my head and now he leaves me hanging!

I'm so giving him a lecture when I see him!

He knows how much I love waking up with him and now he decides to do this!?

Where the hell has he even gone?

He has no idea what I'm going to....

Normal POV

"Happy birthday Serena!"

All of a sudden Serena is snapped out of her rage as Ash opens the door with a massive beaming smile on his face, while holding a metal tray in his hands.

Serena blinks a few times as she tries to figure out what just happened. After a few seconds she forgets about her previous anger as she realises that today is her 18th birthday!

Not only that but Ash has remembered and got her something to start off her day!

While she's still a little upset she didn't wake up to his face this morning, she's willing to forget for a second to see what he's got in store for her.

Serena beams a smile at her boyfriend as she puts her hand on her heart and exclaims "You remembered!?"

Ash smiles as he approaches his girlfriend with the tray in hand, he places it down on the bed before climbing in from the other side. He moves under the covers next to Serena and replies "Of course I did Serena. This is our first birthday together as a couple and it's your 18th. So to celebrate I've got lots of presents lined up for you."

Serena giggles a little as she feels her heart warm, she already knows this is going to be her best birthday yet because she's spending it with Ash. She cuddles into him slightly as she whispers "Thank you Ash, but the best present you can give me is just spending the day with me."

Ash smiles a little as he wraps an arm around his girlfriend. He smirks a little as he replies "I knew you'd say that. But a special girl like you deserves the world on her special day. So I've lined up a bunch of surprises for you, starting right now."

Ash moves his other arm forward and removes the lid of his tray to reveal a Kalosian breakfast underneath.

Serena gasps in shock upon seeing the breakfast from her native region. She beams a smile as she questions in an excited tone "You made all this for me?"

Ash scratches his head a little and replies in an unsure tone "Well yeah, I looked up a recipe on how to cook the meal. I know your probably dreading eating it but don't worry. I kind of asked my mom to help, even if that is a little embarrassing. I was kind of hoping to wake you up with the breakfast but you were already awake, sorry about that by the way."

Serena feels her cheeks heat up at Ash's thoughtfulness. She doesn't care if Delia helped him or not, or if the food tastes good. It's the fact he went out of his way for her that makes it so for her. At this point she has definitely forgiven him for not sleeping in with her this morning. Even though she is definitely catching up on those morning cuddles now that he's back!

Serena looks up at her boyfriend and rubs her nose against his affectionately while letting off her cute giggle Ash loves. She pulls away and beams a smile at him as she teases "You really are such a cutie you know that?"

Ash chuckles a little at his girlfriend's remark as he replies in a soft tone "Your the cute one Serena. Now I need you to eat that breakfast before it gets cold. We've got a long day of surprises ahead so make sure you eat up."

Serena can't help can't help but agree with her boyfriend's point as she gazes at the breakfast in front of her. As much as she wants to dig straight in, she also wants those dam cuddles.

She quickly forms a plan as she playfully pouts and exclaims "Fine I'll eat! But only if you stay here and cuddle with me at same time! Think of it as your punishment for leaving me cold and alone in bed this morning!"

Ash can't help but chuckle at his girlfriend's playfulness as he shakes his head and replies "Okay Serena, cuddling with you isn't really a punishment though."

Serena giggles a little as she cuddles in closer to her boyfriend while moving her food to the other side of her.

Serena begins to eat her breakfast while Ash holds her in his arms. As morning's go this has got to be right up there. Serena finds her taste buds doing little cheers as she tastes the familiar flavours of home. Honestly she could be in a cafe in Lumiose city it all tastes so good. She's not sure if to thank Ash or Delia for how great it tastes, but if it is Ash then she'll definitely be making him cook for her again the future.

She appreciates this little taste of home so much more considering it's her 2nd birthday in a row she's spent in another region. She really does feel blessed that Ash thought about her like this.

Ash meanwhile keeps Serena comfortable in his usual role as a pillow. To be fair to the raven haired trainer he is fast becoming an expert.

He smiles a little as he feels a warmth come over him from Serena's happy reactions. He really does love her a lot and wants her to have the best 18th birthday she can possibly have.

That's why he's planed this little day of surprises for her. Serena deserves it after everything she's done for him, and Ash is determined to deliver.

After a good 10 minutes, Serena finishes up her breakfast with a little help from the munchlax beside her as she constantly feeds him just because she thinks it's cute in a way.

She moves the tray up to her side before she smiles up at her boyfriend and pecks his lips. She sinks into his chest and whispers "Thank you Ash, that was delicious and made me feel like I was home again."

Ash smiles at his girlfriend's reaction before she he gently pecks her forehead and replies "No problem beautiful."

The two stay in bed together for another half hour having their usual morning cuddles. They stay in each other's warm embrace as they just enjoy the peace of the moment.

After a long while, Serena adjusts herself a little and finally admits "I think we should get out of bed now Ash."

Ash chuckles a little and replies "You think? We've only been here for the last hour."

Serena frowns a little at her boyfriend's reaction before she playfully punches his shoulder and exclaims "It's my birthday Ash! I think I'm allowed to stay in bed as long as I want!"

Ash shakes his. head at her antics and her usual obsession with laying in every morning. He smirks a little as he teases "Well we could Serena, but then you'll never get to see all your surprises." 

Hearing a reminder about her surprises in store makes Serena a little giddy with excitement. She springs up at of bed and shouts "I'm up! Now where's the next surprise!"

Ash chuckles at his girlfriend's playfulness before he replies in a soft tone "Well your next surprise is at the lab. But first I need to make sure everything is ready. Why don't you go freshen up and get yourself ready while I make sure everything is set up."

Serena tilts her head a little as she thinks about what the hell kind of surprise Ash could have waiting for her at the lab. If he's going there to make her train on her birthday or because he wants to battle with his pokemon. Then she's giving him a peace of her mind.

She decides to give her boyfriend the benefit of the doubt as she exclaims "Okay Ash, I'll see you in a bit. I'm gonna get ready, call my mom and then I'll be there."

Ash smiles at his girlfriend's reaction and gives her a goodbye kiss before he heads off to the lab.

Meanwhile, Serena takes her shower, does her makeup and gets herself dressed for the day.

Once she's ready she sits on her bed and starts to scroll through her tablet. First she checks her messages and responds to her friends. Being as popular as she is these days, she gets many birthday messages from her friends such as: Bonnie, Lillie, Clemont, Shauna, Nini, Lusamine, Marin, Mallow, May and a few others as well.

After that, she decides to check her social media's. She's received a ton of messages from fans wishing her a happy birthday. She likes a few of them but there's honestly way to many to keep up with. More than she thought she would receive to be honest.

Upon opening instagram it becomes clear why. Ash has posted about her birthday on his account which has attracted a lot of attention. He's put up a tone of really cute pictures of the two of them they've taken over the last few years with the caption "Happy 18th birthday to the most beautiful and amazing girl in the world. Love you so much my Kalos princess 😘🥰🥳"

Serena feels her heart warm at the pictures as she instantly drops a heart on it and puts back a loving comment.

Scrolling down a little further, she finds that Ash isn't the only famous person to put up a birthday message.

May has also put one up to her fanbase as has Lizia.

The biggest celebrity to post about her though is easily Aria. Having the Kalos queen post a picture of you and her together on her account while wishing you a happy birthday is certainly humbling.

Aria's post certainly has raised a lot of awareness to the situation so that helps to explain the amount of messages.

To top it all off, #HappybirthdaySere is trending on twitter.

Yeah it's safe to say she's receiving a lot of love from her followers.

With her social media feed up to date, Serena raises her tablet into the air as she dials the number for her mother. After a few seconds the familiar view of a motherly smile appears on the tablet screen, as Grace beams a smile and exclaims "Happy birthday dear."

Serena beams a smile back at her mom and replies "Thanks Mom!"

Grace puts on a proud smile as she remarks in a childish tone "I can't believe my little baby girl is 18 years old. Your officially all grown up."

Serena giggles a little at her mother's tone and replies "Don't worry mom, I'll still always be your little girl."

Grace nods in agreement and remarks casually "So, what are you getting up to later today?"

Serena smiles and shakes her head as she replies "I actually don't know mom. Ash has planned out my whole day but he's keeping it a surprise. I'm supposed to meet him at the lab in a minute to find out what's next."

Grace raises her eyebrow slightly and exclaims "A surprise birthday huh? Well I hope none of his surprises include pokemon battles. That wouldn't be the way to celebrate."

Serena shakes her head and remarks "I don't think we will mom."

Grace nods her head and continues in her usual tone "Good, we'll I'm really glad your having fun there. I'm sorry that I can't be there to celebrate your special day with you."

Serena puts on a small smile as she replies "That's okay mom, I promise we'll try and spend next year with you."

Grace smiles back and exclaims "I would like that dear." She turns her smile into a smirk as she adds "Although I do have to confess something, I may be in on your surprise as well."

Serena tilts her head in confusion as she questions "What does that mean mom."

Grace giggles at her daughter's reaction before she explains "Okay I'll come clean. Your boyfriend rang me off your tablet the other day to see if I had any presents I wanted to send you. I did and I believe he's hid them from you right under your bed."

Serena blushes a bright red at her boyfriend's thoughtful actions. She quickly checks under the bed to find two presents wrapped up tightly. She picks them up and places them on the bed behind her before putting the tablet camera into view.

Serena puts a hand on her blue ribbon as she exclaims in a dreamy tone "He's so thoughtful and so caring."

Grace grins at her loves up daughter and replies "I'll say it, you've hit the boyfriend jackpot."

Serena beams a smile at her mom and exclaims in agreement "Yeah, I think I have."

She gestures towards her two presents as she questions "Which one should I open first."

Grace points to a bigger present and answers "I think you should open that one first, the second one is a little more special."

Serena nods before she puts the bigger present in her lap. She carefully opens it to find a shoebox underneath. Serena discards the wrapping paper and opens up the box.

What she finds inside leaves her a little awestruck. A pair of beautiful sapphire in-crested blue heels which perfectly match her eyes.

Serena holds the shoes up against her and shouts "These are so beautiful mom! Thank you so much!"

Grace smiles at her daughter's reaction and replies "That's okay dear, I just did what I always do. Picked the thing I thought looked the worse!"

Serena rolls her eyes at her mother's lack of fashion sense before neatly placing the heels on the side. She picks up her other present and holds it in front of her as she questions "Who's this off mom?"

Grace smiles and explains "Well Serena, this one is a bit of a family heirloom. Your grandfather wanted me to give this to you on your 18th birthday."

Serena feels a little emotion come over as she hears her grandfather get mentioned. Just thinking of him makes her wish he was here. He'd have loved to celebrate her birthday and would have totally made the trip to see her.

Unfortunately life doesn't work that way, but at least she has some sort of gift from him on her special day. She carefully opens the present to reveal a small jewellery box underneath. Serena opens up the box to see a small pair of expensive looking diamond bud earrings inside.

She carefully takes them out of the box and holds them out in front of her as she mutters "These look beautiful."

Grace smiles and explains "Your great grandmother once wore these on her wedding day. Since then they've been passed down through generations. Their still in such good condition considering their age. Your grandfather was meant to pass them down to me but we decided that they'd look better on you. I'm trusting you'll take good care of them."

Serena gazes at the earrings in her hand and sniffs back a tear as she replies "I promise I will mom."

The truth is this gift does mean a lot to her. It's something she can treasure knowing that it's got some history in her family.

Grace smiles back at her daughter and exclaims "Good dear, I'd loved to stay and catch for longer but I've got a class starting in 10 minutes. Have fun and enjoy yourself today."

Serena beams a smile back at her mother and replies "I will mom and thank you again!"

The two hang up as Serena takes a second to get over her emotional gift. Truth is she doesn't have any photos or anything of her grandfather left so the earrings he's gifted her are kind of her only thing she's got left from him.

After Serena has calmed down a little, she packs up her things and heads off to the lab.

Serena arrives at the lab and walks in through the front entrance. She beams a smile as she walks in and exclaims "Hi everyone!"

However, Serena gets not response as she steps into the building. She looks around and notices that the lab itself looks like it's been abandoned.

She tilts her head in confusion and mutters "That's strange, I swear Ash told me to come to the lab?"

She takes a few steps forward as she mutters "I swear if Ash has ditched me on my birthday then I'm not kissing him for two weeks at least!"

Serena continues to wander through the lab until she finds herself near the backdoor towards the lab fields. She pushes the door open and steps outside, when suddenly.

"SURPRISE! HAPPY BIRTHDAY SERENA!!"

Serena is hit with a wall of noise as confetti goes off all around her.

She flinches a little at the shock before she springs her eyes open to see a sight that make a her beam a smile.

Right in front of her stands all her pokemon and Ash's as well as her dense boyfriend. With him are Professor Oak, Gary and all the other lab workers, as well as pretty much every resident in Pallet town. They are lined up as they greet her with smiles on their faces.

Behind them are a bunch of Balloons, banners and other decorations. Tables are set out all along the lab grounds to sit at. A buffet of food is laid out as well along with drinks, music and other items you'd expect at a surprise party.

Serena beams a smile and clutches her blue ribbon tighter. She shakes a little with excitement as she shouts "Thank you all so much!"

Ash smiles at his girlfriend's reaction and steps up towards her. He takes his hand into hers as he exclaims "Welcome to your 3rd present of the day. Your very own surprise party."

Serena feels her heart do a little happy dance at her boyfriend's 3rd surprise of the day. So far he's absolutely nailing this birthday stuff.

Serena instantly locks Ash in a big hug and exclaims "This is so nice. Thank you Ash!"

She turns towards everyone and remarks in polite tone "Thank you all for this too. I feel so happy that you would so this for me."

Delia shakes her head and replies in a sweet tone "It's no problem dear. We all wanted to make sure you had a perfect birthday celebration."

Professor Oak nods and adds "That's right, that's why I've agreed to use the lab for this for the day. We all felt like you deserved a proper welcome to Pallet town."

Serena feels a little giddy at the acceptance she's receiving from the community. So far Pallet town has treated her so well. She never thought she could call another place home other than Vaniville town but this place is definitely on the way there.

She shakes off her thoughts for a second as she exclaims "Well, I just want to thank you all for accepting me into your community and for making me feel so welcome. You'll never know how much this truly means to me."

Ash smiles at his girlfriend and holds her close as Delia exclaims "Your more than welcome."

Serena beams a smile at the group as she shouts "Well what are we waiting for then? Let's party!"

Everyone lets off a positive cheer as the surprise party begins.

Serena is instantly surrounded by all of her pokemon who all give her a birthday group hug. Serena hugs them all and thanks them, but soon realises she's got a lot more Pokémon to thank than just hers.

All of Ash's Pokémon are basically lined up to greet her at this point. While Serena is happy they all seem to have taken to her so well, she's also just had the realisation that she is kind of co caring for over 60 pokemon.

Still she keeps a smile on her face and gives them
all a hug back.

After she's gone through that ordeal. Serena goes around with her boyfriend and politely thanks all the guests. The people of Pallet town are more than grateful for her thanks as they begin to warm to the honey blonde girl and wonder how the hell Delia's over enthusiastic son managed to score her.

Once she finishes greeting everyone, Serena can finally enjoy her surprise birthday party. She does all sort of things you'd expect to do at a birthday party. She dances to the music while dragging Ash along with her. She eats from the buffet as everyone knows birthday's are a cheat day and calories count for half. They all play a few party games as well, as everyone has a good time.

As the party begins to wind down a little, Serena begins to receive her presents from the guests. She's overcome with joy at their gifts but also a little hesitant to take them considering her usual politeness.

She gives in as she starts to open her gifts. Firstly Ash's Pokémon have all come together to make her a cake. The cake is well made with an icing design that shows her and Ash together with all their pokemon surrounding them. Serena beams a smile at her cake and thanks Ash's pokemon for their kind gift.

Next she receives some gifts from her pokemon. Starting off with baby Pikachu who has drawn her a picture of the two of them. Serena feels her heart melt at her baby Pokémon's efforts. Yes it's a scruffy drawing that you can tell was made by a baby Pokémon. But Serena doesn't care as she loves the effort she put into it and thinks it's kind of adorable in a way.

Next up, Sylveon goes for a more classy approach as she gets her trainer a cute little Sylveon patterned bracelet. Serena smiles at the cute bracelet and thanks her fairy type Pokémon for her gift. She also wonders how the hell her pokemon brought her gifts. It's then that Ash explains he took them all shopping the other day while he was meant to be training so they could get something for her. Just another one of his surprises.

Braxien buys her trainer a selection of beauty and hair products to use, as a thanks for always brushing her tail and keeping her looking good.

Pancham buys his trainer a pair of sunglasses that totally match his. Serena giggles at the present before she thanks her panda pokemon.

Brionne buys her trainer a float which she can use to help her float in the water with her, considering she still hasn't learned to swim.

Altaria does something a little more out there as she makes her trainer a really comfy neck pillow made out of the cotton from her wings.

Finally, Absol gets Serena a brand new pair of running shoes to wear during her training.

Quick A/N I am terrible at buying gifts so this is getting harder by the second!

Moving on to Professor Oak. He gifts Serena her very own updated national dex which she can upload onto any device she wants. Serena is particularly thankful as she was still using the updated version of the first pokedex Professor Sycamore gave to her. While that equipment was still working, it was starting to show signs of wear and tear.

Of course Ash was a little jealous of this gift as well.

Gary is next up as he buys Serena an expensive bottle of champagne. Given she is now of legal age to drink (at least in my country) she was always going to get some sort of alcoholic gift. She smiles and takes it gratefully but doesn't plan on drinking it tonight. After all she wants to remember her 18th birthday with Ash and doesn't want to wake up with another hangover.

The final present to be given out is by Delia. She approaches Serena while holding a gift in her hand as she exclaims "Happy birthday dear."

Serena frowns a little seeing Delia holding a gift as she replies "Please Delia I can't take this. You honestly didn't have to get me anything. Your hospitality has been more than enough."

Delia frowns back as she shakes her head and exclaims "Stop being so dam nice Serena. Your being too humble now my dear. If I can't buy my daughter in law a present for her birthday than what can I do?"

Serena blushes a little as she hears herself be called Delia's daughter in law. She shakes off her blush a little as she replies in a sweet tone "Thank you Mrs Ketchum. Oh no I did it again!"

Delia giggles at Serena's actions before she passes the present over. Serena takes the neatly wrapped present into her hands and unwraps it gently. She finds a little box inside which she opens up to find some sort of item of clothing. She takes the item out the box and holds it up in front of her as she gasps in shock.

Delia has brought her a beautiful baby blue strapless dress that ends just before her knees. The dress is in-crested with sapphires and little diamonds which completely sparkle while matching her eyes.

Serena beams a smile towards Delia and exclaims "This dress is so beautiful. Thank you so much."

Delia beams a smile back and replies "That's okay dear. I eyed it up while we were out the other day and I thought of you straight away when I saw it. I wasn't too sure of your size though so I had to ask Ash before I brought it. I was actually a little shocked that he knows your size to be honest."

Serena smiles at her boyfriend's mom as she holds the dress up against her. Truth is it does look perfect for her and Delia certainly is very fashionable. She nods in agreement and exclaims "Well he knows everything about me at this point. I'm just really grateful to have this dress. It's absolutely beautiful and it really matches what my mom brought me earlier."

Delia smiles at the happy coincidence as she remarks "Oh is your mom a fashionista like me?"

Serena sweat drops a little and replies "No she's just a little lucky."

She packs up her dress into the box and gives it a little hug. However, she is soon pulled into an even stronger hug from behind as Ash wraps his arms around her waist and holds her close. He moves his lips closer to her ear and whispers "I think it looks great. But it'll look even better on you during our date tonight."

Serena gasps a little shock at her boyfriend's sudden actions. However, she soon starts to become giddy with excitement at the prospect of date night. She absolutely loves it when Ash takes her out on a date. It's always so romantic and perfect in every way.

It's even more exciting for her considering they haven't been on a proper date since before the Alola league. That's literally months ago at this point so she's naturally really excited.

Serena turns around towards her boyfriend with a face bubbling with anticipation. She looks him in the eyes with a small glint as she questions "Your really taking me out on a date tonight?"

Ash chuckles a little at his girlfriend's reaction before he smiles and exclaims "Yeah of course I am Serena. I know how much you love date night and it's been so long since we properly went out together. So I thought, what better way to celebrate than to go on a birthday date night!"

Serena feels herself become dizzy with excitement at the prospect of their date. As surprises go this has to be the best one yet. She rises to her toes and gives Ash a big smooch on the lips as a thank you. She takes a step back with a beaming smile on her face as she shouts "I love you so much!"

Ash feels his cheeks up at Serena's sudden actions. He soon calms down a little as he smiles and gives Serena a small hug. He whispers to her in a sweet tone "I love you too."

Serena sinks into Ash's arms for a second as she feels warm and safe in his grasp. She soon raises her head a little to look him in the eye as she questions "So Ash, where are you taking me out to."

Ash chuckles a little before he moves a strand of Serena's hair. He smiles at her and explains "Well what we're going to be doing is a surprise. But I'll tell you at least where we're going. We're going to be going to Virdian city, where you and your mom lived while in Kanto. I've got a car picking us up in 3 hours so..."

Serena cuts her boyfriend off as she gasps and shouts "We need to get ready!"

She takes Ash's hand and sprints out of the lab while dragging him along with her.

Ash sweat drops a little at Serena's actions as he exclaims "Wow calm down Serena, we've still got plenty of time!

Serena giggles a little at his reaction as she replies "No! I need to make sure I'm ready for you. I'm going to look my absolute best tonight!"

The amour couple run off towards their house to get ready while everyone chuckles at their antics, fully knowing their both in for a wild night ahead.

The two arrive back the house and instantly split up to get ready. Well when I say split up, I mean Serena puts Ash on no strict no peeking orders until she's fully ready.

Serena brings her stuff into Delia's room and borrows her space for a bit while she gets ready for her date.

Meanwhile, Ash realises that he's got a few hours to kill so uses his time wisely before he starts to get ready. He showers before he puts on smart outfit for their date, he's planning on taking Serena to some fancy places so he needs to look the part.

Ash stands in front of his mirror as he gazes at his outfit. He's wearing a white button up shirt with the last few buttons un done to show a little bit of his chest. Last time he went out with Serena she made him do that so he's decided to keep that same approach. He wears a light grey suit, which his mom specifically told him to wear, combined with a pair of black smart shoes. He puts the locket Serena gave him around his neck before he styles his messy raven hair to be a little more neat. He was actually thinking of getting a haircut for this date but Serena has come to love his hair so decides not to risk it. He sprays some strong aftershave on himself to make him smell better.

With himself ready, Ash makes his way down into the living room to wait for his girlfriend.

Serena takes her time to get ready as she tries her very best to make herself look as good as possible. She puts on a full face of makeup and styles her short honey blonde hair to look a little more wavy than usual. She wears the strapless baby blue dress Delia brought her earlier as well as her brand new heals to match. She puts on her great grandmother's earrings and places a silver bracelet on her wrist. On the other, she ties her blue ribbon as tight as possible as her usual good luck charm. She sprays some perfume on herself to make her scent even more sweet. She takes a step back and looks in the mirror as a smile appears on her face.

She absolutely loves the look but there is one thing missing. A pretty necklace to rest in the gap between her face and where her dress starts. She shrugs it off and makes her way down the stairs to see her boyfriend.

Serena makes her way over to Ash who is currently watching tv. She steps into the room and leans along the doorway in a teasing manner. She smirks to herself as she thinks about Ash's reaction. She gets his attention as she fake coughs "Uh hum!"

Ash immediately snaps out of his trance and turns his head towards Serena. His eyes instantly widen and sparkle at the alluring slight in front of him.

Ash rises to his feet and quietly gasps "Wow." He mindlessly walks towards Serena while being completely fixated by her beauty as a little drool sneaks from his lip.

Ash completely goes into a trance like state as he stares at his girlfriend. He thinks to himself "OMA she is so beautiful. How the hell did you end up dating a super model Ash? She's honestly so hot it's not even a joke."

He fixates on her even more as he takes in her outfit. Her dress shows off her figure perfectly and looks ever so alluring with all the sparkles. If she was a pokepuff Ash would definitely eat her up. Her skin glows and shines amongst the dress as her eyes beam bright. Her heels and earrings just top off the look as her smile burns into his eyes. Her face is as beautiful and as flawless as ever. She looks like a living breathing angel in Ash's eyes and the embodiment of the word perfect.

On the other side of things, Serena finds herself in a similar situation as her boyfriend. She stares at Ash and thinks to herself "He actually listened to me about the buttons! He looks so hot! He looks like a juicy steak! I just want to rip that shirt off him and shower him with love!"

Serena calms down her hormones a little as does Ash. They break out their trance at the same time and look up at one and other. Their eyes meet as they blink and realise they've both just been staring at each other for past few minutes.

They both break out into a fit of uncontrollable giggles at the awkward situation. Eventually they manage to get a hold of themselves as they both take a sigh.

Serena shakes her head and exclaims "You were staring at me too right."

Ash let's off a guilty smile and casually replies "Yeah, guess we both had the same idea."

Serena giggles a little and moves her lips towards Ash. They both meet in the middle and lock themselves in a sweet innocent kiss.

After they break apart, Ash beams a smile at his girlfriend and compliments "You look gorgeous Serena!"

Serena smiles back at her boyfriend's compliment and exclaims "Thank you Ash, you look really handsome too."

The two lovers smile at each other and find themselves being drawn towards one and other. Ash finds himself really wanting to hold Serena in his arms while Serena, she just wants to give Ash a big kiss and see how far it takes them.

Thankfully for the sake of their date, the Uber pulls up at that moment and beeps the horn.

Ash and Serena snap out of their thoughts and find themselves at this same situation. They both giggle a little as they mutually agree through eye contact to sort this out later.

Ash holds his hand out and questions "You ready to go princess?"

Serena smiles back as she takes Ash's hand and replies "Ready when you are."

They walk out side the house hand in hand and walk over to the Uber. Ash opens the back door for his girlfriend before she climbs in. Ash follows after her as the two head out to Viridian city.

After around half hour or so, Ash and Serena find themselves on the outskirts of Viridian city.

They drive right through the suburbs of the city where Serena lived for the first few years of her life. It's a nice little nostalgia trip for her as Serena points out a few of the locations she used to visit as a kid.

While it is a good nostalgia trip for her, Ash can't help but feel a little sad when he sees the area she grew up in. Everything looks a little rundown and the area is a little rough. Lots of graffiti plasters the walls and the houses looks small with old style exterior.

In that moment Ash is definitely happy that Grace took the decision to move over to Kalos. Serena definitely was given a better childhood by moving and that's all that really matters.

However all this does bring up a point that Serena's been wondering.

Why did Ash choose Viridian city for their date?

Well her question is soon answered as the driver banks a left in to the new nightlife district.

Serena gasps in shock as she gazes around the city. Neon lights of clubs and restaurants light up the night sky completely. The streets are packed with well dressed people as many high end cars zoom around them.

Ash notices his girlfriend's reaction as he questions "What do you think Serena?"

Serena beams a smile and exclaims "This place looks beautiful!"

She tilts her head in confusion slightly though as she questions "But since when did Viridian city look this good?"

Ash chuckles a little before he explains "Well a few years ago, it was discovered that Giovanni was basing himself in the Viridian city gym. The police raided the gym but he escaped. What they did find though is a stash of money. The police donated the money back to the city and they used it to make this."

Serena puts a big smile on her face at the fact that Giovanni has basically funded the location for her birthday date with Ash. A small comeuppance for nearly killing her!

She turns to her boyfriend and exclaims "Looks like you've picked the perfect place for our date!"

Ash smirks and remarks in a confident tone "Oh you haven't seen anything yet. This is going to be the best date yet!"

Serena feels her excitement build up at Ash's statement but can't help but tease him a little. She smirks a little and replies "That's a very bold statement Mr Ketchum, do you think you can back that up?"

Ash smirks back and states "I concur Ms Yvonne, I believe this will be the best night of your life so far."

Serena giggles a little at Ash's playfulness before the two lean over and give each other a sweet peck on the lips.

A few seconds later, the driver pulls up right outside a very fancy looking Kalosian restaurant.

Ash smiles and opens the door before exiting the vehicle. He helps Serena out as well as the two stand outside the restaurant hand in hand.

Ash smiles at his girlfriend and announces "Now for your next surprise, a 3 course meal at a 5 star Kalosian restaurant."

Serena looks at the restaurant and gasps in shock at how grand it looks. She turns towards her boyfriend and questions "We're really eating here?"

Ash nods and replies "Yeah I've got us a reservation in their VIP area so no one should bother us too much."

Serena instantly feels her heart flutter at Ash's choice of restaurant as she hugs his arm tight and exclaims "Thank you so much Ash!"

Ash smiles down at his girlfriend and replies "Don't thank me yet baby, let's go inside shall we."

Serena nods in agreement while her inner 15 year old screeches at the thought of a romantic dinner date with Ash!

The two link arms and walk inside the restaurant. They push the doors open and make their way over to the front desk. Ash gives his name to the front of house as they go off to make sure their table is ready.

Many diner's look over at the amour couple and begin to gossip a little about the two. Serena begins to become a little nervous that their going to surround them for pictures and stuff but thankfully, everyone seems to be respectful of their situation.

A few minutes later the front of house takes the two of them to a candle lit table for two at the back of the restaurant. The decor around them is absolutely stunning and perfectly suited for a romantic dinner.

Ash pulls Serena's seat back as she sits down before he tucks her in. Ash then takes a seat opposite her as the two smile at each other.

Serena looks around at the scenery and compliments "This place is really beautiful."

Ash nod and replies "Yeah, it's quite romantic I think."

Serena giggles a little and exclaims "Yeah it is, a candle lit dinner together like this is the exact definition of romance."

Ash smirks a little and questions "I'm getting better at this romance stuff right?"

Serena smirks back and replies with a slight tease "Your certainly going in the right direction, but will you be able to make the whole night this romantic my dear Ashy."

Ash chuckles a little at his girlfriend's reaction and exclaims "I hope so Serena. I want your 18th birthday to be the best birthday you've ever had."

Serena smiles warmly at her boyfriend's clear determination as she replies will tightly grasping her blue ribbon "Ash, that is so sweet of you."

Ash smiles and reaches across the table to take Serena's hand. He holds her hand and gently rubs her palm as he whispers "Anything for you Serena. You deserve everything your getting tonight."

Serena feels her heart warm at Ash's sweet words. This could be the whole date right here and she'd be over the moon. Although, she's really interested to see what else he's got in store after this.

A few minutes go past with nothing but sweet talk between the two until the waiter passes them both a menu.

They both take a menu each and look at the vast array of choices for their evening meal.

However, the first thing that Serena notices is the expensive prices on the menu. She frowns a little as she questions "Ash, how are you affording all this?"

Ash smiles reassuringly as he explains to his girlfriend "I've got it Serena trust me. I've just got my prize money for winning the Alola league and it's a lot more than we thought. Plus I'm now getting a basic salary as well so I've got plenty of cash to treat you tonight."

Serena shakes her head slightly at Ash's spending as she replies "Ash I've told you before. I don't need expensive meals and gifts off you to be happy. Your love is more than enough."

Ash smiles at his girlfriend and exclaims in a soft tone "I know Serena. But just because you don't need them doesn't mean that you don't deserve them. So now and again on special occasions, I'm going to spoil you because I love you and you deserve the world."

Serena feels her heart dance at Ash's sweet words. He really does treat her like a queen and she feels so blessed to have him. While she still doesn't need these expensive gifts, she can accept them because Ash is giving them out of love and appreciation for her. He's not just spoiling her because she's a gold digger. No matter what he buys her, the best gift she'll always receive will be his ever lasting love and support.

Serena shakes off her thoughts as she beams a smile at her boyfriend and exclaims "You are so special Ash. I love you so much."

Ash feels his heart beat a little quicker thanks to Serena's words as he takes her her hand gives it a soft kiss.

The two spend the next few minutes choosing their food for the evening. Once they've chosen, the waiter comes over and takes their orders.

They both unsurprising pick the same as they decide on the steak special. Serena uses her legal age to add a small glass of wine on the side while poor Ash has to settle for non alcoholic beverages.

Serena teases Ash a little over that very fact as the two converse while waiting for their food. They have a very free flowing conversation as usual as they talk about all sort of subjects such as: Serena's training and performance plans, Ash looking into future leagues to challenge, betting on which one of their pokemon will confess to each other next, Delia and Serena's relationship, how they are going to spend their time in Kalos when they travel there for the masterclass, childhood stories, Ash's adventures in other regions, and of course the usual flirting and teasing between the two.

After a while the two receive their pre ordered starters. It's a sharing platter for 2 which Ash ordered upon booking. Serena is naturally very happy with her boyfriend's choice considering she loves to share food with him.

They both share and eat their starters while teasing each other about who gets to eat what.

After starters, it doesn't take long for their main courses to arrive. They both eat their steak dinner while stealing little glances at each over. Each time one of them catches the other they both giggle. The food is exquisite and so is the company they share. So far this has turned into quite the romantic dinner and Serena is itching to see what else is in store.

After they finish their main course, the waiter comes along to take their plates as they both thank him for the meal. A few minutes later he returns and hands them their dessert menus.

Ash and Serena both take a menu each and take their time to look for their dessert. As Ash looks at the menu, he frowns slightly and exclaims "Man there's so much choice, I'm not sure what I want for dessert."

Serena giggles a little at her boyfriend as she too looks at the menu. An idea pops into her head to tease her boyfriend that she definitely can't resist right now. She winks at him and whispers in a seductive tone "Why don't you have me for dessert?"

Ash instantly turns bright red at Serena's statement while Serena giggles louder at his reaction. She loves how she can make him so flustered by just a few simple words or actions.

Ash's mind races with thoughts before he quickly composes himself. He knows this is another one of their little games they play and his competitive side won't let him lose. He smirks a little as he replies in a smug tone "Is that an option?"

Serena instantly feels her whole face light up red as Ash plays his uno reverse card. She feels herself becoming flustered as she playfully punches her boyfriend's arm and snaps "Ash! We're in a restaurant!"

Ash chuckles at his girlfriend's reaction and puts himself 1-0 up in his head. He shakes his head and replies "I was only joking Serena. But looks like I win this round."

Serena finds her competitive side take over as she realises Ash was trying to get this sort of reaction out of her. Well two can play at that game. She winks at him again and tries to make herself look as irresistible as she can. She leans forward and whispers in his ear "Well my dear Ash. It may be an option later tonight, if you play your cards right."

Team Serena takes a 2-1 to lead with two late goals as Ash's face completely reddens at the statement. Serena giggles at her boyfriend's reaction as she pulls back from his ear before pecking his lips.

Ash blinks a few times as he tries to shake his mind from Serena's statement. He nearly has a nose bleed but remains strong as he sighs in defeat and admits "You win this round Serena."

Serena mentally cheers at her victory before she goes back to looking at the menu. She decides to change the subject for Ash's sake as she questions "How about we order the strawberry sundae for two?"

Ash fully regains his composure and thinks over Serena's decision. It seems perfect for her to be honest. She loves strawberry and she loves sharing food with Ash, it seems like the perfect dessert for them to share on her birthday.

Plus it'll make Serena's lips taste even more like strawberries which is a bonus for Ashy boy.

He smiles and replies "Yeah that sounds awesome."

Serena giggles slightly at her boyfriend's reaction as the waiter returns. The two order their dessert for two as they wait for it to arrive.

After a few minutes the strawberry sundae arrives, looking as tasty as imagined with naturally only one spoon for them both.

The two giggle before Ash takes the spoon and begins to feed Serena like she's a baby. Serena plays along for a bit before takes the spoon from Ash and reverses the roles.

The two go back and forth for way too long, taking a good 20 minutes to finish their dessert. Once she takes the final bite, Serena beams a smile and exclaims "That was delicious!"

Ash smiles at his girlfriend and replies "I'm glad you enjoyed it princess."

Serena beams an appreciative look at her man and exclaims "Thank you for the romantic dinner Ash. I'm really so happy that you took me out."

Ash feels a sense of accomplishment come over him that Serena is enjoying her birthday so far. He shakes his head and replies in a humble tone "No need to thank me Serena. Like I said before, I'm just trying to give you a birthday that a special girl like you deserves."

Serena feels her heart melting at Ash's constant kind words. She loves him so much for what he's done so far for her today. She shakes her head and holds her ribbon as she remarks "You certainly make me feel special Ash."

Ash smiles and exclaims "I'm glad Serena." He stands up and holds out his hand as he questions "Do you want to go see your next surprise now?"

Serena instantly gets giddy with excitement again as she takes Ash's hand and stands up from her seat. She beams an excited smile at her boyfriend and exclaims "Yeah! That's go!"

Ash chuckles at his girlfriend's reaction and leads her towards the entrance to the restaurant. He pays the bill on the way out before the two step out onto the Viridian city streets hand in hand.

Ash and Serena walk hand in hand through the dazzling lights of the night district. Serena finds herself really enjoying the feeling of walking the streets at night while having Ash's hand to hold.

Truth is, she tended to avoid going out at night in Hoenn while she was there. Something about walking alone at night and having a few idiots cat call you doesn't exactly make her feel secure.

But having Ash next to her while they walk the streets fills her with nothing security. The way he grasps her hand tightly lets her know she's safe with him.

The two continue to walk through the streets for another 10 minutes as they head to the next stop on their date. While Serena is enjoying the walk, she's also starting to get a little impatient. She frowns a little as she complains "How much further Ash, my feet are starting to hurt."

Ash tilts his head in confusion and questions "We've only been walking for 10 minutes Serena, you usually walk a lot longer when we're on a journey."

Serena pouts a little at her boyfriend's ignorant response and exclaims "Well then, why don't you try walking in heels like this if it's so easy!"

Ash gulps a little at Serena's harsh tone as he tries to think of an apology for making her walk this far. Thankfully he doesn't need to as there next destination is just in front of them.

He smiles and announces "We're here Serena!"

Serena stops her pouting and looks up to see where they are. In front of her she sees a massive festival with lights and such draped everywhere. She looks closer and can see a few stalls in the background with various clothing items. She looks further ahead and can see a few walkways with models showing off new outfits.

Serena turns her head towards her boyfriend and questions what is all this Ash?

Ash smiles and drapes an arm around Serena's shoulder as he explains "I've brought us two tickets to this years Viridian city fashion festival. I know how much you love shopping and fashion so I thought you might like to check it out. Apparently a bunch of brands show off some of there new designs here and you can even buy some exclusive fits here."

Serena feels giddy with excitement, and also her heart warm at the same time. She's heard about the festival before but never had the chance to go and see what it's all about. She's nearly at the point of shaking with excitement at all the shopping she's about to do!

But at the same time she feels so loved by her boyfriend. She knows Ash isn't at all into fashion and only tolerates shopping because of her. However despite all that, he's gone out of his way to book them both into this festival so they can spend time together, doing an activity she loves on her birthday. She really is so happy that he would do something like this for her.

Serena beams a smile up at her boyfriend and gives him a quick peck on the lips. She locks him a tight hug and exclaims "Thank you Ash! This really is the best birthday ever!"

Ash smiles at his girlfriend's statement and replies in a loving tone "That's okay beautiful, so do you want to go and check it out?"

Serena looks up at Ash with an excited grin and shouts "Of course I do!"

Ash chuckles a little at Serena's child like excitement before he takes his hand in hers. The two make their way to the front gate where Ash scans the tickets to let them both in.

They walk hand in hand through the festival as Serena bubble with excitement. She basically turns into a kid in a candy store as she gazes at all the stores around.

Eventually she gets bored of walking as she drags Ash towards a variety of different stalls and stores.

Ash just sort of goes along with it as Serena goes on a spree. While they are browsing, Serena gets a ton of people compliment her on her fashion choices. Serena as always, smiles and politely thanks everyone who compliments her.

They also manage to run into a few fans on their travels but thankfully their not as crazy as the ones in Alola.

They all are very respectful of the fact they are out together and politely ask for photos or autographs. Ash and Serena are happy to help given the polite nature of their requests.

They continue on, visiting a few stalls where Serena buys a few things for her and her pokemon but nothing too extravagant.

That is until they end up in a small store where Serena is browsing through some items. She walks past isles of clothing until she finds something that catches her eye.

She takes a sparkly silver dress of the rack, very similar to the one she's wearing right now and holds it in front of her. As she holds the dress in front of her, she is completely mesmerised by the beauty of it.

Ash notices his girlfriend's reaction as he questions in a knowing tone "You like that one don't you?"

Serena turns around towards her boyfriend with a beaming smile and replies "Yeah it's really pretty and the material is so soft. It's even in my size as well."

Ash nods in agreement with his girlfriend as she holds it up against her, in truth it would definitely look great on her. He smiles as he questions "How much is it?"

Serena checks the label on the dress and instantly frowns as she sees the price. She shakes her head and replies in a sad tone "2000 poke dollars."

Ash's eyes widen a little at the extortionate price as he looks at Serena's sad face. Arceus he hates that sad face.

Without a second thought he takes the dress from Serena's and walks up to the counter. He places the dress down and exclaims "Hi, I'd like to buy this dress for my girlfriend please."

The woman on the counter smiles and replies "Certainly sir, please scan your trainer ID when your ready."

Ash nods and takes his trainer ID out of his pocket. He goes to scan it when Serena suddenly stops him by grabbing his hand. She looks up into his eyes and remarks in a soft tone "Please Ash, you don't have to that. You've already spent enough on me with dinner and the tickets."

Ash shakes his head as he places hand on Serena's cheek while moving a strand of her honey blonde hair. He looks his girlfriend straight in the eyes and replies in a loving tone "Serena, no amount of gifts will ever be enough for you. I'm buying you this dress because I love you. You don't need to be so modest. As long as you appreciate these things then I don't mind doing them."

Serena feels her heart warm at Ash's words but she still can't get over the fact that he is spending a little recklessly. She knows he has money, in fact they both do through sponsorships their now receiving because of their fame. But that doesn't mean she wants him to become addicted to expensive things.

She takes a sigh and replies in a low tone "Okay Ash, I just don't want you to think you need to spend so much money on me. All I need is you. Plus I don't want you to become addicted to an expensive lifestyle."

Ash smiles reassuringly at his girlfriend and exclaims "I know you don't Serena, you've made that clear by now. Trust me when I say I'm being sensible. I haven't spent any of my winnings from Alola yet so I've put a large chunk of it out to spend today. The only thing this means, is that I need to win more battles."

Serena slightly giggles at the last part and Ash's reasoning overall. She kisses gently Ash on the cheek bedside she leans her head on his shoulder and whispers "Okay Ash, I trust you."

Ash smiles at his girlfriend before he whispers "Plus being a champion has its perks, a global discount on your trainer ID being one of them."

Serena chuckles a little at Ash's statement as the raven haired trainer scans his ID and purchase the dress.

The two walk out the store with Serena clutching Ash's arm while using his shoulder as a pillow. Ash chuckles a little and questions "My shoulder comfy princess?"

Serena giggles a little and grabs Ash's arm a little tighter as she replies "Definitely!"

The two continue walking for a minute until Ash suggests "So Serena, do you want to head towards the main stage? I heard there's a big fashion show starting soon."

Serena takes in her boyfriend's statement and thinks it over for a second. While she loves the idea of going to watch some of the fashion show, she also can't help but make Ash panic a little.

She frowns a little before she replies in an accusing tone "Your not just going over there because you want to see a bunch of pretty girls in tight dresses are you Ash."

Ash instantly freezes as panic overflows his mind that he's given Serena the wrong idea. He shakes his head frantically and shouts "Wait no Serena! I promise I didn't mean it like..."

Serena cuts off his rambling as she moves forward while placing a finger on his lips. She shushes him before she whispers "I was joking Ash."

Ash feels his panic calm down a little as he realises Serena was trying to get him to panic. She loves to do that from time to time because apparently it's cute.

Well two can play at that game. Ash smiles at his girlfriend and exclaims "Well why would I want to stare at a model, when I get to stare at the most beautiful girl in the world all day everyday."

Serena feels her cheeks heat up as she suddenly becomes rather flustered. She tries her best to hide it as she cuddles into Ash and replies "Thank you babe."

Ash mentally cheers at the small w as he wraps Serena up in his embrace. He kisses her forehead as she questions "So, do you want to go stage?"

Serena takes her head out from Ash's chest and looks up at him with childish grin. She nods yes as Ash chuckles before taking her hand and leading them towards the stage

Ash and Serena arrive at the stage as the fashion show begins. Many different outfits go by as models show off the latest fits from some of the biggest companies in the world.

The two enjoy seeing all the different styles of fashion, well Serena does anyway and Ash just enjoys spending time with his girlfriend.

A load of models pass by as Serena thinks to herself "Being a part of a fashion show is similar to performing in a way. I wonder if I'll ever go into fashion. I'd love to have my own clothing brand one day."

A load of companies have their displays as the two enjoy the show. However, eventually one of the models walk out in a style of dress that Serena recognises.

Serena beams a smile as she shouts "That's one of Valerie's dresses!"

Ash looks up and sees a model walking down the runway in a very similar dress to the one Serena wore in her Dendemille town showcase. He chuckles a little at it as he feels a wave of nostalgia flow over him.

Serena hears her boyfriends laughter as she turns towards him and questions "What's so funny Ash?"

Ash shakes off his laughter and explains "Do you remember Dendemile town."

Serena takes a 2nd to think back before she remembers the day she modelled for Valerie. She instantly feels a little embarrassed at the memory as she exclaims "Please don't remind me! I was so embarrassed having that many people watching me on that runway. Then when I saw you watching I was even more embarrassed that my crush was watching me."

Ash chuckles a little at his girlfriend's clear embarrassment and replies "I could tell by your face, you looked a little nervous the whole time."

Serena faces her boyfriend and questions with a hint of nervousness in her tone "So what did you think honestly, when I walked out to model."

Ash thinks back to Serena waking out to model and what he thought at the time. He smiles and admits "At first I was shocked that it was you. Then when I saw what you were wearing. I thought to myself that you looked pretty. Then I remember this warm feeling come over me. That only increased when Sawyer said something about me travelling with a model. A few seconds after I remember thinking to myself, Serena could be a model."

Serena feels little butterflies in her stomach as she hears what Ash thought about her back then. She rests her head on his arm and nonchalantly replies "Na, you were to dense to think that. You probably were just thinking about if you could get that gym battle now."

Ash chuckles a little and wraps and arm around Serena as they watch the show. He smiles and counters "You see Serena, I wasn't dense enough to not feel anything. I was just dense to understand those feelings."

Serena cuddles into Ash and whispers "At least your still not like that. Well sometimes."

Ash shakes his head at his girlfriend's statement before he leans down and gives her a small peck on the lips.

The two watch the rest of the show before they start walking towards the exit to the festival. As they walk, Serena beams a smile and exclaims "That was a lot of fun Ash."

Ash smiles at his girlfriend as he wraps an arm around her waist and replies "It's no problem princess."

As they walk away from the festival, Serena feels completely satisfied with how the date has gone. As birthday's go there is no more that Ash could do to make this any better. It's already a 10/10 in her book.

She looks up to her boyfriend and questions "So, are we going back to Pallet town now?"

Ash shakes his head and informs his girlfriend, "Not yet Serena. There's still one more place I want to take you."

Serena looks up at her boyfriend with an excited smile as she questions "Where are we going."

Ash smirks and replies "It's still a surprise Serena, but I promise you, your going to enjoy this one."

Serena puts her faith in her boyfriend and exclaims "Well, you haven't let me down yet."

Ash smiles at her statement as he replies with a hint of determination in his tone "I'll never let you down Serena."

Serena giggles a little at Ash's promise as the two head towards Serena's final surprise.

Ash leads Serena out of Viridian city and into Viridian forest, much to Serena's confusion. She holds his hand as Ash takes them deeper in.

It's at this point that Serena begins to re think her choice of outfit as they begin to walk over rough terrain. At this moment she's very much regretting giving this date a 10/10.

Ash is essentially leading her through a dark forest in the middle of the night while risking ruining her new dress and heels.

She keeps her faith in her boyfriend as they continue to make their way through the forest. She shakes her head as she thinks to herself "I swear if all he's doing is leading me over here to catch a pokemon then he's getting no kisses tonight!"

However, she soon draws the line as she sees a massive pile of mud in front of her that Ash leaps over like it's nothing. Her patience runs thin as she folds her arms and snaps "Ashton!"

Ash turns around upon hearing his full name being spoken. He frowns a little as he questions "What's the matter babe? We're literally two minutes away now."

Serena shakes her head at his ignorance and scolds "Ash I'm wearing high heels and an expensive dress. I am not jumping through a forest like we're on a journey in the middle of the day! Tell me where we're going before I tell your mom what you've done!"

Ash gulps a little at her tone as he shakes a little in fear. It looks like Serena is going into her scary mode again where she yells at him. Or as Ash has named it, Serena Giritina origin form.

He realises he was being a bit unreasonable making her walk through a forest with her current attire so understands why she's unhappy.

He sighs before he apologises "I'm sorry Serena, but I need to keep it a surprise. I promise it'll be worth it. I'll even carry you the rest of the way."

Serena huffs as she turns her head away and sticks her nose in the air. She closes her eyes as she snaps "Fine!"

Ash sweat drops at her reaction as he approaches his girlfriend and scoops her up bridal style. Serena refuses to make eye contact as she continues to pout. Ash feels his nerves kick in as he thinks to himself "I hope she likes this surprise. Otherwise I might not get out of this woods alive."

Ash carries Serena for another 2 minutes until they reach their destination. Ash smiles as he finds the exact spot. He places Serena down on her own two feet and exclaims "Okay Serena you can open your eyes now. We're here."

Serena continues to rage as she thinks to herself "I swear this better be good."

She opens her eyes and immediately gasps in shock at what she sees. Her eyes sparkle as she sees a familiar spot with a blanket laid out on the floor. A glass sits on either side of the blanket while a bottle of expensive champagne sits in the middle. Candles line the outside of the blanket, leaving a romantic lighting floating in the air.

Serena blinks a few times as she mutters "It was here, the place where we first met."

Ash smiles and explains "Yeah, I found the exact spot a few days ago before I started training. Yesterday I got Charizard and Sceptile to scout this place out and set up all this for me. So do you like it?"

Serena feels her heart beating so fast at what she sees and what she's hearing. Her previous distain for Ash bringing for out her subsides, as her favourite surprise of the night stares her in the face. She can't believe Ash found this place again but it makes her brim with emotion and nostalgia at the same time. This whole set up is the most romantic thing she's ever seen in her life. Right now she loves Ash more than ever before and she is ecstatic to call him her lover. This is honestly the best thing anything has ever done for her, even if it is so simple. It's the best present she's ever received.

Unable to control herself anymore, Serena explodes with emotion as she lets off a squeal before running towards her boyfriend. She leaps forward as Ash catches her. She wraps her legs around Ash's waist before as he holds her up. She instantly cups his cheeks before slamming her lips straight into his. Ash's eyes widen at the sudden kiss before he joins Serena in their signature dance.

It looks like she's flipped the switch and gone back to loving Serena, much to Ash's relief. The two make out and twist tongues for a good minute before they break for air. As they do, Serena beams a smile at her boyfriend and exclaims with a tear of joy welling in her eye. "I love it! I love you! This is the nicest thing anyone has ever done for me! I love you! I love you and I love you!"

Ash beam a smile as he mentally cheers at his girlfriend's positive response. He smiles and replies in a low tone "I love you too Serena, so would you say it was worth coming out here?"

Serena nods frantically and shouts "Definitely!"

Ash chuckles at his girlfriend's admission. 5 minutes ago she was about ready to bury him in the woods and now she's kissed him a million times and said I love you 3 times. He thinks to himself "Still amazes me how girls work."

He shakes off his thoughts and gestures towards the blanket as he suggests "Do you want to sit down."

Serena nods in agreement before Ash carries her over to the blanket and places her down. He takes a seat opposite her and pops up open the Champagne. Ash pours a glass for Serena before he pours a glass for himself. Yes Ash may still be 17, but only just and his mom gave him permission so he'll be okay.

Ash holds the glass up and exclaims "Happy 18th birthday Serena!"

Serena giggles and shouts "Cheers!" The two clink the glasses together before they take a sip each.

Serena lowers her glass down and takes a refreshed breath upon tasting the beverage. She looks around at the candles around her and at the romantic set up Ash has made. She smiles at her boyfriend as she questions "So, how did you find this place again?"

Ash smiles at her and explains "Well, I really wanted to find it again because I know how much this place means to us both. But I really had no idea how to find it. So I decided to use what brought us here in the first place, Poliwag. I researched locations where Poliwag's tend to gather around Viridian forest with Professor Oak's help. While they are extremely rare around the forest, there is a small spot around a lake not too far from here where they gather. From there I just searched the surrounding area with my flying types until we found it. Yesterday I got Charizard and Sceptile to set up for me while I got Gary to get us the champagne. My mom chose the candles for me because she's better at this stuff than me. It took a lot of work but it was a real team effort."

Serena feels a warm feeling rise up at her boyfriend's explanation. She smiles at him and replies "Well, I'm really grateful that you found this again. I'll be sure to thank everyone who helped later."

Ash smiles back at his girlfriend and exclaims "Yeah your right. This whole place is really special."

Serena smiles as she takes another sip of her bubbly beverage. Ash can't help but smile at Serena as she sits near the same spot she sat in when they first met all those years ago. Back then he found a: small, timid and cute little girl, all scared and nervous sitting by a tree. Now in front of him, he sees a beautiful, confident young lady, sipping her champagne so elegantly with a beaming bright smile on her face.

Ash can't help but feel proud at just how much she's grown up over the years. Her journey into becoming what she is now is one he'll always feel pride for being apart of.

Serena notices her boyfriend's look as she smirks and casually remarks "Your drooling again Ash."

Ash snaps out of his thoughts and let's off a nervous laugh. He scratches the back of his head and apologises "Sorry Serena, I was just thinking about how beautiful you are and how much you've grown up since we first met. I'm so proud of you for just how much you've grown."

Serena feels her heart warm at Ash's words as she smiles at her boyfriend. She puts a hand on her ribbon and replies "I'm proud of you too Ash. You've grown up a lot too, even if you didn't remember me at first."

Ash sighs at Serena's remark and questions "Are you ever going to let me live that down?"

Serena giggles a little and replies "No!"

Ash feels a little bad inside that he didn't remember Serena when first when they met again. Well he remembered his encounter with the straw hat girl, just not what her name was or what happened after.

Feeling as though he needs to prove that, he smirks and challenges "I bet I can remember every word we said to each other back then now."

Serena feels her competitive spirit rise up as she questions "You want to try and say our lines again?"

Ash decides to rise to challenge as he nods and replies "Yeah, let's do it."

Ash takes a deep breath and gets himself into character before he starts "Poliwag! Poliwag!....huh, are you alright?"

Serena giggles a little before puts herself into character. She puts a shocked look on her face and let's off a surprised "Huh?"

Ash puts an innocent childish look on his face and exclaims while pointing to himself "Hi I'm Ash! Who are you?"

Serena lets off another nervous "Huh?"

Ash smiles reassuringly as he questions "What's wrong?"

Serena puts a worried look on her face and explains nervously "I hurt, my leg."

Ash moves closer to Serena and looks at her leg. Of course these days her legs are completely fine, in fact they are pretty alluring if you ask him. However, he stays in character and finds the exact spot she hurt all those years ago.

He knells in front of her and exclaims "Don't worry, you see this. This will make it better!"

Ash pretends to pull a handkerchief out his pocket and fake wraps it around her leg. Unfortunately he didn't bring the real thing with him, even if he does still know exactly where it is.

He beams a smile at his girlfriend and remarks in a carefree tone "All done!"

Serena lets off a fake groan of pain, surprised by how well this little role play is going.

Ash beams a childish grin and moves his hands closer to Serena's leg before he exclaims "Now watch this! Feel better feel better right away!"

Serena watches Ash do the exact same hand movements he done as a kid which makes it very hard for her to stay in character. She bites her tongue to catch her giggles before she moans "It still hurts I can't stand up!"

Ash takes his queue and rises to his feet. He extends his hand down towards his girlfriend and exclaims "Never give up until it's over, okay? Come on!"

Serena feels her heart shaking as Ash repeats his words. She puts a shocked look on her face while letting of a nervous "Huh?"

She tentatively brings her hand towards Ash's before Ash reaches further down to grab her hand. He pulls her up with the same force as last time, pulling her into a hug. Serena lets off a surprised sound before she pulls back and looks into Ash's eyes with her pupils expanding as a small glint shines in her eyes.

Ash lets off a toothy grin as he giggles slightly and exclaims "There we go!"

He points towards the same spot he did all those years ago and exclaims "I think we should be getting back to the campsite, kay come on!"

Ash begins to lead Serena away as her eyes widen. Their hands intertwine as they begin to walk off.

However, Serena is definitely not quite ready to leave yet. She pulls Ash back towards her and immediately slams into him with a sloppy wet kiss.

Ash mentally laughs at his girlfriend's remix before joining her in the kiss. After a good minute of making out in the forest, they break apart with smiles on their faces.

Ash smirks a little as he teases "That wasn't in the script."

Serena giggles a little at the statement and exclaims "Well this is the remake, do you like it."

Ash smiles and replies with a small nod "Definitely!"

The two giggle and smile at each other before they lean in for a quick peck on the lips.

After they break apart again, Ash decides that now seems like a good a time as any to give Serena his final present of the day.

He takes a deep breath before he exclaims "Serena, I have a present I want to give you."

Serena shakes her head a little and replies in a soft tone "Ash, you've brought me dinner, taken me to a fashion show, brought me a really cute dress and taken back to where we first met. I would say that's more than enough."

Ash smiles at his girlfriend and exclaims "I know baby, but I wanted to get you something more, something that you can cherish. Something that'll hold a special meaning to you. I know you'll always be thankful for those other things but they'll never be something physically with you forever. I wanted to give you something that you'll look at toremember this night, and remember someone else very special to you as well."

Serena finds herself becoming a little nervous and a little excited by the words coming out of Ash's mouth. She can tell he's really thought hard about this gift and she feels so loved that he has.

Ash takes a breath before she reaches into his jacket pocket and takes out a neatly wrapped small box. He beams a smile at his girlfriend and exclaims "Happy birthday Serena."

Serena smiles as she takes the gift from his hands and replies quietly "Thank you."

She takes the gift and carefully unwraps it, making sure not to damage anything in the process. She removes the wrapping paper to see a small black box underneath. Serena can instantly tell it's a jewellery box of some sorts.

Thankfully, she can already tell that the box is too big to be a ring so there's no confusion there. While she would have said yes if this was a proposal, she's glad it's not.

She has already hinted to Ash that she associates marriage with settling down. She wants to get married when they are about to start a new chapter in their lives, when they have both achieved their dreams and are moving on towards new ones. That way the marriage will feel like they are both moving on to this new chapter together, as one.

Moving away from Serena's dream scenario. She carefully unwraps the box and opens it up. What she sees inside instantly captures her eye as she gasps in shock. She reaches into the box and pulls out her gift.

She holds it in her hand, a pure diamond chain necklace that will go perfectly with her current outfit. Attached to the expensive necklace, is a diamond pendant with little blue sapphires attached around the outside. The necklace can only be described in one word, beautiful.

Serena blinks a few times as she holds the gift in her hand. She absolutely loves the look of it and it just so happens to be the exact style of necklace she's been looking for.

Ash smiles at his girlfriend and moves behind her to give her a hug from behind. He smiles and explains "I heard you the other day complaining that you can never find a necklace that you really like. So I searched up and found this one that I thought would look great on you. It reminds me a little of my locket you got me but it's so much more pristine than that."

Serena feels her heart melting that Ash actually listened to her. He does pick up on what she says and tries to find solutions to her problems. She beams a smile and exclaims "Thank you Ash! I promise I'll take a good care of it."

Ash smiles at his girlfriend's statement and whispers "I know you will darling."

Ash takes the necklace from Serena's hand and carefully place it around her neck. He clicks it on before moving in front of her. As predicted, the necklace completes her look perfectly as it shines in contrast with her dress as the pendant sparkles just above her chest, near enough to her heart.

Ash smiles and exclaims "Absolutely gorgeous."

Serena looks down at the necklace and beams a smile. She places a hand on her blue ribbon while gazing at her boyfriend lovingly as she replies "I love it Ash."

Ash smiles, feeling happy that Serena is happy, however there is still something he's hiding. He reaches forward and takes the pendant on the bottom of the necklace into his hand.

Serena begins to become a little nervous as to where Ash's hand are heading but quickly composes herself once she sees a reassuring smile on his face. Ash looks her in the eye and states "There's something else about his necklace as well Serena."

Serena tilts her head in confusion and questions "What is it Ash?"

Ash smiles at her and exclaims "Let me show you."

He takes the diamond pendant and clicks a small switch on the back. Suddenly the heart shape pendant opens up to show a picture of a small honey blonde girl with an elderly looking man smiling with her.

Serena gasps in shock upon seeing the picture as she instantly feels tears well up in her eyes. She shakes a little with emotion as she questions "Is....is that...."

Ash can tell she's too emotional to speak so decides to step in. He wraps an arm around her shoulder for comfort as he exclaims "Yeah it's a picture of you and your grandfather."

A single tear drops down Serena's cheek as she questions in a shaky tone "B...b.. b..but.....h...how."

Ash cuddles into Serena a little more and explains "Remember when we were talking the other day and you said you have no sort of items or photos to remember him by. Well I did some digging and found this picture. I know how much he means to you so I wanted you to have something to remember him by. Now whenever your feeling sad or you just want to see him. You can open up that pendant and apart of him will always be with you."

Serena can't help but let off tears of happiness as Ash talks. This is the sweetest and the nicest gift she has ever received of anyone. It's such a thoughtful thing to do and she feels so lucky that Ash did it.

She sniffs back a tear and looks at her boyfriend dead in the eyes. She gives him a loving gaze and whispers in an emotional voice "This is the nicest thing anyone has ever done for me. I love you so much."

Ash smiles and takes his girlfriend into his warm embrace as she buries her head in her chest. Serena cries a little more as Ash pecks her forehead and whispers "I love you too Serena."

The two settle in each other's arms before they look up at each other and share a kiss as the moonlight beams down upon them.

They soon find themselves sat back down on the blanket as they watch the stars above while cuddled up tight together.

Serena takes a sigh as she thinks to herself "Best birthday ever!"

A few hours go by as the two just sit cuddled up, enjoying the warmth of each others love. They talk, they laugh and they enjoy the company they both provide.

They could stay there all night but sleeping in the woods with no tent isn't really advisable. A fact that only becomes clearer when Serena lets out a little yawn.

Ash looks down at his girlfriend and questions "Are you getting sleepy beautiful."

Serena looks up her boyfriend and nods as she replies "Yeah a little, maybe we should start heading back. Pallet town is a long way."

Ash let's off a small chuckle and cryptically exclaims "Well about that."

Serena puts on a confused look as she questions "What is it Ash?"

Ash smiles reassuringly at his girlfriend and admits "Well you see, I didn't really know how long this date would go on for. So I decided to book a hotel in Viridian city. I thought it would be a nice surprise. Don't worry I've moved some stuff in for us yesterday. I just thought it would be nice to have a night to ourselves without having to worry about my mom if you know what I mean."

Oh Serena definitely knows what he means!

Since Gary interrupted them the other day she's been itching to have a little alone time with her boyfriend. Unfortunately with Delia around, they haven't really had the perfect chance yet. Well tonight will provide that opportunity for sure.

Serena smiles at her boyfriend and exclaims "I know what you mean Ash, and I think I'm about ready to leave now."

Ash nods and exclaims "Me too Serena!"

He scoops Serena up into his arms and adds "It's only a 5 minute walk away but still, don't want you getting dirty."

Serena giggles a little at Ash's statement and replies "Well then let's go!"

Ash chuckles at Serena's clear excitement as he walks out of the clearing and back towards Viridian city for one final stop on their date.

Ash and Serena head back into the city and check into a quiet 5 star hotel. Ash has even made sure to book a room in the VIP section where there are no other guests anywhere near the two.

They make their way up to the top floor while Ash carries his girlfriend bridal style. They reach the room as Serena scans the room card while Ash opens the door.

The two step inside and look around at the lavish room in front of them. The room has everything you'd expect from a room of this price. Tv, showers, Jacuzzi, lots of free space to relax in.

But there's only one place Serena wants to go to right now.

Ash looks around the room and questions "So you what do you want to do honey? Watch tv, take a shower, put on a movie."

Serena smirks a little as she leans up and pecks her boyfriend's lips. She whispers in a soft tone "Take me to bed Ash."

Ash gulps a little at her tone as he further questions "But wouldn't you went to get changed first before going to sleep Serena."

Serena frowns a little at Ash's dense nature. She decides to let him off for now as she shakes her head and simply states "Bed!"

Ash instantly shivers at the tone and obliges. He takes Serena over to the king size bed and puts her down on one side. He lays down on the other side and asks "So, now what Seren...."

Serena cuts her boyfriend of and pounces on him as she straddles his waist while locking their lips together. She burst her tongue straight through with aggressive as she begins a make out session.

Ash's widen at the aggressive kiss before he shrugs it off and kisses his girlfriend back. The two engage in their usual signature dance of love as hey continue from where they left off the other day.

Their hands roam around as Ash settles his on Serena's curvy hips while she begins to unbutton his shirt.

The two continue to make out for a few minutes before the need for oxygen breaks them apart. Ash breathes a little heavy with his shirt fully unbuttoned as he questions "Serena, what is it..... you want."

Serena ogles at her boyfriend as she rubs her palms against his chest. She smiles at him and whispers "You know what I want Ash."

Ash's eyes widen a little as he questions for confirmation "Are you sure Serena."

Serena leans down and pecks his lips before she replies "Positive, I trust you Ash and I'm ready for it. Please, can we?"

A small smirk rises onto the raven haired trainer's face as fully obliges with Serena's statement. He grabs Serena by the hips and flips her over, causing her to let out a small yelp before they reengage each others lips.

The two lovers continue on into the night as they go further on than they ever have before.

They engage in a dance of love that takes them closer together. They become one with each other as they let their love for on and other take control.

A fire sparks bright between the two that could never be extinguished as they let themselves become lost in their intimacy.

The young lovers make a promise to each other through their actions that their love for each other will only grow stronger from here on out.

They cement an everlasting bond and love for each other that will always be present no matter what.

Tonight has been a night for a lot of firsts.

A first birthday as a couple.

A first date in the region they both hold dear.

The first time they will celebrate their love in their own special dance of affection.

While it won't be the last by any means for all these things.

Or maybe even the best.

It'll always be the first.

It'll always be a special day for that reason.

It'll always be an 18th birthday to remember.

A birthday that they all always cherish forever.

I was originally planning on just doing Serena's birthday as a summary.

But in the end it was too good an opportunity to pass up.

So now that we've had Serena's birthday.

Do you guys want a part two for Ash's birthday.

I'm planning on doing that in a few chapters time so let me know.

Also, the way I wrote this chapter from scratch is a way that means I might be able to get chapters up quicker in the future.

So let me know if you guys notice a dip in quality or negatives in this chapter.

Obviously I always have a plan for my chapters but usually I write a rough draft first instead of just going all out from the start.

In this chapter I skipped a rough draft and just wrote a final.

So if the quality is just as good I'll do that for quicker updates.

It certainly hasn't effected the word count I'll tell you that.

Anyway, the next chapter will be back to the plot.

Ash and Serena will be going to Kalos for their final preparations before the masterclass.

However, what happens when they underestimate their popularity in Lumiose city?
