"Nyeeeeh...Kokichiiii, I'm bored," Himiko whined one Saturday morning as she trudged into Kokichi and Gonta's room. She plopped herself onto Kokichi's bed and leaned her head on his shoulder.
"Nee-heehee...it's nice to be on the other side for once," Kokichi laughed, ruffling Himiko's hair affectionately. "M'kay, how about we...prank Kaito?"
"We did that on Thursday," Himiko said. "And Kaito still hasn't gotten all the glue out of his hair, so he's still out to kill you."
"Yeah, you're right," Kokichi replied, nodding. "Hmm...ooo! Let's go do some magic in your magic-y room!"
"Ugh...it takes so much work to chant spells and mystically wave my arms all over the place," Himiko groaned.
"Okay, then," Kokichi said thoughtfully. Just then, a naughty smile crossed his face. "Wanna make out?" Himiko opened her mouth to reply, but a blush formed on her face, as well as an impish smile of her own. She looked up at Kokichi.
"Well...I think I am in a kind of romantic mood," she admitted.
"Okay, then, let's go!" Kokichi said, holding Himiko's hand and leading her out of the room. "Where should our make out spot for today be?"
"Hm, how about the park?" Himiko suggested.
"Nah, I don't think so," Kokichi replied, scrunching his face. "It's Saturday, which means there's probably gonna be a lot of kids there. We don't want them interrupting us."
"You're right," Himiko agreed, tapping her chin in thought.
"Ooo! I know! How about on top of the hill in the backyard?" Kokichi said. "That place is always pretty romantic!" Himiko shuddered.
"Yeah, but this is the time of year when the bugs are everywhere," she said. "Remember what happened when we made out last week? A bee flew on my arm and I freaked out." Himiko paused to pout at Kokichi. "You laughed at me."
"Nee-heehee...that was the fastest I've ever seen you run," Kokichi said. "It was kiiiinda funny!"
"It wasn't!" Himiko huffed, poking out her lower lip.
"I'm sorry, Monkey Buns," Kokichi said with a cheeky smile. He leaned in forward to kiss her cheek. "Welp, if it's not the park, or the backyard, where do you wanna go?"
"Maybe somewhere secluded so nobody can interrupt us?" Himiko thought out loud.
"Yeah! And dark!" Kokichi added. "I know the perfect place!"
"What place?"
"The movie theater!" Kokichi replied.
"But...that's not really secluded," Himiko said.
"It is if it's an early showing," Kokichi pointed out. "There's usually not that many people in the morning, unless it's a really good movie. We can sit way in the back, away from any people who are there! Also, we should go to a movie that's loud so nobody can hear us." Himiko began to smile.
"Nyeh...that sounds great," she said. "But what movie? Should it be an action movie, or horror?"
"Definitely action!" Kokichi said. Himiko began smiling with glee.
"Okay!" she said. They held hands and began skipping outside. They skipped merrily down the street on the way to the movies.
"We're going to the movies to make out, to make out! We're going to the movies to make out! Hooray!" they sang. On their way there, however, they passed a toy store. Something caught Kokichi's eye. He stopped skipping abruptly and peered into the store window with wide eyes.
"Himikoooo..." he murmured in a low voice. "Look at that!" On display were two pairs of blue and white high-tech roller skates and cool-looking helmets of the same color. Himiko pressed her face against the window in awe, too.
"Nyeh...those look so cool!" she exclaimed.
"Right?!" Kokichi said. "We'd be the coolest kids on the block with those babies!"
"Yeeeaaahhh..." Himiko agreed dreamily. They both imagined themselves rolling down the street with their cool roller skates and helmets. In their daydream, they wore sunglasses and were doing cool dance moves while skating.
"I bet those things are as expensive as Kaito's grandma's wigs!" Kokichi sighed, coming out of his reverie.
"Let's go ask the shopkeeper," Himiko said.
"Good idea, HimiCocoa Bean!" Kokichi said. Hand in hand, they stepped inside the toy store. "Excuse me, sir? How much for those two pairs of roller skates and the helmets?"
"¥50,000," the shopkeeper answered.
"FIFTY THOUSAND YEN?!?!" Kokichi and Himiko exclaimed with horror. The shopkeeper shrugged apologetically.
"Sorry, kids," he said. Kokichi and Himiko left the store with slumped shoulders.
"How are we going to get that much money?" Himiko asked.
"I'm not sure," Kokichi replied, tapping his chin in thought.
"Nyeeeehhh! This is so frustrating!" Himiko grumbled. "And to think, we could be skating down Mount Fuji right now, or something!"
"Or Sakurajima!" Kokichi pointed out. Himiko looked at him with excitement.
"Skating down Japan's most active volcano?!" she gasped. "Nyeh! That's amaaaazing!"
"Haha, right?!" Kokichi laughed. "We have to get those skates now!"
"Um...should we get jobs?" Himiko asked.
"Pfff...no way! That'll take too long!" Kokichi scoffed. "Those skates will be gone by the time we earn enough money to buy them! Plus, I'm the Ultimate Supreme Leader! I don't need to work!"
"Oh! Well...how about you get your secret...you-know-what to do...you know?" Himiko asked, lowering her voice.
"I would, but, naaah," Kokichi replied with a shrug. "I know they'd fight over the skates." They both sighed, trying to think of ways to come up with money. "Well...I can't think of anything."
"Me, neither," Himiko said sadly.
"Welp, we might as well just forget about the skates and go to the movies," Kokichi mumbled.
"It's going to be a depressing make out session today," Himiko added sadly. They began trudging past the buildings. Himiko wasn't watching where she was going. She ran right into a telephone pole and fell to the ground. "OW!!" she screamed in pain.
"You okay?" Kokichi asked, helping her up. He gently rubbed her forehead to make sure she wasn't hurt too badly.
"I guess," Himiko replied. "It wasn't too bad, thanks to all the posters on there." She pointed at the telephone pole to a bunch of advertisements taped to it. Kokichi looked with curiosity at them. There were advertisements for a bakery, a school dance, an open job at a nursing home, a new restaurant, and a hair salon. One ad in particular, however, caught Kokichi's attention. He ripped it off of the telephone pole.
"Hey, Himiko, look at this," he said, showing her the poster. "It's an ad for a baby pageant!"
"Nyeh...but, we don't have a baby," Himiko said. She looked at Kokichi with caution and backed a few steps away from him. "And I don't want one!" Kokichi smiled and rolled his eyes.
"No, you dweeb, we're not doing that! " he said, taking her hand and pulling her back to him. "Look! The winner of this pageant will win ¥100,000! That's twice more than what we need! We're definitely entering this contest!"
"How?" Himiko asked. "Don't tell me you're going to steal someone's baby!" Kokichi gave her one of his mischievous smiles.
"I don't have to," he replied deviously. "I got something else in mind."
