TEAM RAINBOW ROCKET HEADQUARTERS
Giovanni sits in his big office chair while twisting around a pokeball in his hands. He smirks at the pokeball and says "It's good to have you back." Suddenly he gets a knock on his door that diverts his attention away from his pokeball. "Come in," Giovanni bellows with putting a hand on his ever trusty Persian. Suddenly the door creaks open as Guzma strides in and takes a seat on a smaller chair opposite Giovanni.
"You wanted to see me." The team skull leader questions." Giovanni chuckles and says "Yes Guzma, I require your assistance for my research you see." Guzma raises his eyebrow and asks "What assistance and for what research." Giovanni says "Why I need you is unimportant. What I need you to do however, is of the upmost importance." Guzma sighs and replies "Fine Giovanni what is it you want."
Giovanni chuckles before grabbing a tablet off the table and passing it to Guzma. Upon seeing the image on the tablet Guzma raises an eyebrow and asks "A girl? What's so important about her." Giovanni chuckles lightly and says "Everything about her is very important to our ultimate plan. Either way she's going to make the most powerful human in the world once I get what I need."
Guzma, not really understanding Giovanni's cryptic language asks "You want us to capture her right." Giovanni thinks for a moment before he grins deviously and says "Ideally yes, however Guzma I am not a fool. I understand that she will have some form of protection. Ketchum will never be so stupid as to leave her vulnerable."
Guzma raises his eyebrow again and remarks with surprise "She is involved with Ketchum." Giovanni chuckles and says "Everything we do is always related to Ketchum my dear friend." Hearing that the girl in question has connections to Ash is all Guzma needs to be sold on the idea. He grins and says "We'll get her don't worry. Where is she."
Giovanni smiles and says "Hoenn." Guzma almost falls off his chair and asks "Isn't that Archie and Maxie's domain." Giovanni shrugs and remarks "Usually it would be but they are busy with other tasks that need attending to. Plus their grunts will stand out like a sore thumb."
Guzma nods in agreement and replies "Okay what do you want us to do." Giovanni smirks and answers "The girl will be most vulnerable at the Hoenn grand festival 3 days from now. I would like you to send in your best guys undercover and try to take her as suitably as possible with no hints what so ever. That means no logos, we can not be discovered too early so do this with no mention of any evil organisation."
Guzma takes in the request and stands up from his chair. "Consider it done sir." With that Guzma takes his leave and exits the room. After Guzma takes the tablet and says with an evil grin on his face "I don't care who it is but one of you two aura freaks is giving me the power I desire."

3 days later
Serena's POV
I slowly stir as the sound of my alarm clock bellows through out my room. I slam my hand on the stop button and sit up as I rub my eyes. I groggily check the time and my messages on my tablet when I realise something. Today is the day!
How could I forget today is the day of the grand festival! I spring out of bed and draw my curtains as I take in a deep breath of fresh air. The morning Hoenn air so fresh as usual. I look out at the city blow and shout "Good morning world! Today is the day I win the Hoenn grand festival!"!
I get down from my window and stride towards the kitchen with a spring in my step. I quickly begin to get to work in the kitchen, making myself a healthy light breakfast while getting breakfast ready for my Pokémon too. I make sure to eat light today. Performing on a heavy stomach is not something I fancy trying. I ready mine and my Pokémon's food as I release them from their pokeballs. We all eat our fill and share our enthusiasm for the upcoming contest.
After breakfast, my Pokémon lounge around my room watching tv while I take a hot morning shower. I set my speaker up and played some upbeat music to get us all in the mood for todays events while I cleaned up.
After making sure I smelled good for todays competition I put on my bath robe and went back in to my room. I laid on my bed while letting my
hair dry. While waiting I flicked through my social media's and responded to some good luck messages from my friends.
After my hair dried I put on my usual outfit and made sure to tie my special blue ribbon to my dress as tight as possible. I sat in front of my mirror and applied some light makeup to my face. I didn't want to over do it now as I'll do it properly in my changing room before the contest but I needed something just to make sure I'm presentable. After fixing my hair up I stood in front of my mirror with a smile on my face.
I felt nearly ready but there was still one more thing I needed to do. I closed my eyes and I focused my aura. A few seconds later my vision reappeared and I found myself waking towards a huge gate with my other usual faces beside me. Looking through Ash's eyes, I could sense that he was just as excited as me today. He strode towards a big gate with confidence and a happy smile on his face. He seemed really determined, maybe he has a trial today. That would kind of suck because I really want him to watch my contest but if he's happy then I'll be happy too. If he's going to win. I'm going to win to.
Seeing his cute little grin he does was all I needed. I quickly stopped focusing my aura before I over stayed my welcome. A few seconds later I returned to my own vision as I gazed into the mirror with a confident smile. I turned away and grabbed my bag and headed out the hotel with Sylveon by my side. As I walked through the Hoenn streets I could only think one thing. Nothing can go wrong today. Nothing. No matter what I am winning this competition.

Normal POV
After 3 long days of travelling, Ash and the gang arrive at Poni canyon ready for the final island trial. Ash without any hesitation strides straight towards the trial captain as he approaches the gate. Mallow tilts her head and warns him "Ash, are you sure you don't want to plan your strategy first." Ash shakes his head and says with a small grin "Na, I've got it right here." He puts his fist to his heart and takes a small breath before looking at the group with a warm smile.
Mallow rubs her head with confusion thanks to Ash's cryptic talk and says to no one in particular "What does he mean by shake." kiawe chuckles lightly and answers "Only Ash knows that trust me." Ash ignores the small talk and pushes the large gate open. As the gate opens he sees a massive canyon completely open with a battlefield in the middle. A large crowd gathers as usual while Hapu stands on the other side of the battlefield with her arms folded.
Ash wastes no time and walks directly to the battlefield and takes his spot while the crowd roars at his sudden presence. He smirks and says "Hapu, I'm Ash Ketchum from Pallet town and I'm I'm here to challenge you for the groundium z." Hapu smiles and says "So yall actually made it her in just a week I'm impressed." Ash smirks and says "Yeah, we can do anything we set our mind to like winning this battle today. Hapu replies "Y'all know I like dis fightin talk. Now let's begin.
The referee takes his spot and explains "This battle will be a 3v3 battle between the Challenger Ash Ketchum from Pallet town and the Kahuna Hapu. The winner will be decided when either sides pokemon are unable to battle. Trainers please send out your first Pokémon." Hapu takes a pokeball off her belt and yells "Okay Flygon your up first." Flygon exits his pokeball and flys around on the battlefield before settling down. Ash raises his eyebrow and says "A Flygon him. Okay then, I'm going to start off with this one." He takes a pokeball off his belt and exclaims while throwing it forward "Hakamo-o, I choose you." Ash's dragon hits the field and let's out a large roar before glaring at his opponent. Hapu smirks and says "So it's a dragon on dragon match up." Ash grins and says "We'll show you what we're made off."
"Flygon start this off with dragon pulse."Hapu exclaims. Flygom nods and release a purple dragon shaped beam towards his opponent. "Hakamo-o counter with dragon breath," Ash yells in response. Hakamo-o nods and fires off a smaller beam of dragon energy towards Flygon. The two attacks collide and push against each other. It's clear Flygon's dragon pulse is more powerful but dragon breath can hold it off for now as both attacks explode causing a small cloud of smoke.
Ash pumps his fist and orders "Use dragon claw." Hakamo-o nods and extends his claws before turning them bright green and charging towards Flygon. "You too Flygon," Hapu responds. Flygon extends his claws causing them to glow bright green before flying towards his fellow dragon type. The two slash each other with dragon claws causing them both to fall back towards their trainers.
"It's strong,"Ash mutter while Hakamo-o shakes off any damage. "I think we can agree on that," says Hapu while Flygon shakes his head trying to shrug off the hit.Ash extends his hand forward and shouts "Use bulk up quick." Hakamo-o flexes his muscles as they glow bright red before a green glow envelopes him symbolising a stat boost. Hapu shakes her head and says "If y'all boosting so are we, use dragon dance." Flygon nods and flies up into the air while doing a small ritual like dance before glowing green symbolising a boost to his stats.
With both Pokémon powering up Ash decides enough is enough and goes on the offensive. "Hakamo-o, use dragon breath again" Hakamo-o nods and fires off a purple beam of dragon energy towards his opponent. "Dodge it Flygon, then use dragon claw," exclaims Hapu. Flygon nods and takes to the sky with impressive speeds dodging the incoming attack before charging towards their opponents with their claws extended. "Block it with dragon claw off your own," Hakamo-o extends his green glowing claws and raises them in an x shape in front of himself in an attempt to protect himself. Flygon pushes against the attempted defence and ultimately, while not a clean hit, Flygon manages to break through causing Hakamo-o to skid back towards his trainer.
Ash grits his teeth and shouts "Hakamo-o hang in there and use close combat." Hakamo-o shakes off the hit and fires right back, sprinting towards Flygon with his limbs glowing bright white. "Defend yourself with dragon claw," Hapu exclaims. Flygon nods and extends his glowing green claws before flying towards Hakamo-o. The two attacks clash together as the two dragon types engage in a closely contested close quarters duel. As the two clash limbs Ans spots a gap in Flygon's defence and shouts "Don't let up and aim to left." Hakamo-o hears his trainers call and swings a fist further left catching Flygon right in the jaw forcing the larger dragon back.
Ash pumps his fist and shouts "Now use dragon claw again." Hakamo-o extends his claws once again and charges straight in for a big hit. "Use earthquake then fly up," Hapu calls out with a hint of desperation in her voice. Flygon quickly recovers from the previous hit and slams a fist against the ground causing shockwaves through the earth before flying back up into the sky. Hakamo-o already sprinting at full pelt runs straight into the earthquake, causing them to take the full force of the strong ground type move. Hakamo-on falls back to the ground and struggles to get up. Ash grits his teeth and shouts "Hakamo-o can you still battle?" Hakamo-o nods and drags himself back to his feet.
Hapu smirks and says "Y'all fought well but it's time to end this. Use earthquake again." Flygon flies back down towards the ground repeating the same process as he sends an earthquake towards his opponent. Ash grits his teeth, he knows that another earthquake might be too much for Hakamo-o but it's not exactly an easy attack to dodge for a Pokémon that can't fly. That's when it hits him. Who said they needed to fly when there are other ways to get airborne. Ash smirks and shouts Hakmo-o use dragon breath on the ground to propel yourself up."
Hakamo-o puts his faith in Ash and shoots out a purple beam of dragon energy towards his feet. The beam hits the floor and the force propels Hakamo-o into the air at the same level as Flygon. Hapu gaps and says with shock in her tone "What in Miltank's name was that?"
Ash smirks and calls out "Now use dragon claw." Hakamo-o extends his claws in the air and free falls towards Flygon. Hapu regains her composure and calls "Counter it Flygon, dragon claw of your own." Flygon nods and extends his claws while flying towards his opponent. Both Pokémon load up dragon claw and slash each other on either side of their face. Both Pokémon land on the ground with marks on their bodies while starting to pant heavily.
Ash pumps his fist and shouts "Use dragon claw one more time." Hakamo-o nods and charges forward with his claws barring. Hapu decides to keep this at a distance and counters "Use dragon pulse." Flygon roars and fires off a beam of dragon energy towards their opponent as Hakamo-o charges forward. "Dodge it," Ash yells as Hakamo-o side steps the incoming dragon type attack. He then rushes in with bright green claws and swipes Flygon a few times before turning his back as an explosion occurs. The crowd shivers with anticipation as the smoke begins to clear. Once it does Hakamo-o stands on one side of the battlefield looking battered but not beaten where as Flygon lays on the ground with swirls in their eyes. The referee examines the situation and announces "Flygon is unable to
battle, Hakamo-o is the winner." The crowd roars as Ash pumps his fist and shouts "Great work Hakamo-o. Hakamo-o smiles and nods to his trainer.
In the crowd, Lillie smiles and says "Hakamo-o sure it's determined." Kiawe nods and replies
"A Hakamo-o shouldn't really be able to beat a Flygon like that." Mallow smiles and replies
"Well sometimes a trainer can make all the difference and when Ash is on the field you can never count him out."
Back on the battlefield, Ash and Hakamo-o continue to celebrate as Hapu returns Flygon to its pokeball while thanking it for all its hard work. she looks up at Ash with a smile and says "That Hakamo-o certainly doesn't know when to quit does it." Ash smirks and says
"No, it doesn't know when to quit because it's simple. We never quit. Hapu smiles at the teenagers positive attitude and says "Y'all are great but this next one will be stronger." She takes a pokeball off her belt and throws it forward as she exclaims "Go Gastradon."
Gastradon appears from out it's pokeball and look at Ash with a neutral stare. Ash raises an eyebrow and states "A Gastradon huh, well in that case I'm sticking with Hakamo-o. The dragon type nods and gets into a battle ready position.
Ash makes the first move and calls outs "Use close combat." Hakamo-o kicks off at high speeds with his limbs glowing white. He slams his fists into Gastradon before hitting them with a straight kick that makes the ground type stagger back. Gastradon shakes of the damage and loooks completely unfazed thanks to their immense bulk. Hapu grins and says "Use body slam."
Gastradon nods before leaping surprisingly high into the air before letting their whole body fall towards Hakamo-o. Ash watches the falling Gastradon with gritted teeth and shouts "Defend yourself with dragon claw." Hakamo-o extends his glowing green claws and raises them in the air as the body slam approaches. The two attacks clash as Hakamo-o tries his best to hold back Gastradon but the full force of Gastradon's weight plus the fatigue is too much and Gastradon breaks through connecting with the body slam and pinning Hakamo-o to the ground.
Hakamo-o cries out in pain as Ash calls to his dragon type with desperation "Shake Gastradon off you." Hakamo-o struggles and tries to shake Gastradon off him, but no matter how hard he tries the ground type Pokémon sticks to him like glue. Ash let's out a frustrated sigh and says to himself "It must be sticky hold."
Hapu smirks watching the dragon type struggle and says calmly "Y'all can finish this with ice beam." Gastradon nods and opens its mouth as it prepares its icy beam. Ash turns his head away not wanting to watch the inevitable as Gastradon releases a point blank ice beam that smacks straight into Hakamo-o causing a small explosion. Once the explosion clears the crowd roars as Hakamo-o lays in a crater with swirls in his eyes. The referee raises his hand and says "Hakamo-o is unable to battle. Gastradon is the winner. Hapu celebrates as the crowd cheers.
In the pre mentioned crowd Mallow frowns and says "Gastradon is going to be big problem for Ash's team." Lillie tilts her head and asks
"What do you mean by that Mallow." Kiawe answers for her and says will not letting his eyes drift from the battlefield. "Ash has two Pokémon left weak to water attacks, Pikachu's electricity is useless against a ground type and Exeggutor plus Toucannon will struggle against ice beam. Just to add to that Exeggutor has no previous battling experience either." Lillie frowns and says "What can he even pick now."
Back down on the battlefield Ash returns Hakamo-o to his pokeball and holds to near his face. "Thanks Hakamo-o you were great, now leave the rest to us." Ash puts the pokeball back on his belt before taking another one off it, his decision already made up. He throws the pokeball forward and shouts "Lycanroc, I choose you."
Lycanroc lands on the battlefield and howls as the crowd roars open seeing Ash's rare Lycanroc. Hapu smirks and remarks "A bold choice Ash, using a rock type against my water ground type."Ash smirks and replies "Yeah it is but that doesn't mean it's the wrong choice. Plus I've never really been one to care for type advantages too much. Hapu smiles and says "Well I guess y'all will soon find out."
Ash smirks and says "We'll find out right now. Lycanroc start this off with accelrock." Lycanroc nods and springs straight into action as his body glows with a white aura before slamming towards Gastradon. "Body slam again Gastradon," Hapu orders. Ash smirks and says "Now Lycanroc, stop and use counter." Lycanroc hears his trainers call and stops on a dime as the white glow disappears while he awaits his target. Gastradon crashes towards Lycanroc with body slam as the rock type prepares himself. Right before the body slam is about to hit, Lycanroc flips Gastradon around and throws him straight to the ground.
Gastradon skids along the floor but ultimately avoids taking too much damage. "Now use stone edge," Ash yells with a small smirk as he starts to feel a bit of momentum. Lyacnroc slams his front legs into the ground sending a line of stones straight towards Gastradon. "Block it with earth power," Hapu counters. Gastradon nods and slams it's body into the ground causing a small earthquake. The two attacks clash together and cancel each other causing a small explosion.
Ash pumps his fist and shouts "Now use accelrock." Lycanroc nods and kicks off through the smoke while glowing with a faint white aura. Hapu watches with a small smirk as the rock type Pokémon approaches. She says while looking directly at Ash "Fly up with hydro pump Gastradon."
Ash gasps and mutters "She's copying me."Gastradon sees its trainers plan and exhales a strong beam of water onto the ground that launch its self up to the sky in a very similar way to what Hakamo-o did with dragon breath earlier on. Ash finds himself on the back foot as he tries to find a counter to his own technique but his mind is completely blank. Hapu smirks and says "Now use hydro pump on Lycanroc." Gastradon nods and fires off a strong beam of water towards Lycanroc from the air. Lycanroc watches with wide eyes as the super effective attack slams into him causing a small explosion.
Once the smoke clears both Pokémon come into come into view. Lycanroc finds himself in the same position as Hakamo-o as Gastradon lands on top of their prone body as they struggle to try and throw them off. Ash grits his teeth and thinks hard as he tries to come up with a solution. He will not and can not lose another Pokémon to the same technique. Ash says to himself "Think Ash , think........wait that's it!" He smirks and says out loud "Lycanroc, use stone edge on yourself."
"What the!" Hapu shouts as Lycanroc puts trust in his trainer slamming a paw against the ground that summons stones from the ground right underneath him. The Stone edge smacks into both Pokémon sending them high into the air Ash is first to react and shouts "Now use accelrock to launch it into the ground." Lycanroc glows with a white aura before slamming straight into Gastradon with full force the ground type to hit the floor with a thud as Lycanroc lands safely on his feet.
Ash pumps his fist and says "Let's wrap this up with stone edge." Lycanroc howls before slamming his front legs into the ground causing an array of stones to emerge from the ground and slam towards Gastradon. "Use Hydro pump,"Hapu shouts. Gastradon fires out a hydro pump I've over the top of the off the stone edge as a beam of power heads towards Lycanroc. Both attacks connect with their intended attacks and cause two separate explosions. The crowd watches on completely invested as they wait the result of the collision.When the smoke clears both Pokémon are laid out on separate sides of the battlefield with swirls in their eyes. The referee waits for a few seconds before he announces "Both Pokémon are unable to battle, it's a draw."
The crowd roars in appreciation for both trainees and their pokemon as they await the final matchup. In the crowd Lillie frowns and says "I really thought Lycanroc was going to win that one." Mallow shrugs and replies
"They did well considering the type disadvantage and the battle still isn't over yet." Kiawe nods and says "That's right and now Ash has one more one on one battle to end his island challenge. It's shaping up for quite the finale."
Back down on the battlefield, Ash takes a pokeball off his belt and says "Thanks for your effort Lycanroc return." He returns Lycanroc to his pokeball before placing it back on his belt. Hapu holds her pokeball out and says with a smile "Y'all we're great Gastradon now come back." She returns Gastradon to their pokeball and puts it back on her belt.
Ash smiles and says Hapu, your Gastradon was awesome, I thought for sure that accelrock would end the battle but you guys kept fighting." She smiles and replies "Yeah and your Lycanroc was great too. I thought that I had you trapped with body slam but I guess I was wrong, it's certainly an unpredictable battle Ash but we're down to the final match."
Ash pumps his fist and says with a confident "We sure are and I'm going to win." Hapu smirks and questions "Y'all sure about that." Ash grins and replies abruptly "Positive." Hapu smirks really enjoying the battle as well as Ash's positive attitude. She takes a pokeball off her belt and exclaims "Okay then try and beat this one." She throws the pokeball forward and shouts "Mudsde, y'all ready."
The pokeball hits the floor and a giant horse Pokémon emerges. Ash scratches his head and says quietly "What Pokémon is that." He scans it with his Pokédex and learns that it's a Mudsdale a pure ground type. He takes a pokeball off his belt and says "We'll I'm going to finish this with you." He throws the pokeball forward and shouts "Exeggutor I choose you!" Ash's newest capture emerges from its pokeball and looks around with a funny look on his face as the crowd gasp in shock at the sheer size of the pokemon.
Lillie tilts her head and says "Don't you think it's a bit of a risk picking Exeggutor. it's first battle at a stage as late as this late." Kiawe shrugs his shoulders and replies "Ash wouldn't have sent him in if he didn't believe in it."
Back down on the battlefield, Ash pumps his fist and says Exeggutor, I know we haven't been together long but let's show them just how strong we've become." Exeggutor playfully looks back at Ash and lowers his long neck to his
height before nodding yes. Hapu raises an eyebrow and asks "That Exeggutor is pretty tall and soft, you sure its a battler." Ash says smirks and says "yeah, Exeggutor may seem like a gentle giant but trust me it's strong when it wants to be." Hapu shrugs her shoulder and replies "Well, lets get this started then."
Ash extends his hand and shouts "Use dragon pulse." Exeggutor inhales before exhaling a powerful beam of dragon shape energy towards his opponent. "Dodge it, then use high horse power," Hapu calls out. Mudsdale nods and kicks off with surprisingly high speed for a Pokémon as bulky as them as they step to the side of the dragon pulse before slamming their rear hooves into the body of Exeggutor causing the dragon type Pokémon to stumble back a little.
Ash grits his teeth, not wanting to let Hapu take early control of the battle and shouts "Use leaf storm." Exeggutor swings his large head back before swinging it forward as a storm of leaves fly out from behind him heading towards his opponent. "Block it with rock slide," Hapu yells. Mudsdale slams his front legs against the floor creating a falling wall of rocks in front of him. The rocks act like a shield as the leaf storm clashes against them but fails to break through as the attacks clash against each other.
Ash pumps his fist and decides it's time to take this up close and personal as he shouts "Use dragon hammer." Exeggutor pulls a funny face before his whole head glows with a purple dragon aura before he swings his long neck towards his opponent. "Use high horse power," Hapu counters. Mudsdale turns himself around and kicks his hind legs towards Exeggutor. The two attacks clash together and force both Pokémon back. As they separate a small smirk appears on Hapu's face as Mudsdale glows with a green aura symbolising a stat boost.
Ash gasps and shouts "Wait What!" Hapu chuckles and says "Perhaps I should explain, Musdale's ability is called stamina. That means every time Mudsdale takes a physical attack they get a defence boost." Ash grits his teeth and says to himself "We'll have to try and keep this at a distance." He is quickly snapped out of his thoughts as Hapu calls out with a small smirk "It's time for Y'all low kick." Mudsdale kicks off with immense force and kicks Exeggutor in his leg with his front hooves causing the dragon type to collapse to the floor.
Ash shakes his head in frustration having lost focus and shouts "Exeggutor can you still battle. Exeggutor nods and gets back up to his feet while looking a little unsteady. He thinks to himself "There's no point in going on the aggressive with Exeggutor's lack of speed. I need to play this more on the defensive side. He smirks and says aloud "Exeggutor stand and wait." Exeggutor looks back at his trainer with a more serious look and nods in agreement.
Hapu tilts her head and remarks "I have no idea what Y'all are planning but we're going to stop it either way. Mudsdale use iron head." Mudsdale nods and rushes forward towards Exeggutor while lowering his head and coating it in pure steel. Ash smirks knowing he's got the perfect move to take control of this battle. He pumps his fist and shouts "Use psychic." Exeggutor grins a a silly grin as a pink and blue psychic aura surrounds him. Suddenly Mudsdale is stopped in his tracks as a blue aura surrounds him. Hapu gasps as Exeggutor slams Mudsdale into the ground twice before lifting him high up into the air.
Ash grins feeling completely in control again and shouts "Now throw Mudsdale up in to the air and then Use with leaf storm." Exeggutor grins as he throws Mudsdale high into the air causing the ground type Pokémon to cry in perill. Exeggutor then throws his head back before throwing it forward sending a strong stream off leaves towards his falling opponent. Mudsdale falls straight towards the leaves and finds himself completely trapped in the storm. Hapu gaps and shouts "Mudsdale no!" The storm intensifies before it explodes kicking up a large cloud of smoke.
The crowd waits with anticipation as they await the result of the explosion. They all break into a large cheer as the smoke clears to show Mudsdale still on their feet with marks all over their body while both Pokémon breath heavily. Ash's eyes widen as he says with some astonishment in his voice "Wow it's still not down." Hapu smirks and replies "You see y'all. We don't give up easy either."
Ash smirks and says with respect in his tone "I've got to say Hapu I'm impressed, but I think it's time we end this." He raises his Z ring into air and yells "Let's use our z power." Hapu raises her Z ring into the air and yells "Us too Y'all." Ash starts to move with Exeggutor as Z energy transfers from him to his pokemon causing Exeggutor to stands with a large glow. Ash shouts at the top of his voice "It's time for us to end this challenge! This is everything we've got Hapu! Use bloom doom!" Exeggutor takes in all the Z energy before turning into a forest of trees and leaves. He swings his head forward and sends all the greenery straight towards his opponent.
On the other side, Mudsdale is completely surrounded by Z energy as Hapu yells "It's been fun Y'all but it's time to end this. Use Tectonic Rage." Mudsdale takes in all the Z energy and neighs before stoning the ground with force causing a massive earthquake to head straight towards Exeggutor. Both attacks head straight towards their opponents and connect with their intended targets causing two separate huge explosions. The crowd shudders with anticipation as Hapu and Ash look at the battlefield with serious looks. The explosion clears and to everyones surprise both Pokémon are somehow still on their feet. Both Pokémon look worse for wear and stare at each other with intense looks as both will not fall. However after a few seconds one of their wills gives in as they stutter and hit the floor face first with a massive thud. Thankfully for Ash it was Mudsdale who lays on the ground with swirls in their eyes. The referee takes a few seconds to make the call before he shouts "Mudsdale is unable to battle Exeggutor is the winner. That means the match goes to Ash Ketchum from Pallet town!"
The crowd roars as Ash pumps his fist and yells "We did it Exeggutor." Exeggutor smiles back at his trainer with a funny grin before swinging his head down and lifting him high into the air. Ash laughs and hugs Exeggutor as the two begin to celebrate.
In the crowd Lillie smiles brightly and exclaims "Ash beat the island challenge!" Mallow smiles and says "I'm happy for Ash, he really deserves this." Kiawe claps his hands in respect and says "Ash is a special trainer, one I want to be able to stand up to one day."
Back down on the battlefield, Ash returns Exeggutor to get some rest as Hapu approaches. She smiles brightly at the teenage trainer and says "So you have completed the island challenge, congratulations. To commorate your achievement please take this, the groundium Z." Ash takes the Z crystal and says "Thanks for the battle it was sure my toughest yet." Hapu thanks Ash for a great battle and hands him a special plak given out to those who have beat the island challenge. Ash takes it and after thanking the island Kahuna says "Hapu, can I ask you a question."
She smiles and replies "Sure Ash, ask away." He scratches his head nervously and asks "How long will it take me to get back to Melemele island?" Hapu thinks for a second and says "The next ferry back is in two days time. It takes around 5 hours to get back." Ash mentally sighs and thinks to himself "Damm I won't be back to meet her at the airport. Oh well at least she won't have to wait to long and I can suprise her while she's at the school." He shakes off his internal conflict and says "Thanks Hapu." The shake hands as the crowd cheers at the show of sportsmanship. Both trainers leave from opposite sides of the arena as Ash takes in the applause. It's been a long road to get back to this stage. He's had to overcome his own personal demons but now he feels ready. Ready to finally become a champion.
After leaving the arena, Ash approaches his travelling companions and they contratulate him on completing his island challenge. Ash smiles at the three and says "Thanks guys but I couldn't have done it without your help." He then tilts his head and says "So we got two days left until we need to be back to the school, so you guys are free to explore." Kiawe nods and Says with a hint of confusion in his tone "That sounds like fun Ash, but what are you going to do."
Ash knew this question was going to be coming so he prepared his answer well beforehand. "I'll join you all later, I've got a meeting with Kukui so I'm going to check into the nearest pokemon centre to do it quietly." The group all seem satisfied by Ash's excuse as they wish him good luck with his meeting. Ash smiles and says "It's settled then, I'll see you all later."
After his friends depart, Ash runs to the pokemon centre at breakneck pace and checks into a room. He takes a deep sigh as he sits down on the bed and close his eyes. He focuses his aura and feels vision start to change. He takes another nervous breath and says to himself "I've won my challenge now it's your turn. I know you can do it Serena."

I found the island challenge a cool thing to rewrite as I found it was done kind of meh in the actual anime so it was an original thing to try my hand at.
Any I have three things I want to say before this chapter ends.

I say it every time but thank you to anyone who has ever given this story a chance. I know some elements of the earlier chapters aren't the most polished and this island challenge won't be the most popular because Ash and Serena are separate but trust me it all leads to bigger and better things.

Opinions on Ash's final episode.
I thought it was a mediocre ending at but clearly they left it open ended so Ash can return when ratings drop.
I mean that's all they did with journeys when ratings are low just chunk Greninja, Serena and Paul in random episodes.
Anyway the next chapter will be the grand festival.
I feel like not many people have tried their hands at the grand festival so hopefully it's a unique thing.
Also it will be the first chapter where Ash is not the main focus so it'll be a change of pace.
