The next day began. From what happened last night, it was an early and awkward morning. Eve woke up as Yamehl did, still in their clothes from yesterday and over the covers still holding each other. Explanation was not needed, or given. But they enjoyed the small interaction while it lasted before paying for the consequences.

Eve wanted to clear her head and go out. She snuck around downstairs to not wake the rest. Even opening and closing the door slowly as possible. Yamehl eventually went downstairs to do tasks. When Grey eventually wakes up, he slowly sits up, and scanned the still new room to him. He sees Yamehl, who was sitting by his small wood stove with a book and cup in hand.

Yamehl turns when he notices movement. He greets Grey, as he's silent watching him. "Good morning, Agent. Sleep well?"

Grey scratches his head and gets up, reaching into his bag for new clothes. "Yeah... Where's Eve?" He stretched his back and arms a bit, still tired from the trek. Sameer must had been tired as well, or a heavy sleeper, because he didn't budge.

Yamehl takes a sip and peers over his cup at the door. "She's out at the moment. I have a hunch that she's by the water. You should go down there as well. I assume you haven't bathed in a while, and would like to." He turns back to Grey with a polite smile.

Yamehl's 'hunch', regardless of accurate, brought up the question of bathing. Regardless of what Yamehl has an ability of, bathing seemed like something Grey wanted to do, but was also hesitant about. "It's public, right?" He asked, one brow raising and the other scowling down.

Yamehl nods. "Yes. Apologies, if you're not used to it. There's a steep slope down, so no one can see unless they walk close to the bushes. I also have a tub outside, but it's next to the people outside's tents, and you'd have to fill it up with a pale." He sets down this cup and closes his book.

Grey glances to the side at Yamehl as he tidies his hair a bit as it was crazy from bedhead. "I'll go. But... you said Eve was out there? You're not worried about her there alone?- Or, if I go down there?" He genuinely wanted to be polite, but he didn't assume he'd do anything wrong.

Yamehl chuckles, which Grey didn't expect as an answer. He SHOULD worry about those things, as a normal response. "Need not to worry, she has a spot. And, some people are comfortable bathing in public. The water there is sanctioned for bathing, washing clothes, or grabbing water. There's also bushes around the whole area. Just not too far, then the greenery starts to fade out." So, it was reassured.

Grey quickly gave a nod. He grabs his stuff and goes to leave. "Noted. Well, thanks. I'd love to clean all the dirt off my skin...."

Before Grey could go, Yamehl stops him. "Coffee before that?" He raised a cup slightly higher to his face, insinuating there was more for everybody.

Grey turns but looking past Eve's mentor. "I'm fine. Actually, more of a tea drinker." He tried to brush off the offer, thinking he doesn't deserve the magician's kindness regardless.

Yamehl thinks he understands, the bashfulness, and the preference. "I'll have something brewing when you get back, along with breakfast. Hope you don't mind something simple. I'm going to make something for everyone." He smiled, making sure there was at least something Grey would prefer.

Grey drops his head a bit and sighs, tired of differing. "Thank you. You really don't have to." He just takes the kind gesture, since it seemed inevitable.

Yamehl slowly walks backwards to his book and set it back. "Heh, just get cleaned up. It's the right thing to do, since I'm not sure you'd like something more than what you have to rationed for a week." He eyed over his spectacles, smirking in a short, deep chuckle.

Grey walks around the hut and past the tents over to an open spot. A few people were walking a path, and kids playing ball early in the morning. There was a long stretch of bushes that and few trees, and a small bit of water peaking down and slope, and the other side of land.

There were still a few people around, and that made Grey weirded out to go down to the water, especially if others were there bathing too. He decided to walk along the path till it became more of a housing area, and less people walking around. He suddenly saw the bushes next to him fading in the distance, which Yamehl mentioned. So Grey thought it was far and quiet enough to stop there.

Grey maneuvers through some bushes and goes down to the water. As he pushes past the last bit of brush, he sees the water, and some movement. Pale skin barely contrasts over pale blue water. White, long hair was the brightest out, even on the peripheral, and Grey knew he was in trouble.

Feet in front of Grey was Eve, to either one's announce. Her bare body wasn't even half way in the water by how shallow it had gotten there. There was no cover, besides her hair, but only reached halfway down her back. It didn't help completely. Her back was turned, till she heard movement. When she turns, both seemed to scan each other confused, suddenly realizing what was happening.

Eve held her arms to cover herself a bit, but it barely helped. Her skin was covered in the brightest white lines, making more to observe in full, from arms to waist. Grey needed to concentrate up on her face, but he didn't even want to see her expression then. Disapproving, or scared, he didn't want to see.

Eve couldn't help but have a shocked expression on her face. She couldn't really say anything to make it less awkward. She tries to speak, but was at a loss. There really was nothing to say to make it less awkward and confusing.  "Eh- ?!"

Grey finally holds a hand up, and sheepishly turns away. "Eve?!" He gasped, only slightly processing what was going on, but too late to unsee what he was processing.

Before Eve could ask what he was doing, Grey drops his fresh clothes on the ground and hides his face deeply in his hands. "I- I'm sorry!" He awkwardly shouted, face burning up in embarrassment.

Eve's cheeks also were a little flushed. Even though Grey wasn't looking, she just slowly sits down in the water, trying to cover. She kept her hair covering what was barely able to hide in the water. She looks away and shyly tries to speak up. "N- no. It's alright... What are you doing here?"

Grey just points to his clothes he dropped, still not moving his head an inch to peek around. "I- I was just going to wash myself, but I went a ways away, so I wouldn't have anyone around. I- I really didn't mean to stumble across you!" His voice actually sounded anxious and worried, to Eve's surprise. She never assumed he'd be the one to get embarrassed, especially since she's the only one that needed to be.

Eve twirls a small bit of her hair and looks down, making sure she wasn't uncovering herself. "It's fine. Heh, maybe a little awkward you startling me, but it's a public area after all...."

Eve put her hand back in the water. Each splash and sounds she made was only making it more difficult for Grey to concentrate, or not to run away. He could hear something, and tried his best not imagining what was behind him. Then he hears Eve's voice again. "Well... Are you going to get in? It feels weird being the only one not clothed right now. You don't have to worry about anyone else coming here to wash themselves. No one goes this far because the bushes end over a ways and the water's not as high here."

Grey was now in a predicament. If he bathes with his crush, he'd be taking advantage of the situation. But, if he declines, he's still guilty of being a pervert, and she might suspect something. Although shy, Eve wasn't exactly afraid of bathing publicly, even with someone she knows. That openness was dangerous for her. Grey didn't know what he should do, and if it was okay to just leave after seeing her in that state, or having her alone in that state with possible onlookers still.

Grey was contemplating for a while, and the silence started to kill Eve. She thinks quickly on how she might be making him uncomfortable, which she didn't want. She tries to cover and walk out. The sooner she's clothed, maybe the sooner they can talk normally. "Eh- but you can find somewhere else, if you're uncomfortable! S- sorry! I- I can get out if you keep you back turned, and-...?" Eve goes to reach for her bucket of dry supplies and head out of the water, but looks as Grey turns around, trying to the side, looking away as best he could, and unbuttoning his shirt.

Now Eve was the one who's cheeks were getting flushed. She instinctively turns around and covers again. She heard the sounds of water next to her start to shift and move. Eve's eyes went wide. In a second, she was about to glance over to where Grey might be, but she saw from her peripheral, and froze in place. He was yards apart from her, but also naked.

Grey keeps his back away from Eve, and starts to put comb water into his hair with his hands. "It's only fair, and like you said, it's public after all... Still wouldn't want anyone sneaking around anyways. You're a girl, and the researchers are new and might find a spot like I did...." He said some excuses that were still true concerns as calmly as he could facing away from Eve, but he was also secretly looking like a flustered mess.

Pointing things out only made it more awkward than for her protection. "Well, thanks, I guess...." She goes down into the water again and blows bubbles, still embarrassed of pressuring Grey. She didn't want him to have to defend her, and have to put up with being uncomfortable for her sake. Even if she didn't really know the real reasons.

It was so silent besides the water splashing and swishing. Both felt like it was echoing the awkwardness between them. They try to bathe normally, next to each other, respectfully looking away. Although, both were constantly being aware of the other.

Eve breaks the silence, trying to find some way of reassuring Grey. "This might be odd to bring up, but my mentor showed me this spot. So, I know that no one comes close to here. Except... you now."

Grey put his head in his hands, groaning. "I'm really sorry about this...." He felt so ashamed and didn't know what he was thinking. His mind did go blank when he saw Eve, but he should have tried to be rational. Not make such a scene and freak out, like he did. Now, he's going along with something he should've not.

Eve tilts her head over her shoulder but looks ahead. "Don't be, it's only natural." She reassured again, calling over to Grey.

Grey nods slowly agreeing, but he didn't actually understand. One question also started to form in his mind. "So... Did you bathe with your mentor?" His voice was gruff, almost sounding disapproving. He wasn't sure why he was asking, but just did.

Eve splashes the water, suddenly spinning around. As Grey turned as well from the sudden noise, she turned halfway back and sat down. She put her head close to her knees in the water, shouting abruptly. "Eh-?! It only because he was worried if someone DID try to spy on me bathing. After news spread around of me being a new face to the town, he wanted to make sure no one was going to use that to their advantage. I was new, and female like you said. I was a little worried myself, and we really just bathed with distance apart like us, now!"

It was a little different than being with her mentor. Sure, she was nervous at first, but given time going out together to bathe, she was even comfortable enough to play on the water and splash her mentor. Bodies were just natural, and everyone had one, of course.

Eve being embarrassed causes Grey to smirk. He chuckled a bit aloud, and vaguely from the side shook his head at Eve. "Relax. Sorry, but I couldn't help but rile you up, since bathing with your crush would be interesting." He ironically joked, having the sense of this place being a spot for just that.

For being a very innocent person, Eve fidgets, awkwardly, she remembers the bathing situation in the beginning. "I- I was nervous at first, but then I got used to it and became comfortable. And, since getting used to the town, it's not like we bathe together still!" She whined, sounding guilty but trying to prove herself. She did like her mentor, maybe not yet at that time she first met him, but that could still be taken wrongly now. She didn't mean to give in, like how Grey was now.

Grey seems lost in thought, but says a bit of what was on his mind, that he could tell Eve. "Must of been nice to trust someone enough. Your mentor does seem nice... But, maybe a little too gaga about you though." He muttered the last part. It seemed Eve didn't hear it well.

Eve slightly turned her head, just to tilt it and make a confused sound. "Hm?"

Grey shook his head and waved his hand so she could see him batting the thought away. "Nothing...."

That made it silent again, and left Grey to reminisce about his one-sided feelings. How he was ruining his and Eve's relationship, and possibly her and her mentor's.

Eve looks down awkwardly, and notes a bucket tied to a rock in the water. It was her bathing supplies in the bucket, along with some towels. "Um... Do you want soap? I'm done. You can take my bucket if you'd like. It has stuff to clean with."

Grey sighs, voice low and serious. "Eve... You really don't have to stay here if you're done and just chatting. You don't have to be so nice... People can take advantage of that." He was warning her, mainly about himself.

Eve wasn't too oblivious to Grey's discomfort, but not sure if was just because anyone would be in their situation. He was usually good at hiding his expressions, but now it was overwhelmed with too many complex emotions. "But, I'm also protecting you from anyone. Doesn't it feel better bathing in a new place with someone, versus being all alone?" She raised the question, trying to be polite after all. She also meant no ill intentions.

Grey's voice goes gruff and direct, acting more serious and stern. "It's no excuse to bathe with the opposite gender. That still can be taken advantage of, even if it's someone you know...." He dropped his head, really hoping Eve would just get the hint already.

But, she didn't. Just assuming Grey's being nice as he says. It wasn't lies, but not all the truth, and wasn't always like this. If only she knew, the agent that played a big part in her life turning upside down, had started to develop feelings for her. Not only that, but really start to fall for Eve, the moment he realized how much she's effected him as his work partner. "I know you well enough. I'm comfortable with you. Are you?" Eve asked, and for a moment, it had gone all quiet.

That question irked Grey to the core. He had defensive up, so he couldn't get too comfortable with Eve, or hopeful. He'd want to say that there were no worries, but that wasn't the case. He WAS worried about a lot of things, regarding Eve. Her life, her current love, her work relationship with him. "... I'm just not always comfortable with stuff, you should know that then... It's nothing involving you, but me." And, it was partly true, though it had much to do with Eve too, and his partake on her.

It had gotten quiet, but new ripples started to move closer to Grey. He looks down at the water, then sees a bucket floating to his side. He looks at it, then behind where Eve's legs in the water were. Eve spoke sheepishly, and low. "Here. I'm getting out. You don't have to worry, if you would prefer being alone. I really wouldn't want to make you uncomfortable either. But, I know that you're a nice guy. You wouldn't take advantage of me. You don't have to worry about me thinking that, that's what I mean." She was a little blind-sided in this situation, but she was being kind. She even kept one rag dry draped over the bucket so the water or sponge wouldn't dampen it.

Eve was too nice for her own good. She said and did things Grey wouldn't suspect she'd do, if she only knew the truth. Grey hated himself for making her feel ashamed for something she had no control of, and pushing her away. But, it was for the best he thought. "R- right...." He confirmed, as he should.

Grey looks down and grabs the bucket, holding a sponge close to his chest, almost like he was trying to crush it somehow. Eve leaves the water and grabs her dry clothes she left on land. She gets dressed and goes without looking or saying goodbye. She didn't want to pester Grey more than she had, and she pestered him a LOT already in their entirety of becoming partners.

This might be something that would change things for them. She didn't want it to have a bad effect. He was left alone, the silence became his prison, sentenced to think what he had done, what is wrong with him, and what he needed to do to distance himself from Eve now. In his own mind, the world outside kept going on as usual. Overall, leaving Grey awkwardly bathing in a strange environment alone.

As Grey quickly gets clean up and comes back, immediately, Yamehl gathers him and Eve. It seemed Eve told him what happened, but she actually didn't until Yamehl asked himself. She knew her mentor could see and feel things constantly, like her soul and emotions. He probably tracked Grey's, noticing he was going farther than he thought he'd go, and how both Eve and Grey reacted. It made it even more awkward, unintentionally.

So, Yamehl clasps his hand tightly together and bows his head on them. "I'm really sorry, Grey, Eve. I was the one who suggested he bathe, I just didn't know he'd go right where you were at."

Grey had no idea he knew. He just made a testimony to the whole event, regardless. "No, I should have left the second I saw her-. Th- the brush on the slope covered my view of the water. I truly just stumbled onto the spot when I saw the bushes clearing. Your mentor mentioned the bushes- I didn't know it was the spot you all go to." Grey couldn't handle this conversation about what happened. He needed to clear himself to everyone else though.

Eve waves her hands protesting in a small, nervous sweat. "Please, it's fine now. Moment aside, let's just eat, or something. We don't have to remember that moment, heh. Bygones, heh...." She blushed and tried to brush past it with a smile. She just wanted them to move on, maybe eat food so the thought leaves everyone. Because, now it's a mess everyone's effected by, besides the researchers. Even Sameer is now scowling questionably at Grey, after overhearing it all.

They did try to leave it. At the time Grey and Eve were out, Yamehl went to get bread for everyone that morning to eat. Yamehl had cooked some porridge with berries, and had bread for the side. People gather when he says it's ready. Researchers line up to get a bowl, bread, and sit down somewhere inside or right outside the door. It was a beautiful day, the windows shutters and door were open. It was calming for most, but 'some' were still dealing with a surprising morning.

Grey sits and Eve takes a seat next to him, and Sameer sits on Eve's other side. Sam was still not very happy with Grey, as he stares daggers up at him. Eve casually starts to eat. There was an awkward silence between them, even if others where chatting and acting normally.

Grey can't help but avert his gaze away from her. He stabs a spoon into the bottom of his bowl, and huffs annoyed at something. "I have to ask but... what's with your tattoos?" He then covers his face, immediately regretting asking.

Eve jolts, looks down at her arm. She had rolled her sleeves up and some of her white-lined details across her skin was visible. "These?- eh?!" She just then realized she meant more than on her arms. That made her incredibly embarrassed.

Eve's voice got higher, and accidentally a little too loud to be discreet. "D- did you see them?!" She jolts standing up from her seat and eyes wide at her partner. Her spoon clanks into her bowl's edge. Grey accidentally chokes inhaling from the sudden shouting.

Grey clears his throat and hides his face with his hands. He shakes his head wildly, not undeniable but tries to make it sound not as bad as it was. "I- I only noticed the ones on your arm before. I'm sorry, I just couldn't help but notice them earlier too. I just never pegged you for having a bunch of tattoos, being a child entertainer." He rambled, which was to move on, but it didn't work.

Eve holds one arm and examines it while explaining, a little shy and meekly. "I- it's actually for magic. Back when I was still trying to control my powers, 'Mehl put a charm on so it would stabilize my abilities. I asked him to do it. It was super simple."

Grey's eyes narrow to a skeptical focus. "He...." Grey draws out and stares at Eve, almost like he was trying to have her read his mind, versus the other way around.

Eve waves her arms spastically, not wanting Grey to get anymore wrong ideas. "I- it's just a spell that puts a magic seal around the body, by the way. I was clothed, I swear! It's just all over my arms and torso... The more control, the bigger the charm." And, Eve needed the aid. It helped the start of learning abilities and magic. It also helped if too much emotion started to effect her powers.

Grey chimes in a gruff and weirded tone, trying to move on from his question, and thoughts. "'Kay... Interesting." With that aside, he eats, and quickly reaches for a tea, taking a long sip with eyes awkwardly looking away.

They continue eating, which gave an excuse for becoming so silent. This was already an eventful morning, and no magic was even performed yet. It was not intended at all by anyone. Luckily the researchers weren't effected by any of this, but the agents were caught up with their own dilemmas.

___________________________________________________

After everyone finishes eating, the group follows Yamehl out of the city, a ways out in the desert. It was mostly bare leaving the town, if it wasn't for the water coming from an unknown source. Where they were heading, was the end of the stream, and a small pond was there. It was odd, the water in a small, rocky pond seemed to be overflowing into the stream, bubbling from under the water.

They stop right at the pond, watching it push water out. Yamehl gestures to it. "So, the stream leads through the town, and brushes around till it goes back to one main way. It leaves the town and disappears under the sand. Spreading into random paths in the desert. On the opposite side of the town, the water comes here, at a cave entrance."

One of the S.O.U. researchers gawks aloud in shock. "What?" The researchers didn't expect it, but there was a giant cavern under them, very far down and stretching wide into the vast space.

To give an explanation, Yamehl extents his knowledge on the area. "This area is considered dangerous, so don't fall into the water. Water ends here from an underwater cave that's miles long from a river in the northeast. Part of the river seems to end, flow underground, then appear only in this area, then go underground again. The earth can be a fascinating thing."

One researcher looks down at the water, seeing pressure and miraculous ecological results. "That's... the reason? We can never find anything around here, and thought it was deserted!"

Yamehl chuckles, unsurprised by the reactions. It's an interesting occurrence that no one can see. Just like how magic works. "The town is protected by magic. It defends from anything that might be a threat to the town. Nothing can go in without a good purpose. Consider yourselves one of the lucky few."

Eve jumps in, cheerfully reminding everyone. "And! Not to exploit this place, or any others! Learning is one thing, and we'll learn a lot of useful tools! Nothing should be taken here, but knowledge, which is the best resource of all~!" She giggles innocently. She wouldn't be acting so nice, if she actually was worried about exposing this secret. Her eerily sweet threat definitely scared a few researchers, but that'll make sure they don't cross Eve.

Yamehl walks over to Eve, and they look at each other, giving curious grins and side eyes. Yamehl speaks first. "It seems that we should show them what they might be able to accomplish. Eve, would you like to demonstrate with me?" He held a hand out for her to take.

Eve puts a hand in Yamehls, and her eyes begin to glow blue. "Of course!" She cheered, letting go and holding her hands together now. They both held their hands, fingers touching together, and palms open. Like one, their eyes and hands start to glow in unison.

The sand around Yamehl moves into a swirling pattern, then around Eve. Both were moving the sand separately, one going clockwise, the other counterclockwise, till swirling mounds of sand lift from the ground, and slowly start to float and perpetually fall back to the ground. It didn't lessen but looked like sand was falling from something invisible.

The only explanation for it was Yamehl and Eve's hands moving in a flowing wave with the sand. He watches the group curiously, and explains. "Earth is still powerful for how weak it's become, but there are other things we can take than just earth."

Yamehl looks at Eve, and the sand slowly falls back to the ground. He keeps his eyes on her, and raises a hand. Then, glimmers formed in his palms, till more collected into a small galaxy. They were joined in their powers, able to perform more than just their own.

Yamehl, fondly, talks about Eve's power now. It was one of his favorites, for that reason, and how infinitely unknown her star power was. "Space has the magical ability to collect energy and resources, from anywhere. We can take and give power from it, but this is something one can already be gifted in." He waves a hand to Eve, if any of the researchers didn't see her use her powers before.

They stop, and Yamehl explains more. "You can make a droplet into thousands, dead grass into a thriving field. Magic can save, but it can also destroy. There's a fine line to what people might do with it."

Knowing the complexity of magic, Yamehl knows abilities and spells can make wonders. "How to achieve this is by strengthening your ability, and mind. Some things can be as simple as thinking about something, and we'll start there." Yamehl bows his head in understanding. With his expertise, and teaching Eve before, they could start with a little bit of teaching, then see where things go.

Yamehl claps his hands together. "Let's go back and practice. There's plenty of space behind the shop to test everyone's abilities." And with that, he turns to lead everyone to the city again.

They go back behind the hut. The first thing to really start practicing with was everyone's own abilities. Researchers file in line, and start by showing off their abilities. Then, it was tested again, seeing how quickly they could start and stop it. Then, how intensely their ability could go. Everyone had very unique abilities and handle to them. Many were experienced in using them for fighting before, not in anything nonviolent unless it was off duty but hidden from the public.

Everyone was able to do the first steps, since they've trained at the agency. Then, everyone had to crowd into the hut, sitting on the floor. Yamehl was standing behind the counter of his shop. He grabs a wooden bowl and fills it with clean water from a pitcher.

Yamehl places the bowl on the counter, then looks back at everyone. "Let's do a lesson with ice, just the thing for this weather, yes? Heh. Let's have one person go at a time. We will put one hand hovering over a bowl of water, and it will act as a bridge with my power. Magicians can control the things around them, and let others of our kind experience it was well. In time, one should be able to do this without help. It is all mastering the elements and spells." He could see the researchers' beads of sweat, and find it as a amusing way to motivate them.

Some researchers went into a short line, so it wasn't everyone waiting and not able to watch. Yamehl puts a hand partly in the bowl, and instructs the first researcher what they were going to try. "Just barely place your hand inside, palms and fingers out. Try to think of ice cold water... What happens if someone puts more ice in it? Is your hand tingling? It must be getting fringed, even painful. Try to imagine that sensation."

It was silent, nothing seemed to happen. The researcher that was trying it looks up at the magician confused, not sure what they're doing, or if anything was supposed to happen. Yamehl gives it a bit more time of silence before he politely encourages them. "Let's try focusing again, or would you like someone else to give it a shot, and come back to you?"

They try again. This time, after a minute, the sounds of some crackling caught everyone's attention. People looked in wonder into the bowl that was starting to freeze over near the researcher's fingertips. Even the researcher was surprised. Yamehl chuckles briefly, glad they didn't lose hope and pushed through it. "... Good. Well done."

Everyone goes and does the same lesson, till even one was able to make the water freeze. It took a couple tries for most, some almost giving up before they accomplished the spell. But, everyone did it in time, and luckily in one day. Maybe a few hours, but not bad.

The last research finishes up, having been defeated before, doing the spell for the nth time. When they finally did, they even cheered that it was over. "... Bit more practice, and we did it. Good job." Yamehl still congratulated them on working hard. He had never gotten tired or impatient with any of them, even if some researchers might have.

Yamehl concludes the first lesson. He holds his hand behind his back, and steps in front of this counter space. "This showed good progress. We can try to go a little further and see who can do this without help."

Eve and Grey watch from the side, standing by the wall. She didn't need to practice these, and he just wanted to chill, and didn't care to learn more odd spells since last time. He didn't want anything to go wrong again. He turns, talking to Eve calmly as he leans on the wall. "Your mentor's a good teacher."

Eve looks up briefly at Grey, nodding and smiling boastfully. "He sure is! He's very understanding and patient. He's so cool~!" She might've made it sound obvious, but she was the first, and the only for a while that Yamehl taught. He was just a scholar, sharing what he knows to someone like him.

The next lesson started as soon at Yamehl had time to grab material for something new. He passes around to every researcher a gem that was a translucent white that reflected the whole septum depending on where the light hit it. He goes back to the front and holds his hands together and looks down.

Yamehl's eyes slowly start to shut, as he hums. "Everyone has the gem in their fists. Now, close your eyes." He instructed, but he had no materials, and was just doing the spell without.

Yamehl starts to slowly walk around the room, eyes still closed but maneuvering around people who also couldn't see. His steps make an echo to its light thudding as effect. "Imagine that you're walking and it's pitch black. You cannot see where you're going. You need a light. Visualize a light in the distance. Is it warm? It's it blinding in the dark? Are you able to see around with it, and what? If you can see it, open your eyes, and let's find out."

When the researchers open their eyes, they look around amazed at the sights of colorful floating specs of light around them, or next to them. It was the same color their eyes glowed, just more of it floating around them. It was a spell not required by ones ability, but something anyone of their kind could try with the aid of the gems handed to them.

Yamehl interjects in their amazement to explain as brighter golden orbs surround him as well. "This is a light spell, an easy mental one. One can always light the way without flames." With practice they might be able to do the spell without.

Yamehl looks over to Eve for a moment, then looks back with a compassionate and warm smile at everyone. "It's alright for some to not get this on the first try. This is still very new, and good work everyone for practicing."

People naturally stopped concentrating and the lights disappeared one after the other slowly. They never expected to do that, ever. It may take a lot of concentration, but they could even try it again. More practice in thought and clarity of the mind, the more likely.

Eve trots up and energetically raises a fist up in a cheer. "Let's see. We got through a lot of info, and really great progress in spells! Today was a good day. The next few days we'll be set, with new records for the agency about abilities and magic."

Eve helps gather materials back for Yamehl. He takes them and kindly thanks her. He asks her to acquire a few specific ingredients for the next easy spell to learn.

During the small intermission, a researcher asks a question to Yamehl, and he gazes over to Eve curiously. "... Agent Maestro? Oh! You mean Eve?" He asked aloud.

Eve turns after hearing her mentor say her name. "Yes?" She rang out to them. Slowly, she walked over to them.

Researcher and Yamehl turn to Eve, her mentor gesturing to the researcher. "A comrade of yours is asking about how you found me."

Eve beams, explaining a shorter version than what she's told Grey long before. "Oh! Shear luck! Just something told me mentally to go here... I thought I was crazy, but maybe it was luck, or something having to happen, like fate." Feeling and inklings were key to some magic, and it was a theory that could simply explain it.

The one researcher rephrases carefully, skeptically emphasizing the point. "So, S.O.U. only knows what you know, and this would have never been brought up to us, if you never randomly came here?"

Eve energetically cheers. "Yup!"

The researcher almost sounded defeated by that fact. Rather confused by how human civilization could be still unknown. But then again, there were groups that didn't want to be recovered, and recorders respected that. They might be missing important data. "Oh... 'kay... No more questions...."

Yamehl started to walk over to Eve. "It's interesting. Even I had an inkling we needed to meet when I first saw her. She was entertaining crowds, just freshly traveling into town, already being a wonder. I knew I had to talk to her, for something important. Maybe this is it." It might've been the way he was looking at her, or the way he phrased it, but he seemed enamored by her, that being true no matter what else might've. The researcher almost couldn't take him seriously.

Yamehl looks back to the group, calmly able to switch back to being the instructor. "Some things we can't explain in magic but do, or try to feel an understanding. Magic is a mental and physical ability. In a scholarly description, it is the irrational probability in space that modern science can't understand. Magic beings a bit of the unknown." He simplified.

Eve adds in a shrug, being the prime example of being able to learn. "The more open, the easier it really is to grasp, heh."

Yamehl waves a hand and the room slowly goes silent again. Now that showing off their potential was a good start, it was once basic knowledge of their kinds. And, the history still remains a mystery to the researchers there. "For some, our kind have become unaware of these techniques. We are one of two humans. There's one's with no power, and one's able to become magicians. Even if one didn't go the lengths Eve and I did, they're still considered as such."

Yamehl goes to his shop's counter, putting both hands on them and somberly looking down explaining. "There were magicians all over, but some places didn't call them such, or be so accepting. That's why we're here, wherever on this earth, and in my shop."

One of the researchers raised a hand briefly and asks. "So, what happened, from what you could tell?"

There was a lot that had happened, and a lot to say. In short, Yamehl gave a simplified explanation. "People were killed, civilizations and cultures destroyed. It didn't start all at once, but it nearly whipped us all out once... 'Witch hunts', we're what almost did it."

Another researcher seemed to speak aloud. "Geez, is that true? We only thought those were just dark history and wise-tales about witches." The group would practically all agree, since none believed in magic, and what the magicians in historical books were. But Eve, Yamehl, and now somewhat Grey and the director knew of the possibility already.

Yamehl nods, sadly. He didn't want it to be true, but their kinds once lived different lives, good and bad. And it was bad, during the witch trails. "Anyplace would cover the bad things they've done. Killing their kind is bad, but a different set of humans, maybe worse. Lots of places do that, and 'did' just that. It washed into denying the whole thing in history in most places. But before that, all magic was suddenly restricted, unless under a king's court."

Grey scoffs, not intending to everyone's attention as he speaks his mind aloud. "We're part of all the governments... sigh. There should be able to still look into this. We may had told a different history, but we have the proof elsewhere. Here." He points down and around, as there were standing in the place full of the information they've been looking for.

As Yamehl said before, they just didn't have all the information they needed at first. Now, they had some new information, and possibly a new hope. Now was not the time to bum around about history, but maybe fix what might happen again.

After all, the proof started coming to light when Eve was discovered. More and more, secrets were unraveling. With everyone's help, it could resolve some old mysteries to what their kind was, and are. Slowly, they'll maybe start to see themselves as magicians as well. It wouldn't be for a while, and the S.O.U. will remain the same agency. But, more development could be done for their kind.
_______________________________________________________

The day-long lesson ended. As a reward for everyone's hard-work, Yamehl decides he'll give the researchers another meal from the town. This one he'll make for them himself. Everyone else goes to share thoughts on the lesson, and wait for food. Grey looks around for his partner. He sees Eve talking to her mentor. "Should we cook outside?" Yamehl asks Eve, turning to her with a book between them sharing.

Eve looks from the book, up to Yamehl. "Let's do that!" She said, giving a warm smile up at him. It would be quite the treat to have some more food, fresh and flavorful, than what was in their packs. Eve also loves a homecooked meal over anything, especially from her mentor. So, it was a treat for her too, still.

Grey huffs, and walks over, waving a hand tiredly to greet them. "Done for the day?" He asked, mostly to Eve.

Eve spins around and smiles. "For now. We'll still be answering questions, but let's focus a little off of it." Now was the time for a break. Everyone can relax and digest on the new concepts, while digesting food. Yamehl goes to his small kitchen area, get some food ingredients, and go to a stack on dry logs inside, and head outside.

Eve, of course, wanted to help her mentor, but he insisted on doing everything himself. It was the nice thing to do, and would hopefully make her unwind. Even if Eve's not teaching the researchers, she's doing a get deal with this whole agency, and especially Eve's unit. Both magicians were extending a pretty big favor for the S.O.U the have the opportunity to try.

They make a fire outside around the researchers' tents. Yamehl sets wood slabs under a cauldron, and lights it with a single snap that sparks like a piece of flint hitting steel. Then, he added whatever he had lots of to spare, with fresh herbs to flavor a stew together. He was insightful to get a chickens to roast on a spitfire. Enough to hopefully not need seconds.

Once it's all prepared, Eve tastes a bite, and holds a cheek in amazement. She cheered, as she was temped to take a second bite while speaking. "Eating out here's a good idea! Such yummy food~! Yamehl's the better cook!" She even snags a piece of meat for Sameer to try. It was the first thing he'd eaten, not prepared by Eve.

Grey merely makes glances, and tries to act coolly. "You shouldn't knock down your cooking ability. You're a good cook...."

Eve, surprised, looks over and smiles at Grey. "Thanks, Grey! I really am glad you think so." Upon her appreciation, he bashfully looks away, as coolly as he could.

Yamehl gave a warm smile and hums. "So, how has your partnership been since last you've mentioned?" He looks between them. Both partners intentionally looked away from each other bashfully for a moment.

Grey turns back, propping an arm and staring blankly at Eve. "You've- ? Of course you talked to your mentor about us before...." He scoffed, shaking his head.

Eve scratches her cheek and gives an awkward chuckle. "I might have, heh... I think the last thing I said was that the agency is iffy, but better than I thought. And that you were keeping me from fighting anyone I shouldn't be, heh." She might've not mentioned later on about messaging her mentor for help in case something happened to her. That was prior to getting adjusted to the unit more.

In response, Grey gives the most bored and monotoned chuckle. At least it was anger, or calling Eve out for breaking the secrecy. "Well... still seems accurate, now doesn't it? You definitely do need someone to watch over you." He stabs his spoon lightly and repeatedly into his bowl.

Eve leans over to nudge Grey's shoulder with her own. "And, you're still cold, but really warmed up.", As Eve would put their development. He always was a little cold and distant, but it seemed less unreadable and authoritative.

Grey murmurs, looking away aloofly. "Not to everyone, just exceptions...." Which was true. Not like trust was something he needed after a while, besides the director's, and the agency's. Not until Eve showed up. It could have been because they were work partners, but they did more that would consider them to be friends.

There was a lot more than what they could really express. Their change in opinions of one another, their full development of their relationship, or how strong their dynamic their partnership was. But, Yamehl can understand from how they feel around one another.

Yamehl finds the two opposites amusing, but at least they were getting along. "How nice. You seem like a good pair. Really cover lots of ground, being critical, or understanding." He shifts his eye between them, smiling.

Eve jumps a bit in her sitting position, cheering. "That's actually perfectly well said, hehe." She smiled happily and innocently.

Yamehl keeps looking at Grey. Grey glares at him oddly, but Yamehl then gives a calm smirk and closes his eyes. Whether it was a kind gleam, or a stern scowl, both seemed to stare at each other often. Usually initiated by Yamehl, though Grey had been defensively been keeping guard of Eve's mentor on the first day. He didn't know if Yamehl could be truly trusted, if he knew Eve loved him so much.

They all eventually finished up with their meals, bellies full, and sitting around comfortably. It had gone late, and a fire was burning just to keep a bit of warmth. The hot air was becoming comfortable, and the area was calming down. Most people were at home or in taverns around the area. Some people still walk the stretches of the paths behind the shops and huts.

One full day of learning done, and it was successful in showing simple techniques of magic. The day didn't go without some hiccups, however. Not involving magic, but still effecting the tension in the air. There was all sorts of questions laying in everyone's mind. At least food made for a good distraction, but not fully for everyone.

Researchers go to either tents, Yamehl, the agents, and Sameer came inside to rest. Another early day was set, for the next few days. Yamehl goes up to his room and the rest stay down in the living-courters, part shop area. Grey eyes Eve, looking at her curiously. She was unfolding her sleeping bag casually. "Are you sleeping down here tonight?" He broke the calm silence.

Eve whips her head to Grey. She didn't know he noticed her never come down the night before. She left the morning before he woke, and expected he fell asleep quickly to notice if she sleep downstairs or not. "I- I didn't mean to f- fall asleep upstairs last time...." She tried to deny.

Grey looks away, not sure what it was thinking. "Oh, heh. I'm surprised. I'm sure you could just ask-." The creaking of the floorboards startled everyone suddenly.

Yamehl walks back into the living area, with two folded blankets, and few pillows in hand. "Sorry. Am I interrupting something?" He asked politely.

Eve answers quickly, shaking her head. "No, just chatting." She was able to divert the situation.

Yamehl's smile had paused but then widened again. "Well, I wanted to wish you all a goodnight. I've gotten more pillows and blankets in case." He handed Eve the extras for sleeping.

Eve looks up and takes everything out of Yamehl's hands. She beams up at him, softly and kindly. "Thank you very much. Have a goodnight, 'Mehl. See you in the morning." She rang out harmoniously, truly wishing him well.

Yamehl goes to leave, and turns back. "Rest well." He waits a moment for anything else, then goes up to his room, taking a light with him.

Grey watches Eve and her mentor. He turns back and lowers his voice to Eve. "You're never going to tell him how you feel? You've waited long enough already."

There was too much fear and complications that plagued Eve's decision. Although she was unsure herself, she settled with her own excuses to move forward. "I'm... just not prepared, or if I'll ever be. I don't want him to have to worry about feelings. I know... it can't work out. Not now... So, I was waiting, till then."

Grey practically scoffed lightly. "Till what? Out of the agency? Do you know how long that'll even take? You've waited longer than you've been working with us." It was a job, and that usually meant retiring from the job. Eve's plan was very far from completion.

Eve looks down, but gives herself a nervous chuckle. "It's silly... I know. But, I'm fine with it. I shouldn't ask for more, if he even does like me back."

Eve's lips tighten and eyes lower. "Goodnight, Grey. I'm sure talking about my personal life isn't what we should discuss before bed. It's been a long day...." She turns over and lays down, ending the conversation. She stares tiredly at her furry friend, petting them. This wasn't what she wanted to think about often. It only made it worse that there really was no option anymore to try to be closer instead.

With that, Grey also lays down and covers himself up. "Sorry I brought it up. G'night." He turned and grimaced quietly to himself on how he screwed up the day for them. It didn't affect the teaching, maybe a little, but it didn't help when they talked casually, for him. Eve was still effected by it as well, and also had silly regrets.

First the river incident, then talking about her complicated crush, when she's wanting to do anything to be with them. All this was, was them not acting out how they really felt. There were walls that bounded everyone from a distance, not just Grey, but everyone.

Not everything had to do with personal dilemmas, neither magic. However, emotions can influence powers and abilities. That wasn't going to be tested, but might cause some obstacles, later down the road. If only it was easy to say what was on their minds. What would happen if someone finally gathered the courage? How will it effect things down the road?
