Chapter 25,
This Was a Game Changer
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
" What a shame, I was just starting to like Adam, he seemed sweet. Oh well, he's Warriors property now. "
Coach Orion had taken a long time to post the positions of the JV team, and needless to say everyone wasn't proud of what they got. Except for Ken and Dwyane, they don't really care as long as they got to play with their friends, and play hockey of course. However, it didn't seem fair to Charlie that they had to switch the way they played for Coach's liking.
Seeing Charlie angry means you need to stay the fuck away from him, he blows up as if he's a dynamite stick. Amara wasn't planning on going anywhere near him anyways, she learned her lesson from last time.
"I just think it's completely fucked!" Charlie slammed his hands against the table during lunch, making everyone jump a little.
Amara looked at the angry boy and sighed, according to Connie, he was never like this until their old coach told him, he wasn't going to be coaching them this year. It threw Charlie off his game and he felt like he was stabbed in his back. It didn't look like it now, but Amara knew how the boy felt.
Charlie had obviously used his old coach, Gordon Bombay, to fill a hole his father had left, and that's what made him this way. He couldn't handle the departure of Bombay, and he would explode.
It wouldn't take long for the boy to find another father figure to refill the hole that Bombay had left in him, Charlie was going to find someone.
"Why is banks sitting with the Varsity team, I thought he was going to sit with us?" Amara asked as she looked at the Varsity's table and spotted the unhappy boy.
"He was a better player than all of us, so coach put him with the Varsity team. He's a fucking backstabber." Charlie seethed as he glared at his now ex best friend.
Amara didn't understand how someone who knew their best friend since elementary, drop them like a bad habit because of something so stupid.
"That's so fucking stupid Charlie, dropping your best friend because he's simply better at hockey than you?! Grow the fuck up!"
Except, Amara didn't say that as much as she wanted to say that. She looked at the irritated kid and nodded her head, but she didn't understand. Amara didn't think she would ever understand that logic.
" What a shame, I was just starting to like Adam, he seemed sweet. Oh well, he's Warriors property now. "
It felt shameful, allowing those words to leave Amara's words were like telling Adam she didn't want to ever be his friend anymore. Amara just didn't want to spark an argument with Charlie, knowing that everyone would get on her ass about it, even if she was right.
Despite not even knowing Adam that long like everyone else did, Amara didn't like how they turned their back on him. This was a game changer that nobody ever expected, not even Adam himself.
But Amara had a small plan, she was going to talk to Adam and make sure he still had a friend that didn't hate him. Then she was going to snap some sense into Charlie, so that he can stop snapping at everyone who didn't do anything.
Finally, she was going to talk to the JV team as whole, Coach Orion included.
  This plan was well thought out but that didn't matter at the moment, what matters is that a friendship doesn't end over a stupid sport.
