— Chapter 40 —

Everything has been so good.

Hyunjin makes two cups of coffee, smiling like a geek to himself. Everything has been so good. Him and Felix are back to normal, and Nabi is at her uncles— giving Hyunjin a break for himself.

It's not like the little girl is so hard to deal with, it's just that Hyunjin never really has time for himself. So now that he does, he can do certain things he has wanted too for a while. And plus, it makes Hyunjin feel better to know she's at her uncles house— with guards and gates. It's honestly way better than here, with a bunch of angry stressed man in a hide-a-way home.

He finishes stirring the liquid, after adding many sweeteners to Felix's cup, and heads to the living room. Felix is sitting on the couch in pajamas, zoning out.

Hyunjin clears his throat as he enters the room, making Felix look at him instead of the floor. "What are you thinking about?" He chuckles.

Felix shakes his head. "Nothing special."

"Nothing special?" Hyunjin repeats as a question, handing Felix the coffee before he sits down comfortably on the couch by Felix. "That's hard to believe."

Felix chuckles. "I guess."

Hyunjin smiles. "Well," he starts. "What should we do in our paradise today?" He says sarcastically.

"Well I still have work to do." Felix says. "So it's not so much 'paradise' for me." He takes a sip of the liquid, surprised since it isn't so bitter.

"Does that mean you have to go?"

"I probably should." Felix says, getting up. He looks behind him as Hyunjin, offering a little smile Bertie he walks away. "I'll come find you when I'm done."
He says as he is waking away.

Hyunjin raises a brow at the sudden exit, but just shakes his head.

However, the truth is that Felix feels guilty. Guiltier than he has ever felt. Ever since yesterday, he can't get the angering thought that there is even a slight chance Hyunjin could be a part of the murders. Even after they screamed, kissed, cried, and made love.. he still doesn't trust the older man fully.

What a dick.

He walks into the office area, closing the door behind him. He walks around the corner, heading towards the desk, but there is already somebody sitting there. He jumps as he sees Chan, not expecting the older.

"Oh my—" he says.

"Oh–" Chan says as Felix jumps.

Felix stays still, just looking at Chan. He hasn't seen the guy since his outburst at dinner, and he doesn't know what to say. He isn't mad, he knows Chan has issues with his tempter, but it still doesn't excuse his words.

Chan looks back at him, before starting to slowly close his computer. "Would you like me too.." he motions to the door, asking if Felix would like him to leave without actually asking. It's kind of painful to see how their healthy relationship has shredded to prices.

"Oh no," Felix shakes his head, feeling even guiltier now. "You can stay, I should go instead." He says with a weak smile, before he turns to the door as he makes his way out.

"You don't have to–" Chan blurts, causing Felix to look back at him. Chan offers him his most genuine smile. "You can stay, if you want too."

Felix nods his head, walking back into the room. He takes a seat on the sofa by the shelf, pulling out his phone. He screws around, checking messages and stuff, before he lets out a sigh and puts his phone back in his pocket. He kinda just sits there, zoning out as his thoughts engulf him.

"What's on your mind?" Chan asks, still typing on his laptop.

Felix snaps out of it, looking over to him. "Oh uh.." he starts. "I don't know." He shakes his head, feeling awkward.

"Oh." Chan says simply, getting the hint that Felix doesn't want to speak.

Felix chews on the inside of his mouth, not liking the awkward tension in the room at all. He takes a deep breath. "Um—" he starts. "I kinda need.. help with something. Can you—?"

"Yeah." Chan says, closing his laptop— giving Felix his full attention. He looks over to the male. "What do you need?"

"Don't like.. say anything if I tell you." Felix says. "Please."

"I wont, just tell me."

"Okay." He says shakily. "I kinda don't like.. I don't know how to say this without being a dick, but if I don't trust somebody.. what do I do?" He asks, looking to Chan for a reaction.

"Well.. I think I know who the somebody is already." Chan says. "But you need to elaborate a bit more. Why don't you trust him? What kind of trust are you lacking? Is it like.. unfaithful or—"

"Oh no, no, no." Felix shakes off. "I don't think he's cheating or anything.. it's just.." he trails off.

"Is it about the.. murderer thing?" Chan asks cautiously.

Felix looks over to him, nodding his head slowly. He hates to admit it yet he just can't get the thought out of his mind. He knows if Hyunjin fount out, it would fuck everything up— but he just can't seem to brush it off.

"If you'd like," Chan starts, standing up. "I can do some kind of background check? I'm heading to the station right now anyway, and maybe if he came back clean it might help you brush this off. Would you like that?"

Felix looks at him with an unsure expression. He doesn't not trust him enough to do something so major, but something is telling him he should. He lets out a sigh. "I think it could ease whatever is going on, so if you can then yeah." He says with shame.

Chan nods. "I'll head out now then."

"Okay." Felix nods. "Thank you."

Chan just nods his head as he leaves the room. As he goes to the station, Felix spends the hours in the same office. He went through the books and pulled out a few that look interesting, and started to read. He didn't want to see Hyunjin, so he basically hid in the office for the past couple of hours.

However, as the office door opens, he fears he has been found in his hiding spot. However, when a curious Seungmin enters the room instead, he lets out a sigh of relief.

Seungmin furrows his brows. "There you are, what are you doing in here? Hyunjin's looking for you."

"Tell him I'm not in here." Felix says.

Seungmin tilts his head, walking over to the sofa and sitting next to him. "Why? Did you guys fight again?" Seungmin says. "I mean, that would explain why you have been in here for hours."

"We didn't fight." Felix denies.

"Then why are you hiding from him?" Seungmin chuckles.

"Because I feel guilty." Felix says, closing the book he is reading and putting it on the side table. "And if Hyunjin's find out what I just did, we will be fighting. So I'm hiding."

"Woah, what did you do?" Seungmin asks. He looks to the door, then back to Felix. "You didn't like.. cheat or anything, right?"

"No! Why is everything about cheating?" Felix says.

"Well it's such a popular thing nowadays, people think it's cool or something." He says. "Please tell me you are stupid and naive like that, Felix. I hope I taught you better."

"I might be stupid and naive, but not because I cheated." Felix says.

"What did you even do? What could you even do that's so bad?" Seungmin chuckles.

"I just asked Chan to do a background check on Hyunjin because I don't trust him enough when he says he isn't a serial killer." Felix says.

"Oh shit." Seungmin says, wide eyed.

He isn't the only one wide eyed, however. Hyunjin's whole body freezes when he hears Felix's words. He entered the office from the other door leading to the library, excited to see Felix— however, he wishes he never came in.

He feels his chest begin to ache, never feeling this betrayed. Before he can start to cry, he runs out of the office. The door slams, starling the two males who where oblivious of somebody else in the room.

"Did you hear that?" Seungmin asks.

Hyunjin goes running around the corner, straight to the staircase, going as fast as he can. When he reaches the top of the stairs, running down the corridor to his room.

He begins to pack absolutely everything in the room. It takes him a few minutes, but he really didn't have that much stuff. After he is done with his room, he runs to Nabi's room. He takes all the packed bags and begins to go down the stairs.

"Hyunjin?" Minho enters the room, Seungmin following behind. Felix comes walking into the room at the commotion, stopping in his tracks when he sees Hyunjin's teary eyes.

The door slam starts to make sense now, and he looks to Seungmin slowly— who is already looking at him. He turns back to Hyunjin, "Hyunjin? What are you doing?"

"A fucking background check?!" Hyunjin yells. "Really, Felix?"

"Woah what?" Minho says, turning to Felix.

"Hyunjin.." Felix says, his voice beginning to falter, and he starts to cry. "Please don't... you don't understand."

"I don't understand?" Hyunjin repeats. "I think I understand perfectly." He says.

The front door opens, but not because Hyunjin opened it. Chan comes running into the house, seeing everybody crowded around. "Where is—" he turns around, meeting eyes with Hyunjin. "You."

He pulls out a pair of handcuffs, and everybody's breath hitches. "Hwang Hyunjin, you are under arrest for murder."

"what just happen"
