"Oh, please, please, please~ become a cop with us!!" Koro-sensei begged as he was right next to Y/n with comical tears rolling down his eyes. "It'll be so much fun! You weren't able to hang out with your favorite teachers when you went to the summer festival, so why not hang out with us!!"
E class couldn't help but sweatdrop at Koro-sensei action as he was hovering around and deadpanning Y/n. For gym class today, the class was playing a 'friendly' game of cops and robbers. With the students being robbers and running around the forest and mountains, and the teachers, Koro-sensei and Karasuma, as the cops, who are supposed to catch the students.
"Knock it off," Karasuma said with an irk on his cheek, trying to pull Koro-sensei away from Y/n. "This is a lesson not a game. Y/n is a student so he's going to be a robber with the rest of his class."
Koro-sensei slumped in his stance. "But he would make such a good cop..."
"Who cares!"
Y/n looked at his teachers weirdly as they bickered with one another. He then looked at Irina, she was talking with the girls about her recent mission. It seems like the girls of E class had taken a liking to her mission stories. Y/n then looked back at Koro-sensei and Karasuma.
"Am I still going to be a robber?" Y/n asked in confusion.
"Yes!"
"No!"
WACK!
"Yes, you are still going to be a robber, Y/n," Karasuma said casually as if he didn't just wack Koro-sensei on the head with a baton. "Don't listen to what he says."
Y/n blinked in shock along with the rest of the class who witnessed what happened. "O-Okay... Also, where did Koro-sensei get the cop outfit?"
"Cop what-?"
"Nyehehe~ We'll be the best cops around, Karasuma. Let's catch all these criminals and make them have extra homework!" Koro-sensei proclaimed with your everyday cop officer outfit, imminently recovering from the wack he received.
"YOU SURE GET OVER IT FAST, HUH?!"
Koro-sensei giggled to himself, catching the class's attention. "In this class, we'll be working on your parkouring and escaping skills! Karasuma will be the one to arrest you, while I will be keeping charge of the jail here. You all will have exactly five minutes to scatter and will have to survive 30 minutes once those five minutes are up! Look out, because I assure you we won't be going easy~"
"Remember that this is still a lesson, make sure you don't get caught," Karasuma ordered. "You got that?"
"Yes sir!"
Karasuma crossed his arms as he nodded. "Good. Your five minutes start... now!"
Being slightly shocked at the sudden announcement, all the students, and Irina, went rushing into the forest, as if running for their lives. Ritsu was on everyone's phone showing off the timer that was set up a minute before. As everyone scattered and hid, the cops waited.
"How 'bout this, if we manage to round them all up, they get double the homework," Koro-sensei proposed while chewing gum to keep the look.
Karasuma sighed. "Stop making this about roleplay," he grumbled.
Koro-sensei blew a bubble gum. "Aw, now, ain't no reason you can't be fun. You're just trying to hog all the good times for yourself. Puttin' me in charge of holding down the fort..."
"What did you expect?" Karasuma claimed the obvious. "You can't be the chaser. This is training." He grabbed his glove with the red pain on it as the timer slowly clicked down.
Y/n peeked from around the tree truck as he watched Karasuma slowly head into the forest from afar. He let out a small hum in calculation as the timer went off and Karasuma took off at inhuman speed to catch his first prey.
'With speed like that, and the strength, Karasuma is bound to catch at least half of the class,' Y/n thought to himself. He glanced at Koro-sensei. 'I'm not worried about him since he's too goble to be a real cop. But... I am worried about how much ground Karasuma is able to cover in a short amount of time...'
Y/n brows furrowed slightly as he then looked up. He noticed the large branches that sprouted from the tree trucks, some of them touching other branched from different trees. The leaves covered the light, and the branches were naturally shaded by them. Y/n tilted his head.
'That would work...'
"Five people were captured," Ritsu announced on Y/n's phone.
Y/n raised a brow as he put his teddy in his makeshift backpack. "Oh," he muttered. "Well, sucks to be them." He let out a small huff as he jumped, grabbed onto the branch nearest to him and lifted himself up. "Perfect."
Carefully maneuvering himself on the treetops, Y/n finally got the hang of jumping from branch to branch, to the point where he was almost running on top of them. He would look down and would see his fellow classmates, some were hiding, but most were getting caught.
Y/n watched at his classmates got picked off one by one in groups of five or three by Karasuma. He couldn't help but narrow his eyes. It has been only 15 minutes and E class was down to only a handful of students left.
"Hey, Ritsu," Y/n whispered as Karasuma tagged another student out. "How many people are left?"
"Out of the 28 players, there are only three left, including you," Ritsu explained, showing a list of all the captured students and Irina. "Nearly 90% of the players are captured. Hold on... I just got an update... Oh, oh dear..."
Y/n furrowed his brows. "What? What is it?"
The list of the people who are left changed. "Y/n, you're the last one standing."
"...Excuse me?"
Karasuma counted the amount of students in the 'jail'. His brows furrowed slightly as he had to keep recounting since he was now off by one. there was ten minutes on the clock and there was one student that was gone. Going down the list of names, Karasuma's eyes slightly widened.
"Has anyone seen Y/n?" Karasuma asked the group of people.
Everyone paused the worksheet that they were doing. They all looked at each other before looking around. Their eyes also widened. They could still win the game of cops and robbers.
"Y/n's still out there."
"That means we still have a chance of no double homework!"
"Hell yeah!"
Karasuma deadpanned at pure determination of his students in order to not get extra homework. He hummed to himself as he tried to think if he had caught a glimpse of (h/c) or of Y/n's teddy bear. However, his mind turned up blank.
Karasuma narrowed his eyes as he looked down, thinking. That's what footprints caught his eyes. He crouched down slightly and examined the footprints better. He raised a brow as he noticed that the shoeprints had a small bear symbol in the center; it was Y/n's shoes.
Karasuma was quick to follow the shoe prints along the sand, then the dirt, then into the forest. He turned at a tree trunk and then stopped. The tracks of stopped as the dirt was miss placed. Looking back from the jail then to where the tree was, Karasuma made a conclusion.
'He was watching the beginning for a while,' Karasuma claimed to himself. 'He stayed here until the timer went off it seemed, completely out of sight and near the start... But I swept the area twice there's no way I couldn't have...' He paused.
Karasuma looked up, a branch resided right above him, just in arm reach for someone shorter than him. 'Ah, he went up.' His eyes trailed the branched. 'He went up and stayed there. He's been watching me hasn't he. In fact... I can feel him watching me right now.'
Y/n watched a few trees down at Karasuma scanned the area, dully and plainly. Y/n furrowed his brows as he watches in anticipation. His eyes suddenly widened when Karasuma jumped onto the branches and started to scale up to his level in the air. But then, Karasuma paused. He pulled out his phone and just sat there, waiting.
Y/n could feel his heartbeat faster. Karasuma didn't move, he only watched his phone silently. Y/n couldn't help but lean forwards slightly. Pure silence filled the air. Only the wistful sounding of the trees in the wind could be heard.
"Five minutes remaining!" Ritsu announced, her voice echoing in Karasuma's phone, and Y/n's phone.
Almost immediately, Karasuma looked up and at the exact location where Y/n was because that was where Ritsu's voice was heard. Y/n's eyes widened as he made eye contact with his teacher. Feeling the need to run, Y/n did so; almost as if he was a prey being hunted down by a predator. Thus, began the chase.
Y/n jumped from branch to branch. He could hear the rustling of leaves behind him as Karasuma drew nearer and closer to where he was. Y/n could feel his heart pounding in his rib cage and pure fear filled his veins. This wasn't just a game anymore, was it? No, it felt like Y/n was in a different mind place than Karasuma was.
Instead of jumping from branch to branch, Y/n was jumping through roof tops. He would crash into a window before jumping back to a roof top and continuing. He could feel tears prick his eyes as the dark figure crept closer and closer. It grazed his uncut hair as the wind picked up.
If Y/n were to look back he would see a figure, dressed in pure white with black tentacles chasing after Y/n. No, this wasn't a game for training, this was life or death. Y/n would be given life if he were to return safely back home, or if he got away, but he would be given death if he failed.
"One minute left!" Ritsu's voice rang through Y/n's head.
Y/n jumped from branch to branch almost franticly as Karasuma drew closer to him. With each step, Y/n could feel himself getting tired, he could feel fatigue eating at him to stop, but he didn't - he couldn't. He almost missed placed his footing only to recover and go back to running.
The figure drew closer to Y/n. It was teasing him. Taunting him on how he would never escape fate - never escapes the fact that he was an experiment, a plaything for everyone to enjoy. Y/n felt like he was suffocating. His breathing wasn't normal, nor was his sight. Everything seemed to be falling apart around him.
Suddenly, Y/n crashed into a wall. He looked up at the wall, then around. He couldn't escape, he was done for. Y/n's breathing picked up as a cloudy ink wondered in his mind. He turned around, and there was the figure standing before him. It loomed over him, teasingly. The white figure suddenly smiled before pointing at him. Y/n covered his eyes, bracing for something to be stabbing through him, once again...
Y/n heard a snap. His eyes widened as he let out a sharp gasp. The branch he was trying to land on suddenly snapped under him. He was going to fall. He reached up, trying to grasp anything that could help him, but he only scratched his hand along the bark of the tree as he was left free falling to the hard, earthy ground.
"Y/N!!"
A hand suddenly grasps onto Y/n's, the one that was trying to reach for something. Feeling a small crack of his bones, Y/n looked up as he was now dangling in the air by the person that had grabbed him. His eyes widened when he notices that it was Karasuma; Karasuma saved him.
"K... Karasuma...?" Y/n whispered out.
"Hold on, Y/n!" Karasuma grunted as he slowly began to pull Y/n up to the branch he was on. "I got you, just don't let go!"
Slowly but surely, Y/n was pulled onto the branch that Karasuma was on. The branch was thick and sturdy enough to hold both of their body weights as Karasuma was holding onto Y/n protectively and with horror in his eyes that he could've lost his student today.
"Y/n! Why weren't you listening to me?!" Karasuma shouted, holding Y/n by his shoulders. "The game ended three minutes ago, and you kept running?? Don't you know how dangerous it is to even be up here?? I kept calling and calling... and... and..." He started to trail off as he noticed Y/n's tearful face.
Y/n looked up at Karasuma, tears overflowing his eyes as his nose was starting to turn red from small sniffling. Karasuma's brows furrowed in concern as his grip on Y/n's shoulders lesson. He carefully held onto Y/n as his eyes softened.
"I... I thought..." Y/n muttered. "I thought I was going to die..."
Karasuma leaned back slightly in surprise. "Die? It's not that far of a height no one would be killed. What do you mean you were going to die?"
Y/n looked down at his hands as he was trembling. "I... A few years ago... I tried running away, from-from him; I tried running away from him... I ran and I ran. I jumped and climbed but he always caught up to me at the end... Karasuma..." He looked up at his teacher. "...I was going to die..."
Karasuma's eyes widened in horror at Y/n's words. The reason why Y/n was so good at hiding, so good at parkour, was because he was trying to get away from Shiro? Karasuma's hands hovered over Y/n's head. Slowly, Karasuma pulled Y/n into a comforting hug. Y/n gripped onto Karasuma's shirt as he trembled in his hole, his eyes wide in horror.
"It's okay, Y/n," Karasuma hushed. "I'm here, everything is okay."
"I-I was s-so scared..." Y/n trembled.
Karasuma only held Y/n tighter. "Shh, it's okay. I'm here with you, I'm here. I'm here, Y/n."
Y/n's ragged breathing slowly calmed. His eyelids felt heavy as he slowly closed his eyes. His grip on Karasuma was strong and he never left go, even when Karasuma slowly got down from the tree branch he was on. Karasuma held a sleeping Y/n in his arms. A small buzzing from his pocket was felt and Karasuma had to slowly shift Y/n to one arm as he picked it up.
"Hey," Karasuma whispered, his voice soft in order to not wake up Y/n. "Yeah... I have him... What happened? He... He fell asleep while hiding... Yeah... I guess this counts as a robbers' win."
A tear slipped Y/n's eye as he leaned closer to Karasuma's warm figure, a huge contract to Shiro's cold one.
OMAKE: Past and Present
"Y/n."
"Yes... sir?"
"Your training..."
"What... What about it sir?"
"In your next mission, you'll be using it. Do you understand me?"
"... What? But sir, what about this mission? I thought-"
"You dare question me, Y/n?"
"...
"No sir..."
"Good. Now, get ready. Especially since you're not going to school for the next few days."
"Oh... Y-Yes sir."
"Was that a stutter?"
"No sir..."
"It better not be. I raised you better than to be a stuttering mess."
"Yes... sir."
