Jake, Drew, Liam, and Henry had been close for a long time. And in that time they did everything together. They knew everything about each other. The four of them were as close as any friends could be
But despite being so close, and being so trusting of each other, there was one thing Liam hadn't told any of them
Liam was transgender, female to male. No one had found out. The only person that knew was his mom, and she was super supportive
He didn't wanna tell his friends yet though. When he was a kid, all the other kids in his classes would make fun of him and bully him. He didn't think his friends would be mean about it if they knew, but he didn't wanna risk it
It had been on his mind a lot lately. Especially since he had gym this semester, and every time asked if he could change in a separate bathroom
It was all he could think about. The desperate urge to just come out and say it to his closest friends. Especially to Henry. But at the same time, he was scared to

"Liam? Liiiiaaaam???"
Liam snapped out of his thoughts, and saw that his friends were all staring at him
"What...?"
"You were zoning out again..." Henry said, concerned "you seem to be doing that a lot lately..."
"S-Sorry, I've just...got a lot on my mind..." Liam said
"You wanna talk about it?" Jake asked
"N-No!!" Liam quickly answered. His friends stared at him, more confused
"N-No....sorry, no..." Liam said "B-But don't worry, I'm fine..."
The warning bell rang, and the group started to get cleaned up. Jake and Drew left to walk to class together, leaving Liam and Henry alone together
"Are you sure you're okay, Liam...?" Henry asked. Liam nodded with a slight smile
"I'm okay, Henry..." he said. Henry hesitated before saying "okay...", and the two of them headed off

When Liam got home, he immediately went to the kitchen where his mother was
"Mom.....?"
"Hey, kid! How was your day?"
Liam shrugged, hanging his bag over the back of a chair, sitting down in the chair after
"Something wrong...?"
Liam thought for a minute, then said;
"...mom, uh...I wanna tell my friends...at least just Henry..."
"Tell them what?"
"...I...I wanna tell them I'm transgender..."
Liam's mother's eyes went a little wide
"Well, honey, that's your choice...if you feel comfortable enough to tell them, then-"
"Th-That's the thing..." Liam said "I...I wanna tell him but...I'm scared..."
Liam's mom tried to figure out the best way to comfort her son in this moment
"Out of your three friends, Henry's the one you're closest with. Correct?"
Liam looked up, then nodded
"Had he ever judged you for anything?"
Liam shook his head no in response
"Well, then if and when you tell him, I'm sure the reaction will be positive..."
Liam smiled
"Thanks mom..." he said before getting up and hugging his mother
"No problem, kid.."
"I'm gonna go play Minecraft...maybe call the guys..." Liam said. His mom nodded in response
"If you need anything, let me know!" she smiled, as Liam took his stuff from the back of the chair
"Okay, thanks..!" Liam said, before going upstairs to his room, and fell back on his bed. A bunch of thoughts were going through his mind. He began to think back to when he first decided he wanted to transition

*Flashback*
5th grade Liam was staring at himself in the mirror, shaking like a leaf. His whole life he'd felt wrong. Like he was in the wrong body
He knew he wasn't a girl. He didn't wanna be a girl
And he was about to go tell his mother that
"Y-You can do this..." he said to himself "J-Just go and say it..."
Feeling slightly sick to his stomach with nervousness, Liam slowly opened his bedroom door, and walked out. He could hear food sizzling and dishes clanging downstairs in the kitchen. Slowly he walked down, and stood in the doorway of the kitchen
"M-Mom...?"
Liam's mom was busy making chicken strips and french fries, with a side of frozen for dinner. Once the fries were in the oven and the oven was closed and started, she looked over
"Hey, sweetheart! What's up?"
"C-Can...Can we talk...?"
Liam's mom had a feeling something was wrong. So she quickly stopped what she was doing, and out her oven mitts on the kitchen counter beside the stove
"Okay, what's up..?" she asked. Liam took a shaky breath, scared for what he was about to say
"....M-Mom, I....I don't...think I wanna be a girl...it feels...weird...and...and wrong...and um....I wanna be a boy...."
Liam's mom stared at her child for a few minutes, then asked;
"Is that really how you feel, hun...?"
Liam slowly nodded, scared for what his mother's response will be
"Okay, how long have you been feeling like you were more a boy than a girl...?"
"Um...about...a month and a half maybe..." Liam said "but I've always been kinda confused..."
Liam's mom walked over
"Honey, were you scared to tell me...?"
Liam nodded, almost starting to cry
"I-I didn't want you to be angry at me or anything..." he said
"Honey, I'm not mad at you at all...!" Liam's mom said before hugging her son
Liam was in a little bit of shock, then hugged his mom back. Liam's mom looked at him after a few seconds
"We can go out tomorrow and get you some new clothes and stuff, alright...?"
Liam smiled and nodded
"Thank you, mom..."
*End of flashback*

Liam smiled a bit, thinking back on the mostly positive memory
"Oh, to heck with it!!" he said to himself, sitting up. "I'll tell him tomorrow!!"

The next day at lunch, Liam was looking around the halls for Henry. He saw Henry walking down the hall, his earbuds in. His music was so loud, you could hear it blasting out of the earbuds
Liam walked up to Henry and stood in front of him, making him lower the volume on his music
"Hey, Liam!" he smiled
"Hi, Henry. Um...before we go find the others, can...I talk to you privately about something...?"
Henry stared at Liam confused. He fully took his earbuds out
"Y-Yeah, sure. Um...rooftop sound like a good place to talk?"
Liam nodded, and him and Henry made their way to the stairway to the rooftop

"Sooooo...what's up?" Henry asked, swaying back and forth a bit as he stood in front of Liam
Liam looked down nervous, anxiously fidgeting with the string of his vest
"...first, I...I want you to promise me you won't be angry with me after I say that..." Liam said. Henry started to grow worried. He had no idea what this conversation, that was suddenly sprung on him, would be about
"Um...okay...? L-Liam, you're starting to scare me...just tell me what's going on..."
Liam took a deep breath, then finally got out the secret that had been bugging him for a while
"...Henry, I....I'm transgender...female to male...all my life, I...never really felt like a girl...and when I was in the fifth grade, I...realized I definitely wasn't a girl...I-I started getting my hair cut short, wearing binders...only my mom really knows...a lot of other people at my elementary school called me "the super tomboyish girl weirdo"...I switched elementary schools after fifth grade...I was put in under the name Liam, and...no one ever found out..."
Henry's eyes went a bit wide
"Did...anyone every find out at your old school...?" he asked. Liam crossed his arms, looking down a bit
"Um...y-yeah...a couple kids did find out...I don't even know how, but they did...they'd all poke fun at me...c-call me my deadname...it was awful...I switched cause I was getting bullied and wanted a fresh start...I never told anyone at my new elementary school..."
Henry could tell Liam was scared
"Henry, please...please don't be angry at me about this..."
"What...?!"
Liam looked up at Henry
"I'm not mad at all....!! I-In fact, I'm glad you feel comfortable enough telling me...!!"
"R-Really...?"
Henry nodded. He then took a step closer to Liam, and out his arms around him
"In fact, I...I think it's good we're up here...and it's also good you told me...cause I wanna tell you that...I'm in love with you, Liam..."
Liam turned red, staring at Henry
"I say that I think it's glad you told me cause uh...a key factor in relationships is honesty..."
"I-I love you too...!" Liam smiled before kissing Henry
The two of them stayed like that for about two minutes, then looked at each other
"Um...can we not tell anyone about this yet...? About either thing...?" Liam asked
Henry nodded. "Of course...your secret is safe with me...and I promise, I won't tell anyone about us dating until you're ready for them to know too..."
Liam smiled before hugging Henry
"Thanks, Hen...you're the best..."
"It's not a problem at all...ready to go find the others...?"
Liam looked down at Henry
"Yeah..." he said
With that, the two of them headed off, huge smiles on their faces, and Liam feeling a million times better than he had the day before
