POV: HC!Grian

Grian sighed, closing the book. He'd snuck into X's library for some hope of finding something to help with the rift, but currently his actions seemed futile. It was quite painful to read about them... but he had to. But, for all his effort, nothing new was in the library - In fact, a lot of the admin's information was inaccurate. Specifically when regarding... That server. It was odd, knowing that was how players perceived them... War hungry monsters, victims of their own design...

Suddenly, he heard footsteps nearby. "Primals-" He quietly whispered. With a quick twist of his magic, he disappeared, reappearing in his base. He'd decided on using his magic, as long as he didn't use too much. If they knew who he was, small spells like that would change practically nothing. Besides, it was likely they'd guessed Pearl's position in all of this already...

Poor Pearl... She'd always been the better of the two of them... No, now was not the time to fall into that hole of memories. It'd been a dark time, but he was over it now. He was stable.

Pearl had been watching the rift, and he decided to check on her. The two of them had decided one would work on research while one watched over the portal-like tear in realities.

So far all they knew about the rift was that it linked their reality with wherever the life-server people had come from. The two had tried smaller spells to try to slip through the protections, yet nothing had worked.

He glided down into the cavern, to see Pearl standing before the rift. Landing behind her, Pearl didn't turn around, but, despite the fact she remained facing the rift, she literally jumped in surprise, her wings spreading out from surprise.

"Sunshine!" She spoke as he stepped forwards, her eyes never leaving the rift, but her tone was surprised..

"Hi Moon..." He paused. Something seemed... Wrong. A cloak of unease over the interaction. Pearl was planning something... He knew it.

"Your back early..." She continued, having composed herself. Her tone was flat, and she was twisting her hands, but she was simply a silhouette before the rift. This was all too familiar, and made him shiver. Pearl didn't want him to know something.

"Moon, what's going on?" He quickly stepped forwards, wanting to help his friend.

"Go back to your base, or to the library. I have a test to do." Pearl's voice was cold, and he knew she was going to try something risky.

"Moon-" He stopped in his tracks, frantically trying to figure out how to stop Pearl from doing whatever she was planning on. He couldn't convince her, Pearl was as stubborn as him... But he couldn't fight her, he'd lose, and besides, he didn't want to hurt her!

"I can't risk you, I'm sorry. Not again" Pearl sighed, and turned and turned, revealing that she'd been weaving magic between her fingers. She released the spell, and before he could pull up a shield, Pearl's spell had slammed into him, Dipping him into darkness he was shoved through reality.

He was on a snowy peak. With a sigh, he opened his communicator, to check his coords. He was thousands upon thousands of blocks away. Of course. He couldn't teleport back without his magic overflowing, as his stamina wasn't great these days... But he couldn't message Pearl, or get someone to check on her, as admins can check the chat logs. He trusted X, but he didn't want to risk it, and besides, if someone checked on Pearl, she might get exposed, and he couldn't risk that either... And he couldn't just leave her

There was no better option. Gritting his teeth, he began to channel his magic.

Teleport a few thousand blocks away from everyone, that way if he lost control, no one would find him... That was the plan. With a final twist, the spell took effect, and he squeezed his eyes closed, as emotions, foreign, not his, yet familiar, natural, flooded his brain.

A smirk came over his face, he fought against it as much as possible, but the emotions from his magic overwhelmed him until he couldn't fight back - No, he didn't WANT to fight them. It was nice to not feel as afraid for once...

Besides, he should let the watchers come, he could take them on anyway. Heck, let the hermits come. They were pitiful. He might as well just end those mortals now and be done with it.

He smiled, pulling out his mask, the evo symbol carved in the front. He placed it onto his face, his halo appearing above him as he transformed into his watcher form, with long black robes dripping down, and the dye from his wings almost getting sucked into the inky black feathers dappled with specks of white. Above his head, a glowing violet eye blinked into existence, allowing vision despite the white mask covering his eyes.

His violet magic coiled around his finger. He turned to a nearby tree, shooting a blast of energy at it for the heck of it. The stump smoldered and his smirk grew. He felt so powerful... He could take on the world...

An arrow sunk into his shoulder from a stray skeleton in the woods, causing him to stumble, losing his concentration from the blooming pain...

With the loss of his concentration on his magic, the trance-like state vanished, causing him to fall to his knees. Tears fell from his eyes. He hated that, he hated it so much. Another arrow hit him, bringing back to reality. The wounds were healing unnaturally fast, but it still stung.

The pain reminded him it was not the time. He stood, wiping his eyes, grabbing the mask and shoving it back into the depths of his inventory. He had to help his friend. He quickly took off, his wings flapping against the air. He had to get to Pearl.

"Primals protect us-" He whispered as he dove towards the cavern.

The sound of a scream, all too familiar, nearly made him fall out of the air, but somehow he managed to make it to the cave, landing with only a couple hearts of damage from impacting on the stone floor.

Pearl was standing towards the rift, channeling magic towards it, the magic getting reflected from the barrier, hitting the ground nearby and dispersing. She was breathing heavily, but had stopped screaming all seemed good, until he realised she was muttering under her breath.

She was repeating a phrase over and over... "It's not real it's not real it's not real-." And he knew he was too late to stop her.

"Moon!" He yelled, running forwards. He needed to break her concentration somehow - She was on the edge of breaking!

Pearl was shaking, tears falling onto the stone floor as she sank to her knees.

"Moon, you can hold on- Please- It's me Sunshine-" He cried, not risking getting too close - It wouldn't help anyone for him to get permakilled.

His communicator buzzed, and out of instinct, he shot it a glance.

<GoodTimeWithScar was slain by Pearlescentmoon>

No time to question that - it was likely Scarlet, not Pearl. He'd deal with it later. For now, he had to help Pearl. But it was too late.

Pearl whipped around, her eyes wide and wild, staring at him in terror, a pulse of her magic flowed towards him.

"Circles-" He cursed, pulling up a shield with his magic and bracing against the floor. He had to be careful - He had to knock her out, not kill her, and if he wanted that, he couldn't overuse his magic. He had to keep his control, and he could already feel that waning after his previous overuse. He took a deep breath and dropped the shield, taking to the skies.

He began to weave a sleep spell, and luckily, Pearl seemed distracted by other things she was seeing, constantly looking around and attacking the walls of the cavern, screaming and crying. It was always terrifying to see his friend in this state.

He swooped down, and released the spell, flying back up quickly. He stayed there as Pearl began to sway from the drowsiness caused by the spell, and finally, fell to the stone.

Flying down, He grabbed his friend, and pulled her into his arms.

"Moon... I'm so sorry-" He quietly whispered, his tears falling onto her cheeks.
