"Won't it be too loud for you?" Shoji and Shizu were on their normal spot on the roof, she sighed nodding her head 'cheering' she signed, and he looked down at her hands in confusion "That's the sign for cheering"
"Oh, the cheering will be loud?" she nodded her head, and he tilted his to be in her eyesight, his eyes clouded with worry. She smiled and pushed it away "There's a reason why I haven't ever asked for my hearing back" her head fell on his shoulder; they fell into their comfortable silence. But he wanted to press for more information, instead all he did was offer her his hand. She looked down at it in surprise then back up to his face with wide red eyes, it was almost as if he could see her tail wagging. She grasped it tightly and her head fell back on his shoulder, he opened the book she gave him. The pair read in close silence.
That day the pair were walking back when Shizu stopped, turning her gaze, shoji only just noticed and tried to spot what she was looking at. "I just remembered, I had to do something for my neighbour" she turned around and smiled happily, Shoji only patted her head and then walked away, trying to ignore his curiosity. His face dropped his casual gaze as he looked over his shoulder in worry, she was a pretty girl with so many secrets.
Shizu however didn't look over her shoulder, she stepped into the alleyway with ease, as she did, she lifted her leg in a spinning kick landing beside the man next to her. "Your hot when you play scary" he smiled, gently pushing her foot away. She let it fall to the ground "I told you not to follow me when I'm coming back from school"
"It's important though" he cut in, and she looked at his lips intently "You can't do the sports festival"
"What?" she muttered, and the man's brows furrowed in genuine worry, he leaned in closer "He's going to be their" she widened her eyes and shook her head. "They won't let a criminal through"
"They won't have a choice" he muttered "Fear tactics Shizu, you know our gang" she pushed the guy up against the wall in anger, and he only smirked back at her. "I can't just not do it; I need these people to hire me" the boy only shrugged his shoulders "I passed on all I thought I should tell you" He smiled leaning into her "Now do I get a prize" she only cupped his cheek staring him deeply into his eyes. Before pushing him away in disgust, angrily she walked away. However instead of going home to her neatly cleaned apartment, pink, red and white colour coded. She came home to her stuff thrown across the floor everywhere, her body began to tremble, she let out a loud scream. Running into her house, she found all her electronics even her fancy jewellery still in place. Her neighbour opened the door in concern when he noticed her scream, his eyes wide when he saw her room. She was in the middle crying and frantically searching through it, trying to find something one item that the thief had stolen.
Shoji ran as quickly as he could to her house, the neighbour answered the door when he was knocking frantically Shizu's hair was down as she folded and organised her things again. The guy sighed "I didn't just want to leave her like this" he muttered, he nodded walking in the house.
'Ok' he signed; she could recognise those hands in a second. She spun on the spot and hugging him tightly, suddenly she was wailing loudly, her body trembling. He fell to the floor with her, stroking her hair carefully. Shoji wasn't one for physical affection, but this moment he knew that was all the both of them needed. After a while of silence, her breathing almost even, she had sudden sobs, but she was finally chilled out. "Shall we clean this up, and see what was stolen"
"Shoji" his eyes widened, she always just called him handsome but the way it rolled off her lips made him so happy. "Shoji, they didn't steal anything" he flinched and looked down at her, she was looking around in fear "They didn't steal?"
"Which I think is scarier than them actually stealing something" Shoji stood up, opening any area human sized. "Shoji?" she muttered, following him "What?"
"They might still be here, if they didn't steal anything" he explained, and she just grabbed his hand "Excuse me if this is impolite" he looked towards her, this girl when faced with basically death had a face of anger. But now she was crumbling, she was still trembling looking scared while gripping his hand. He needed to protect her. "But do you have anywhere where I could stay?" he nodded his head, when he opened his mouth to speak, she covered it. Pulling out her phone "What if their cameras or microphones" he messaged him, he looked around the room concerningly. Nodding his head "Yeah my sister lives on the outskirts of town, I'll help you pack" He lied with a doubtful face.
"Thank you for allowing me to stay" Shizu bowed, and Shoji's mum squealed in delight "My you are so pretty" she chirped, tapping her to look up at her again. "Oh, wait you didn't hear that" she shook her head "Your very pretty, I'm so happy Shoji has a happy girlfriend" Shoji flinched but the girl only shook her head.
"No, I wanted to tell you how pretty you are" She chirped and then pointed at Shoji "Only a pretty woman could make a handsome Shoji" The woman pulled her into a tight hug "Your so cute!" she cheered, and the girl just smiled sweetly. Shoji watched with a smile, if anyone could calm and comfort anyone it would be his mother. After the introductions, Shoji showed her into his room, she observed it calmly. It was a basic room, with a plain bed, wardrobe a desk and a poster. She looked up at the poster and smiled "Mum said she changed the bed sheets for you" Shizu looked towards the bed
"Where will you sleep?"
"The sofa" he pointed with his thumb over his shoulder, she shook her head and picked up the pillows from the bed "I'll sleep on the sofa"
"Then it will be crowded" Shoji tried to joke, and she sighed looking down awkwardly "Would your mum understand if I said I didn't want to be alone tonight" his eyes widened, and he turned around leaving the room. Shizu only blinked in silence and Shoji returned with the sofa cushions, throwing them on the floor next to his bed. She watched him with wide eyes as he made a makeshift bed, 'bed' he signed, and she nodded sitting on it 'no' she furrowed her brows 'my bed' she looked behind her "This is my bed" Shoji muttered, and she shook her head "I shouldn't steal your bed from you"
"But it's more comfortable, and you've had a hard day" She looked up and then crawled up onto his bed. She watched him as she cuddled the pillow Shoji chuckled, she resembled a cat the way she just observed him. "The only rule with this!" the boy jumped and that caused Shizu to look towards the door "Keep this open" she nodded her head and Shoji sighed "No adult activities"
"Mum what are you even saying!" Shoji grumbled rolling his eyes, his mum only smiled politely "You are a man, with a pretty girl in your room." His cheeks flushed and he shook his head quickly "We're not even dating!" he called. Shizu however found herself staring at his mask "Are you going to wear that to sleep"
'Yes', he signed
"Uh don't leave me out of this conversation" his mum crossed her arms "You can't wear that mask to sleep, you will overheat" Shizu nodded her head pointing at his mum. "I'm glad you agree" the boy only pulled his mask up higher looking down at the floor.
Night had finally fallen, and Shizu looked up at Shoji expectantly "Why do you want to see my face so bad?" the smile that blessed her face was a knowing one. He sighed, knowing that she would just repeat that he was handsome. He however turned the lights off, the room was pitch black and he finally took his mask off to sleep "Can you blame me for wanting to know your secret" she muttered, and he looked up at the bed where she was. Although it was dark, he could see her glittering wings in the dark, he sighed "Me too" he muttered, knowing that she couldn't actually see him in the dark.
The pair sat in silence for a long while, Shoji normally was a night owl, staying up watching videos or studying but he didn't want to keep Shizu awake. Plus, the light on his phone would reveal his face, and as much as he wanted to share all his secrets with her, he didn't want to scare her away. Although Shizu also was up still, her gaze was on the ceiling, her thoughts going over how she could get over the sports festival with ease. Without seeing his face or hearing his voice. "God" she grumbled rolling over in bed, her wings raised as she tried to use the glitter to see Shoji. Suddenly her phone chimed, she picked it up 'Do you want me? I can see your wings peering at me' she read the message. It was from Shoji. She chuckled "Yeah"
'You, ok?' she sighed reading the message, turning her gaze towards the guy in the bed. He was concealed under the covers, not seeing her gaze. "Can you come up here" he flinched hearing her quiet voice "I'll close my eyes, I just" she paused. Shoji placed down his phone, quietly pulling himself up to lie next to her. "Can I hug you" Shoji didn't answer knowing she had her eyes shut, so he gently wrapped his arms around her. The girl took a deep breath "Today was so bad" she muttered snuggling her face into his chest, as the tears sprung up again, he shushed her quietly brushing her hair again "It was a warning" her muffled voice cried "He's back, and he's wanting me back" Shoji just snuggled his head into her head.
