Virdjana's POV

Walking from one alley to another, knowing every dead-end, familiarizing which routes are the longest, or shortest, a forté I have mastered over the years as the city's most notorious thief. If anybody would ask me, I could tell them that I do not enjoy these titles in vain, except I would not.

Arcacia city is a bustling merchant hotspot for locals and foreigners alike to compete for who is the best when it comes to hauling customers' pockets empty. Unfortunately for them, I am better at emptying people's pockets no matter what their status is.

"The streets are as busy as ever." commented my companion, Reggie, a walking lethal sniper.

"Why do you keep getting close to me? You should go to your mark." I scolded as I made my way inside a particular famous grocery store from its backdoor.

"People usually just mind their own business, and by people, I meant the wealthy. Plus, I'm not sniping anyone today." He replies with a matching shrug.

I sighed as I glanced at my partner, who was floating to my left, wearing his trademark grin. A passerby would occasionally, or at me. Sometimes, I forget that normal people can not see him. The only reason why I can communicate with him is through our enchanted necklaces. I acted normal, I believe it was like second nature to me. Easy as a pie.

I calmly walked behind the counter where a cashier looked preoccupied with a call. I prepared my dagger as a means to threaten the lady. "What lovely weather right missy?"

A glint of fear, I noticed it immediately, too bad for her I have studied everyone in this store before making it my target. "Laura Zoen, Frost Village, ability Ripples."

She flinched, and with a poor attempt, tried to cast a magic spell against me. "Ah, did nobody tell you that you move like a sloth?"

"You-! I'll call security!" Her voice was trembling and it was most obvious that she was doing her best not to shed a tear.

"It's 6 in the morning, guards in this city are too relaxed. Your boss didn't even bother to hire a single guard for this shop." I told her in a matter-of-fact tone. "Ah, I also know that the dairy products in this establishment suck, so no one walks past these isles."

There it is. The woman finally began crying without trying to challenge me. Does no one in this place have the balls to fight me, except the city guards?

"What's going on here?" A stern male voice asked from behind the Ripple user, and as soon as this Laura girl met his eyes, she seemed to have magically received the courage to talk back.

"Boss!" Laura ran behind him. "G-Get the thief!"

I spun my blade and hid it under my sleeves. I took a step back and smiled at the man she called her boss. "I was wondering what was taking you so long, Reggie."

"What?" Laura fumbled down on the floor as she watched her Boss' skin glitch away with black sparks.

In her eyes, his boss simply disintegrated into the air itself, to my eyes Reggie just stopped being visible to Laura because he had already stopped using the Mimicry spell.

"I tried talking to other people, they really can't see me V." complained my ghostly guardian, ignoring the trembling person beneath his feet.

"We already know that." I rolled my eyes, "keep her quiet."

As soon as I finished racking the cash into my cape's pockets, an annoying plea came out of the woman's mouth. "K-Kid, didn't your parents tell you that daggers are dangerous?"

"Oho?" I cracked my neck, before snapping the phone this woman was eyeing all this time into two. "You gotta act normal if you don't want this dagger in your neck," I smirked.

Reggie continued to watch us with a deadpanning expression on his face.

"Y-you are a menace to society! Restovakians, despite all the things the government had done for your kind, you give back double the problems to them. The true clans would remain at the top. We..." Laura took a long pause, and when our eyes met, she was already giving me this crazy glare, "We are much better than you."

I was silent for a while. The woman was not wrong with how Restovakians are treated in Arcacia after all. Their superior complex makes any normal day of a Restovakian feel like trash, the treatment is relatable.

"Hey." I crouched down to her level. "Shut up. If you want me to behead you, speak again."

Laura Zoen gulped, eyes looking away, however, her internal thoughts just would not.

"Aish, so loud," I grumbled.

After I got what I wanted, I forced her to escort me out of the backdoor by making her a lookout for her co-employees.

"Restovakian trash." I heard her harshly whisper in my right ear.

I took a step outside the store, but not without saying something back, "Until next time."

Her face turned red out of anger.

Not a minute later, the stores' alarms blared. I glanced at Reggie who had already vanished as soon as the sounds of marching followed from the corner of the shop. It seems like someone witnessed this case like usual. This is the part I hate the most.

"V. Move!" I looked on top of a neighboring building and saw my partner projecting the locations of the guards through his ability.

I clenched my fists to prepare for the chase, "this is getting annoying."

A frown appeared on Reggie's face as he raised his eyebrows to retort, "Really? Do you have any other plans in life then?" He was sarcastic, "How many times have I saved you from jail again? Not to mention this isn't the time to complain."

I glared at him, but he was unbothered.

As I was making my way to avoid the red dots on the holographic map, a particular dot was closing the gap towards me fast. "I forgot about her. She was discharged from the hospital yesterday. So persistent."

"Found you~." It was none other than my 'closest friend', mark the sarcasm.

"Good day Chief! It seems like you've already recovered." I greeted her as I tightened the mask on my face because she always tries her best to remove it. I'm surprised that she never gave up even after she tasted defeat so many times.

"Miss me?" The Chief Officer is a relentless middle age woman who considers herself my archnemesis, and as childish as it sounds, she is serious about it.

"Do you have to appear behind me and scare the hell out of me?" I asked as I ducked to dodge an incoming jab, before continuously jumping backward to evade her kicks.

"Why of course. You said it yourself, we are best of friends. White Cat." She spoke sardonically.

"Uhh, oh what's that? Casters?!" I shouted as I pointed to the skies. The fools fell for it.

"Get that thief!" shouted the Chief Officer.

"Time to play" I stated.

I was running slowly because I wanted them to believe that they could catch me again. It brings me amusement whenever I watch them high-five and celebrate after tying me up. However, I have to admit that this chase excites me every time.

Soon enough, the guards were able to trap me in a dead end, at least that's what they thought. Sometimes, you just got to play make-believe with the children.

"There she is." scoffed the Chief Officer as she pulled the enchanted handcuffs from her pants.

"We finally shut her down. How's the mental stress?" laughed the Chief's subordinate.

"Having fun?" My voice modulator allows me to hide my identity, so all they could hear from my mask were a layered combination of male and female voices.

"We're ready to end you." Said another while rubbing his palms together.

When the Chief was about to lock the handcuffs around my wrists, I could not help myself but chuckle as I swung my arms to avoid the cuff.

She glared at me.

"You think it's that easy to make me surrender?!" I elbowed both guards grabbing my shoulders, and sent both men flying with a round-house kick.

"No!" The chief shrieked, dashing towards me with a barrage of kicks.

"I already know your movements. In other words, I've memorized you Chief. There's no fun here anymore." I whispered, pulling my daggers out of their sheaths and shattering the handcuffs' locks. "Now it's useless, just like you."

"Don't let her escape!" ordered the Chief Officer.

"Yes, chief!" responded the city guards with her.

"If you can." I threw the ball of spikes on the ground, but not just any normal kind, as soon as they entered its radius a blast of air occurred that blew them out of the dead-end.

I laughed at how pitiful they became. Why are they such a joke? All other units of their platoon have already given up the chase, why are they making a fool of themselves?

"See you never," I told Chief Officer as I hop on top of a hurrying carriage.

"This won't be the end White Cat! You hear me!" she stomped on the ground, her nostrils flaring up.

It was amusing watching the Chief Officer became the size of a rodent as the carriage sped up.

"I'm pretty sure I left a mark in this city." I proudly told Reggie as I sit cross-legged on the roof of the vehicle.

"Pretty much." He agreed as he returns inside my necklace.

"Onto the next one." I grinned to myself.
