'Rani' Kajol said and hugged her at once 'how did this happen? Are you okay?' Kajol asked when she pulled back, she looked at Rani's wrapped hand and the bandage placed to her temple, Rani looked silently at Shahrukh and Kajol rolled her eyes 'I told him everything. Tell me what happened with you'
'We rode the car, they started fighting and Saif couldn't keep an eye on the road, a bus came from the left and hit the car. Preity was the most hurt'
'Where is she now?' Shahrukh asked sadly
'Both of them are sedated, thank god the air bags popped out, and that we were wearing the seat belts yet they were both hurt the most' Rani replied
'Do you want me to take you home?' Kajol asked kindly
'No, I won't leave' Rani nodded in denial
'Okay, sit down. We are waiting here with you' Shahrukh said calmly and the three of them sat down to the chairs placed in the corridor
Rani rested her head over Kajol's shoulder 'you were right, Shahrukh. If we have listened to you from the beginning, this wouldn't have happened' Rani said sadly
'All we need to think about now is Preity, the next days will be tough for her' Shahrukh said kindly
'yeah' Rani said barely whispering, tears going down her cheeks. She closed her eyes and surrendered to sleep
'Poor thing' Kajol said whispering and wrapped her arms around sleeping Rani, Kajol sighed 'you were the one who really knew him from the very beginning. I am sorry Shahrukh'
'I should have taken her words seriously' Shahrukh said sadly
'You did, you were trying to keep him away from me' Kajol commented then bit her lower lip in embarrassment
'It is not only you; he might have already cheated with other girls' he explained 'nothing stops him'
'We all didn't want to face her with the truth for her own sake Shahrukh, including you. Your intentions...'
'...Were good' he said interrupting and covered his face with his palms
'Yes' she said helplessly knowing that he finally saw things how she does 'I really don't know what to say'
He sighed loudly putting his hands away from his face 'I can't believe that you were so dumb to not to see that he didn't change' he said coldly and blew
'And I can't believe that you trusted mom' Kajol said coldly rolling her eyes
'Please. It is not the same thing' Shahrukh said coldly, they stayed silent for half the day, waiting near the rooms until both Shahrukh and Kajol fell asleep. The three of them were woken up by a scream coming from Preity's room. Rani ran towards the room, Kajol held Shahrukh's hand and they followed Rani.
'Get out' Preity said screaming at Saif who was standing next to her bed in his patient's gown
'What did you do to her?' Rani asked in fear
'I was just holding her hand' Saif said sadly
'Why the hell are you here?' Shahrukh asked in anger
'I don't want to see his face, take him out' Preity screamed hysterically hiding her face with her palms
'Preity, I am sorry. Please forgive me' Saif kneeled begging and tried holding her hand which made her scream louder. The nurses and a doctor finally appeared; they held Preity and sedated her
'Get out please, all of you' one of the nurses shouted, Kajol, Shahrukh and Rani went out silently and Saif was dragged out by force
'Shahrukh' Saif called and went towards him 'ask her to forgive me please, I beg of you'
'Go to your room, Saif' Shahrukh said calmly
'I am sorry Kajol; I am sorry to all of you. I know you all hate me now and you don't trust me anymore, but I swear I will be a good person. Just give me a chance' he said hysterically
'You need to calm down' Kajol said in fear of how Saif was talking
'Shahrukh, I have seen death by my own eyes' Saif said trembling and suddenly hugged Shahrukh in fear 'I have seen death by my own eyes'
'Call for the nurses... now' Shahrukh whispered to Kajol and she walked away quickly. Shahrukh was still holding of half-conscious Saif; the nurses came quickly and placed Saif to a wheel chair and took him to his room
'Are you okay?' Shahrukh flinched when Kajol placed her palm over his shoulder and asked him, he silently nodded he looked around for Rani 'Rani will stay at Preity's room. You need to be taken to your room as well' she said kindly and they just walked slowly to his room. She took his crutches, placed them near his bed and helped him lie down
'Are you sure that you are okay?' Kajol asked feeling concerned, she came closer and sat at the edge of his bed
'I have never seen him like this in my whole life. I am just a bit taken aback' Shahrukh replied calmly 'and I really feel sorry for Preity and Rani'
Kajol placed her palm over his head and played with his hair 'you were scared for him, right?' she asked kindly and he just nodded
'What should be done now with Rani and Preity?'
'I will keep an eye on Rani and Preity, don't worry' she said kindly 'you should eat, you haven't eaten anything for a long time. You need to think of yourself as well'
'I am not hungry'
She blew in anger 'Shahrukh please, I don't want you to lose your consciousness too' she said
'I swear I am not hungry. You should eat' he said advising
'No, I lost my appetite' she said feeling annoyed 'oh my god, it has been a very long difficult day' she sighed loudly
'Kajol' he whispered
'What?'
'Check the corridor please' he said fixing his eyes on the door that was ajar
'What?' she asked feeling confused. Kajol walked towards the door and opened it, walked out and checked the corridor, she walked till the end of the corridor; looked right and left but there was no one there. Kajol shook her head and walked back to Shahrukh's room
'Do the drugs they give you here cause hallucinations?' Kajol asked coldly 'or what mom said really affected you?' she continued asking coldly 'who did you see? No one is in the corridor'
Shahrukh ran his fingers through his hair 'I think I am going crazy' he said sadly
She narrowed her eyes then gasped 'You think it was her? I swear I searched well, no one was there' she said sadly
'It is okay' he said helplessly
Kajol clicked her tongue 'I am sorry, you have been through a lot lately. I am sorry for being mean' Kajol said kindly 'please don't be sad'
'Come here' Shahrukh said calmly and Kajol hugged him 'I wish we can remain like this forever' he whispered, she hugged him tightly and they kept holding each other
Kajol was woken up by the chimes of her mobile phone, she stretched her arms and checked the surroundings, she found that she fell asleep in her car. She opened her bag and kept searching for it, she finally picked up the phone.
'Where are you?' Rani asked feeling worried
'I fell asleep in my car' Kajol said rubbing her left eye
'Uncle Arjit called me; I didn't know what to say so I said we are at Preity's place' Rani said
'Oh my god, I completely forgot about that issue' she said slapping her forehead
'Why didn't you go home?'
'I didn't want to go home when you aren't there guys'
Rani blew in anger 'Fine, meet me at the cafeteria'
'Perfect, I am coming' she said and hung up. She wiped her face with her palms, put her hair up in a messy bun. She left her car and walked towards the hospital, when she reached the door; she remembered how uneasy day it is going to be. She felt that she needed a strong coffee to face that day.
'There you go' Kajol said handing Rani the cup of coffee 'You look like you didn't sleep well'
'I didn't sleep at all'
'How is she?'
'Not good at all. Whenever she wakes up, she keeps crying; finally, the doctors had to keep her sedated most of the time'
'that's bad' Kajol said sadly
'Yeah, I wish we never reached this moment. I wish I had anything in had to stop her from seeing Saif in the first place. None of this would have happened'
'Rani, what happened had happened. Don't blame yourself' Kajol said holding Rani's hand
'I wish I never pushed them to get married but it was too late, there was nothing in hand'
'You did the best thing in hand, there was nothing else to do'
'There was, her heart would be broken anyway. If I just didn't act like I believed that he has changed and kept an eye on Saif or even asked her to accept to get divorced from him; all this wouldn't have happened'
'I bet she hates me now' Kajol said looking down sadly
Rani rolled her eyes in boredom 'Kajol. I didn't say so to make you feel bad about yourself. It is not your fault'
'It is my fault, Rani; I should feel bad. I am the one who gave Saif the chance and asked him to help me; ignoring all what happened in the past. I can't believe how stupid I am. I can't forget how helpful and accepting she was when I asked for help from Saif and that night when I was at their place before Shahrukh's accident'

'Thanks darling' she said kindly and sighed 'we should tell your parents and Saif's parents as well'
'Oh gosh' Kajol said and sighed loudly 'by the way, Shahrukh is finally coming back home'
'Really? That sounds good'
'Yes. I think that will be good for Preity too; you know how he will be by her side; I am sure she won't go back with Saif after all what happened'
'Yeah. So, how is everything between you and Shahrukh so far?'
'That needs another cup of coffee. I'll go get one' Kajol said giggling
'I can't believe that I am doing this' Shahrukh said under his breath in anger, he came in as the door was ajar, smiled to the nurse coming out and headed towards Saif's bed. Saif was surprised to see Shahrukh and smiled sadly
'hey' Saif said when Shahrukh who silently scanned all the bruises on Saif's face and arms with his eyes sat down
'Did your parents find out yet?' Shahrukh finally uttered
'Not yet, but I am sure that Rani will inform everybody. It is just a matter of time' Saif said looking down and smirked then looked at Shahrukh 'look, you have all the right to say whatever you want, I am sure Kajol told you everything'
'Yes, she did' Shahrukh said coldly and sighed 'What should be done with you Saif?'
'I know you all hate me now, specially you and I won't blame anybody. Yes, I made a lot of mistakes'
'I heard that before, now I see the results of acting like we believe that it is true'
'And I am going to say it again but truly this time. I love Preity and I won't let anyone or anything let me lose her'
'Oh yeah?' Shahrukh asked sarcastically
Saif scoffed 'Make fun of me as much as you want' he said coldly
'I will, I am unforgivable person anyway' Shahrukh said and shrugged
'Shahrukh, I have seen death by my own eyes, I was conscious when everything happened. I would have got both Priety and Rani killed and I lost my baby. Don't you think that all of this changed me?'
'don't start, that performance won't affect me again' Shahrukh said coldly and stood up to leave
'Put away your anger and think about it, what would have happened if you died in that accident? Would it be easy for you? how do you think that Kajol would have felt? What about your sister? Trust me it is not an easy experience and you know that' Saif said angrily, Shahrukh stopped, looked back at Saif and sat down finally 'now you see what I see'
'I am listening' Shahrukh said calmly
'I am extremely sorry Shahrukh, for everything I have done and to each one of you. I swear I will be a better person' Saif said feeling regretful 'I just need your help my friend'
'let's talk later Saif, I will let you have rest'
'don't act like you weren't scared for me' Saif finally smiled, wickedly
Shahrukh rolled his eyes and chuckled 'I can't believe you have the energy to joke'
'I am not. I know that you came to check on me and I know that you will help me'
'I didn't, and I won't help you with anything'
'Fine, I will give you some time to calm down and we will talk later'
'I won't help you, Saif. Keep that in mind'
'Okay, but that won't stop me from trying to fix things with Preity'
'Are you sure you were fully conscious in that accident?' Shahrukh asked coldly 'don't you realize what you have done to Preity?'
'I know that I made a terrible mistake. I know I killed our baby, but I really feel guilty and ashamed of what I have done. I want to be with her and help her overcome that phase'
'Saif, you are the last person on earth that Preity would want to see'
'that's why I need your help' Saif said sadly and covered his face with his palms 'no one will be on my side anymore' he said and started sniffling
'If you really want to help her, I would advise you to really start your preparations for the divorce, the far you were from her the better her life will be' Shahrukh said wisely and stood up to leave
Saif wiped his face with his palms 'Shahrukh'
'I won't pass the whole day in your room' Shahrukh said in boredom and sighed 'now what?'
'Away from every terrible thing I have done, I really wished we would find Amira or anything that makes us sure she was okay. I know that this would cheer you up a bit. That's what Kajol was only thinking of' he said and Shahrukh nodded silently noticing Saif's teary eyes 'I am really sorry, Shahrukh. For everything, for real'
'Just take care of yourself Saif' Shahrukh said calmly and walked away
Rani chuckled 'that's crazy' she said in a surprise
Kajol sucked her tongue 'yeah'

'I don't know, and mom apologizing to Shahrukh. Please' Kajol scoffed
'Yeah, that's weird' Rani said
'I can't believe that she simply changed and realized that she was wrong' she sighed 'like Saif'
'yes' Rani said nodding
'You don't think that what happened really changed him'
'I don't know and I don't want to hear anything about him' Rani said coldly
'You should have seen him yesterday' Kajol said sadly
'Maybe he was just a little scared, he will be back to his old self in no time. He turned to be a very good actor' Rani said and blew in anger

'I am sure she will come back with us, you said that Amitabh is really sick and sooner or later they will come to see him'
'What guarantees that she is safe? For no clear reason; Shahrukh doesn't seem to be worried' Kajol said
'Maybe because there is nothing left to be done' Rani said and shrugged
Kajol clicked her tongue 'I don't know'
'Speaking about Shahrukh, shall we go check on him?'
'Okay, then he can come and we would all go to check on Preity'
'Great, let's go' Rani said and both stood up 'let him call Saif's parents and your parents, I really have no energy for these calls'
'I agree with you' Kajol said and wrapped her arm around Rani's arm then they walked in the corridors of the hospital towards Shahrukh's room
'Kajol' Kajol heard her name being called, she looked back and was surprised to see Shahrukh
'Where were you?' Rani asked
Shahrukh rolled his eyes 'I was at Saif's room, don't ask' he said, went inside his room and the girls followed him
'Did you kill him?' Kajol asked suspiciously
'Very funny' Shahrukh said with a fake smile 'unfortunately he is still alive'
'We were coming to check on you but you seem really good today' Rani said and sighed 'come on, we are here to take you with us to check on Preity'
'I don't think it is a good idea' Shahrukh said and sat down to the couch
'Why?' Rani asked raising ana eyebrow 'we all think that you being by her side will help her to easily overcome this phase' Rani scoffed and talked again 'sometimes I feel that Preity loves you more than she loves me' she said and smiled
'I don't think that Preity would love to see me as I kind of lead to all of this' Shahrukh replied calmly
'Why is everyone putting the blame on himself? If it is anyone's mistake it is Saif's. Period'
'Preity told me earlier that she feels that something has changed about Saif and she feels like he is cheating on her' Shahrukh said in embarrassment
'What?' Rani asked and sat in front of him on the couch
'that's why I was apologizing earlier' Kajol said calmly to Rani
'I thought at that time that Preity's pregnancy is what is making her think like this and acting emotional. I wish I did something at that time. I am sorry' Shahrukh said sadly
Rani rolled her eyes 'if it is Kajol or not, if you tried to stop it or not; Saif would have cheated on Preity or tried to end that marriage anyway' she said and sighed 'there is no need to talk about any mistakes or wrong decisions in the past, not because they are forgiven, but because there is nothing to do in hand. We can't change the past. All we have to do now is to take care of Preity. Let the forgiveness and moving on from everything to be her decision' she said and stood up
'You are right' Shahrukh said calmly
'Yes, we all made mistakes' Kajol said sadly
'And we all had good intentions' Rani said sadly 'we all did' Rani said looking at both of them smiling sadly 'let's go to check on Preity' she said and the three of them walked out of the room
'I hope she is feeling a little bit better now' Shahrukh said
Kajol shrugged 'let's just try to keep Saif away from her'
Rani wrapped her arms around Shahrukh and Kajol's arms 'it is not about Saif. I am not saying that she will forget all about him in a day or two, even though that I am sure that one day she will completely be over him, but it is about the baby, guys' Rani sighed and continued 'she will never forget that'
'You are right, Rani. That's tough' Shahrukh said sadly
'Shall we start looking for a therapist for her?' Kajol asked kindly
'Yeah, the earlier the better' Rani agreed
'Okay, we will start looking when we go home' Kajol said
'I won't go home; I am not leaving Preity' Rani said
'You need rest too' Shahrukh said and continued 'There is no need to worry; I am with her in the same hospital, you both should go home' he said
Rani clicked her tongue 'I don't know' she said feeling irritated
'I won't go home if none of you were there' Kajol said angrily
'Relax, I will be coming back in a couple of days' Shahrukh said
Kajol finally grinned 'I am glad' she said then cleared her throat 'shall we knock?' she asked when they reached Preity's door
Rani rolled her eyes 'come on' she said in boredom, opened the door and got in
'I pray that she isn't mad at any of us' Kajol whispered to Shahrukh then they both go inside 'you are awake' Kajol said kindly when she saw Preity
'Hey guys' Preity said with a short smile
'Hey sweetheart' Kajol said and hugged Preity, then she grabbed a chair and sat next to her bed, Shahrukh also hugged Preity and sat next to her at the edge of the bed while Rani sat at the end of the bed in front of Preity
'How are you doing today?' Shahrukh asked kindly and wrapped his arm around Preity
Preity nodded in denial 'not okay' she said calmly
'I am really sorry for your loss' Kajol said kindly holding Preity's hand
'Please take me home, I don't want to stay here for another minute. I just want to be around you guys' Preity said with teary eyes 'I don't want to meet anyone. Please ask people not to come'
'Okay, I will take you home, don't worry' Rani said reassuring and patted on her leg
'I really need to be by you guys' Preity said sadly
'We are always by your side' Shahrukh said sweetly
Preity cleared her throat 'I am sure you informed uncle Arjit and Auntie Poja about what happened'
'don't worry, they will know only what you want them to know' Rani said reassuring at once
'Not that, I mean, can you please ask them not to come to the hospital? I really have no energy for any conflicts. I don't want to discuss anything with anyone or be blamed' Preity said feeling embarrassed
'don't worry about that, I am sure that they will understand' Kajol said kindly 'all you need to think about now is your health' she added and Preity nodded calmly
'Are you okay?' Rani asked Shahrukh when he started placing his palm on his leg in pain
'Rani, will you please take him to his room. He walked a lot today' Kajol said to Rani 'I need to have a word with you' Kajol said looking back at Preity, Shahrukh and Rani stood still
Preity surprisingly smiled 'excuse us please' she said to Rani and Shahrukh. Rani slowly helped Shahrukh to stand up and they walked out of the room
Kajol took a deep breath 'I don't know if this means anything, but I am really sorry Preity; for everything. I know that this won't fix any of what happened' Kajol paused for a second 'but I really want you to know that I didn't mean to hurt you or ruin your life. All I can say to defend myself is that I was desperate for help' she said feeling guilty
'We all know that what I am going through is not easy and moving on from it won't be easy, but if someone needs to be sorry; it is me. I am the one who should feel sorry for what I did to myself' Preity said with teary eyes.

'My legs took me there' Shahrukh replied and chuckled
'You were scared for him. Am I right?' Rani asked coldly
He rolled his eyes 'Why are you asking?' he asked
She stopped and looked at him 'Shahrukh. I am tired of all of this; I have no energy for secrets or hidden stories. Just answer my question' Rani asked furiously 'what did you say to him? What did you talk about?'
'He said that the accident has changed him for real and he...'
'And you believed that?' Rani asked in disgust
'I didn't say I believed him; I am just telling you what he said' Shahrukh replied calmly
'What else did he say?'
'He said he wanted to fix things between him and Preity and he realized how much he loves her'
'Not in his wildest dreams' Rani said furiously
'Will you please calm down?' Shahrukh said angrily 'none of us will let him see her and that's what I told him. I asked him to start the divorce preparations for real this time'

'I am sure that uncle Arjit will take care of the rest of things. So, there is no need to worry or any need for revenge'
Rani sighed loudly 'let's take you to your room' she said and they walked slowly to his room. After a while Kajol joined them at Shahrukh's room

'What is the first thing you will do when you see her? What do you think the first thing she will say?' Kajol asked sweetly
Shahrukh sighed loudly 'I have no idea' he said and half smiled
'Don't you dare open the oven. It is not ready yet' Rani said firmly
'Rani. It smells ready' Kajol said whimpered and sniffed
'Smells ready? I wish life was that easy' Rani said and scoffed 'leave it alone'
'Another bouquet arrived' Anarkali said in boredom entering the kitchen

'How did you do this?' Kajol asked in amusement
'I don't know, what are you talking about?'
'My parents. They were holding hands today, just like nothing happened. What did you say to my father?'
'I have been talking to him for a while and I managed to convince him that she really means no harm anymore' he said in confidence
'Yeah, I could see that they were back to talk to each other since you came back home; but today, oh my god. It is like we were three years back' she said and chuckled in surprise

'For real. What did you do? Didn't we swear on saying everything to each other and not hide anything?'
'I happened to know personal things and problems between them and I managed to fix some misunderstandings'
'And they are...'
'All what you need to know that it has nothing to do with you. And I admit that I am not proud for knowing such personal issues. Even if you asked your father; he won't tell you. Is it clear now how sensitive stuff is it?'
'fine' Kajol said uneasily
'Trust me, there are no secrets in the future'
'I hope so' she said and sighed placing her plate on the floor, sitting next to Shahrukh and wrapping her arms around his arm 'there is only one pending matter left' she said stretching her lips sadly
Shahrukh sighed loudly 'yes' he said helplessly
'Amitabh is dead' Poja announced sadly when all were up early and gathered in the sitting room, they all stood silently knowing that they should get dressed and head to the Bachchan's house for the last look. Shahrukh and Kajol looked at each other and the same idea came to their mind "she might be there"
Their cars were finally managed to be parked in front of the Bachchan's mansion, there were a big number of cars, and people gathered inside and outside the house; all wearing white. Shahrukh looked at the house as he was walking inside with the others. He felt like it was just yesterday when he and his sister were humiliated there. Kajol held his hand; they were both knowing that it is not only Amitabh that their eyes will be spotted on.
'Abhishik' Shahrukh whispered to Kajol when he saw him sitting on the floor and doing the rituals
'Shahrukh, we need to be seated now for the rituals. You won't ask him now for anything' Kajol whispered firmly 'we have a long day ahead' she said and he walked with her silently. They stayed for a while then they all walked out and rode their cars to head to the cremation site. The mourners gathered in a big circle around the body as it was placed on the funeral pyre. The fire was lit to the dead body freeing his soul to another world; while everyone witnessed in silent and respect.
Along with the flames and the dead body; Shahrukh's hope of finding his sister died as well. He pulled himself out of the crowd and walked away. He heard footsteps following him, he knew that it was Kajol, he looked back at her and saw her coming towards him calmly. He sighed and looked away sadly, he stood like that for a few seconds waiting for Kajol to join him but she didn't come any closer, he looked back at her and saw that she was not looking his way, she was looking away and fixing her eye on something that made her froze. He looked where she is looking and just stood still as well; feeling like he has no control on his legs to move. He just witnessed her coming to their way wearing white, there she was; his sister.
