I look up from looking at my shoes and my moms eyes were beginning to water.
"Are you serious?" My mom said with a shaky tone in her voice. I stood up straight as I was sitting up.
"Yes," I say in the bravest manner that I could. My mom was looking at the ground, looking at both of her feet and she looked up at me, "Why can't you just go to college in Australia?" I then begin to shake my head and began to speak,
"To many distractions. I wouldn't be able to pass my classes. High school is the "easy version," of college. College is more strict." My mom placed her head in her hands and began to sob. I got off the bed and walked to her and hugged her tight, "I'll see you later," I then give her a kiss on cheek and began to walk out of the room.
Sure, call me an asshole for leaving my mother who is unstable and is crying her eyes out but aye, she left me crying as she hurt me and left me crying, i'm not going to stay with my mom when she crys when I have a future ahead of me.
I then walked the counter and began to sign out of the 'guest booklet,' and looked up at the lady and gave her a small smile.
"Did you make sure that she is getting extra care correct?" I said as I cocked my head to the side an she began to smile and nodded her head.
"Yes, miss. The extra care patients are writing and reading about their habits and what not. We do have a very good program," I smiled. At least my mother is getting treated.
"Thank you ma'am, have a good day," I say with the warmest smile and I begin to walk out of the clinic to my car. I began to seat myself in the driver seat while placing my forehead on the steering wheel, placing my hand and gripping on it with my fingers wrapped around it. I leaned my head back and I began to scream, hitting the sides of the steering wheel and placed my face in my hands and began to sob. I begin to whip my tears and I start to place the key in the slot and turned it and began to drive out of the parking lot.
Now to my father's house. I then start driving, making sure I'm on the right street to get to my fathers house. I turn the corner and I begin driving straight and slow down. I then turn into the driveway and turned off my car. I then began to look in the mirror, seeing if my makeup was ruined. A little bit. I then zipped up the hoodie all the way and I parted my hair on each side of me so I can hide my 'love marks,' Calum gave me. I began to walk to the front door and began ringing the door bell. As the door opened, It was Marilyn. She is beginning to show a little bit. She then smiled at me and gave me a hug.
"Hazel! Come in!" I then hug back and walk myself inside and walk to the living room on the left, placing myself onto the sofa.
"I'll go and get your father," Marylin said as she began walking out of the living room, all the way upstairs. I began to wait patiently and I seen I received text messages from Calum.
Calum❤: Hey babe
Calum❤: Where are you, I miss you
Calum❤: Please message me, you are worrying me.
I then was about to answer until my father walked into the room. He was smiling wide and had his arms out wide. I then smiled and hugged him tight. We began to sit down on the sofa and he started the conversation.
"I missed you, what have you been up too?" My dad says as he leans forward. I then began to speak and smile back at him.
"I missed you too, I've actually went to Ireland for a week with my friends. We went to see my friend's ashton's grandmother." His eyes widen and smiled. "Oh yeah? How was that?" "It was good, it was beautiful in ireland. I took pictures," I said as I smiled wide.
"That's good, I'm glad you enjoyed it there." My dad smiled back at me and I think it was finally time to tell my father about Calum.
"I also have something else to tell you," his eyebrows rose up, "oh yeah? What?" He then sits back on the couch across from me. I then find the words to say, " I... I have a boyfriend," I look up at him and he has a slight smile.
"Does he make you happy?" I nod my head slowly and he smiles wider. "That's good, if he didn't, I would have to go after him," we both started laughing, "what is his name?" He says as he cocks his head to the side. I see where I get it from.
"Calum Hood," as I said his name, heat ran up my cheeks, I know I was blushing hard. His smile never left his face, "I'm -," My dad was interrupted by a phone call coming from my phone. "Will you excuse me dad," he nods his head and I take my phone from the side of me on. Calum was calling. I then answer is.
"Hello?" I say as I sound confused
"Hey babe, where are you," Calum says in an exciting manner.
"Who is it?" My dad says as he walks to go to the kitchen.
"It's Calum," I yell so he can hear me.
"Tell him to come over, I want to meet him," My dad says as he throws me a juice pouch while he has a glass of pop walking back to the couch across from me.
"Calum, where are you right now?" I say as I bring the phone back to my ear. He was silent for a couple seconds. For at least a minute.
"I'm at my house," He says with different tone in his voice.
"I will come and get you, I love you," I say then my dad i interrupted. "AWWWW YOU TWO ARE SUCH LOVE BIRDS," I started laughing and hung up the phone.
Calum's POV
As I got off the phone with Hazel, I began to feel a little jealous, I heard that guy in the background. Who was he? Is Hazel trying to replace me? I started to shake my head. No, I don't think she would ever do that. I began to think about it more, and I began to feel jealous and heartbroken. I head downstairs where my sister mali was, she was on her laptop and looked up in confusion. She knew there was something wrong.
"Calum, what's wrong?" She says as she sets aside her laptop. I sat next to her and looked at her, "it's hazel, I heard another guy on the end of the phone and I'm a little jealous." Her eyes widen and she then punched me in the shoulder, "Calum, you are worrying much." She sighs and puts her hand on my shoulder, "Look, she wouldn't hurt you at all. She seemed really into you, why would she mess all that up?" I smiled and nodded my head. We continued to talk until Hazel came to get me.
Hazel's POV
I got off the phone with Calum, his tone of voice changed out of know where. I don't understand.
"Hey, do you mind if I can sleepover, mom still isn't home and I don't wanna be alone," I said as I was looking at my dad. He smiled and began to speak, "of course you can, as you were gone, we bought furniture for your new room. Hopefully you will like the things in there, Marilyn helped me. I'm not good with girl things," he then began to laugh which made me laugh, "ok, I'll be back," I then walk out of the front door and I began to head towards my car. I turned the key and I began to drive to my house before picking up Calum.
As I made it to my house, I parked my car in the driveway, and I unlocked the front door with my key and I got inside and locked the door, I then went upstairs and grabbed pajamas and another set of cloths. I then grabbed my perfumes, and lotions. I then walk to the bathroom and grab my makeup and my hair soaps and conditioner and body soaps. I then went to my room and grabbed my college books so I can study.
I began to walk downstairs and I started to head out of the door, and started to walk to my car. Seating myself in, placing my bag of things in the back seat and buckling my seatbelt on and backing out of the driveway. I then started to drive towards Calum's house. I began calling his phone.

Then I hear the phone rumbling on the other side of the line and I heard Calum's voice which made me happy.
"Hello?" He says with the same manner that he talked to me with before.
"Hey, I'm coming to your house now," I say as I have the phone held with my left hand, and my right hand on the steering wheel.
"Ok...?" Calum says with a confused annoyed manner. I sigh.
"Calum Thomas Hood, what is wrong?" I say as I turn a corner and drive straight.
"Nothing is wrong," He says in a slow manner.
"Well there is something wrong because you called me earlier, excited to see me...." There was a slight pause on the other line.
"At least I am not talking to anyone else but you," Calum says in a angry tone. Wait... Does he think??
"Calum Hood, I'm near your house now." I then hang up the phone, in frustration. I shake my head. One more block and I'm there.
Calum's POV
There was a click on the phone. I then placed the phone on my lap. Why am I treating her this way? Why am I acting so childish? I then hear a beep outside of my house, I then go to the kitchen, finding my mom cooking, I walk in, an she turns around. I kiss her on the cheek and hug her tight, "I'll be home later ma, I love you,"
"And I love you," She says with her biggest smile and turns her back towards me and continues cooking, I then grab my jacket and head outside, closing the door behind me and walking to Hazel's car. As I get closer I notice she is still wearing my hoodie."
Hazel's POV
As Calum got closer to my car, I unlocked the door and he slide himself inside and buckled his seatbelt. I then begin to look at him, while he was looking the opposite way, he finally notices I'm staring and looks over my way.
"What's wrong," I said again. He shrugs his shoulders. I sigh loudly and place the key into the ignition and begin driving. I begin to play with my hair with my left hand, parting it again as I am driving.
As I turn a corner, Calum begins to speak. "I... I felt a little jealous...." I then pull over and I begin to look at him, while he looks the other way-out the window. "Jealous of what?" I said in an annoyed manner. "I was jealous that the fact there was another guy with you," Calum snaps back at me. I pause for a moment and begin laughing. He then looks over my way, giving me a 'Da fuck,' stare. I shake my head and start giggling. "Calum Hood, are you jealous of my father?" I then begin laughing and I continue to drive. I look over at Calum and he is scarlet red! HA!
"I didn't know Hazel," He said as softly as he could. I then stopped at a stop light and I leaned over and turned his head with my finger. His big brown eyes were beginning to water. I then close my eyes and lean forward, kissing his lips slowly. I then begin to giggle and bite his bottom lip, he groans softly and I pull away. I then begin laughing and I look at the light and it turned green. I began to look both ways and started to drive forward.
As I was driving, I kept my right hand onto the steering wheel, grabbed Calum's hand that was resting on the arm rest, with my left. I glance over at him and give him a warm smile. He smiles back, gripping on my hand.
We pulled up to my father's house. I turn off my car and take the key out of the ignition and grab my bag of things in the back. I then look over at
Calum and smile.
"Are you ready to meet my father?" He nods his head and I smile at him, he leans over my way and he starts to kiss my lips with passion, placing his hand on the side of my face, licking my bottom lip. I then begin to giggle, and break away from the kiss. "Come on, I want you to meet him." I then unlock the car and get out of my car. Waiting for Calum to walk with me. I lock the car with my remote and I walk with Calum to the front door. Half way there, Calum takes my bags out of my hand and begins to hold them. I then begin to blush and place both parts of my hair onto eachside of me, so my marks will not show. I then begin to ring the doorbell and the door opens within 30 seconds. My dad was behind the door and smiled at both of us.
"You must be the lucky man, come in, both of you." My dad says in excitement. I then begin blushing and walk in with Calum behind me. I turn to look at them both, and Calum looks super nervous awww!
He then drops the bags near his sides and starts to bring his hand out. "Nice to meet you Mr. Miller," Calum says as brave as he could.
"Nice to meet you too Calum, Hazel told you alot about you. Says you keep her happy and how you mean alot to her." Calum then starts to smile wide and chuckles a little bit. "Well she's the best I've ever had," Calum says as he looks my way, I couldn't help but to look away and smile.
"Well come on, Hazel, if you want go take your things to your room so you can see your room." I nod my head then Calum interrupts " I can take her bags up to her room, where is her room?" He picks up the bags and smiles at my father. My father smiles and explains, "up the stairs, turn to the right," Calum nods his head and passed by me, winking at me. I then start to watch him go upstairs and my dad goes into the living room and I followed him, "He seems like a wonderful guy," my dad says as he sits down, "just make sure he doesn't hurt you," I then started to smile. "He is a good guy dad," I said as I started to giggle. Calum then came back down and headed into the living room.
He placed himself right next to me smiling at both of us. Marilyn comes out with a tray of cookies and tea, she then heads back into the kitchen. We all take a cookie and eat it. My dad eats the bite of cookie he had then swallows and looks at me, "So, Calum, how did you meet Hazel?"
Calum takes a sip of his tea and places it back onto his tea plate. "Well, I met her when I was 6, and she was 7. She looked sad and I became her friend. Ever since this year, we were friends ever since. Until April 12th, which was the happiest day of my life."
I begin to look at Calum and he began to smile, and grabbed my hand. I looked up at my father and he smiled.
"Well, what do you do Calum?" My dad says as he drinks his tea, Calum's hand grips mine and he begins to speak, "Well, I do play football, but I am also in a band," my father's eyes widen and came to a straight line. Oh no. "Well, what do you play?" My father says in confusion, but had a little concern in his voice.
"Well... I play alot. In the band, play the bass." I could tell in the tone of Calum's voice he was nervous. The smile came back to my father's lips.
"Do well, hopefully you will go far with your band," He says while smiling wide and eating a bite out of his cookie.
I looked at Calum and he was smiling. He looks my way and smiles wider. I then look back at my dad.
"Dad, do you mind if he can stay for dinner?" I said with my eyes widen while poking my lip out.
He started laughing and nods his head, "yes he can stay for dinner, I'll be right back," He said as he walks to the kitchen, Calum then comes close to me and kisses my cheek.
"What was that for?" I said as I started giggling. He began to smile and held my hand close to him, "Your father is a nice guy. You're more like him then you're mother. It's just hard to tell if he approves or not." I then began to think about it. I was like my father more than my mother. I was happy about it. I wouldn't want to be like my mother. Sure, in a crazy psychotic way, I am like her but I cannot change that. I looked back at Calum and he started to chuckle, I bit my lip and gave him a kiss on the lips quick, "I love you. I think he will approve." I say as I take a sip of my tea and another bite of my cookie. Calum shrugs his shoulders, "I don't know, it's hard to say whether he likes me or not." I pushed Calum slightly and began to smile, "come on, don't think like that, just give it time."
My father walked out of the kitchen with more snacks. He placed them onto the tray and handed each of us a snack. He then looked at Calum and smiled, "I forgot to ask you, what are your grades right now?" He says as he takes a bite out of his snack. Calum also took a bite and began to think. "They're A's and B's I believe," Calum says with a smile. My father nods his head and begins to speak again. "Tell me, what are your plans after highschool?" My father said as he cocked his head to the side. Calum then stood up straight and began to smile, "I think I will join the football team here, in Australia." I began staring at Calum and smiled. He is a wonderful guy and I'm glad that he's mine.
My dad smiled even wider and nodded his head, "that's good, it seems like you are the right guy for my daughter after all." We were then interrupted by my step-mother, Marilyn, who was in the kitchen.
"Hazel, may you please help me set the table in the dining room please?" She says as she leans her head out of the doorway. "Yes I may," I said smiling at my father and Calum as I walk away. I then begin to head into the kitchen where it smelled delightful. I then remembered I don't know where they keep their things here.
"Marilyn, where do you keep the silverware?" I said in confusion. She begins to laugh and points, "right drawer, near the sink." I then walked over to the sink, and on the right of it, I opened the drawer and there it was. The silverware. I then began to grab out as much as I could and went into the other room, which was the dining room. Marilyn walked behind me, setting down the main dish in the middle and began to come close to me and whisper, "oh, your boyfriend is such a cutie," She says and begins to giggles and I, begin to feel the heat rush to my cheeks. "Thank you," I said as I bite my lip. We both headed back to the kitchen and grabbed the rest of the things for the dining table.
Calum's POV
After Hazel left, her father was looking at me, with a serious stare. He leans over a little bit and begins to speak softly. "I want you to never hurt her. She is my daughter and even though I wasn't there for her all her life, now is the time I am. I love her dearly and I will do anything, and I mean ANYTHING, to protect her. Please, don't break her heart." He then sits up straight on the other side of the couch and I began to softly talk also. "I don't ever plan on hurting her sir, she is very special to me and I love her with all my heart. I honestly never felt this way towards anyone before." I say and I begin to take the teapot and pour more tea in my cup, and began to drink some. Hazel's dad smiled at me and nodded his head, "that's what I like to hear," he says and I begin to smile back. I then set my cup down and look at him.
"So, what do you do?" I said in a polite manner. He smiled and took another cookie, "I am a 'Social Studies' teacher, at a middle school," I nodded my head and smiled, "what are you teaching your students now?" He takes a bite out of his cookie and begins to speak, "I am teaching them World History." I then began to smile and I grabbed another cookie, I began to eat it. Him and I talked until it was time for dinner.
Hazel's POV
I wonder what they are talking about right about now. I then set the cups where the plates were placed and I noticed that we were finished making the table, now it's time to get them. I then walked out of the dining room, into the room we first came in, and walked into the living room where they were laughing and having a good time.
"Dinner is ready," I said with a big smile on my face. My dad nodded my head and began to walk near me and smiled, "thank you Hazel," I nodded my head and as he walked away, Calum then took my hand and moved me away from the dining room door way and began to kiss me slowly and began to whisper in my ear, which made me bite my lip a little bit. "I think he approves," I then began to giggle and kisses him on the lips lightly and took his hand, we walked into the dining room and we began to sat across from eachother. In the middle of the table was Chicken, Mashed Potatoes with gravy, Green beans, Mexican Rice and Carrots. All of it looked delicious! We all began to make ourselves a plate by taking the dishes and places them back into the middle.
After awhile, we all began to eat, laugh and talk as we were at the dinner table. The dinner was now and over with and I had to go take Calum home. I then grabbed his jacket and he kissed my cheek and I began to giggle. My dad met us near the front door and smiled at Calum and shook his hand, "I'm glad I finally met you. You are welcome to stop by when she is over here. We can all have a wonderful time like we did tonight." "Thank you sir, I'm glad that you enjoy my company," Calum gives my father a firm hand shake and smiles at him. He then heads out the door and I smile at my dad before I leave, "I'll be back," As I was about to head out the front door, my dad stops me quick. "Hold on," He then goes to his pocket and pulls out a key. "Here, if the door is locked, you can use that to open it. This key is yours." I then smile at him and nod my head, I give him a big hug and begin walking out of the door. I then use my car remote to start and unlock the door. Calum then gets in the car and I look back and see my dad in the doorway smiling. I smiled back and I began to go into the driver seat.
I placed the key into the ignition and I began driving. I then looked at Calum and smiled, "Now, both of my parents approve of you," I said in an exciting manner. I glance at him and I see him smiling in the dark. "I'm happy too, now I have no one and nothing to worry about now." I begin to bite my lip and kept my eyes onto the road.
The ride was pretty quiet, but it was peaceful. I pulled up to Calum's house and I stopped the car, I kept my eyes on the steering wheel. I didn't know what else to do, I mean he is my first love. As I was about to talk, he leaned over and kissed my cheek softly. I began to place my hand on the left side where he kissed me and smiled. I then looked over at him and pulled him close to me with the collar of his shirt and kissed him on the lips with passion. We both stopped kissing and we began to place our foreheads together. He kissed me on the lips again and got out of the car. He then walked over to the driver side and I rolled my window down, resting my elbow on the window frame.
"Can you call me later? I wanna hear your voice..." Calum says slowly. I then nodded my head and smiled. He smiled wider and kissed my cheek and ran to his front door, he knocked on the door and his mom, Joy, opened the door. He then hugged her and she looked out and seen me and waved. I then smiled, waved back, and beeped. I then seen Joy push him inside the house and came walking to my car. I then began to get out of the car and I gave Joy a big hug and she did the same.
We both let go and she then smiled at me.
"Finally you two made it official!" Joy said. We then began to laugh and I nodded my head and leaned against the car, "yeah, it's because i'm focused on school but my feelings grew even stronger and when he asked me to be his I couldn't help say yes." I felt the heat run to my cheeks. Yup. Must be blushing, in the dark sky. "I'm happy for you two, if he does hurt you though, let me know, so you can let me at him," Joy then put her hands into a fist which made me laugh. She then smiled and began to lean on my car with me, which made both of us face their house. "So, how's your mom?" She asks while looking at me. Fake smile time. I then began to "smile," and answered her. "She's doing good, I just seen her at the house earlier. I'm at my father's house now. After 11 years He finally was able to contact me." Joy looked shocked and began to hug me, I believe for comfort. She then let go and began to smile at me, "Well don't be a stranger Hazel, I don't want my future daughter-in-law to be distant from the Hood Family." I then began to laugh and felt the heat rise again.
"I won't I promise, I'll start coming here more often, it's just I always study." "I understand," Joy said with a big smile on her face. I then gave Joy one last hug and I got into my car. I watched her go to the front door of the house and wave to me. When she opened the door, CALUM WAS STANDING BEHIND IT and he held his face. From my understanding, he must have gotten hit from the door. I began to laugh and drove home.
As I was on my way to my father's house, I noticed that I have never seen my room when I got there. I then looked at my phone and it was 11:00PM. I decided to speed up.
I made it home without any police pulling me over, which was a good thing. I pulled into my father's drive way and turned off my car. I walked to the front door and it was locked. I pulled out the key that my father gave me and unlocked the door. The lights were off except the main room lights. I locked the door behind me and decided to head upstairs.
I made it to my room and I opened the door and turned on the light and it was extremely beautiful. I went to my bed and placed my bags on the side of my nightstand and began to lie down into the comfortable bed. I then began to remember I needed to call Calum! I got out of my bed and pulled out my phone from his hoodie, which I forgot I was wearing and began to call him. As I was waiting for the rings to start, I turned off the light and made my way to the bed.

As I was about to hang up the phone, there were no more. I then heard rumbling with the phone and heard a tired voice on the other line which was extremely sexy.
"Hello?" Calum says in a tired manner
"I'm sorry did I wake you?" I said in a whisper, so I wouldn't wake my dad or step- mom up.
"Yes, but it was worth it. I was expecting the call anyways." I began to bite my lip and couldn't help but smile.
"I miss you already Haze," Calum says in his tired voice and begins to yawn.
"I miss you too Calum," I said slightly, closing my eyes.
"This might be weird, but can we sleep on the phone?" Calum says in a soft manner. I couldn't help but to blush even more. I began to smile, "Sure," I said. He then started to laugh slightly. "I love you babe, goodnight," He said to me. "Goodnight Calum, I love you too." I left the phone on speaker, turning my back towards the phone, leaving it under my pillow and I began to fall asleep.
