It was once again a successful night for Jiang's diner. The employee was surprised with their revenue, as was the Jiangs. Tonight they brought in seven thousand taels, it was their highest revenue yet. The employees that had yet to have a position were looking at their boss eagerly.
"Okay gather around everyone, I will be assigning more positions from what I've observed tonight."
"Jin Ki, quick and efficient manners, Runner"

"I know some of you ended up with positions you didn't expect, but I gave each position based on tonight's evaluation. I will continue evaluating you guys and will change you if that position truly doesn't fit you." Tang Shushui explained, unexpectedly warming the heart of his workers.
"Manager Qing and assistant manager Lie, I will leave the task of hiring fifty employees, and thirty-five workers in your hands. All the chefs will have to come to work two hours earlier since you will need extra training. You don't have to worry about breakfast, you will be served breakfast and will be able to clean yourselves here." Tang Shushui instructed.
"Not to be rude boss, but may I know why the need for thirty-five workers?" Li Shi Qing questioned politely slightly confused.
"Well, most of you live a little far away from work, so I will be building a dormitory here." Tang Shushui responded.
"Dormitory?" The employees asked confused.
"Yes, a dormitory. If you want you can live there and bring your family there to live with you. You will each be given a room depending on your situation, for example how many family members you bring. You will be fed and clothed, so will your family members. There will be some sets of rules you will have to follow. I'm doing this not because I'm nice, but because once I accept you, your one of my people and of course will be treated with cordiality but once you betray me your life will be worst than death." Tang Shushui explained as his tone went cold in his last sentence, making his employees shiver.
"We understand madam, and we thank you." The employees bowed as they thanked their employer. They were smart enough to know that their boss was very reasonable. They all looked at each other and thought the same thing, only stupid people would betray their boss and leave such a life behind because of greediness. They came from the lowest of the low and now they suddenly had jobs and a home to stay in, so why would they betray their master for some coins. Some of them were scorned by their village, some of them were forced to flee the place they once called home and some of them were betrayed by their closest person, so how could they betray the person who reached out their hand and helped them?
"It's good that you understand. I know some of you might get approached and even threatened, that's why I hired bodyguards to help you in these situations. If something like that ever happens you can directly tell me, Haoyu, the manager or assistant manager." Tang Shushuis said understandingly.
"Thank you, boss!" The employees once again said in unison.
"Okay, okay, go freshen up and go home. I will leave the responsibility of closing the restaurant in the hands of the manager, may you all have a good night." Tang Shushui said as he picked up his bag and went out of the restaurant.
It was only five when they closed the restaurant so it was still pretty sunny outside. When Tang Shushui came outside he attracted a lot of attraction, partly because of his clothes and partly because of his beauty. There were many whispers as he made his way out of town.
'Isn't that Jiang's Diner's owner?' A woman asked as she whispered.
'Yeah, he is. I heard he was very beautiful.' Another woman whispered back.
'I heard even rich people go eat there.' A ger said wanting to join the gossip
'What rich person? Probably some small merchant' A middle-aged disdainfully snorted
'No! I saw madam Ye and his children go there with my own two eyes.' Another man retorted making the people around widen their eyes.
Immediately after that sentence, the gossip exploded. Who in this town didn't know of madam Ye? Madam Ye was the daughter of one of the richest merchants of this empire. Though birthed by a concubine she was the apple of both Lord Lu's and the main wife, Fang Jing eyes. Out of all the three concubines of Lord Lu only the mother of Madam Ye, Qiang Yan was greatly favored by Madam Lu, if somebody dared to offend concubine Yan, Madam Lu wouldn't even wait for Lord Lu and would take revenge herself. Though people made some speculations they never voiced their thoughts.
Madam Ye was raised with love and care, but who would've thought she'd fall in love with an average scholar? Despite her parents' opposition she decided to marry the scholar only to be humiliated later, but this made people praise the intelligence of Lord Lu.
Lord Lu went and found a rare treasure and brought it to the emperor. The emperor then said he'd grant any wish that Lord Lu wanted. Lord Lu said he knew that divorce was looked down upon but he couldn't help but worry about his daughter who was marrying someone who was mostly in the marriage because of the money and dowry of his daughter. He would like his majesty to make a decree that if his daughter was to ever divorce it would be a happy divorce, meaning that his daughter would escape shame and would be able to remarry without problems.
This request made the nobles look done upon merchants even more, but two years later they were praising him. The average scholar took in two concubines and even had an illegitimate child he was raising outside. It was obvious that the scholar had no future as an official but his parents were still going around bragging and using Madam Ye's dowry to live lavishly. This made many officials and nobles who loved their daughters nervous so they went and pleaded with the emperor until the emperor passed a new law where the woman and the man could have a happy divorce if the man or the woman were to treat each other horribly.
Though this rule mostly worked for the rich, many people were thankful to Lord Lu for bringing up the matter. Scholar Ye became every gossipmonger's target ever since then but Madam Ye always tried to protect his reputation, but her kindness was always repaid with some sort of embarrassment, but today people heard there was a huge fight over at the Ye mansion. They were waiting to see what was going to happen next.
