What's up everyone it's Mario and Sonic fanboy and today we're doing another top 5 matchups I want to see in Death Battle season 9. If you haven't seen part one check it out it's about two chapters away. And like last time this is all simply my opinion but anyways let's get to the list.
5. Tanjiro Kamado VS Hyakkimaru (Demon Slayer VS Dororo)
With Tanjiro being confirmed at first I thought his matchup was going to be the premiere because in the past Miles Morales and Yoda were revealed first and they ended up being the premiere but that's not the case here. Now before we get on let's go over the other matchups. Tanjiro VS Jonathan is a popular request I've seen and while I understand the connections, there are some things about it that are either half right or a bit wrong, especially when you compare how they started their lives, goals, and especially the siblings. Jonathan has everything, while Tanjiro didn't, Jonathan simply wanted to be a true gentleman and defeat Dio and try to reform him whereas Tanjiro didn't have any goal as he's happy the life he has despite being poor it was only until after his family was killed by a demon and when Nezuko turned into a demon that he had a goal, and finally the siblings part, Dio isn't really cursed sure he became a vampire but that's because he CHOOSE to become a vampire so I wouldn't consider it cursed because he willingly chose to become a vampire so I don't thing that counts that's like say a woman was raped because she chose to when in reality it isn't really rape because she chose to have sex with the appropriate rapist and wasn't forced to do it. On top of that even before that Dio was a psychopath, dude legit was the equivalent of convicted serial killers with an abusive past and have a hobby of killing animals and bullying people including his own family and he never loved Jonathan and showed no remorse after his death and was the main antagonist of the entire series, meanwhile Nezuko not only loved Tanjiro but she didn't choose to become a demon, she was forced to be one and had no choice, and showed legit remorse for when Tanjiro is in danger and for his supposed death at the hands of Muzan, also she's the deuteragonist of the series for those of you who don't know the deuteragonist is the second most importance of the story next to the main protagonist, something that Dio is not. Other than that though the connections of both kind-hearted guys with tragic past of losing their family and fight monsters who are weak to the sun, and have the powers of the sun, and their bloodline lives on. Edward VS Tanjiro is definitely interesting and has potential. However I think Hyakkimaru makes sense because not only does he have more connections with Tanjiro but he's more of a mirror/clone of Tanjiro than Jonathan ever was also it's a very unique fight even more so than Edward but anyways let's get on to the connections.
The connections between both Tanjiro and Hyakkimaru is that their both teenagers who live in an ancient era of Japan before the modern era (Taisho era and Sengoku era) who lived terrible lives from the start since they were born (Tanjiro was poor and Hyakkimaru was abandoned) both suffered tragic lives which caused them to become demon slayers while being accompanied by a little sister companion (Nezuko Kamado and Dororo) who share a similar tragedy like them (Nezuko was turned into a demon and her whole family was killed by Muzan Kibutsuji and Dororo lost his parents who were killed by Daigo Samurai forces) this forcing them to go on a journey with the people the considered brothers to avenge them. Both are known for slaying demons with goals that involve restoring humanity, getting the human body back, and turning suck into a human (Tanjiro wants to turn Nezuko back into a human and Hyakkimaru wants to get his original body back) and have unique abilities with their swords (Breathing and demonic limbs) both their families also have some sort connections with the Demons they were hunted in their life (Kamado family and Daigo family, respectively) and vows to get revenge on the main villains who caused them and their family pain and suffering (Muzan Kibutsuji and Kagemitsu Daigo, respectively). Both also have anime adaptations that aired in 2019.
So yeah Tanjiro is definitely Hyakkimaru in terms of settings and characters themselves. But with the connections out of the way time to see who wins. Tanjiro wins this no problem. While this is a very close match Hyakkimaru definitely had more experience and training than Tanjiro and was definitely more skilled than him so he could use those advantages to win in most ways but Tanjiro wins this more often than not. First off Tanjiro is more versatile when it comes to his abilities like Water Breathing and especially his most deadliest Hinokami Kagura (also known as Sun Breathing) so he can easily use these form to overwhelm Hyakkimaru. And while Hyakkimaru has been born blonde which gives him Soul Sight which can let him see and detect his opponents Tanjiro's Demon Slayer Mark which let's him use Transparent World can do basically the same thing. So that's one thing he can counter as well as his other limb abilities.
Even with all his limb abilities Hyakkimaru's abilities aren't as destructive as Tanjiro's. And lastly feats. Hyakkimaru can move faster than the ordinary eye can see which is about 60 frames per second and Hyakkimaru can move faster than that in about 5 seconds this means Hyakkimaru can move up to Mach 37, which is impressive but Tanjiro can move WAY faster than that, he scales to Zenitsu who blitz lightning.

Looking at the calculations I've shown this means Zenitsu must've moved at Mach 1830 that's 49 times faster than Hyakkimaru so Tanjiro definitely speed blitz this giving Hyakkimaru a hard time trying to keep up and Tanjiro can stop him from landing attacks. Even if Hyakkimaru can keep up with Tanjiro (if we equalized their speed) Tanjiro has survived multiple attacks from Muzan who at the very least is Multi-City Block level while Hyakkimaru can take hits from foes who are at least Multi-Building level, so not only will Hyakkimaru have a hard time trying to keep up but he'll also have a hard time trying to land a fatal blow. Hyakkimaru will hold his own but Tanjiro had the strength, speed, durability, and breathing abilities will give him the means to take the W in the end. Hyakkimaru got Tanjir-owned. It will be ashamed if this fight doesn't happen and knowing Death Battle it probably won't happen due to least popularity. I sure hope I'm wrong about this and it does happen as least popular characters have appeared before despite the request for more popular characters but until then I'm betting that this won't happen.
4. Azula VS Dabi (Avatar VS My Hero Academia)
Now this one matchup is interesting in my opinion though not most people agree and there are some claims about this fight I want to debunk: Fist claim is that it's bad because it's basically a evil sibling version of Zuko VS Shoto going off of that logic that means Luigi VS Tails is bad because it's basically Mario VS Sonic but sidekicks, that means Darth Vader VS Obito is bad because it's basically the bad guy version of Obi-Wan VS Kakashi, that also means that Palpatine VS Xehanort is bad because it's the dark side version of Yoda VS King Mickey. I can go on and on going off of that logic. Second it's a repeat it's not true because for one the roles are basically reversed because both have blue fire Azula has 2 elements while Dabi has one and Dabi literally burns himself whenever he uses his Quirk and I don't see the outcome being the same that much because I can totally see them making Azula win also according to that logic that means Madara VS Aizen is bad because they both have Chakra an Reiatsu which is something that Naruto VS Ichigo has outside of illusions, and as for terrible them or concept it's literally both about two psychopathic evil siblings who tried to get the attention of one parent but failed due to them playing favorites with the sibling so I don't see anything wrong with this sure I can understand matchups like Azula VS Cinder Fall but other than that there are many differences that separates it from Zuko VS Shoto. But anyways let's get into the connections.
The connections between Azula and Dabi is that their both evil psychopaths who are intelligent yet have anger problems and can generate blue flames, both are the siblings of good brothers with scars on the left side of their faces (Zuko and Shoto Todoroki, respectively), both have a deep hatred towards their parents for not loving them enough and playing favorites with their other siblings (Ursa and Endeavor respectively) which caused them to be who they are today, both grew up in upper class families that houses evil and abusive father, caring mothers who disappeared from their lives, normal siblings, and scared siblings, on top of that both have also tried to attack the hero siblings while they were still young (Azula kidnapped her half sister Kiyi and Dabi tried to burn Shoto when he was a new born baby), both used to be in the father's favorite until they rejected them causing them to be emotionally and mentally insane. Both are also apart of villain organizations (Fire Nation and League of Villains, respectively). And finally both despite their biggest hardships deep down all they really wanted was love which was something they could never understand due to the poorly parenting jobs.
Now let's go on to see who wins. Unlike Zuko and Shoto, this fight is much closer than what people probably think, Azula definitely had way more experience and training than Dabi on top of that Azula has better control over fire as she doesn't burn herself unlike Dabi when she uses her flames, is much more intelligent able to think her way around the battlefield even fought without bending, is much faster and more agile than Dabi and finally her lightning is super deadly so she could give Dabi a hard time unlike Shoto who simply had to spam ice and take advantage of his weakness. However despite those advantages Dabi take this win more times than not Azula may have more control over fire Dabi's fire as shown previously with Zuko VS Shoto who they should scale above due to having much hotter flames
And as for raw power Dabi's flames can be huge and we're able to clash with Shoto's own ice which have been shown to cover towns, forests, and an entire stadium and Dabi was able to clash with that ice glacier and even fought a similar ice villain named Geten, even with Sozin's Comet which would allow her to do similar feats they still fall in comparison to what Dabi can do. Also it's important to note that Azula's lightning is not really a literal instant kill move as several Avatar characters in both Aang and Korra's times have survived lightning attacks before the same goes with My Hero Academia characters sure it can heavily injure them but it's not really going to kill them. Anyways Azula's martial arts, intelligence, speed, better fire control, and lightning range techniques would definitely help her win in many ways and can definitely take advantage of Dabi's weakness like she did with her other opponents but Dabi's strength, raw power, durability, destructive capabilities, and hotter flames would give her the win. If this fight does happen I can totally see them making Azula win in some way which I can understand it's a lot closer than people think but I think Dabi could take this but that's just me.
3. Hiccup and Toothless VS Hiro and Baymax (How to Train Your Dragon VS Big Hero 6)
It's been a while since we have a 2 v 2 team battle (at least as far as to my knowledge) this one is a pretty great matchup that I think people would love to see. So anyways let's get to the connections.
The connections between Hiccup & Toothless and Hiro & Baymax is that both teams are two of the most iconic flying duos in rivaling animation movie studios (Dreamworks and Disney, respectively) where the human companion starts off in a normal life but not so great (Hiccup was outcast on Berk and Hiro despite graduating High School early but got in trouble with the law) both also have a non-human companion who is the mascot of their series (Toothless and Baymax, respectively) both also tragically lost their members of their families (Stoick the Vast and Tadashi Hamada, respectively) at the hands of major villains (Drago Bludvist and Robert Callaghan, respectively) both teams are also the leader of their hero teams (Dragon Riders and Big Hero 6, respectively).
Now let's go on to see who wins this one is a tough one but ultimately I think Hiccup and Toothless wins this. They are much faster than Hiro and Baymax, Baymax may have flown across cites and has shown supersonic to hypersonic fast reaction feats but Toothless is a Night Fury, and Night Furies have been stated to fly faster than lightning, we can back this up as in battle Toothless has been shown to keep up with dragons who have lightning based abilities and can shoot lightning with breath. Hiccup and Toothless also have the advantage in versatility as they have an arsenal of abilities Toothless can shoot out plasma blasts, using lightning to turn invisible, and even get stronger in his Alpha form, not to mention Hiccup has several tools like his dragon armor, he has a Dragon Fang which let's him use a sword for fire and release toxic gas which can be explosive and he can glide on his own. Hiro and Baymax may have some martial arts abilities and can fire flying fists but none of these abilities can keep up with Hiccup and Toothless so I would give the win go Hiccup and Toothless, it's a close one but still Hiccup and Toothless wins this. It would be awesome if they brought back team based battles.
2. Aang VS Aether (Avatar VS Genshin Impact)
This one is honestly one of the best elemental themed MUs. Now before we get started I just have to say Aang's previous matchup with Edward Elric is trash. The connections and as a fight itself make zero sense and the only reason why it exists is because at that time Aang didn't have any better opponents because Genshin Impact didn't exist at the time. Aang VS Link makes zero sense. Why does that even exist? The only connections they have is that they both slept for 100 years after a war only to wake up and see the world is different that's it. So this one will definitely be an improvement on Aang's part so anyways let's get to the connections.
The connections between Aang and Aether is that their both young boys who from an ancient civilization from centuries ago and are forced to leave them under terrible circumstances (Aang left because his life as the Avatar changed which his nation would later be attacked by the Fire Nation whereas Aether was teleported for another dimension by an unknown god). After they try to escape from something, they get hit with a stroke of fate that sends them into a deep slumber, disconnecting them from the world for many, many years before waking up to a new world that they fight to protect. They are usually accompanied by flying companions (Appa and Paimon, respectively). They're also both deemed extraordinarily powerful for the sole reason that they can manipulate multiple elements. Both also have been apart of teams whose members can each manipulate an individual element, and finally both battle villain organizations (Fire Nation and Abyss Order, respectively) lead by their archenemies (Fire Lord Ozai and Lumine, respectively).
Now then time to see who wins. I'm going to say this is another win for Aang. First of I just have to say this is again a close and a lot more balanced matchup. Because both Aang and Aether can manipulate all four of the elements, abilities, versatility, and elemental attacks are surprisingly out of the question. Since both characters can counter each other's elemental based abilities this really comes down to attack potency and speed. Like how Aether was comparable to Guhua, who levelled a bamboo forest in a single casual swing of his sword.

Based on the calculations that's almost about 20 megatons of TNT. But Aang scales to Kyoshi who can rip apart a piece of land and turned it into an island which according to Death Battle was about 21 gigatons lf TNT.
And not just that but other Avatars in the Avatar State make volcanic erupts, make giant waves almost the size of a island, and use win to blow away an entire landscape all of those feats have been calculated to the gigaton to teraton range which is far greater than what Aether scales to. As for speed Aether can dodge lightning which based on the calculations I found is about Mach 1798.

But Aang has redirected lightning before and firebenders like Iroh was able to direct a lightning bolt from the sky which is a return stroke which normally moves at Mach 286,731 thus making Aang almost 160 (159) times faster than Aether. So overall both are evenly matched in terms of all the elements but Aang's power, destructive capability, and speed meant that more often than not his victory will be assured. Yeah this is honestly a more unique episode than any other matchups that involve elements.

Luz Noceda VS Anne Boonchuy (Owl House VS Amphibia)
The connections between Luz and Anne is they are young female protagonists of Disney shows of non white ethnicities (Thai and Dominican) who were accidentally transported to another dimension and soon find another family in that dimension and learns to love the world they find themselves in Luz was transported to The Boiling Isles via a Door Portal formerly belonging to Eda Clawthorne, Anne was transported to the Land of Amphibia by the Calamity Box). While also having hidden powers native to that dimension (Glyphs for Luz and Calamity Form for Anne). Interestingly both actually had a crossover together.
Who I think wins: Anne Boonchuy
Roxas VS Axl (Kingdom Hearts VS Mega Man)
The connections between Roxas and Axl is that both are the doppelgängers of the series protagonist (Sora and Mega Man X, respectively) being the replicas (Nobody and Reploid, respectively) who were born into a team (Organisation XIII and Red Alert respectively) that sought to use their unique gifts to carry out their plans (Roxas' Keyblade and Axl's Copy Chip respectively). Both teams were manipulated by a baldheaded puppetmaster behind the scenes that sought to use their unique gifts in order to collect what's effectively their series' versions of souls (Hearts and DNA Souls respectively) in order to fuel their immortality, even after continually being put down by the main protagonists. would leave their teams because of their inhumane actions, with a former friend (Xion and Red, respectively) being forced to try and wrangle them back and dying (Xion being reprogrammed to try and merge with Roxas to form a version of Sora the organisation could then use to collect hearts again while Red was blackmailed into retrieving Axl back so he could collect more DNA data to further corrupt Red Alert). Both would soon find a happier life with new friends that would ultimately end in supposed tragedy (Roxas being merged back with Sora after being trapped in a fake Twilight Town by Ansem and Axl being knocked comatose by Lumine), though both would later be revived (Roxas being brought back in Kingdom Hearts 3 and while Axl's fate is unknown, he's still around in Command Mission which is set about a century in the future), and they would also find themselves allying with the one they were originally cloned from as well as a stoic and frequently corrupted swordsman that still sticks with said main character through thick and thin (Riku and Zero respectively). Additional connections include both working alongside and later fighting a character with their same unique ability (Xion and Redips respectively), sharing a fighting style with other members of their cast (Roxas fighting like Sora and Axl fighting like X in X7 and Bass in X8), dual wielding their respective weapons (Roxas' Keyblades and Axl's pistols respectively), being shown the ropes by a red teammate (Axel and Zero respectively) and making their full debut on the PS2.

Bardock VS Omni-Man (Dragon Ball VS Invincible)
The connections between Bardock and Omni-Man is they were previously loyal servants to large galactic empires (Viltrumite Empire and Frieza Force) that conquered planets for their respective empires. Both however turned from their empires (Omni-Man left due to his time on Earth and Bardock left due to the murder of his friends and the premonition that Frieza would destroy the saiyans) and ended up going against their previous peers. Both would end up fighting their previous rulers only to eventually die by their hands (Thragg and Frieza). Both had sons who would go on to have huge impacts on the entire universe (Goku and Invincible, respectively), and both died knowing their sons would succeed where they failed (Omni-Man entrusted Invincible with control of the reformed Viltrumite empire while Bardock died knowing Goku would one day defeat Frieza thanks to his future sight).
Who I think wins: Bardock
Now let's get to number one
1. Kirby VS Arle Nadja (Nintendo VS Sega)
Now this one is something I want to see for 2 reasons for one Death Battle posted a meme of Kirby and asked if he were to return who do you think he should fight next curtesy of Kirby and the Forgotten Land with his Mouth full mode.
And two I think it would be interesting to see a Nintendo VS Sega fight that isn't Mario VS Sonic. Now before we get started let's mention Kirby's other matchups. Majin Buu is without a doubt Kirby's best opponent but I think it's pointless to have Kirby fight Buu again because it's boring. Kirby VS Mega Man X is trash. Fucking trash. The only reason why this fight exists is because of Zero VS Meta Knight. And they have only one thing in common: copy abilities that's it nothing else. Literally all Kirby VS Mega Man fights should not happen because most of them make zero sense and are trash. Mario VS Kirby is interesting but honestly I think it's better if we have Wario VS King Dedede. So anyways let's get to the connections.
The connections between Kirby and Arle Nadja is that their two optimistic protagonists who are considered quite lazy in their universes despite how many adventures they go on. Their first outings started with them helping people with food (Kirby recovers the stolen food of dream land and gives them back to the people and Arle helps her grandmother by getting her a medicine composed of food). The two later on their adventures meet a goofy king (King Dedede and Satan) whom of which are obsessed with them (King dedede due to kirbys popularity over him seeing as the people like Kirby more than him and Satan because arle reminds him of someone from his past). Set kings have had to wear a mask at some point in hopes of beating them to no avail (Masked Dedede and Masked Satan). Both kings also have a smaller alley who belonged to them at first (Bandanna Waddle Dee and Carbuncle) but after meeting the protagonist would much rather hang out with them instead. Both have also had to deal with a morphed version of the sun (Kirby fighting the sun and moon in his games and Arle having to deal with Satan increasing the sun in size). The two also have a dark force in their world (Dark Matter and Dark Matter) who came to their worlds to reel havoc and destruction but were defeated by a magical item that a user in their world had (Kirbys sword and Wish cosmic power). Set entities come back and posses a certain person (King Dedede and Wish). The two have also been under the influence of/have been tricked by a dark entity to destroy everything (Kirby was tricked by magolor into getting the crown and Arle was possessed by ecolo). The two have dealt with another universe version of themselves/another being from their worlds that revolves around mirrors (Dark Meta Knight came out of a mirror in the sky and split Kirby into four taking meta knight with him and trying to kill Kirby later and doppelgänger arle coming from a mirror from the empty void left behind taking carbuncle and trying to kill Arle). They also have dealt with a knight who likes to show off their power and often likes to challenge others Into fights (Schezo and Meta Knight) often giving them a fair chance in battle whenever they encounter them. Both in their series also have to fight the being who created everything (Void Termina and The Creator) and who also have something to do with resurrection (Depending on the good or bad energy of the universe void termina will be reincarnated into s different form and the creators world revolves around life death and resurrection). whom of which invade their worlds and put everyone under their influence. However Kirby and Arle aren't immune (Kirby due to friend hearts and it's not explained why arle is immune) this conflict ends with them beating set creators leaving them to go on their adventures again but not without loss (Kirby lost the chance to make void termina a friend a being who morphed into something that looks like Kirby even implying Kirby might have an influence over his incarnation and Arle having her soul split with her optimistic side being freed but the side that remained in the void turning into Doppelgänger Arle).
Okay I know it's a lot but just bare with me here. Who I think wins is Kirby. Yes Arle has more magic abilities but Kirby can counter them thanks to his inhaling copy ability, on top of that Kirby can access inside his stomach to get all the copy abilities he's used over the years and use them whenever he wanted so even if one hit Kirby loses his ability he can just get another one from his stomach dimension, and Arle's magic isn't limitless as too much strain can leave her body in serious harm. As for speed Kirby can hit a meteor at 9999 light years, keep up with Mega Knight who can fly at 100,000 light years and fly on his Warp Star which can fly to the edge of the universe. As far as attack potency goes both have taken on multiversal level beings but Kirby's foes are far more powerful than what Arle faced. Because of this it shouldn't be long for Kirby to overwhelm Arle and take the win. I think it makes sense to have Kirby fight Arle than Buu a second time.
