ALPHA
{ chapter thirty-five }

─── ・ 。゚☆: *.☽ .* :☆゚. ───

Derek and I went through the old books that we had found in the Hale house. Trying to find something about resurrected werewolves or Kanimas or any of several problems we currently had.

"Has your mom talked to you or Scott yet?" Derek asked me as I sat on the table.

"No," I answered, "I think she already put the pieces together that I'm one too."

Derek looked up at me before turning around to see Erica and Vernon.

"You decided. When?" Derek wondered.

"Tonight." Erica told him.

"Everyone's going to be at the game and we figured it was the best time." Vernon pointed out.

"It's not like we want to." Erica spoke.

"What do you want?" Derek asked.

"Since I just turned sixteen a month ago, I wouldn't mind getting my license. I can't do that if I'm dead you know." She answered.

"Well, I told you there was a price." Derek told them.

"You didn't say it would be like this." Vernon replied.

"Yeah, but I told you how to survive. You do it as a pack and you're not a pack without an alpha." Derek spoke.

"We know." Vernon said before looking at Erica.

"You wanna look for another pack? How are you even gonna find one?" Derek questioned.

"We think we already did." Vernon answered.

"Like all of a sudden, we heard all this howling. It was unbelievable. There must have been a dozen of them. Maybe more." Erica informed him.

"Yeah, or maybe only two. You know what beau gest effect is? If they modulate their howls with a rapid shift in tone, two wolves can sound like twenty." Derek responded.

"That doesn't matter, okay? There's another pack out there. There's got to be. We've made up our minds." Erica replied.

"We lost, Derek, and it's over. We're leaving." Vernon told him.

"No, you're running, and once you start, you don't stop. You'll always be running." Derek pointed out.

I grabbed his hand, "Let them go."

They both smiled sadly at me before they walked out of the Hale house.

"How did everything go so wrong?" Derek asked turning to me.

"It's not your fault. You became an alpha and started a pack, we didn't know all this would happen." I said to him softly.

"We started a pack," He corrected me, "At least I still have you by my side."

"You always will." I replied smiling as I wrapped my arms around his neck.

"Well, isn't this cute." I hear Peter say.

I grabbed a piece of shattered glass from the floor of the old house, throwing it at him. He caught it right in front of his throat.

"I expected a slightly warmer welcome but point taken," Peter started, "It's quite a situation you've got yourself into, Derek. I mean, I'm out of commission for a few weeks and suddenly there's lizard people, geriatric psychopaths, and you're cooking up werewolves out of every self esteem deprived adolescent in town."

"What do you want?" Derek asked.

"Well, I want to help. You're my nephew. And Dillon, you're my beta. I'm one of the only ones who knows how to teach you how to use your powers. There's still a lot that I can teach both of you. Can we just talk?" Peter wondered walking up, placing a hand on Derek's shoulder.

"Sure. Let's talk." Derek said looking down at his hand before throwing him into the staircase.

"You don't actually think that I want to be the alpha again, do you? That wasn't my finest performance, considering it ended in my death. I'm usually more," Peter was cut off as Derek went to punch him, "Okay, go ahead! Come on, do it. Hit me. I can see that it's cathartic for you. You're letting go of all the anger, self-loathing, and hatred that comes with total and complete failure. I may be the one taking the beating, Derek, but you've already been beaten. So, go ahead. Hit me if it would make you feel better. After all, I did say that I wanted to help."

"You can't help me." Derek told Peter as he walked over to me.

"See? Prime example right here. I'm not healing as fast. Coming back from the dead isn't easy, you know. I'm not as strong as I used to be. I need a pack. An alpha like you. I need you as much as you need me." Peter said standing up causing Derek to scoff.

"Why would I want help from a total psycho?" Derek asked.

"First of all, I'm not a total psycho and, by the way, you're the one that slashed my throat wide open, but we're all works in progress, right? So we need each other." Peter stated.

"And I'm needed at my brother's lacrosse game," I said before pecking Derek's cheek, standing up, "I'll come back after. Hopefully, you two's family reunion will be done."

Derek nodded before I headed for the door.

"We'll miss you, Dillon." Peter said loudly as I walked out.

"Shut up Peter." I replied closing the door.

I hopped in my car, cranking it, before heading down the road that goes right down the middle of the woods. I got about halfway down before I heard someone scream.

"Go!"

I recognized that voice. Erica. I slammed on my brakes, turning off the car, and jumping out in a split second. I took off running til I found her with arrows in her and Vernon standing next to her growling at the person shooting the arrows. Allison.

"Allison, stop!" I shouted putting myself between them and her.

She went to shoot another arrow at Vernon but I caught it.

"Allison, stop, let them go." I told her.

"No, they're Derek's pack. I have to get to them." She hissed.

"Yeah and you know what I am to him so take me. Not them." I pointed out.

"Fine." She said lowering her bow.

I turned to the two betas, "You two go. Run like hell."

"What about you, Dil?" Vernon asked.

"They won't kill me because I'm Scott's sister and Allison wouldn't hurt him like that." I answered.

"Dillon..." Erica started.

"I'll be fine. Find that pack and don't stop running til you find them. Go now." I replied.

I turned around raising my hands in surrender to Allison and Chris as Erica and Vernon ran.

Allison came up to me, grabbing my hands to chain them together.

"Oh and Allison, if you hurt Derek, I'll kill you myself."

I had my hands chained above my head with electrical wires taped to my hands in the basement of the Argent's house.

"Hello Miss Dillon," Gerard said making his way down the stairs, "Allison told me about how special you are to a certain werewolf I've been looking for. I know he would do anything if it concerned your safety."

"Go to hell." I hissed.

"Where is Derek Hale?" He asked me.

I kept my mouth shut. He turned up the electrical power sending shocks through my entire body. I dug my claws into my hands as I screamed when he turned the electricity up even higher.

"Tell me where Derek Hale is!" He shouted.

He turned the electrical power off, "You're loyalty is impressive. You would have made an amazing hunter."

"Yeah and hunt people like my boyfriend, my brother, and my friends. Hell no." I told him breathlessly.

He glared at me before walking upstairs. A few moments later, Stiles came falling down the stairs.

"Stiles." I breathed.

"Dillon, what the hell is going on?" He asked me.

"They're trying to get to Derek. They blame him for Victoria's death." I told him.

"She was trying to kill you and Scott though." He pointed out.

"You really think they care?" I wondered.

"Let me get you down." He said reaching for the wires.

"Stiles don't-" I was cut off after he pulled his hand back from being slightly shocked.

"She was trying to warn you it's electrified." Gerard said walking back down the stairs.

"What are you doing with her?" Stiles wondered.

"At the moment, just keeping her comfortable. There's no point in torturing her anymore. She'd never give Derek up. Her love for him and her instinct to protect him is too strong." He pointed out.

"What are you doing with me? Because Scott can find me, all right? He knows my scent. It's pungent, you know? It's more like a stench. He could find me even if I was buried at the bottom of a sewer covered in fecal matter and urine. If you want die, keep Dillon, Derek and Scott would kill your over her without a second thought." Stiles informed him.

"You have a gift for painting a vivid picture, Mr. Stilinski. Let me paint one of my own. Scott McCall finds his best friend bloodied and beaten to a pulp. How does that sound?" Gerard asked.

"I think I might prefer more of a still life landscape, you know? W-What are you 90? Look, I can probably kick your ass up and down this room." Stiles said before Gerard slapped him into the ground.

I yanked against my chains, "Touch him again and I'll rip your throat you old bastard."
