~~Your Pov~~

"You're sure you're going to be fine?" Offender asks me for what feels like the millionth time.

I'm not entirely sure what's going on but I know I need you leave and go somewhere. I can feel it in my soul. Someone or something needs me and I have to go. I told Offender about it and he mentioned that it might be a job. Since we now know I'm a guardian angel chances are pretty good I have souls on Earth to lookout for.

"I'll be fine," I tell him once more. "I'll be back. I'll have my phone on me, it'll be fine."

"Okay," Offender sighs. "Good luck."

I give him a smile before I vanish, appearing within a dark forest. It reminds me a bit of Slender's forest but whatever is here isn't as strong as his forest is. Small balls of light pop up on the ground in a path. Instinctively I move my hands into a position, a weapon appearing in my hands. My eyes widen in shock. Have I always been able to summon a weapon?! I don't have time to think how cool it is because something is telling me I need to move and move fast. I easily dash through the forest as I follow the path of small lights.

My eyes widen when I come into an area with a bunch of downed trees, a wendigo trembling in place as humans threaten its life. Can humans even kill it? Regardless I don't want to find out because my desire to protect the creature is strong. It stumbles back with a pained snarl when a knife lodges into his shoulder. Black blood seeps from many wounds on its body, its breathing heavy and labored. It has put up as much fight as it could but it's losing steam. I need to step in before it's too late. I teleport in front of the wendigo and throw up a shield with my weapon. The humans are caught off guard, staring straight through me and at the injured wendigo. They can't see me but the wendigo can.

"Shift!" I bark out to it.

The humans' faces shift into absolute terror as the wendigo shifts into its demon like form, the darkness in the forest seeming to only grow blacker around the wendigo.

"I can't! I don't want to die!" One of the women screams, throwing down her weapon and bolting.

"Don't attack! Just retreat!" I bark at the wendigo.

Its eyes in its skull glare a moment but it does as told. I raise my weapon high and all light vanishes, the humans screaming with terror. I leave it dark until the wendigo is away from the humans. I'll help them out of here later but I need to make sure the wendigo is okay.

"You okay?" I ask when I catch up to them, the wendigo snorting in before letting out a sigh.

"Thank you," It speaks in its language, and I find I can understand them greatly. "I thought I was dead."

"Fortunately I got here on time. I would recommend staying low for a while until you heal," I tell him. "What happened?"

"There's a town I tend to eat people from. The forest suddenly opened up to a new town but they hunted me down and injured me. Why are you here? You're an angel right? Yet, you protected me and not the humans?" They question.

"I'm a guardian angel of what people see as monsters, cryptids, myths, legends, you name it. I'll still help the humans but you're my main concern," I explain to the wendigo. "You scared them off pretty good. We'll have to figure out your forest situation."

"I'll go rest for now. Will I see you again?" They ask of me.

"Of course," I tell them, stepping up to them and then resting a hand on their chest.

Magic ripples and spreads from my hand over the wendigo. I've placed a protection spell on them so they will remain safe. Should anything threaten them I will know. This is all so new and crazy, but it feels right. I feel like I have a purpose on this Earth now. No one is here to guide me, the other guardian angels probably furious by what I'm a guardian over. It probably goes against every code but these creatures are part of Earth as well. They have just as much right to live as humans do! I'm on my own, but at least I have someone to return to. It's not going to be a lonely night.

Offender is pretty much my best friend at this point. He's giving me a place to live my life without any restrictions. I'm finally free of Slender's hold and can make my own decisions for where I want to take my life. I have a new and very weird purpose but I'm just going with the flow at this point. Once the wendigo is safe I track down the humans within the forest. I can only sense the one wendigo within this forest. It rules over a really large area. I wonder if it gets lonely being all alone?

I head to the new opening within the forest and do what I can to close the barrier to the new town. A barrier goes up and I'm hoping it's enough to keep the humans out for a little while until I can figure out the forest thing. I groan softly because I know who I have to ask, and I really don't want to have to do it. You probably shouldn't ask without Offender with you but you know Slender is currently in his office at the time. He wouldn't be happy I'm interrupting his 'work' but I also doubt he's really doing much. It's Friday. He usually just hides in his office with the excuse of work.

"It's rude not to knock," Slender growls when I suddenly appear in his office. Oops. I meant to teleport outside the door.

"I didn't think you'd be busy," I reply, snickering at the 'glare' I earn from him.

"What do you want?" He growls in response.

"How do I shut down a forest barrier?" I ask him.

"HA! Like I'd tell you that," He replies. "Fuck off."

"It's not for YOUR forest you self entitled prick. There's a wendigo who needs help shutting down an opening in their forest. I wouldn't ask if I didn't absolutely need it." I tell him.

He 'looks' at me for a while, probably contemplating whether he wants to believe me or not. I don't need him to trust me. I just need him to help me. He finally lets out a heavy sigh and gets to his feet.

"Come on," He growls, offering his hand.

I hesitate to take it but end up doing so. Slender teleports the two of us to a random spot in the forest. As I focus I can see the barrier within the trees, that's split in half, a giant hole in the magic protecting the forest. Further out into the trees I can see a small town, turning my attention to Slender.

"How do I close it?" I ask him.

"If you can connect to the magic you basically ask the forest to help you close it. Forests have a lot of untapped magic, and if you show it respect then it'll also show you respect." He explains. "Try it."

I nod and press my hand against the barrier of magic, closing my eyes and focusing on my task. I ask the forest to close the hole of magic, stepping back with wide eyes as the hole seals itself up, the town no longer in sight. My heart pounds in my chest as I look at the solid barrier, Slender making a noise. I can't tell if it's approval or disapproval but it doesn't matter much to me.

"Why did you want that one closed?" I ask him, hurrying to catch up when he strides away. "Hey! Wait up!"

"Not my fault you have short legs," He spits back. "The people of that town have seen a few of us and they were about to launch a hunting party. While the forest will keep them from ever finding us it's still a pain to kill humans who don't know how to stay out."

"You're not looking to slaughter every human in existence? That's a surprise," I remark.

"If I did that then I'd no longer have a good source. If given the option of not needing human's for food I'd slaughter every single one that ever steps foot in here," He growls out. "It's just not convenient to kill all of them."

"Fair enough," You mumble with a grimace.

Still the same cold and ruthless killer. I can't let myself forget that even if he is being 'nice' as far as nice goes for him. I still hate him for everything he did to me. He treated me like dirt and I know he's only being hospitable because I'm no longer a human. This man had brought me to death's door so many times it makes me wonder if the grim reaper would have it out for Slender. An amused smile comes to my lips at the idea of the two facing off against one another. I've cheated death so many times that me and death may as well be acquaintances if not friends at this point.

"What are you finding so amusing?" Slender asks, pulling me from my thoughts. Why does he even care?

"Nothing really," I shrug. "Just thinking."

"Hmm," He hums but goes quiet, the two of us making a quick walk back to the mansion.

"This is where I'll leave you. Thank you for the help," I tell him.

"Sure," He says, heading into the mansion while I teleport back to the forest with the wendigo. It's better to get the job done quicker so they don't have to worry about being hunted down again. It's your job after all.
