In the middle of a room filled to the brim by inquisitive teenagers sat Kinsey, on the edge of the surgical table idly kicking her legs as she waited for Deaton to come back in the room. When they had all walked into the clinic unannounced the man was taken by surprise, he'd walked out of the room with gloves on his hand, mid-check up on a cat. He'd looked across the room, at all the young faces staring back at him with faint smiles. He had never seen all of them together like this, which made him believe it was urgent, while he finished up with his patient the group had been left on their own to sit and wait, as they were now, in the room next door. Each of them wanted to know what exactly Kinsey was, and they wanted to hear Deaton's exact words for it, things might get lost in translation, and while dealing with the supernatural, that wasn't ideal.

Lydia stood leaning against one of the cupboards, her eyes scanning the room, unlike the rest of the group she wasn't so familiar with the place, she had never had to come here before, not even for Prada, much like herself, her dog was nothing short of perfection. Allison stood beside the redhead as she nervously looked at Kinsey, hoping that she wasn't kind of devil, she wasn't sure how they would come to explain that to Chris, or how they would explain she was any type of supernatural creature. He had grown a lot as a person these past few months, but she wasn't sure he had grown enough to accept even his niece for what she was.

Stiles stood beside the girl, nervously tapping his foot on the ground as he waited for Deaton, he was the most nervous out of all of them. He had spent all night looking through google for what she could be, based on what he had learned about her, Scott was supposed to help too, but he'd been asleep the entire time, so he proved pretty unuseful. And so had his searching, he hadn't found anything that she could be, most of his searches had sent him to a quite disturbing porn site, which was traumatizing even for him.

Scott stood in the doorway, deep in thought, as he had been since coming back from Glen Capri, all he could think about was whether Ethan was right, nobody had heard from Derek yet, it had only been a few hours since their return, but it had been two days since what happened at the mall, he thought Derek would have given them at least a text to tell them he was still alive.

Meanwhile, Isaac stood in the furthest corner of the room, he could smell a hint of anger coming from Stiles every time they were in the same vicinity, Lydia had been giving him an evil stare since the bus ride from Fairvale and Allison kept looking at him with a confused look across her face, as though she was trying to figure something out about him, his intentions maybe. Kinsey had come clean on the bus ride home about the two of them, talking about her situationship with Isaac, who had been forcibly dragged from the back of the bus by Lydia had made the time go a lot faster than on the drive here. By the time they reached the rest stop where Allison's car was waiting everyone had gotten their questions out of their systems, meaning that Kinsey could spend the remainder of the drive home singing loudly to the radio with Lydia and Allison rather than basking in the awkwardness that had been created on the bus.

Nobody quite knew what to say to them, they weren't in a relationship, so they couldn't ask the usual questions, they didn't want to make things more awkward than they already were. They just had to agree that things would always be slightly difficult from now on. Because well, Kinsey seemed to be the only one who didn't realize Stiles had lied through his teeth when he said that he was fine with the idea of Kinsey and Isaac. In the romance area, she always had been naive.

"So." Deaton's voice sounded through the awfully quiet room, everyone standing and sitting tall to prepare themself for the big reveal. "How can I help you all?"

"It happened," Kinsey stated simply. "At least, I think it did? It felt like it did. But then you never actually told me what I was waiting for. Honestly, we're kinda just feeling through the dark here."

A slightly confused Deaton walked up to the girl nodding as if he understood, partially he did, he knew what she was referring to when she talked about it happening, but he had to know exactly what had happened to know if she was talking about the right thing. So altogether, the seven teenagers gave him a run-through of the events of Glen Capri, right up to Kinsey creating a shield that stopped all of them becoming burnt toast. Stiles had helped give vivid details about the said shield, describing what it looked like, which was pretty much just a clear force field, only visible thanks to the fire that had been blazing against it.

"I still don't really understand how I did it, I didn't know I could do that." Kinsey shrugged. "It kind of just happened..." She continued to explain to the seemingly all-knowing man.

"Because you wanted it to happen. You wanted to protect everyone and you did." Deaton said simply with a smile.

"But there's been a million times I've wanted to protect people and it's never happened before."

"You weren't strong enough to do it before, your still young for your kind. It can take a lot of time to build up to something that big, and against fire too? I don't think you understand how much extraordinary strength it takes to do something like that." Deaton explained, thought to the girl, and everyone else in the room, his words still felt cryptic.

Kinsey nodded, trying to come to terms with his words, though they didn't seem to make much sense to her. As they all sat quietly waiting for the next question to pop into one of their heads Deaton waited patiently, he knew that with this many teenagers in his clinic, all of them with big personalities, one of them would come up with something soon. This time it had been Lydia. She recalled the night that the deer crashed through the windscreen of her car, how all three of them had been centimeters from it, yet all of them got out of the car unscathed with not even a single piece of glass in their hair. She had to assume that wasn't just luck like she had presumed before, but Kinsey. Deaton hadn't known too much about the events of that night, Scott had told him about the deer, but not about the small details of neither of the three girls having even glass in their hair after getting out of the car. He couldn't blame the wolf, it seemed like nothing back then, but now, it was clear that Kinsey had shown her capabilities before any of them had even noticed it. Glen Capri wasn't the first time she had protected her friends from harm, it was just the first time she had been able to see the shield.

"What is "her kind" exactly?" Issac asked, it was what everyone wanted to know.

Deaton sighed, he knew this wasn't going to be easy to explain, all of his evidence came from what he had been told by the only angel he had met before the girl in front of him, they were too rare to be recorded in something like her families bestiary, he knew that he didn't have all the details of her kind, and. whenever would, all he could do was tell her what he did know. And that was what the angel had written down for him, in case there was ever another time where he found any more of her kind, so he could protect them like she was unable to do for herself when they had crossed paths all that time ago. He left the room leaving the teenagers clinging onto his words as they watched the door with anticipation, waiting for him to come back. They thought he could have at least told them where he was going before he quickly disappeared from the room leaving them all questioning what the hell was going on with the girl in the middle of the room. All of them stood in silence, listening to the sound of crashing drawers as Deaton looked for that piece of paper he had kept safe for all of this time, hidden in the deepest corners of his clinic so that he, and only he, could find it when the time comes. Now was that time.

"Now, unfortunately, I don't have much information to give you. Your kind is exceptionally hard to come by. I've only met one once before, she was the one who gave me this, in case I ever did come across another angel." Deaton explained as he walked back over to the brunette sitting in the middle of his surgical room. "I never thought I would come across one again, and then you walked into my clinic one day, and I immediately knew. Angels have this aura, I'm surprised the two of you haven't noticed it." He added, looking at the two wolves in the room. Neither of them quite knew what he was talking about, they had never noticed anything, both Scott and Isaac shook their heads at him with confusion. "When you use your eyes, what do you see?" Deaton asked the two of them, watching as both of their eyes turned their golden yellow.

"Nothing." Both of them followed.

"Remarkable," Deaton muttered under his breath, turning back to the girl.

"Not to be a Debby downer or anything, Deaton, but what the hell is an Angel? I mean, I know what an angel is, messengers of god and all that mumbo jumbo. But I thought that was just something out of the bible, not an actual you know... creature?" Kinsey tried to speak her mind but it was quite confusing. She didn't quite know how to pull together a sentence after Deaton had just referred to her as an angel multiple times, that she certainly couldn't be. There was nothing angelic about her, and she certainly didn't have an aura. Deaton handed the brunette the piece of paper, explaining that it may make more sense to her than his words, for once, he wasn't so all-knowing, which only scared her more. How was she supposed to know about her own kind if even Dr. Deaton didn't know it, he was like her personal walking encyclopedia.

"That looks like a page from the bestiary." Allison pointed out as she moved to stand beside the brunette, peering over her shoulder at the page, the other five teenagers following her lead.

Once the page had been read by every teenager in the room there was a long pause of silence, for most, it was because of the fact they had just read that Angels, like Kinsey, got tested on by none other than the Argent's, her own family. But for Kinsey and Allison, that wasn't the detail that stood out, but the very subject that would have been poked prodded and killed just because of what she was. They knew that name, they'd heard it many times in their life, it wasn't one they forgot. Partially because it was so similar to Kinsey's, it was hard to forget the woman that they had only met once in their lives with a name like that. A feeling of nausea had settled into their stomachs, knowing that it would have been Gerard to lead those series of little tests on Kinsley White, his own wife, killing her in the process.

Kinsey pulled herself off of the surgical table, clearing her throat as she tried to shake off the strong feeling of sickness that reading that page had given her. When she had arrived here she wanted to ask every possible question, now, she wasn't so sure she could hear anymore. From all of the abilities of her supposed kind, let alone finding out that she had a kind, all of the words had overwhelmed her, and then finding out what happened to her grandmother, she couldn't take asking any more questions.

But that wouldn't stop the rest of the pack from doing it for her.

"If this is a page from the Argent's bestiary, how did you get it?" Stiles questioned, he still looked at the page in front of him trying to absorb all of the information on it for later use, specifically all of the things that Kinsey was already capable of doing from what he had seen as well as what else he might find her doing from now on. He was quite intrigued yet terrified to find out if she was capable of pyrokinesis, he knew not to get on her bad side, she might just set him on fire.

"The subject. Kinsley White, she gave it to me." Deaton explained solemnly. "She had a feeling that something bad was going to happen to her, she'd been telling me for weeks, it wasn't until she came here that night that she was sure of it, she knew it would happen as soon as she left, I don't know how she got the page. But she gave it to me in case I ever ran into an Angel again, and now I have. It's astounding actually, the similar name, both of you were the same kind, you even look like her." Deaton continued with a stifled laugh.

"She's our grandmother." Allison deadpanned, Deaton seemed surprised by the revelation. Now he finally knew how Kinsley White had been connected to the Argent family, how she had stolen one of the pages from their bestiary. Because she was an Argent, only through marriage. Which was just another thing he never knew about her. "Gerard's wife, that was her. Kinsley. It was where Kate got the name from. And I'm guessing where Kins got the Angel gene from."

"But if Kinsey has the gene, then don't you?" Lydia asked, her question pointed towards Deaton rather than Allison, from what she had read, it seemed that way.

"It's possible." Deaton nodded. "We wouldn't know until she activated it somehow." He added, looking at the older huntress who now felt just as sick as Kinsey knowing that they could meet the same fate as their grandmother because of what they were/could be. There was nothing simple about being an Argent, nothing.

Kinsey walked around the room, slowly pacing as she tried to let all of this new information sink in, with every small bit of new information came a million new questions. She still didn't quite understand why she had seen herself with glowing eyes at the motel, from what she had read on that page it wasn't a trait of an Angel, but apparently, an aura was, an aura that Scott and Isaac hadn't even been able to see, it wasn't even mentioned on the page, but somehow Deaton knew about it. Another string of questions appeared in her mind with that thought. If she sat down and asked every single one that popped into her head she would be in this clinic for eternity, her own family wouldn't have a chance to hunt her down and use her as a little science experiment.

"So how did Kinsey do it?" Scott questioned the man. "Activate it, I mean."

Kinsey looked at the man, she hadn't quite thought of that question. But now that she had heard it she was just as curious to know. She hadn't made a grave sacrifice, and she highly doubted that she was pure of heart and intent, she was bred from two of the worst people that Beacon Hills had ever seen. An arsonist and Satan in a v-neck, there was no chance that the spawn of those two would create something angelic. He must be mistaken, or the page of the bestiary her grandmother had ripped out was missing something.

Deaton didn't hesitate to give them the answer, he'd been observing the brunette closely, waiting to see if she confirmed his suspicions of being an Angel. So now, he knew exactly why she had come to activate it. She was pure of heart, he told them. He told the group of teenagers to look at her parents, with as little offense meant to the girl as possible, both of them, Kate and Peter, were bad people, there was no argument around it. And yet Kinsey wasn't. She fought for people, she always tried to do the right things. But for Deaton, he believed there was one thing that made her stand out from all of those things, the thing that really made her pure of heart. Despite all of the horrible things her parents had done she had managed to forgive them both, that took a lot more than just some courage, it took the purest of hearts to see and hope for such good in people after all of the things that they had done. Even if they were her parents, Kinsey had forgiven them both, and that was how she had managed to activate the Angel gene she had been blessed with, arguably cursed.

"How did you know her? Our grandmother?" Kinsey asked, finally able to string together a sentence. She had a feeling that she already knew, something about the way that Deaton had spoken of their grandmother, something about that sparkle in his eyes, the way that the corner of his mouth turned into a slight smirk as he reminisced on their days. That kind of look, that kind of smile, that came from love.

Rain patterned hard against the windows of the animal clinic, Beacon Hills in the middle of one of the worst storms it had seen in a while. The night was cold, dark, much like the town that he lived in. The man was preparing to close up as he stood by the front door, turning around the small sign to declare that the clinic was closed for the night until he saw a familiar face through the glass. She stood tall, as always, despite her appearance being slightly dampened from the rain, though not even a bit of wet hair and damn clothes could affect the elegance that Talia Hale embodied, it was natural, powerful. Deaton opened the door with a smile, welcoming the Alpha werewolf into his clinic, she was one of the few people that the sign on his door didn't apply to, as their emissary, his advice and assistance was always open to them, all of the Hale's. What he didn't expect was the further company behind Talia, a woman walked into the clinic behind the Alpha, flashing him a smile that automatically filled him with warmth, her smile contagious as he returned it with a nod before shutting the door, keeping out the cold while they talked about their important business, that had to be the reason for this unannounced visit. Talia Hale didn't do casual chats, not even with her emissary, as unofficial ruler of the supernaturals, she never had the time for a catch-up over a glass of wine or cup of tea, it was always business.

He guided the two women to the surgical room where they could begin their discussion.

"Deaton, this is my good friend Kinsley White. Kinsley, this is Dr. Alan Deaton, my dear friend, and the emissary to my pack. Anything you say to him will be kept in this room, I promise." Talia smiled at the woman. "I have other duties to attend to, but I'm sure the two of you can handle this alone, correct?" The woman spoke with authority, the two nodding in agreement as they wished her farewell, watching as her shadow faded, followed by the ringing of the front door.

"I heard you're quite the knowledgable man when it comes to supernatural beings."

From that night, and many more after that Kinsley White visited the animal clinic hoping to learn more about her kind, for months she had been sensing her own death, seeing it even. She never had told the man what she had seen, but she knew it would happen, it was only a matter of time. In those few months, the two spent together, almost seeing each other every day, always late at night Deaton would help her to gain a sense of control over what she was feeling and her supernatural abilities, in return, she would give him all of the information she could from the Argent's bestiary. She claimed she could get her hands on it, bring him some of the pages so that he could continue to help the supernatural like he was helping her, she had hopes that one day the war between human and supernatural would end, and that maybe the man in front of her would contribute to that. There were many great species in this world, even just in Beacon Hills alone, and as long as the Argent's stayed in town, the longer the war would rage on. Neither of them knew on that first night when Talia Hale had introduced them that a friendship would soon blossom, and even go further, slowly forming into the beginning of what could only though to be love. Not even the Angel, someone granted with the blessing and curse of being able to predict the future had seen it coming, part of her was ashamed as she allowed the affair to continue, but it wasn't like what she had at home with the husband and children she refrained from telling the veterinarian about, she felt young, euphoric.

It was four months from that first night that when Deaton had been treating a patient in his surgical room, he was startled by the sound of a heavy fist on the glass of the front door, of course, he quickly attended to the matter as he rushed out to see who it was. And what he found was a distraught Kinsley White at his door, frantically looking from behind her and back into the clinic as though she was being watched. Even seeing Deaton walking towards the door hadn't allowed her face to smile with relief, her eyes were like a deer in headlights, something bad was going to happen. Something or someone bad was coming.

"I didn't see her again after that." Deaton finished his story. "She left me with that page, and that was it. Talia didn't see her again, nobody did. We didn't even know she was with the Argent's. But maybe now I'll be able to fulfill her wish and protect you from what happened to her." He said with a faint smile, looking at the girl. Though he hadn't explicitly said it, it was clear that if and when she wanted help coming to terms with these abilities, she knew where she could go to find that help. She wasn't sure at this moment that she would ever want to encourage what was going on inside of her, especially after finding out what her family did, but she couldn't hide it forever. Especially not from Chris, she lived with the man.

--

Sitting on the edge of her bed Kinsey tied the shoelaces of her black converse, surprisingly, Lydia had approved of them this morning on their six o'clock skype call. It was when she was sitting on the bed that a head poked in the small crack she'd left open in the door, the small creak of the wooden door being what had brought her attention to it. There stood a tall wolf standing in its small gap, looking at her, waiting to be invited in, waiting to be noticed. Kinsey was surprised to see him in her doorway for a few reasons, she wasn't sure how he had gotten in unless Allison had let him in, but that seemed unlike her, and she was surprised that he had the guts to step into a home belonging to three Argent hunters, that thought scared even her now, and she was one of the three hunters.

Though she'd already looked at him Isaac refused to step into the room until he was invited in, it was his first time in the Argent apartment, he didn't want to make it his last by overstepping one of Chris's many boundaries. Even if the man himself wasn't home, Allison had told him that when she had hesitantly let him in. She still wasn't sure how she felt about the two of them, she was happy that Kinsey was happy, but the fact he was a werewolf didn't settle well with her, not after what it was like for her and Scott. Isaac was Derek's beta too, she couldn't help but wonder if there was an ulterior motive there, even if Kinsey was part Hale, it still crossed her mind that Derek could betray her, weaken her by making her feel something for Isaac. Her final reasoning was the most simple of all. She didn't want to see Kinsey get hurt by anyone, Allison had felt the sensation of heartbreak, it was something she would never wish upon her cousin.

Kinsey looked at Isaac with a furrowed brow as he stood in the doorway, confused at what he was waiting for. The two of them had to be close enough now for him to feel comfortable just barging into her room, it wasn't as though they were just friends or acquaintances anymore, that stage of them was long gone now. Now that everyone but her Uncle Chirs knew about him she would have expected him to barge in all guns blazing singing Abba songs at the top of his lungs to make sure that she was actually awake for school, usually, she never was at this time of the morning. But today, she was alert and ready. Maybe it was the excitement of knowing that Cora started at the high school today that had woken her up, or maybe she was finally getting used to the routine of waking up for school again. The girl mumbled a small, slightly snarky "come in?" before turning back to her shoelaces, finishing tying them up.

When Isaac finally stepped into the room it was confirmed to the girl that something was wrong. First his weird behavior of standing at the door and now the look on his face, as though he were nervous to walk to her, or even scared. He'd even begun fiddling with his fingers which was a habit he'd picked up from Kinsey herself with all the time they had spent together. She hadn't seen him look this scared since she'd found him hiding under the bed at Glen Capri, traumatized by what his mind was telling him to do. It wasn't usually a look he had because of her.

"Isaac, you okay?" Kinsey asked as she stood up, walking closer to the boy.

He didn't answer for a moment, thinking about his words before he built up the courage to say them. "Can I ask you a favor?" He mumbled, barely audible if it weren't for how quiet the apartment was, it was always quiet with just the three of them living there. Chris never made a sound, the man hid in his office, always hard at work now he was trying to bring back the Argent Arms business. And the two teenage girls were either never home, or were sitting around with each other, there was no need for the loud shouting of most households with them.

"Yeah. Of course." She agreed, taking a seat again. She was surprised he even had to ask that question, surely he knew by now that she would do a favor for him, big or small.

"Will you come to the loft with me?" He began. Now it was beginning to make a little more sense to the girl. He wasn't scared of her but of Derek. "Cora texted me this morning, the Alpha pack left their mark on the loft window. They're expecting them tonight. Boyd's coming too, but..."

"Isaac." Kinsey stopped him. "I don't need an explanation. You had me at favor."

After what she'd seen and heard the night Isaac had gotten kicked out there was no reason that he needed to explain why he wanted her there when he saw Derek again, it was only the second time he'd seen him since then, the first since Derek let them think he was dead. She couldn't blame him for being scared, just because he was a werewolf didn't mean he couldn't have fear. That night had stirred up some old memories for him, memories of his father.

"Are you sure? I know you aren't exactly his biggest fan either at the minute."

"True." She shrugged. "But that doesn't mean I wouldn't help you. Come on, I'll drive. I was supposed to be picking up Cora anyway." Kinsey said with a smile, she stood on her tiptoes planting a quick peck on his cheek before grabbing her bag and guiding him out of the apartment, shouting a quicky goodbye to Allison as she did so. She was surprised that Allison was still here, normally she would be meeting Lydia for a morning coffee or fitting in a quick study session with the redhead so she didn't get held back next year.

Once the two had picked up Boyd they headed for the loft. It was an eventful journey for multiple reasons. First of all, Boyd had explained his elaborate plan on how to protect Derek from the Alpha's tonight which began with filling the loft with electrical terms, then quite simply- flooding the loft. It was a smart plan Nova had to admit, but she wasn't sure Derek would be thrilled with the idea of filling his loft with water as if it were a kiddie pool.

After the explanation of his elaborate plan, the eventfulness of the journey continued for the mere reason of Kinsey having to call the school on behalf of the two wolves who'd be skipping school to act as Derek's bodyguards. She and Cora on the other hand would simply be a little late. When calling the school she'd had to give an excuse that would allow the two boys to get away with not going to school for at least today and tomorrow, they'd probably need it to rest after the inevitable battle of tonight. For Isaac, she had said that he had a migraine and couldn't get out of bed, it was simple but seemed to convince the receptionist, Mrs. Cape. When it came to Boyd however, she panicked. She scrambled for an excuse until two words blurted out of her mouth. Explosive diarrhea. Kinsey would never forget the look Boyd had given her through the rearview mirror when she'd blurted out those two words, he looked mortified and almost ready to kill her. He'd never be able to look at Mrs. Cape the same.

When the three waltzed into the loft Kinsey was leading the two boys, both of which had volunteered for her to be the first to walk in, she seemed to be the least threatened by Derek, she carried that seemingly careless attitude towards danger like all Hales did. Even Boyd was still nervous to see Derek after his "death".

The Alpha himself was sitting on the metal staircase in the corner of the loft, he had nothing better to do than wait for the Alpha pack to invade his home tonight. Cora was nowhere to be seen, but Kinsey assumed she was in her room preparing herself for her first-ever day at high school. Apparently, it wasn't something she had the time for while living in South America, but now, with Kinsey, she didn't have the choice. If it were to be anyone else to suggest her going to high school she would have slapped them, maybe even killed them, but Kinsey was the only person that she was willing to listen to. The only one.

"Go back to school." Derek deadpanned, barely letting the three step into the loft.

"No can do." Kinsey shook her head.

"Boyd and I are incredibly and unbelievably sick," Isaac added.

"With what, brain damage?" The Alpha scoffed.

Kinsey couldn't help but laugh at the comment, while still pissed at the Alpha, it was a good one. Why couldn't he be funny all the time? It had to be much easier than trying to act like the big bad wolf of Beacon Hills. Or sour wolf as Stiles liked to call him.

"Well, I have a migraine and Boyd here has explosive diarrhea thanks to Kinsey."

"You helped these idiots?" Derek asked, looking at his cousin who stood with folded arms.

Kinsey gave him a single nod, not objecting to the "idiots" comment. Frankly, they were idiots. For wanting to protect Derek after he had let them believe he was dead and even now when he didn't seem grateful that they were willing to risk their lives against a pack of Alphas for him. So yeah, Isaac and Boyd were idiots. Maybe even she was too. "They're here to protect me. And I'm here to protect them, at least until Cora's ready."

"Right. You're making her go to school." Derek scoffed before turning to the wolves who stood behind her. "You're here to protect me?" He asked, both boys nodding. "I'm in trouble then."

"Actually, Boyd here came up with a plan," Isaac spoke up, finally moving from behind Nova to sit on the table in the middle of the room. One of the only pieces Derek owned beside two beds.

Isaac spoke as though that were meant to fill him with confidence but it had only done the exact opposite, it was better than Isaac being the one to come up with it, but it still wasn't fantastic. When it came to plans there was only one person around here that seemed to be half-decent at it and that was Stiles, and considering he wasn't in the room, he could only assume that he wouldn't be able to offer up an alternative plan to Boyd's. Despite his concern about the plan he was about to hear, Derek nodded, giving Boyd the signal to begin explaining.

The large wolf began explaining as he kneeled down to unzip his sports bag, he'd added more detail than when he had explained it to Kinsey and Isaac during the ride over here. This time, he recalled the time that Gerard had kidnapped him and Erica and tied them up using electrical wires, flowing the current through their body. Kinsey's skin was riddled with goosebumps as she listened to him talk about her grandfather and that night, though she had been unconscious for most of it, that night still left an uncomfortable feeling.

So far in Boyd's explanation, Derek seemed impressed, well on his way to agreeing to this elaborate plan. Boyd suggested that they do something similar to what Gerard had done to them, only on a larger scale as he pulled out all of the wires from his sports bag, enough to fill the entire loft. Then came the part Kinsey had been waiting for, the part where Boyd told Derek that it required filling his home with water.

Much to her surprise, Derek still wasn't opposed. He was about to ask how they planned on doing it until Boyd had pulled a hosepipe out of the bag, he had come fully prepared, he had been in the loft enough times to know that it had taps that he could use, and he'd noticed the lack of hose pipe, but he was sure his mother wouldn't miss it for tonight.

The four wasted no time connecting the pipe to the tap, beginning to flood the loft. All of them had to stand by idly as the water trickled over the floor. It would take all day to fill up a loft of this size, but they gathered they had all day to wait. Now that the two betas were out of school and Derek lacked an actual life, they had the time to waste. Everyone but Kinsey and Cora did.

Kinsey had been sitting on the kitchen counter watching the water when she'd gotten the phone call from Scott, as soon as she had placed the phone to her ear she'd been told she was on speaker with Stiles in the room. The fact that she had to be placed on speakerphone with Scott and Stiles was enough to tell her this may be a conversation too private for Isaac, Derek, and Boyd to hear so she jumped off the counter, moving to the furthest corner of the room which seemed like an acceptable distance from the wolves.

"Everything okay? Did something happen?" Kinsey asked in a hushed whisper.

"Where are you? Why are you whispering?"

"Why aren't you at school?" Stiles and Scott asked, overwhelming the girl with questions rather than answering her two, very simple questions.

"Derek's loft. Long story, I'll explain later. What happened?"

"Deaton's gone." Scott deadpanned.

"Gone? As in missing?"

"As in about to be a human sacrifice." Stiles corrected.

Kinsey ran her hand through her hair as she took a few more steps away from the group of wolves whose heads had looked in the girl's direction when the slight raise of her voice when she had said gone? but they all looked away when her voice had lowered again. All of them had assumed it was to do with Allison stealing her clothes, or something else that seemed girly and irrelevant. "What do we do? Does your dad know?" Kinsey asked, getting back on track, it was obvious why they called her, they needed to do something to stop Deaton from ending up like everyone else who'd gone missing. Scott's silence hadn't gone unnoticed, his boss was more of a father figure to him than his own father, this couldn't have been an easy revelation for him, and the fact none of them had thought about the person who heals most of the supernaturals in this town wasn't a good sign. Who else would slip under their noses and get sacrificed?

"Yeah. He's here right now."

"We have to tell him." Scott finally spoke up, clearly talking to Stiles about his father.

Stiles paused for a moment, comprehending what he had just heard while Kinsey bit her lip wondering whether this was about to be the first-ever argument she'd witnessed between the two best friends. Everything Stiles did on a daily basis was to stop his dad from getting roped into this life, the last thing he needed was to worry about the safety of his father because he knew too much, he'd seen what it had done to everyone around him. He'd been a first-hand witness to Scott and Melissa's troubles after he had showed her the truth. She and Allison had lost a mother because she was involved in all of this, to the point Allison ended up shipping herself to France for an entire summer. Lydia was finding dead people left right and center along with the help of Kinsey. All of those were reasons for him to disagree with telling his father.

"You mean like "tell him", tell him? Or tell him something else that isn't telling him what I think you want to tell him?" Stiles asked, in a very confusing way, but Kinsey and Scott had known the boy long enough to be able to work through that puzzle that was his mind.

"You know what I mean."

"You remember how your mom reacted? She didn't look you in the eye for, like, a week."

"And she got over it," Scott argued. "And it actually made us closer. Kinsey, help me out here."

Kinsey paused for a moment, thinking about where she stood in this argument. With that question she thought back on her life, imagining if things had played out differently, if her parents weren't the people they were, if they were normal, civilized humans, and she was still what she was now, would she have wanted them to be brought into it? Kinsey sighed loudly as she came to her conclusion.

Cora had come walking down the stairs at the sound of all the commotion, running water, Kinsey's voice in a low mumble, she could hear Isaac's voice too, which was a surprise to her after what happened last time he was here. As soon as she had seen the stressed-out girl in the corner of the room she had walked to approach her, but Kinsey quickly reassured her that she was fine, for now, nobody else needed to know about Deaton's disappearance. Instead, Kinsey suggested that the wolf headed to school without her, the wolf had already missed out on enough of her first day without having to wait even longer for Kinsey to finish flooding her older brother's loft. Cora was hesitant to leave the girl at first, she didn't like the look on Kinsey's face, she knew something was wrong, but Kinsey gave her that strong look of warning, insisting that she leave. A look even she couldn't argue with, which was why Derek agreed to give her a ride.

"I don't know." She answered simply. "I don't know if I'd want my dad to be brought into this. You know, if my dad wasn't Peter and all that."

"See. And she's an Angel, her whole existence is to apparently protect people. Come on, Scott. Look at him. He's completely overwhelmed as it is."

"He's overwhelmed because he has no clue what's happening," Scott argued his case again as the two listened intently. "He's got people dying in his town, the town that he's supposed to protect. And it's not his fault that he doesn't know what's happening. He's gonna find out sooner or later." The boy finished with an exasperated sigh, pressuring his best friend into telling his father hadn't been on his to-do list for today, or ever, but then again, neither had to have to create a plan to find his boss who may or may not be dead already.

"Okay, but is right now really the right time?"

"What if not telling him gets someone else killed?" Kinsey spoke up.

"What if telling him gets him killed, huh? I mean, okay, look, I get that Deaton's been like a father to you, Scott. I get that, okay? But this isn't... Scott, this is my actual father. I can't..." Stiles stammered, struggling to find the words. But he didn't need to say them for Kinsey to know what he meant, because once again if it were her, she'd probably be struggling to say it to. She knew what it felt like to lose a parent, even if that parent was Kate, the woman was still her mother and it still hurt. "I can't lose both of my parents, all right? Not both of them."

"You're right." Scott agreed.

With a sigh, Stiles disagreed. He knew he was being selfish, even though his best friends thought he had every right to be selfish, he couldn't be. And that's why he agreed. He would tell him.

Once the brunette felt like her job at Derek's was done, and neither Isaac nor Boyd wanted to back out and come to school Kinsey headed to begin her next mission of the day. Cora had already left half an hour prior to go to school, she was more eager than anyone expected her to be about being a teenage werewolf in Beacon Hills, but none of them thought to question it. Maybe in the past six years of being in South America, she had learned to like trying new things, even when Derek had opted to drive her to the school the brunette wolf had insisted that she could do it on her own. The independence thing didn't surprise them as much, they assumed that in the past few years she had become quite the expert of being independent.

While Kinsey had been making sure that the three wolves in the loft were fine without her constant supervision Scott and Stiles had been texting her with updates, it turned out that seconds after they had ended the phone call with her they'd exited their hiding place in Deaton's clinic only to run into the little sister they never knew he had. Kinsey knowing her better as her guidance counselor and French teacher, Miss Morrell. Just like Deaton she had been one for riddles and large unfamiliar words that turned out to be advice. Morrell's advice to the two boys had been the first step in trying to save Deaton. By using the two people that might have the ability to seek out the supernatural, she just happened to be one of them. The other? Lydia.

Kinsey, Scott, and Stiles were all on the hunt for their redhead friend as they walked through the halls. They'd met up at the main entrance for a split second to discuss how or where they might be able to find her before splitting up, wandering helplessly through the halls after realizing that none of them knew where to find Lydia.

The brunette girl had been on her search for a mere matter of seconds when the fire alarm had begun ringing in her ears, almost deafening her. But unlike everyone else who walked through the school halls she didn't turn towards the nearest exit, she charged through the stampede that was beginning to head her way, hoping that maybe Lydia would be in the midst of them.

"Come on Lydia, where the hell are you?" Kinsey mumbled in frustration as she shoved her way past the people trying to get out of the school, she received piercing looks as she walked through the crowd, and she was sure she had heard a comment about her mother setting fires, suggesting that wherever this one was, she'd been the one to light it. Comments like that would have stung before, but for some reason, they didn't anymore. Those people underestimated just how far back she'd pushed her mother into her mind.

Eventually, after making her way through all of the people the crowds became empty and the girl had met a crossroad in the halls, running straight into Stiles. Both of them shook their heads agreeing that neither had been able to find Lydia yet, the two then turned their heads to the left where the door to the locker room stood. Stiles thought it was unlikely that they'd find Lydia in the boy's sweaty locker room, but with their desperation, it wouldn't hurt to try. Kinsey however knew that Coach's office was Lydia and Aiden's hook-up spot, and almost everyone else's.

As soon as they walked in Stiles headed to the shower area to search for the girl, he wasn't sure why that was the first place he thought to look in here, but once again, their desperation had gotten the best of him. Kinsey on the other hand went straight to the door that connected the locker room to Coach's office, he always seemed to forget to lock that one, making her life and all the teenagers who hooked up in there, a lot easier.

Kinsey swung the door open to find Cora with her hand latched around Lydia's wrist, tightly.

"I said..." Lydia threatened.

"Let go." Kinsey finished before her redhead best friend had the chance. "Let go, Cora."

It only took that warning from the brunette for the Hale wolf to do as she was told, if it had been anyone else, even her brother, they would have got a full set of wolf canines in their face to pair with her golden yellow eyes. But once again, not Kinsey.

Stiles guided the three girls to the nearest empty classroom ready to initiate his plan on getting Kinsey and Lydia to find Deaton, he hadn't given the redhead much of an explanation considering she was one of the people he was experimenting on. Even Cora had been given a better explanation of what was happening, but then she had been given her explanation from Kinsey, not Stiles who was his usual frantic self. He had charged ahead of them with Lydia to find the empty room, he tried to keep a distance between the redhead who almost had her throat ripped out, and the wolf who was going to be the one doing the ripping. If he knew anything at all about the Hale's, it was that they always seemed to go for the throat.

Once the three girls had taken a seat at one of the desks Stiles pulled something out of his bag, slamming it in front of them. Before saying anything the three girls looked at one another questioning if they were really looking at a Ouija board right now.

"Seriously?" Kinsey asked.

"A Ouija board?" Lydia deadpanned.

Cora took a simpler approach, a roll of the eyes.

"It's a spirit board. And it's worth a shot."

"A shot in the dark," Lydia mumbled.

"Would you just try it please, okay? Let's not forget who this is for." Stiles pleaded with them he knew that Kinsey wouldn't be able to say no to that, Deaton had helped her a lot, even in just the past few days when he had told her about what she was. And then again when she had taken his offer on getting things under control. "Scott's boss, the guy who has saved our collective asses on more than one occasion." He continued, that was a fact the girls couldn't argue against. If it weren't for Deaton Isaac would have never have been able to resurface his repressed memories and help them to find Cora. Lydia, well, Deaton's work hadn't been so personal, but she could still appreciate just how much help the man had given all of them.

"Okay." Cora nodded, the first to have some faith in this stupid plan of Stiles'. Kinsey wasn't sure what was more surprising, the fact that Cora was actually speaking to Stiles rather than growling at him, or that she had agreed to participate. "So, do we all do this?"

Stiles agreed, being the first to place his hand on the planchette, the girls following one-by-one. Lydia had been the last, the most hesitant, and the one with the least faith that this would work, unless since she had slept last night they had entered some kind of horror film. Then again, after Glen Capri, it wasn't exactly a reach. He hadn't wasted time after all of their hands had been placed on the planchette, he jumped straight into his first question- Where's Dr. Deaton? There was no beating around the bush this afternoon. They didn't have the time to beat around the bush when a man's life was literally on the line.

He waited a few seconds before looking up at the two girls waiting for an answer, with every second that passed Cora became more confused, she was still new to how this thing with Lydia and Kinsey worked, they were all quite new to it. Nobody had quite figured out how it worked, not even Deaton knew that much. His help was much more focused on the protective shield she had managed to make in Glen Capri, and the "aura" she was expected to radiate. Of course, that meant that a werewolf had to be in the room every time, waiting for a change, it was no surprise that Isaac had been the one to volunteer himself for that task.

Stiles and Cora waited a little longer, they thought one of them would have said something by now, or even flinched, but they were as calm as ever. Kinsey's lips were pouted as she waited for something to happen, a voice, a chair flying across the room, she would take anything other than silence right now but that was all they were getting.

It took a while for the girl who was supposedly a genius to notice that the two of them were being stared at when she muttered a blunt "what?"

"Aren't you gonna answer it?" He finally asked, Kinsey finally opening her eyes.

"Oh, I don't know the answer. I thought we were asking some sort of spirit."

"Well, do you know any spirits?" Cora questioned, not putting past either of them.

Lydia paused for a moment, scrunching up her face as she looked between Stiles and Cora, and then to Kinsey considering she seemed to have a unique relationship with the Hale wolf, she seemed to be the only one that understood Cora so far. Maybe that was some kind of connection that their shared blood gave them. The redhead couldn't help but ask Kinsey if Cora was being for real when she asked about the spirits, which she was, this whole thing about the two girls finding dead bodies was something she hadn't quite had time to read up about, or even to receive another explanation about. Stiles seemed to be the only one who thought that spirits weren't necessarily a bad thought. Especially after what Kinsey and Lydia had said they'd heard at Glen Capri, spirits didn't seem exactly out of reach.

After their failed attempt at the Ouija board, Stiles turned to his next plan, psychometry. He pulled out Deaton's keys for the animal clinic from his pocket, instructing Lydia to place them in her hand and try to feel for where Deaton might be, to try and sense his location. Next would be Kinsey's turn, between them both at least one of them had to feel something, see something. The three girls had had little faith in the whole Ouija board experiment, but this, this was a new level. Neither could quite figure out how keys were going to help them find the man, but if Stiles had faith in it then they believed that they had to as well, he was the second smartest person in the room. Though if he were honest, he hadn't heard the word himself until he had seen the page of the bestiary, listing all of the things that Angels were known to be capable of.

Because of that, it seemed worth a shot testing both of the girls with psychometry. For all they knew Lydia could be of the same species as Kinsey, it was something yet to be confirmed. As soon as Stiles had said the word "psychometry" Lydia insisted that she wasn't psychic, that they knew, but that was about the extent of their knowledge when it came to what she could do. Stiles was beginning to get stressed as he let the keys dangle from his finger, looking at the girl with narrow eyes, her stubbornness really could be grating.

"You're something!" Stiles shouted in frustration. While Cora rolled her eyes at him, yet again, Kinsey buried her head in her hands becoming just as frustrated by not knowing where Deaton was. She felt like she could hear the ticking of a clock in her head, the clock of Deaton's life. "Just... Lydia put out your hand and..." The boy was lost for words after becoming too flustered for him to process and speak an actual sentence, but Lydia got the point as she held out her hands and closed her eyes ready to try this insane psychometry theory he'd roped her into.

"Ooh."

"What?" Kinsey blurted out, a glimmer of hope as she sat upright. "Are you getting something?"

"No, they're just cold."

Stiles and Cora shared the same look, a twitch in the boy's eye. They'd never wanted to kill anyone before, but right now it was certainly becoming a possibility, she wasn't the easiest person to work with at the best of times. But now, she really was a struggle.

"Lydia, concentrate. Please. Trying to save lives here. For the love of God."

The redhead did as she was told, closing her eyes again as she tightly closed the keys in her palm, moving them gently as she tried to concentrate. Hoping to unlock whatever it was that had unlocked at Glen Capri, or when she'd found one of the sacrifices at the pool. Normally it would be the very thing she would try to avoid but as Stiles had pointed out, they were trying to save lives, and Deaton had saved their asses multiple times, even if she hadn't always known it. Kinsey, Cora, and Stiles all watched closely as they waited for something to happen. It seemed as though they were getting somewhere as Lydia's nose began to scrunch again but when they asked her what she could see the redhead opened her eyes again, sighing as she told them that she saw nothing. Nothing but darkness.

After that failed attempt Stiles didn't have the patience to try the same thing with Kinsey, he moved straight onto the next thing on his list; automatic writing. Cora pulled out two notebooks and pencils from her bag because it was the one thing Stiles hadn't brought to school, yet he'd brought an Ouija board. She had Kinsey to thank for her own preparation.

By now the three girls sat in a row had lost complete faith in any of the ideas Stiles was pulling out of his head, but right now, they didn't have any other leads.

Cora held out the pencils for the two girls who looked between it and her, questioning if she really thought that this was going to help, which, of course, she didn't and it wasn't something she was able to hide as she simply shrugged. Kinsey and Lydia took the pencils and immediately began scribbling on the pages in front of her causing the three to watch her closely again, waiting to see what came out of it. It didn't take long for another wave of confusion to pass over them. The brunette huntress had begun drawing what looked to be a moth, the redhead, a leafless tree. Just to confirm what they were seeing Stiles asked what exactly they were drawing, neither left room for interpretation as they blurted out the words moth and tree. This time Cora was the one to bury her head in her hands, wondering what she had gotten herself into by befriending that huntress cousin of hers.

"Stiles, calm down before you pop a blood vessel," Kinsey warned. "We're trying. If you haven't noticed neither of us has any idea what we're doing. Just because Deaton claims that I'm some kind of Angel and that I might be capable of all these magical things, it doesn't mean I am."

"You're supposed to be writing words. Sentences. A location. Something that would tell us where the hell Deaton is. Not a frickin' nature"

"Well, maybe you should have said that." Lydia snapped at the boy.

"I thought you said she was some kind of genius?" Cora asked, towards Kinsey.

"Genius, yes. Psychic, no." Lydia deadpanned. "Honestly, I don't know why you're bothering with me anyway. Especially when it's obvious you should be talking to Danny."

"What? Why Danny?"

"Because last night, he was a target." A voice came from the door, raising the heads of the teenagers in the room to see Scott standing in the doorway with a hand placed over his shoulder, blood seeping through the gaps in his fingers. "But he wasn't a sacrifice."

Allison had been the first of the pack to find anything they could use.
With a single text to Scott, the entire plan that they had quickly devised had changed. Only when Kinsey read the message on the wolf's phone did she understand why Allison had still been at home when she had left, she hadn't ever had the intention of going to school today, she knew that she would be searching her dad's office in hopes to find something. Until she had opened the apartment door to find Isaac stood on the opposite side she had intended on Kinsey helping her in the task, but she knew that her cousin's assistance was needed elsewhere. She could manage it alone, and she had.

Originally, all of them planned on ambushing Danny at the hospital, following him as the lead, but now that Allison claimed to have found something it was clear they would be splitting up. It seemed predictable how the pack would split at first. Scott and Kinsey, considering she lived at the apartment, and considering Kinsey was going there they had all assumed Cora would follow, even if they were going to the apartment of a hunter family. But that wasn't how things panned out. Cora surprised everyone when she opted to join Lydia and Stiles's group instead, though taken aback by her joining the team neither the redhead nor the boy complained about having the strength of a werewolf behind them. If Danny was a target who knew what could be lingering around the halls of the hospitals, and with Scott running into Deucalion in the hospital before, another run-in was in the cards for the pack. Whether it was the McCall wolf or someone else searching for answers this afternoon.

When the two arrived at the apartment Kinsey had walked straight in, announcing herself before Allison started going into a full-fledged panic at the thought of Chris coming home and catching her searching through his office, it wouldn't be the first time that the two of them had done it, though before they were six and looking for their Gameboys. Kinsey held open the door for the wolf behind her, he lingered in the doorway for a moment, slightly nervous about stepping into the home of Chris Argent, it had never gone well before. He expected the same from today, even if the man had helped them with Cora and Boyd they still weren't on good terms. Kinsey turned to the wolf with raised brows, largely gesturing for him to walk through the door. What was going on with the werewolves today? Was there a full moon that she wasn't aware of? Allison walked out into the hallway, after waiting for what felt like too long for either of them to walk into the room she felt the need to come and see what all of the hold up was. Out of all the things that it could have been she hadn't expected to find the two of them just stood in the doorway doing nothing. Time was of the essence here, a man was missing and Chris had been gone since this morning, who knew when he would be coming back expecting them to be at school.

"Scott." Kinsey waved her hand in front of his face. "What are you waiting for? Christmas?"

The wolf shook off his fear of being murdered by his ex-girlfriend's father and his best friend's uncle and stepped into the apartment, the two following Allison into her bedroom at the end of the hallway. "So I was looking through one of his drawers and I found this-" Allison explained, holding a UV light in her hands as she talked.

Within seconds of them stepping into the room they'd heard the elevator ping from just outside the front door, all of them collectively turning their heads towards the sound, a panic filling all of them. They hadn't known when Chris was supposed to be back, but they hadn't thought it would be so soon, usually when he left the apartment he was gone for hours on end. Even now was much too quick for his usual disappearances.

"What do we do? Where do we go?" Scott asked, flustered as his eyes darted around the room for a hiding spot.

Without a word of explanation, Allison opened the door to her closet, shoving the wolf inside of it as well as herself. Kinsey had already dropped to the floor, rolling under the bed as her hiding spot. There was no way all three of them would be able to hide in Allison's small closet. Scott's back was pressed against the rail of Allison's closet, Allison's against the door. They hadn't been this close to one another since they were together, it felt like a lifetime ago since that. Since she had come back to town it was only the second time that the two of them had been alone, now and when he had specifically warned her to stay away from the mall that night, of course, she never did stay away. In those two times, they hadn't spoken about what Allison had wanted to when she'd given him that note the first day back at school, it never seemed like the right time. Scott opened his mouth to talk but before a word slipped out Allison pressed a finger against his lips, shaking her head as a warning. When she'd realized what she'd done she quickly snatched her hand back, placing it back to her side as she averted her eyes from the wolf's.

They could hear as Chris moved around the apartment, fiddling around in his office, putting them under even more pressure to stay silent as the two looked at one another again. Allison's face suddenly dropped when she felt something that she didn't think she shouldn't be thinking, and Scott felt it too as he tried not to look at the girl pressed against him, there couldn't have been worse timing for it to happen. There had been a million more times when this would have been more appropriate, but no, it had to happen now. And Allison couldn't keep quiet.

"What are you doing?" She whispered softly.

"Nothing," Scott whispered back, shaking his head.

"Part of you is doing something," Allison said with slight humor lacing her whisper. The wolf finally looked at her as she raised an eyebrow, a small smile washed across her face as he looked between her and the lack of space between them. He'd never hated the male body more than he had right now. It had betrayed him. Put him in the most awkward position he'd ever been in.

"Oh." He mumbled, not sure what else to say. "Sorry."

Scott tried to shift around slightly, hoping to create some space between them, but instead, he'd made it worse by rubbing against the girl who couldn't wipe the smile off of her face. Scott wasn't sure what he hated more, his body, or Allison for putting them in the tightest space in existence. It was as if the universe had something against him.

"Stop," Allison warned him, but it was hard to take her seriously when she had a smile on her face, a face that was just inches away from his, which certainly wasn't help. It stirred up thoughts that were usually useful in situations, but right now, it couldn't have been more unwanted.

"I kind of don't have control over that."

"Okay, well, let me turn around." She suggested, still using a hushed voice.

While she tried to turn as best as she could Scott breathed in, attempting to create some room for her to do so and to try and get rid of his problem. Once she was finally turned around her face was pressed against the closet door, with Scott pressed against her back.

"Allison," Scott whispered in her ear.

"What?"

"That's worse." He said through a smile, unable to contain himself anymore.

Neither could Allison as her grin returned. She couldn't hold in the laughter any longer as she covered her mouth to muffle the sound. The wolf warned her to shush while he tried not to laugh himself, maybe this wasn't as awkward as he thought. This had once been normal for them when Chris didn't know about their relationship when it was still fresh, uncomplicated, and fun before it all turned to dust. There wasn't any reason for it to be awkward now. With her hand still over her mouth, Allison turned back around to face the wolf, she tried to keep her eyes off of him and onto his chest knowing that if she looked at him she might erupt into laughter once again. When her laughter had died down Kinsey looked up, staring straight into Scott's chocolate brown eyes that were already staring at her, a flutter in her stomach.

Before either of them knew it they were inching closer, Allison's hand was working her way up to hold the boy's cheek, they knew that it wasn't the best timing for what they were about to do, but somehow, it felt right. As the two leaned in Scott lost his balance, falling back into the rail of clothes, pulling Allison with him as he tried to regain his balance, pushing off of the wall in the back of Allison's closet to do so. When the two were stood back on two feet again Scott's arm was wrapped around the girl's waist, now their bodies were closer than ever as the girl's head rested on his chest, her hand covering her mouth to muffle her breathing.

Both panicked as they looked at one another, wondering if Argent had heard the noise. Thankfully, all they heard was the sound of the front door closing once again as Argent left the apartment. Allison wasted no time stepping out of the closet as Kinsey crawled back up from under her cousin's bed, all four of them sharing a look with one another. Kinsey had noticed that the two of them had a guilty look across her face, she recognized that look, after all, in the times when the two were together, she was their cover and their lookout. She knew that look better than anyone else did. But she didn't have time to ask, before she knew it her hand was intertwined with Allison's as the older brunette dragged her towards the office to continue her explanation of what she had found.

"See this map?" Allison asked as they all looked down at it. "Last time we were in here talking, my dad put a book over it. There was something about the way he did it. It was like he was trying to cover it." She explained, Kinsey hadn't thought too much about it until now, but now she remembered how cryptic Chris had been acting, sometimes she forgot what came out last time he used to act like that, how a huge family secret infiltrated their lives.

"I don't see anything," Scott admitted.

"Yeah, you can't until you use this." Allison followed as she held up the UV light again before hovering it over the map, suddenly crosses, circles and squares began popping up on the map, marking things. "He's been tracking and marking everything. Cora and Boyd at the bank, the office in the penthouse above us, all of the dead bodies. He has a symbol for where someone was taken, and then a different mark for where the bodies are found, see?" She continued, the two nodded as they followed along with her explanation. "Now here's the scary part. There have been six sacrifices, right? There are 12 markings on the map."

"What?" Kinsey mumbled, looking back down at the map. "What does that mean?"

"Did your dad find other bodies and not tell anyone?" Scott asked.

"I don't think so." Allison shook her head. "I think he knows where the bodies are going to be found, so one of the six locations, one of these is where Deaton could end up. It doesn't tell us where he's being kept right now, but..."

"But it's close to figuring it out." Scott finished the huntresses' sentence.

Allison nodded in agreement as the wolf pulled out his phone, taking a picture of the map while she held over the UV light so he could see all of the markings that Chris had made. As the camera took the shot the elevator bell dinged again, causing them all to look up how they had a few minutes ago, this time, they didn't have a bed or closet to hide in. Once again, Allison hadn't told them what she was doing before she was shoving all of them out of the room and into Kinsey's. Kinsey and the wolf pressed themselves against the wall, waiting for Chris to walk past as soon as he had, that was when Kinsey knew it was her chance to sneak the two of them out of the apartment.

Scott listened as Argent opened the door to his office, looking in there first to find it empty before he walked past the room they were hiding in and straight to Allison's room, opening her bedroom door to find her on her bed, studying. While Argent's back faced the hallway Scott nodded at Kinsey, signaling that it was time for them to make their escape, he took her hand before the two of them began tip-toeing out of the apartment, holding their breaths. The most unfortunate part of their plan was having to take the stairs, they couldn't have the elevator dinging, Chris would expect to see his niece walk through the door moments later.

As soon as they were out of the apartment Scott was dialing Stiles's phone number to tell them what Allison had found, she stood beside the wolf with her ear pressed against the phone as the two exchanged their information. Scott explained Allison's findings, though he wasn't sure how they would be able to get to all of them fast enough, which was where Stiles's findings came in.

"We might not have to. Danny was doing a project on something for Mr. Harris' physics class, and I think it actually means something."

"What project?" Kinsey asked, pulling the phone slightly towards her.

"Something on telluric currents."

"Did you say currents?" Scott asked, as soon as Stiles agreed something had clicked. "Meet us at the animal clinic, now."

Five teenagers gathered around the surgical table in the middle of the animal clinic, across it was a series of papers; Danny's homework, a map that Stiles found in Danny's bag, and the map that they found in Chris's office. Between the five of them, none knew what was happening at the loft at this very moment, they were unaware that the fight had already broken out and there were multiple lives on the line. Nobody had informed them.

Derek stood ahead of his two betas, one on either side of him. The two betas felt uneasy as they waited to be head-on with Kali and the two wolves who would be standing beside her the way that they were for Derek. The only difference? They were Alphas, strong ones at that. With their enhanced hearing they had heard the three Alphas approaching the door of the loft, they hadn't tried to be discreet, their warning had already been left with their mark on Derek's window, there was no need for subtlety now. Hearing the wolves approaching had given the three belonging to the Hale pack the chance to stand up tall in the water that flooded the loft, but no amount of pride in their stance would give them the confidence they all needed to go through with this. They knew the three Alphas in front of them weren't ones to shy away from a fight, the mall proved that, and it proved they didn't care about shedding blood, especially not now one of their own had been killed in their last battle. Now, they had more purpose than just recruiting another Alpha to their ranks.

Kali swung the loft door open, the thud of it colliding with the tracks it rested on had sounded a loud bang throughout the entire loft. Her long black toenails entered the loft before she did, her eyes were glowing their demonic read, clearly, she was prepared to jump straight into the fight, the one that Ethan had so generously warned them about. Surprisingly, Kali stood alone.

"Gonna be honest, Derek. When Ennis died, I thought to myself I'd just go for it. Find you and kill you, wherever you stood. Then I remembered how you surround yourself with these teenagers, hiding behind them." Kali announced hauntingly, looking between the two teenagers that stood slightly in the shadows of their Alpha. Frankly, she thought there would be more than just two teenagers defending Derek, she'd prepared herself for a much larger battle. She had definitely anticipated seeing the brunette teenage girl who always seemed to find herself in the middle of these things, she'd heard a lot about that girl, thanks to Deucalion. She was just another one that the Alpha pack had been told to look out for, and she was just another that Kali failed to see what all of the fuss was about. She was a small fragile human girl with some hunting skills.

But that didn't matter, the fewer teenagers meant that this fight was going to be even easier than she was already anticipating it to be. "And I thought to myself. What has a girl got to do to get you alone?" Kali asked with a smirk on her face, apparently, she had found her answer.

With that same smirk she turned to the doorway where the twins appeared, their eyes weren't glowing the steel-blue that Isaac had become used to seeing after their run-ins, unlike Kali the two of them weren't so prepared for a fight, maybe, they didn't even want to fight at all. Despite that, Ethan and Aiden didn't stand alone but with a particular brunette, Derek's latest lover, Jennifer Blake. Her throat was almost impaled by the claws of Aiden, ready to tear out her throat if it was deemed necessary by the Alpha leading tonight's fight.

"You and me, Derek, or they tear her apart." Kali offered. "What do you say? Think you can beat me one-on-one?" She asked, tapping her long toenails against the concrete flooring.

Derek nodded, turning to his betas to dismiss them, they would know when it was their time to join in, if it was deemed necessary, they hoped not. Kali's toenails had been staring into their souls since she walked in. As the two betas moved aside, out of the water that had become useless in an entire building deprived of its electricity. Derek stepped forward with his own line to say before the fight began, usually, it was one he used on a particular pair of teenagers who annoyed him beyond humane possibility, but this time he meant when he said "𝐈'𝐦 𝐠𝐨𝐧𝐧𝐚 𝐫𝐢𝐩 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐫𝐨𝐚𝐭 𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐦𝐲 𝐭𝐞𝐞𝐭𝐡."

For the two who hadn't been at the hospital, or even in the car during the ride from the hospital Stiles explained the homework that he had found in Danny's bag, a project on the geomagnetic fields that flowed through the Earth, even affected by the lunar phases. He pointed out a note written at the top of the paper written in bright red by a now-dead Mr. Harris. "I strongly advise you to choose another subject. The ideas here, while innovative and thoughtful, border on pseudo-science. Not suitable for the class." As Lydia read out to them, saving the energies of the two who'd arrived late to this little party.

From that, Scott was able to recognize something that neither he nor any of them had before. Mr. Harris wasn't just a sacrifice, he knew something. Stiles moved to his next point, the map that accompanied Danny's paper. While Chris's map had marked all of the areas that had been found or taken, the paper that Danny had marked highlighted all of the telluric currents.

"The weird thing about Beacon Hills is that it actually is a beacon. You wouldn't believe how much energy flowing through this Earth is around this town." Stiles explained.

"Stiles, look, they match," Scott said as he placed Chris's map alongside Danny's.

"All right, there are three places, right? Where they're kidnapped, and then the place where the body is found." Kinsey explained as Scott circled all of the markings on the map, showing them to the three who hadn't accompanied them on their little mission in her uncle's office. Kinsey looked around the table at Stiles and the two girls to make sure they were keeping up to speed, all of the telluric currents/sacrifice business wasn't easy to keep up with, at least not for her.

"Look, that's right on a telluric current." Lydia spotted, pointing at one of the markings.

"So, maybe where he was sacrificed is somewhere in between."

Stiles took the pen from Scott as he tried to figure out where all of the other people were on the map, he began crossing off the other six bodies until a hand stopped his, Kinsey's. She'd figured it out first as she guided his hands to the middle point. The point where Deaton had to be. Of course, it would be there. Of course, everything led back to it.

"He's in the vault. He's in the same vault." Kinsey mumbled as she looked up at him, all heads turning to Cora, the girl who had been kept in that very vault.

Immediately, the five began packing up all of the things that had been laid out on the table, prepared to collectible head to the vault and save Deaton before it was too late. If it wasn't already too late. Just as they were about to rush out of the door of the animal clinic with the maps and Danny's homework in their arms the redhead stopped, noticing that she lacked a particular brunette best friend of hers, beside her stood the one that she had walked in with, but not the one who had since joined them. She turned to see Kinsey standing looking down at her phone with a worried look across her face, and it wasn't like her usual look of worry, which she wore quite often lately. It was that nauseous look of worry like they had seen her wear at Glen Capri, usually accompanied with the feeling of her heart in her stomach. Lydia quickly told the two boys who were rushing ahead to hold on for a moment, Cora had already moved to peer over Kinsey's shoulder, reading the text message she hadn't taken her eyes off of.

"Lydia, we don't have time." Scott shook his head until he turned to see that same look across Kinsey's face, one that Cora now mirrored.

"It's Isaac," Kinsey mumbled, suddenly, he was willing to listen. "The plan didn't work."

Suddenly that worry that the two brunette Hale's felt was a mutual feeling for all five of them, they all looked at Scott, waiting to hear what their next move would be, they had two choices in front of them, with both of them came the chance of someone getting hurt, maybe even dying. He mumbled a sentence to himself, none of the four who stared at him quite knew what he meant by it. "It's just like he said." The wolf said before looking back at them with a clear order in mind. The four of them would go to the loft to help Derek, Isaac, and Boyd while he went to the vault to hopefully find and save Deaton. He didn't like the idea of leaving the four of them to walk straight into a fight, but if there was anyone who could navigate through this it had to be the four of them, it was the best backup Derek could ask for. With Lydia and Stiles's brains, his sister to act as some more brawns in the fight, and Kinsey who amongst a lot of Angel-related abilities, had some mean fighting skills up her sleeve.

The four he had instructed wasn't quite comfortable with the thought either, well, at least not the two humans who had no faith in themselves in a fight, they had never really been in one before, at least not to this extent. Cora and Kinsey had the experience of the mall, they knew just how scary the Alpha pack could be, currently, they were just basing their thoughts off of stories that they had heard, terrifying stories. But they had no other choice but to split.

Stiles and Lydia sat at the front of the Jeep, driving the two brunettes who sat in the back to the loft as quickly as possible, neither of them had spoken a word since leaving the clinic, in fact, nobody had. The two in the front seats had been exchanging worried looks every few seconds, not only because they worried for their lives now they were about to walk into a fight. But they were worried about just how much was at stake. Ethan had been clear, Derek needed to kill his betas in order to join the Alpha pack, not only did that mean they had two more people to lose, but Isaac was one of them. Stiles was less concerned for Isaac himself, and more so the girl that had recently been connected to him, Kinsey had lost enough in her life, she didn't need to add him to the list. And if Derek didn't kill his beta's, he lost his own life, resulting in yet another death that nobody needed nor wanted. Kinsey couldn't lose a cousin, Cora couldn't lose her brother. All they could do was try and stop it.

Stiles looked in the rearview mirror at Kinsey whose hands were tightly gripped around her phone, staring at the black screen hoping to see it light up with a text from Isaac that they had somehow averted everything, somehow the plan had been put back in motion and with a little fighting, they had won against the Alphas. He then looked at Cora who sat beside her, staring blankly at her lap with a lot less hope of something good than Kinsey. That was the Hale in her, Hale's weren't hopeful, that seemed to be one of the few differences between them.

With more determination to get to the loft than ever Stiles pressed the pedal to the metal, he had had enough speeding tickets in his life, another one wasn't going to hurt, he was sure his dad already had a huge collection of unpaid tickets in his office drawers anyway.

Kali and Derek continued their fight, the female Alpha clearly winning, though nobody on Derek's side wanted to admit it to themselves. She stood on the table, using its height to her advantage as she kicked Derek across the room, throwing him into the water. As Derek turned, not ready to give up she jumped from her place, kicking him once again until he had spun around, slamming against the floor once again.

"Derek!" Jennifer screamed, her voice cracking from the tears.

Just as Derek had taken back the upper hand, dodging every hit that Kali tried to throw at him his guard slipped allowing her to kick him in the chest, throwing him back into the water. Right at the feet of the two who were waiting for their chance to fight.

The four teenagers barged into Derek's building, already out of breath. The entire building was in complete darkness, it was clear to them that that was how the plan had failed, the Alpha's had cut off the electricity making Boyd's wires completely useless. All four of them stopped in the reception area of the building, looking around desperately for the electric room, in all the times that Kinsey and Cora had been in the loft, neither had bothered to look, it had never seemed necessary. They had enough exploring of the building when having to walk up the million flights of stairs like they would all be doing as soon as they restored the electricity.

"Kinsey, go! We'll handle this." Cora yelled at the brunette.

She didn't need to be told again, she had already begun rushing up the stairs with every ounce of energy inside of her body while the other three rushed around the surprisingly large reception area to search for the electricity room, it was a small room hidden beneath the staircase. The three of them piled into the small space staring up at the wall filled with switches, it was safe to say they hadn't been expecting that sight. They thought it may have been a single switch, or something a lot simpler than what was in front of them, there were no labels, nothing to tell them which was the right one. Lydia and Cora began pulling each and every one of them while Stiles pulled out his phone texting Isaac, a message that was loud and clear. NOW.

Isaac looked up from his phone, he nodded at Boyd, giving him the signal before he rushed straight through the water heading towards Jennifer. The sight of the beta had told the twins that it was their time to get involved in the fight too, something was about to happen. As soon as Isaac had hopped out of the water, grabbing ahold of a woman who he thought of as nothing more as his English teacher until tonight, the water had become electrified, just before either of the twins had stepped foot in it. Boyd had barely touched the water but he, along with the two fighting Alphas all felt the pulsating of electricity through their bodies as they all dropped to the floor, weakened for a moment. Some more than others.

Kali was able to stand up a lot sooner than anyone else was. She was a lot stronger than the two on the ground, Boyd was affected most by the pulsating of electricity through his veins, he knew when he had created this plan that it would be strong, a lot stronger than what he had felt at the hands of Gerard, but he thought that he might have been able to fight it and build up enough strength to stand, even that was a task too hard.

"Take him!" Kali ordered the twins.

The twins were able to step into the water, reaching Derek without trouble. After pulsating through three werewolves it had short-circuited, allowing them free access to Derek, unaffected by the wires that remained in the water. Kali pulled a weakened Boyd off of the ground as if he shared the same weight as a feather, to her, he was nothing more than that in his moment of weakness. Isaac remained in the doorway with his arms wrapped around Miss Blake as she watched the scenes in front of her with horror, as did he.

Derek struggled to fight off the twins as they raised his hands, he and everyone else in the room could see what was coming. Kali had chosen the option of killing his beta, forcing him to join their pack before she followed through the route of killing him. Ethan and Aiden held up either of Derek's hands up high, Kali holding Boyd in front of him.

An out of breath Kinsey rushed to the doorway of the loft where she was met with the sight of her English teacher in the arms of Isaac, but her attention on the two of them last a mere matter of seconds as she turned her head towards the four Alphas in the middle of the room, looking at Boyd who Kali held up in the air.

It felt like time had slowed down, and yet somehow, it had gone so fast that she had run out of time. A horrified scream left her mouth as she watched Kali drop her friend onto the claws of his Alpha, impaling his chest, forcing every drop of life out of him, so casual, yet so cruel. As soon as the deed was done, time resumed as Kinsey rushed through the water, she didn't care if it could have electrocuted her or not.

Kali and the twins stepped away from the mess that they had made, beginning to walk towards the exit, while Ethan and Aiden had their backs turned to the crime that they had committed Kali looked at the brunette sobbing on the top of Boyd's body with a smirk across her face. The brunette she had expected came after all, and what a brilliant sight it was. It was something she would never forget. It would be a triumphant moment that if she had the chance, she would frame and hang it on the wall of her home for the remainder of her life. The night that Ennis had been avenged, the night she had brought down a pack, the night she had gotten to see a hunter lay over the body of her dead werewolf friend. Tonight would be a night to remember.

"I'm giving you until the next full moon, Derek. Make the smart choice." Kalia announced as she walked toward Isaac and Jennifer sat in the doorway, both of them with wide tearful eyes, unable to speak a word over the death they had witnessed. "Join the pack. Or next time I'm killing all of you." She said as her final words, looking straight into the eyes of the brunette girl who had looked up at her for a split second as she continued to sob over Boyd's body.

As soon as the three Alphas were out of sight Kinsey turned back to the dying wolf who lay in her lap, Derek was still on his knees beside her, he too had been left speechless as he looked at the blood on his hands. He had shed blood times before, even his own family, but nothing hurt him the way that this did. For him, this would be a night to remember too, but not for the triumphant reasons that Kali had.

"I can stop this. I can do something." Kinsey sobbed as she applied pressure to Boyd's bleeding wound, the life had already begun fading out of his eyes as he looked past the girl attempting to keep that last bit of life inside of him and straight to his Alpha. "How do I do this? I don't know how to do this. Come on." The brunette mumbled to herself, hoping that something would spark in her as it did at Glen Capri, something, anything that would manage to salvage Boyd's life, she didn't care what it took, she just needed something to happen. "Come on." The brunette muttered under her breath as tears wept from her eyes, waiting for that spark to show itself.

"It's okay," Boyd mumbled, reassuring the Alpha who looked at him solemnly.

"No, no. No, it's not. It's not." Derek shook his head, tears in his eyes. "I'm sorry."

"The full moon. That feeling. It was worth it." The beta continued, a slight smile across his face, even in his dying moments. "Did you know it was the lunar eclipse? I always wondered what... What that felt like for one of us... For a werewolf."

His voice croaked as he said those last words, he never got to feel that feeling that he craved so much, the thing he looked forward to experiencing as a werewolf, not only for himself but for the friend that he had lost. He wanted to feel that feeling for them, and now, that chance had been snatched right from his claws. Boyd's breath slowed to a stop, his eyes closing as he lay dead in the lap of the brunette who had failed him, if only she had been a little quicker she could have done that same thing she had done at Glen Capri, she could have saved him. If only she hadn't been so adamant on leaving them to go to school, as if there was any point in her trying to get an education as if her life were so simple. If she hadn't, she could have been here and saved him from this. None of them would have had to feel the pain of losing someone. Another painful sob escaped the brunette as she rested her head on his chest. She had once hoped to change things, to prove to Boyd and Erica that she wasn't like the Argent name that had been created for her and Allison. This wasn't how she wanted it to happen, this was never supposed to happen.

Stiles, Lydia, and Cora had heard the scream of the brunette echo through the building as they ran up the staircase, it had only powered the female wolf on more as she ran ahead of them, Stiles had tried to rush ahead too, but his speed was nothing compared to a werewolf. And Lydia's was nothing while she ran up a metal staircase in heels. As soon as Cora had reached the door, she had seen her friend laying in the lap of her cousin, her brother staring at his blood-stained hands. Her heart stopped in her chest as she rushed to Boyd's side in disbelief that she had lost a friend, she had already witnessed Erica's death, and now she had lost Boyd too.

When Lydia finally reached the door she was met with the final pieces of the battle.

Isaac and Miss Blake are in the doorway. Stiles stood beside Derek, a hand on his shoulder.
Cora with Boyd in her arms. Kinsey sat with her hands in her hair. They'd failed. Once again.
