Working in the medical field is a tough career, it takes a certain type of person to do it. Luckily for you, you happen to be one of those unique individuals with the time, patience, and talent for taking care of others. Every day you come into work with a smile on your face.
Making sure to leave your worries, troubles, etc, at the door. You've always kept your work life and your home life completely separate. Never mixing the troubles of one or the other. However, that soon changed when a certain woman entered your life.
She is hauntingly gorgeous, with her snow-kissed tresses. Skin so fair and delicate it rivals even the most beautiful of flowers. Yet her eyes are dull, reflecting just how broken she is. They're grey in color, and you can't help but wonder how much they'd sparkle if she wasn't in this state.
Rei Todoroki, mother of four. Three surviving children, one deceased, wife of the number two hero Endeavor. Looking over her chart, Dr. Y/n L/n studied up on the lovely lady. By looking at her, one wouldn't assume anything was wrong but that wasn't the case.
Oh no, there were many demons locked away within her heart, mind, soul. All brought upon her thanks to selfish people. First, her family, they were the ones to sell her to him. Their selfish need for money was the cause of her downfall.
Then there was Enji Todoroki, the man the world knew as Endeavor. A serious and stoic hero. Hardworking, always striving to be the best, someone to look up to. Someone to respect, yet no one knew the kind of monster he was behind closed doors.
They were happy for a time, things were grand, the young couple was in love. However, that didn't last, as they had children. At first, a sign of their love, their union, now seen as pawns, failures, copies of him. It took four attempts for the perfect child, in Enji's eyes, to be born.
When Rei snapped, so did her mind. Little Shoto was hurt because of it, which is why she landed in your care. Every day you spoke with her, in the beginning, she didn't speak at all but that changed. Rei wasn't used to people genuinely caring but she could tell that you did. That made it easier for her to open up to you.
Within a year's time, you two were the best of friends. The other staff members left her care up to you, knowing that she was in good hands. Perhaps if they knew what was going to transpire they would have intervened.
One day the gentlewoman had a visitor. No one thought much about it since it wasn't a rare thing for people to visit family here. So when the number two hero came strolling in to see his wife, no one batted an eye. No one except you.
You felt that him coming there after so long was a bad omen. That his presence would set back your patient, and you were right. The moment this giant fireball came into the room, Rei started to tremble, she became fearful and broke down. Endeavor frowned, folding his massive arms, "I thought you said she was improving. This doesn't look like an improvement to me."
"Mister Todoroki, let's speak outside." Opening the door, Dr. L/n watches as the male walks away, not giving his wife a second look. This made your blood boil. "I suggest that you don't come to visit her, as you can see, she's not ready to face you."
"What? But you said she was getting better. If that's not the case then why waste my time!?" Bellowed out the giant, his aura threatening. "She is getting better but she isn't at the level to see or speak to you yet. These things take time, sir."
Each word was said through clenched teeth. Huffing at you, Endeavor leaves but not before stating that your next call better be a good one. If she's not cured fully then don't bother him. If looks could kill Enji would have been overkilled. You didn't plan on reaching out to him anytime soon, nor were you the one to inform him of anything. This issue would be addressed at the next staff meeting.
Another six months came and went with the fair-complexioned beauty growing on you even more. You spoke about her more and more with the staff, pleased with her growth, and she spoke to the others about you. Being more friendly to the other medical staff but never asking them for anything, only you. The things the housewife would ask for were minor things, to go outside more if she could have pictures of her children, updates on them. Things that any mother would want to know.
Y/n, of course, answered anything that they could and agreed that having the pictures would be a good idea. Calling up Rei's mother, you asked her to bring pictures of her grandchildren, which the older woman didn't really have. Inwardly you made a note of how useless this woman was before calling Enji. Hearing that his wife wanted pictures of the family was a good sign to him, so he grabbed a few, making sure to slip one or two of them together into the envelope.
Looking over the pictures of her cute children, she showed them off to you. Her smile became brighter and brighter, it even reached her eyes a bit. That is until she saw the picture of herself with Enji Todoroki, it was their wedding day, a day that should have been full of joy. Now it was just a grim reminder of the hell that she was in. Tossing the picture aside, she dropped to her knees and gripped her long locks.
Following behind her, you pulled her into a caring embrace, whispering sweet nothings while patting Rei's hair. This helped calm the ice quirk user down. "If only...If only I could truly escape him." She says softly, your chest tightened. The following week, you were signing papers for a transfer, some of the older patients were leaving now, they were better and no longer needed care.
Those empty beds would be filled once more before the month was out. As you walked the halls of the hospital, checking on each patient, you stopped by a certain room, a small smile gracing your features. Checking the time, you finished up your rounds, did some paperwork, and headed home. Never before had Y/n L/n been excited to go home but that soon changed in the following weeks.
Weeks turned into months, and everyone noted how carefree you had been. Not that this was something new, there was just something different this time around. Perhaps it was because of all the new and old cases that had been treated and released. The hospital had been seeing record highs thanks to everyone's hard work. When asked about your upbeat mood, you simply told them that your life had improved.
Things couldn't be better with you, at least that is what you thought. Then it came, a knock at the door. Not thinking twice, the door was opened, "welcome hom-"
"Rei..." That voice, she knew that voice! And it wasn't the voice of the doctor that had stolen her away. Standing there was Enji Todoroki, his turquoise eyes were filled with worry for all of one second but then filled with rage. "What the hell are you doing here?!?!" He asked, causing her to step back, body shaking in fear.
"I went to visit you in the hospital and they told me you had been released months ago. You were already back home. I even went to your mother's house, she hadn't seen or heard from you, everyone thought you were still in the hospital! But here you are at Dr. L/n's house, welcoming them home! Like you're their WIFE, YOU'RE MY WIFE."
All good things come to an end, which is why the grey-eyed woman felt herself slipping away again. Her mind went blank the second his large hand raised to grab hold of her flesh but no contact was ever made. A few hours later, those stormy hues opened, she was laying on the couch, had she fallen asleep and dreamt the whole ordeal up? "Oh, hi honey, you're awake, did you have a nice nap?"
"I-I think I had a nightmare. It was about my husband..." You tsked and wiggled your finger at her as if she was a naughty child. "Sorry, dear, I meant ex-husband." Smiling and nodding at her, you asked, "do you wish to talk about it?" Nodding, long snowy locks bounced, retelling what had happened, Y/n hummed.
"That was a dream, it has only been the two of us here all day. Perhaps getting some fresh air will help. We can go for a nice walk or drive, anything you'd like, my darling."
"Yes, I think you're right. I'll go get ready."
"No rush, darling, I'll join you soon. I just need to finish up something in my study." Giving your girlfriend a kiss, you left. Rei went to shower, and you went to the basement, where your study just so happened to be. Down there is a hidden freezer where the remains of a certain pro hero were left. Locking up the room and the freezer, you came back upstairs just in time to see those stunning grey eyes looking for your own e/c ones.
"Are you ready to go, dear?" Kissing her cheek, you took hold of her hand and led the way out, after locking up the house. "So, I've been thinking, we should really bring the kids here, I miss them so much."
"Sure, anything you'd like, my Snow White Queen." Blushing, she smiles at you.
