"Are you sure about this jaemin? I don't think I've ever seen you actually land a backflip." Renjun said to the boy as he stood up on the coffee table.
"Oh yes you have! Remember last year?" jaemin said confidently.
"Aish, jaemin that was on a trampoline! This is completely different!" jeno said pinching the bridge of his nose.
"Ah relax you guys! It's just a backflip, I've seen ten-hyung do this a million times." Jaemin said as he positioned his feet on the edge of the coffee table.
"Jaem, I really don't think this is a good idea, can you at least get off the table?" jeno pleaded.
"No hyung, trust me I'm gonna land this." Jaemin said and turned to chenle who was biting back a laugh at how stupid jaemin was being.
"Lele, do you have the phone ready?" he asked as he put his feet on the edge of the table.
Chenle nodded showing his phone that was recording.
"Hyung, he's gonna hurt himself." Jisung whispered to chenle.
Chenle snickered and looked at jisung.
"Yeah, yeah he is."
"Okay, on three!" jaemin announced as he bent his knees balancing on the table.
Jeno stood watching, anxiety flooding his veins.
"If something bad happens mark's gonna be pissed." Renjun warned.
"nothing's gonna happen! Now shut up and let me count!" jaemin said as he got back in position.
"1, 2, 3!" jaemin announced before he squatted down and jumped backwards attempting a backflip.
Just as he went to flip his body around to land, the ground came up faster than he expected.
He quickly put his legs down ready t land the flip when he slipped, his right leg slipping underneath of him sending him barreling to the floor.
The incident seemed to happen in slow motion as jaemin hit the ground, everything slowing and nobody moving.
Once he was on the ground he heard gasps and worried shouts from the dreamies as they circled around him.
Jaemin was in excruciating pain, his whole world seemed to go quiet, his brain fuzzy as the worst pain he'd ever felt in his life shot through his leg and up his body. He curled in on himself wrapping his arms around his leg, the pain pulsing through his veins.
He could barely make any sound as his breath caught in his chest, tears brimming his eyes.
"Jaemin? Jaemin!? Are you okay?" he heard a familiar voice echo in his ears.
He felt hands gently on his side rubbing softly as he tried to compose himself enough to answer.
"Nana? Hey, what did you hurt? Point to what hurts for me." it was jeno.
Jaemin could barely think, the pain so bad it made him nauseous.
"Aish, guys help me sit him up." jeno said as he knelt down slowly lifting jaemin into a sitting position with the help of Renjun and chenle.
Jaemin was breathing heavily, tears streaming down his cheeks.
Ah! It...it hurts..." he whimpered.
"What hurts nana? Tell me what you hurt?" jeno said calmly.
"My...my leg..." he cried his sobbing making his breaths harsh and heavy.
Jeno quickly moved down to jaemin's leg and gently grabbed it moving it slightly.
"Oh shit." Jeno said suddenly.
"What is it jeno?" Renjun asked.
"This looks bad guys." Jeno said as he tried to move jaemin's leg earning a groan of pain from the injured boy.
"Can you move it at all nana?"
Jaemin swallowed hard clenching his teeth.
He shook his head aggressively tensing his muscles.
Jeno slowly moved jaemin's leg, so it was straight making jaemin cry out in pain.
"Ugh, oh my god I think I might throw up..." jaemin whined as his pain became absolutely excruciating.
"Just relax and try to breathe through it okay nana?" Renjun cooed softly rubbing the boy's tense shoulders.
"Okay, we need to get him to the hospital. Chenle, help me lift jaemin, sungie, call mark hyung and tell him to meet us at the hospital." Jeno ordered as he and chenle lifted jaemin up and rushed him out the door down to the van.
Jisung quickly took out his phone and dialed mark's number.
"Hello? Jisung what is it?"
"Hyung, you need to meet us at the hospital."
"What!? What happened are you okay??"
"Yeah, yeah, I'm fine but jaemin-hyung got hurt."
"Aish, okay, okay we're on our way."
Mark quickly grabbed Haechan, and they rushed to the hospital.
Once the dreamies got to the ER they took jaemin into a room to get an x-ray.
After a few minutes, a very angry and worried mark lee stormed through the waiting room up to his dongsaengs.
"I leave you guys alone for one day! How the hell did this happen?! You guys weren't even at dance practice today!" mark said sternly as he looked at the younger boys.
"we're sorry hyung but we tried to stop him!" chenle said.
"Stop him? stop him from doing what?" haechan asked.
"He wanted to prove he could do a backflip... we said it was a bad idea, but he said he could land it." Renjun informed.
Mark sighed harshly pinching the bridge of his nose.
"you're telling me... that all of this is because of a fucking backflip!?"
"Yes." Jeno said softly.
"This is what I get for leaving you alone." Mark mumbled.
"We tried to stop him hyung, he wouldn't listen." Renjun said simply.
"Aish, alright alright, well is he okay?"
"We don't know, he was taken to get an x-ray half an hour ago." Jeno said.
"Okay." Mark said sighing as he sat in a chair.
After another twenty minutes, a man came out calling for the family of Na Jaemin.
Mark quickly rushed to the man; the others close behind him.
"Hi, you're jaemin's guardian?"
"Yes sir."
"Okay, so he's going to be fine, he fractured his Fibula pretty significantly. We've placed him in a cast, and he will be on crutches for the next five weeks."
"Five weeks...aish that's a long time." Mark mumbled to himself.
"he's resting in room 158 right now if you'd like to go see him."
"Thank you doctor." Mark bowed before rushing down the hall to the room.
He opened the door and saw jaemin laying in the bed, his now casted leg elevated on a pillow.
"Aish na jaemin look what you've done." Mark said as he rushed to the younger.
"Hyung? W...when did you get here?" jaemin asked feeling embarrassed.
"Did you seriously think they wouldn't call me jaemin?"
Jaemin looked sown at his folded hands.
"What were you thinking jaemin? Why would you do something so stupid and dangerous?" mark asked in a parental voice.
"i...I don't know..." he stuttered avoiding mark's eyes.
As mark stood there looking at the younger, jaemin's eyes brimmed with tears. He hid his face as tears began slowly rolling down his cheeks guilt and embarrassment washing over him.
As soon as the members heard jaemin sniffle, mark's anger died down and he felt sympathy.
"Hey? Hey jaemin-ah?" mark started, sitting down on the bed next to jaemin.
Jaemin turned slightly to see mark next to him, his eyes red and watery.
"i...I'm sorry hyung...i...I was being so stupid...i...I wasn't thinking..." jaemin cried softly.
Mark felt terrible, jaemin was still young, he never really got a childhood as a trainee, so it was normal for him to do dumb teenager things sometimes. He didn't want jaemin to cry, he didn't want jaemin to feel bad about himself.
"Jaemin-ah don't cry, please don't cry. I just want you to be okay, and I want you to promise me you will never ever do something like this again."
Jaemin sniffled and nodded his head slightly.
"I promise hyung...i...I'm sorry..."
Mark sighed as he brought jaemin into his arms.
"it's okay nana, I'm just glad you're okay."
Soon the rest of the dreamies joined the hug piling onto the small hospital bed and engulfing jaemin in a warm hug.
"Do you still want me to post the video on tiktok? Chenle said suddenly making jaemin laugh.
"You better delete that video chenle." Jaemin playfully threatened.
As the mood became positive, jaemin felt better despite having a broken leg.
His members helped him adjust to using his crutches and helped him when he got upset about sitting out during practices and performances.
