Sana closed the front door behind her as she walked inside her house. It's after four in the morning and she's exhausted.
She hasn't been able to sleep at all tonight.
It was hard to get any rest when she was trying to sleep in a bed that was so unfamiliar, belonging to the girl Sana has been seeing to try to move on after you broke up just a couple of weeks ago.
It was too fast and she knew it. She knew she'd jumped into a relationship too quickly.
To be honest, Sana wouldn't even call it a relationship. More of a rebound, something to take her mind off of how much her heart aches because she misses you so terribly.
She's not proud of it, she's pretty disappointed in herself for it, actually.
But what else was she supposed to do when she's so heartbroken because she lost you and it's all her fault as to why?
She can't seem to get the night it all happened out of her head. She came home late and she got into a pretty bad mood as you talked about how much you miss her.
Your time together had been so scarce. You'd been dating for nine months at that time but with so much to do as one of the biggest comebacks for the group approached, she was barely home, and you missed her.
She'd had a bad day and went on and on about how you should've known that this could happen.
She told you that you should've known that comebacks like this are bound to happen, ones more serious and more important than ever, and she just couldn't be home with you all the time, although she wanted that more than anything.
She was a little defensive that night, mostly because she was under so much pressure and stress.
She didn't say all the things she wanted to say, the things she meant to say, such as how she felt the same as you and wished she could just lay in the bed you once shared and hold you close, never letting go.
But instead, you got emotional as she snapped a little and you left to stay with a friend.
You texted her the next day that you needed to take a break. You needed to clear your head a bit and your feelings had been hurt.
Now Sana is alone in the house you once shared.
That's what she calls it now - a house. It was once home. But it was only home when you were there.
Now it's just a house that was much too big for her, much too quiet and lonely.
She sat on the sofa with her head in her hands, tangling her fingers through her hair so much that it was a complete mess, much like she felt inside.
She got up and decided to go upstairs to the place she sleeps, the lonely and cold bed that's too big for her to sleep in on her own.
She laid down and pulled out the photo of the two of you that she keeps under her pillow.
She sniffled as she stared at her, tears filling her eyes as she remembered the moment it was taken by Mina. You were kissing her cheek, both of them cupped in your hands as she giggled happily.
It's one of her favorites. She can't get rid of it.
She tried to close her eyes and sleep. She knew she needed it. She hasn't had a good night's sleep since... well, the last night you spent together.
She'd arrived home late and she was only there for a couple of hours before she had to return to practice. But she was able to hold you and sleep well and that's what mattered most to her.
She couldn't sleep though. She felt this need to hear your voice. She's felt it for so long and she's managed to fight it for a while but tonight, she's overwhelmed and she needs to hear it.
She reached for her phone as she sat up in bed. She scrolled through her contacts until she found your name.
It was under a pet name she always called you. It was your favorite one of all.
Calling you by your name was rare, even in her phone.
She didn't even know if you'd answer. She didn't get her hopes up. It's after four am and you're upset with her. Why would you answer?
But, to her surprise, you did.
"Sana?" You groaned as you answered the phone. "It's four in the morning."
"I know." She spoke quietly, a sad sigh falling from her lips.
"Is something wrong?" You asked as you sat up in bed and waited for her to answer.
It was a moment later before she did so.
"Yes."
"Are you okay?" You asked.
"I don't think so." She whispered as the tears in her eyes returned. "I can't keep doing this."
"Doing what?"
"Ignoring the need to call you because I miss you." She confessed as she toyed with the string on her hoodie.
"Sana," you sighed.
"Please hear me out, y/n. I'm begging." She pleaded and waited a few seconds for you to answer.
"Okay."
"I'm so sorry for that night. I'm so angry with myself."
"You hurt my feelings, Sana. I know things are busy with the comeback around the corner but I just missed you. I just wanted you to hold me and tell me everything would be okay because I just needed to hear it."
"I know you did. I wanted to say it. But I was under so much stress that I snapped. I'm sorry I didn't say this sooner."
"I know you are, Sana." You said and heard her sniffle.
"I should tell you that I met someone else. But I swear, I never felt anything for them. I just tried to get my mind off of how much I missed you because I can't take it. But it's not working out well. I broke things off tonight. I wasn't even serious about them in the first place." She confessed. "I needed you to know that."
She just wanted to be honest and get it all out now. She didn't think you'd ever forgive her or come back but part of her tried to hope that you would and she wanted to know everything in case you did.
But she felt her heart shatter when you just hung up on her, making her wonder if she'd made things worse between you somehow.
She felt like her world was crumbling down. She couldn't help but cry and clutch the photo of the two of you against her chest, hanging onto it with everything she had.
She cried herself to sleep. It was only the touch of a hand on her arm that awoke her.
She jumped and almost shrieked in shock, thinking someone had broken into the house.
But it was no intruder or stranger. It was you.
"Hey."
She looked from you and to the bed and her heart pounded in her chest upon seeing your bags on the foot of it.
"You're here... I can't believe it." She smiled brightly as you wiped the tear stains on her cheeks.
"We need to talk." You said as you sat down beside her, back on the side of the bed you slept on when you shared it. "I was sad to hear that you met someone else so quickly. But I do appreciate you being honest with me about it."
"I know it was wrong but... I just missed you a lot. If it makes you feel any better, I swear that I never even kissed her, not once. We had dinner tonight and I almost stayed over but I couldn't. I just wrote her a note, telling her that I couldn't do it. I'm just too in love with you to even try to move on."
You smiled and put your hand on her thigh.
"I miss you." You confessed and her eyes lit up. "If we're being honest here, my friends have tried to set me up but I said no because none of them compared to you. And, just like you, I'm just too in love with you to move on."
"So... what does this mean?"
"If we can start being more open with each other and hear each other out and not let our stresses get to us as much, I know we could work things out."
"I promise you that, y/n. Right now, I swear to you. No more of that." She said as she looked so hopeful, wanting nothing more than for you to stay. She would do anything. "It's so hard to live with regrets, darling. Trust me, I'll do anything. I just want you to come back home. I want you to be mine again."
"I've always been yours, baby, and I always will be." You said and she threw her arms around you for a hug.
"I love you."
"I love you too, Sana." You smiled as you held each other close.
And there was no way that you'd be letting each other ago anytime soon.
