Third person POV.
Christmas finally arrived and it was a great day for Jasmine because she accomplished her mission of eating enough chicken!
She had already gotten her hair done, fixed her nails, bought her accessories and everything a girl would need for the season.
After taking her breakfast that morning which consisted of garnished Jollof rice, salad and sauced chicken, stepped down with an exotic juice, she went out later in the day with her family to have fun.
They ate again, took pictures and she uploaded them on her WhatsApp status.
Dave viewed all of them to the last but he didn't reply to any.
Although, they had all already wished each other a merry Christmas earlier that day.
Jasmine really had fun this season that she almost forgot about Dave.
On the evening of Christmas, she went out with her girlfriend and they did not spend a dime as everything they ate and drank was taken care of by guys who were trying to have their numbers.
They took pictures and made videos, watched people perform on stage,and made new friends.
The next day, a male friend of hers requested to take her out and she agreed.
He took her to a restaurant and when they arrived, he ordered for a bottle of wine and some other dishes.
She was made to order whatever she wanted and she made sure her wine was non alcoholic.
She wouldn't let what happened the last time repeat itself.
They started to have a conversation and they get to know more about each other because it wasn't quite long since they met.
The reason Dave was always persuading her to talk to other guys became more clear now, so they could be there for her when he wasn't.
He knew what he was saying after all.
Another guy requested to take her out to the cinemas on the 28th but she turned him down.
She didn't have all the freedom in the world.
Well technically, she kinda did being the only child whose mother was always at work and father flying in and out of the country occasionally but she didn't misuse the freedom she had. Asides Dave, she rarely visited people.
After a period of two days, Dave came online and he played a prank on her.
While they were chatting with each other, he replied in a very funny and unusual way.
Jasmine immediately observed this and she asked him why he was typing nonsense.
He said he was having a hangover from last night's party and Jasmine began to bombard him with questions.

What the fuck, last night's party!?"
{Dave}
"Yes, I had so much fun."
Her heart began to beat a bit faster.
What had he possibly gone to do?
Were his cousins now misleading him?
Is this why he was so excited to go on the trip all along?
she asked him these questions but he ignored them all.
"I drank a lot tho." He continued.
{Jasmine}
''Hope you didn't smoke? Please tell me you didn't smoke.''
{Dave}
''I just took two or three puffs of weed but my cousins wrapped like five blunts.''
Oh God
What is this boy getting himself into?
{Jasmine}
''I thought you had good morals? Why in the world are letting your cousins mislead you now!? It's not even up to a month since you told me about your encounter on how you would have gone astray and you want to start drinking and smoking now? Where do you think that would take you to!?''
{Dave}
''At least it makes me happy.''
{Jasmine}
''Wow. Is that the only thing that makes you happy Dave!? Is that the only thing that can fucking make you happy!?''

''I guess I was too high yesterday when I smoked.''

''Oh God. You have no idea of how fast my heart is racing presently. What are you turning into?''

It's nothing too serious tho but I remember I was really young then. Maybe JSS3 or SS1. My Senior brother was throwing a party and they asked me not to come because I was still small or whatever. Trust me and my strong head😂 I wear my eye glass, ball in the party😎😂. Omo as I entered, everywhere reeked of alcohol and cigarettes. There was a place for the big guys and my brother was there too. When he saw me, he just acted like he didn't know me. That type of you're on your own type of look is what he gave to me but I didn't even care.-
So the big guys called me to come and sit with them and I happily went, shining teeth like I've arrived.😁😂 some girls were sitting on their laps and all. You know the way parties are na. After a while, one of them passed me the kush and I refused. I told them I didn't smoke, omo, that is when everything started oo babe.-
They were like why would I say that, as big as I am, blah blah blah. Babe they where whining tf out of me I was na feeling like a big boy😂💔. God peer pressure is the worst shit ever no jokes. They will lure you into a lot of things and if you are not strong, you will fall badly. So one them was like I should just taste it that it's mad and that if I don't like it, they wouldn't force me.-
God if you see the way they were hailing me😭😂. I didn't want to fall their hand so I took a drag. Omo I just inhaled it, I started coughing uncontrollably and they were like I should take another drag that that's how the first time is. My brother later came because he left earlier with his girlfriend. I think he heard that they were making me smoke or something. He was just boiling and changing it for everybody asper ''why would they make his brother smoke?'' Party end because of me oo guy😂 Since that day, I vowed not to ever smoke in my life.''

I don't know but you would have to train yourself to start getting used to it because lately, I've been losing interest in this whole coming online and shit. I honestly don't feel the vibe to chat anymore. Since I travelled, my interest in people began to die slowly.

This is where it all began, Dave not having interest in talking to people anymore.
He stepped into the new year with his new personality of not giving a fuck about anyone asides himself, his family and God.
He began to change slowly and it did nothing but affect Jasmine negatively.
It seemed as though he now became heartless.
He didn't care about what he said or how he treated her.
January 7th 2021.
Dave arrived back to Lagos and he made a call with Jasmine that night to inform her that he had arrived.
She told him that she missed him and that she would love to see him but his response to her was that he didn't feel like seeing anyone.
He told her that they were going to see whenever God wanted them to and sadly, there was nothing she could do about it but wait.
It was already up to a month since Dave arrived Lagos but still, he didn't talk about seeing Jasmine and he stopped giving her the normal attention he gave to her on a normal day.
Fast replies now became slow and all of this began to eat her up.
What in the world was going on with this boy!?
One night, she was on her bed listening to running on my mind by Ali gatie and the first person that came to her mind was Dave.
She thought about how he always put a smile on her face and how he had always been there whenever she needed him.
How they met, and how he became so important to her.
All the fights and how one of them always came back to apologise.
All the hugs, the early morning meet ups
"Dave come back, one last one."
All the promises and the assurances, the videos they made together, the moments he sang for her, all of it.
And then she remembered the statement she could never stop repeating.
''Dave, let's stop talking."
A lone tear dropped down from her eye.
How could she behave this way to someone who treated her like a queen?
She always asked for space and breakups. He got so used to it that whenever she now wanted to leave, he would ask when she was going to be back.
She realized that she had changed him and made him not believe in a thing called "true friendship.''
She began to cry that night, she couldn't hold her tears back.
She was the reason for his change.
She hurt him so bad, she let her insecurities get the best of her.
She wished she never blocked him, she wished she never made him suffer, she wished she could take all those moments back.
She was always apologising and he would always forgive her but deep down, he was draining from her toxic behaviour and she never knew.
She called him that night and apologised to him and he told her it was fine.
He told her he had no plans of leaving her life and that if anybody was going leave in their friendship, then it would be her.
She didn't want to promise that she wouldn't leave but she told him she hoped she wouldn't leave for any reason.
They talked for long that night and he made her understand that he was still the same person and nothing has changed it's just that he now preferred phonecalls and meet ups to texting.
Maybe she was just over thinking everything.
Maybe she wasn't.
Dave coming into Jasmine's life was literally the best thing that had ever happened to her, he had the ability to make her smile and also cry without even knowing that he was doing so.
After their whole conversation, he told her he loved her and that made her feel really happy.
She couldn't recall when last Dave said that statement to her in a very long time.
"I love you too," she said as she hung up and went bed with joy in her heart.
