Killian's P.O.V

"Have you found out who tried to kill me?"

The two idiots that I caught that night had nothing to say for themselves. They never met the person who hired them. They were paid handsomely to just get the job done. The person's only request was to use a knife.

The person was either an idiot who didn't know me, or they knew me well enough to know that I'd be able to take those two fools on. If it was the latter, then they never meant for me to die. But what would be their motive for doing that?

"Nope. We couldn't even trace the money they receive for doing the job because they got paid in cash. So, we're no closer to finding the mastermind behind it today than we were yesterday. Basically, we're at a dead end."

I snorted at Mik. "No shit f**king Sherlock!"

Mik placed his hand over his heart in mock hurt. "You hurt my feelings with your sarcasm."

"Better than me hurting your feeling with a bullet from my gun."

The idiot just knew how to piss me off, especially when I was not in the mood for any of his bullshit.

"You know, your threats to shoot me has become more frequent lately. I'm starting to think I should actually be fearing for my life."

I frowned at him. "You're only now starting to think this?"

Mik laughed, enjoying my reaction to his teasing. He knew that I was having an off day and decided that pissing me off further was going to be the highlight of his day.

"Hey, don't get pissed at me because your ass can't choose between two women that look like your wife. If it was me, I'd keep them both. One during the week and one on the weekends."

He threw his head back and laughed like what he said was funny. I frowned at him further, feeling very tempted to shoot him.

"Go ahead, idiot, laugh at my pain. Remember this day when your time comes."

"Ha!" he grunted, "I don't intend to ever find myself in your position. I haven't pissed off nearly enough people for them to want to f**k my life up like that. Ever since you decided to let Lilly in your life, you've made it your duty to further piss off your enemies and make enemies out of friends."

He was right, but if I had the chance, I'd do it all over again. I'd always put Lilly first. She has been and will always be my number one priority.

"She's all that I need."

He laughed again. "Yeah. And someone gave you two of her. Two more than you need. Good luck playing where's wally."

My dilemma was a source of entertainment for him. He was having so much fun watching my world become a tornado of confusion.

"If you don't shut the f**k up, I might just have to tell Jessy that you slept with Emily."

The smile left his face and was replaced with a terrified look. Emily was one of the managers of my clubs, and currently Jessy's close friend. When Jessy and Emily met, she told Mik that she'd only be friends with her if Mik hadn't f**k her before. Mik lied and said that he didn't, because he wanted Jessy to have someone to talk to since she no longer had Lilly or Kinsley.

"Why the f**k would you want to f**k my relationship up because your own is messed up?"

I smiled, "Because it might make me feel better."

He shook his head. "That's just... That's f**ked up, is what that is."

I laughed as he started walking towards the door mumbling that our friendship has lost its genuineness. The smile was still on my face when he strolled back in a minute later.

"I hope your memory from two nights ago never returns, and you have to live wondering what really happened between you and Lilly number 2"

I grabbed my gun out of my desk drawer and fire a shot at the door just as he hurried through it. His laughter trailing behind him as he left. My mood was once again sour. I wanted to shoot something, preferably Mik, but I'd have to catch him first.

I was about to pick up my phone and call Levi to see if he had anyone that I could kill, but a call from Lacey came through instead.

It made me smile. Maybe that's what I really needed, to hear her beautiful voice. That would definitely make my day a little easier.

"Hello."

"Hello, my mummy needs help. Daddy won't stop hurting her."

The voice on the phone was soft and filled with fear. I was stunned for a while, wondering what little child was calling me, until I remembered that Lacey had triplets.

Faintly in the background, I heard Lacey screaming, telling Richard to stop that the kids were watching.

"You have to hurry! I don't want my mummy to die!"

She was crying, sobbing into the phone. Panic filled me as I heard my baby's earth-shattering scream.

"It's okay, sweetheart. Your mummy will not die, not as long as I'm alive."

She sniffled, "Are you coming to save my mummy?"

My keys and gun were already in my hand, and I was already heading to my car. I wanted to kill something, and God was answering my prayers.

"I'm on my way."

I got into my car and started the engine, speeding out of my driveway. When I got to the gate, I tapped my hand impatiently on the steering wheel waiting for it to open.

I didn't even check to see if I closed it properly as I drove out. My only thought was getting to Red in time.

"Do you need me to tell you where we live?"

She was scared, but she was handling the situation like a big girl. She held herself better than most grown men in what would be considered a terrifying situation.

"No, I have it already."

She sniffled again. "Can you stay on the phone with me, please?"

"Sure," I said, "I'm not going to hang up."

There was another scream and then little footsteps running. The screams became clearer, and my fear built as I heard what sounded like someone struggling. I couldn't hear her voice anymore. Running all the red lights that I encountered, I tried my best to contain my rage. Images of Lilly falling into the river filled my head again and I pressed my foot down on the gas.

"Daddy, stop! I called the police!"

Her voice was filled with fear for her mother, but also with confidence. I was proud of her because I knew that she just saved her mother's life when I heard coughing. The bastard much has been strangling her. My hands tightened around the steering wheel as I imagined killing him. He was going to pay for touching her!

"RUN!"

I heard her scream, and I swore because I knew that the coward had turned on the kids.

"F**king bastard children! I should have gotten rid of you before you were even born!"

That prompted me to drive faster. With the speed I was driving at, it was a wonder police cars weren't chasing me. It was night, so there wasn't a lot of vehicles out, but the few that were, blew their horns at me every time I ran a red light or cut past them.

"Stay the hell away from my children, or I will paint the walls with your brain!"

I felt a tinge of relief knowing that she somehow managed to get herself to a gun. A loud bang made me think that she shot the bastard, but when she spoke again, I knew that it was just a warning shot.

"Please, make me shoot you." I heard her warned.

I smiled. "That's my girl."

It wasn't long before I get to her house. I knew because I've driven to her place multiple times. I've even sat outside, but never went in.

"Get the hell out of my f**king house, Richard!"

Part of me wanted him to not listen, hoping that she would shoot him. His death would be less painful that way because once I get my hand on him, death will be a welcome release to what I had planned for him.

"This isn't over, Lacey, not by a long shot."

It was. It most definitely was, because I didn't intend to ever let him see her again. He was never going to get the chance to hurt her again, not while I was alive.

In the midst of my thoughts, I heard the kids crying and my baby screaming, then silence from her. I was about five minutes away from her house, and as I drove, I prayed to God, begging him not to take her from me again. My palms were sweaty, and my heart was racing. I took deep breaths in and out as I sped down her road.

When I pulled up on her drive, I grabbed my gun, left the keys in the engine and ran into her house. The door was still left open. I was surprised that the neighbours hadn't called the police after hearing her screams and a gunshot.

I holstered my gun when I saw her lying on the ground unconscious, with the triplet around her crying.

"Mummy, wake up."

They were shaking her. Her eyes were flickering, like she was trying to regain consciousness, but failing. I got on the floor next to her. Her daughter picked up the gun and pointed it at me.

"Don't touch my mummy! I called the police."

I raised my hands, letting her see that I wasn't a threat to her. Her hands wabbled because the gun was too heavy for her.

"I'm not here to hurt your mummy. I'm the one you called for help, sweetie."

She looked unsure but then nodded her head. But before putting the gun down she asked, "Promise you're not going to hurt mummy?"

I smiled at her innocence. "I promise."

She carefully placed the gun down and I wasted no time checking for a pulse. I found one, but it was weak. I scoop my baby up in my arms. The kids looked at me curiously.

"I'm going to put your mother on the couch, okay? Then I'm going to try and wake her up."

All three of them shook their head. "We have to leave before daddy comes back and hurt mummy again." The little girl said.

"Yeah, it's not safe here." One of the boys chined in.

They were right. We would be too vulnerable if Richard decided to return. I had to get them all out of there, to safety. And the only safe place I knew was my house.

"Grab your stuff and let's go."

They each picked up a bag from a pile in the corner of the room. It looked like she was already planning to move when Richard came.

"That's mummy's stuff. Everything else mummy put in storage for later."

I smiled at the little girl. She was only four, but she acted way more mature for her age.

"Let's get you and your mum in the car, then I'll come back for those."

They walked behind me and opened the door for me to put their mother in. I strapped her in the front seat then help them to get strapped in. One of the boys complained about not having a car seat, but his sister told him that it wasn't important. They needed to get their mummy to safety.

I smiled at her, then went back into the house and got the rest of their stuff. After putting everything in my car, I drove off. And just as I was about to turn out of her street, I saw Richard driving up to her house, with two other cars following behind. I wish I could have stayed to greet him, but I needed to get the kids and their mother to safety.

On the drive back to my house I called my doctor and told her to meet me at the house. I also called Mik and told him what happened. He promised to meet me at the house as well.

I checked her pulse again. It wasn't as week as before, but it wasn't as strong as it could be either. There was silence from the kids in the back, they were just looking at their mother, with occasional glances my way.

As I pulled up to my gate, waiting for it to open, I thought about what I was going to say to Rose and Freya. I didn't know how they were going to handle the news that their mother was alive, but didn't remember who they were.

Just as the gate opened, the doctor pulled up and we both drove in. I got out of the car and unstrapped the kids, then their mother. They were very brave. They were at a new place but did not act scared. Their only concern was for their mother.

I carried her into the house and up to my bedroom with the doctor and the triplet following behind. When I placed her on the bed the doctor checked her over while the kids and I waited.

"She seems to be okay, just some mild bruising around the neck, nothing too serious. The swelling on her face and the cut on her lips will heal nicely, it shouldn't leave any major scarring. She seems to have a mild concussion. I would recommend taking her to the hospital, but since I know you're not going to do that, regular checks should suffice."

I thanked her and she let herself out. Sitting on the bed, I brushed the hair away from my baby's face. She looked so bruised and swollen that I swore. I couldn't believe that Richard would do something like that to her.

"Is our mummy going to be okay?"

I was so caught up with her that I forgot that they were there.

"Yes, she is. She just needs —"

I was cut mid-sentence as I finally took a look at them. Three pairs of curious green eyes looked back at me. Green eyes that I knew so well. Green eyes that I saw every day when I look in the mirror.

Getting off the bed I walked over to them. They looked a little unsure by my action, but not scared.

"What are your names?" I asked the girl, whose hair was a mass of red curls that I didn't notice before.

I felt myself laughing as I took her in, she looked exactly like Rosey did when she was six.

"My name is Liliane Jessica Lighthouse, and this is my brother Kailo George Lighthouse and Liam Noah Lighthouse. We're triplets"

I snorted. She couldn't remember me, but she named our kid after Noah.

I stuck out my hand to them. "Nice to meet you, I'm Killian Black."

Three pairs of green eyes widened and looked at each other. They looked like they wanted to say something, but the girl stopped them.

"Shh, aunty Jenny said that we're not supposed to say anything, remember? Daddy will hurt mummy, and mummy will be upset with us.

The boy, Liam, glanced at his mother then back at his sister. "Mummy's sleeping, she won't hear us."

The girl, who I guess was the leader of the three, looked at her mother then back at me. She then nodded to the other two, then turn back to face me.

"Are you our real daddy?"

I was taken aback by her question. "Why would you ask that?"

They looked at each other again, making sure that everyone was in agreeance that they were doing the right thing.

"We heard daddy telling grandma that if mummy ever found out that Killian Black is our real father she would try to leave, and he would have to hurt her."

"What?!"

The sound came from the bed. The triplet gasped, thinking that they were in trouble. I, on the other hand, laughed because I couldn't believe my luck. My family was finally back together, but with new additions.
