Its been at least an hour since Amar and Tori dropped a bomb load of information on us concerning our heritage. It's hard to believe that my parents were strong divergents.
After I had my little phase moment, Amar pulled Caleb and I aside. He told us that we were exceptions because techincally two strong divergents would theoretically cancel out and the child would go unnoticed... enter Natalie and Andrew Prior.
Amar explained to the both of us that the Prior line was not even from Chicago which is why our Divergents occur in every generation. The only thing different from the rest of the other family names is that we always happen to end up with strong Divergents.
Caleb and I sit back to back, he's facing outside where the guards are and I'm facing the pristine white walls. Shauna tried to comfort me but I ended up making sure that she was okay with her leg rather than the other way around. I've been zoned out like this forever.
During this time Uriah and Lynn are having a wrestling match on the floor while the rest of them are discussing Al and his sudden betrayal. One step at a time for me right?
"Hey Tris?" Caleb says breaking the silence.
"Yeah?" I respond.
"If there was one thing you could have done differently in life what would it be?" he asks.
"Probably try and stay out of the whole child spy stuff. That's what got us here in the first place," I say after some thought. As much as I hate it, I do remember the good times that it gave me. I remember Zeke giving me piggy bag rides and us racing against each other to purposely piss Max off. I remember the day that Uriah stopped being a pansycake and asked Marlene out. Christina's various fights with Lynn about wardrobe. Zeke proposing to Shauna after so many years together. Will and Al speaking the foreign language of technology to us during our meetings.
Did I really want to forget this? Or am I just being selfish?
"I would want to do that day over again. It felt like if we had just not been there none of this would have happened. I wish were another family, one that didn't have the last name Prior," he says.
"As much as I hate our family ties I wouldn't want to change my last name..." I say thoughtfully.
"I guess as the Chases or Jacksons or Stolls we would have had opportunities not as great as these huh," he says.
"Caleb?" I ask turning around to face him.
He does the same and looks at me. I take the chain off my neck and hold it in my hand to him.
"Do you really think I can open it? What's Jeanine going to do to me?"
"I'm sure you can. But what has it got to do with the ring? Amar said it was coded by Edith Prior and Isadora Eaton so what does that have to do with the ring," he says.
I finger the ring in my left hand and it accidentally slips on to my pointer finger, just where it bends that's behind the nail. I feel a sharp prick and a zap.
"OUCH!" I yell abruptly standing up and flinging the ring all the way to where the wrestling match was.
Everyone stops what they are doing and looks at me. I ignore their stares and exam my finger. There is a nice slash like it sent some controlled electrical current to pierce my skin. Blood was flowing out of the wound. Caleb was on his feet examining my finger and Tobias knelt down to pick up with ring.
"What happened?" Will asked.
"I-I don't know. I-I was playing with the ring and it slipped on to my finger and next minute there is a buzz and pain and flung it across the room," I say.
"Four let me see that," Caleb says.
Tobias obeys and hands Caleb the ring. He inspects it and looks at me with a worried face.
"What?" I ask.
"It has to do with the ring and you. See this?" He asks showing me the inside of the ring. On the inner side it is a smooth silver except for one part that had a circle. It was the kind of circle that something would come out of and then be retracted.
"It pricked me?" I say.
"I've seen those before," Cara says.
"Yeah those are specially designed rings that extract DNA from a person," she continues.
"How long does it store the DNA information in there for?" I ask.
"Not long only about an hour. So in the mean time keep that thing hidden," Cara says.
"We have to get out of here like now.. Jeanine is somewhere else so this would be the best time to go," Amar says.
"Plan anyone?" Lynn asks as Evelyn approaches the door.
We all stand to face her and Caleb quickly tucks the ring into his pocket.
"Evelyn?" Tori says.
She doesn't speak anything, she only bends down and slides a note into our cell before walking away.
I command my feet to move forward and take the note. I face the others and I read it to them.
I assure you that I was in a sane mind when I wrote this. Jeanine's serums are not strong enough for total control yet hence why sometimes I can be obedient and other time not. You all have to get out of here. When you find Jeanine, kill her. Then drop off the grid forever. You can choose to go separate ways or stick as a group either way you cannot stay in the FBI.
Four, Tris Jeanine wants both of you. You'll have to find a way to escape her. Find a way to get out of the cell. When you get out, you are all under FBI shadow protocol.

"She wants us under Shadow Protocol?" Christina asks.
Shadow Protocol was an initiative set in the FBI for any compromised agent. It entitled that you were to surrender all forms of communication including cell phones and adopt a new identity to lay off the heat. (I don't know if this is an actual thing but let us use imagination)
"Okay step 1 get out of the cell," Uriah says.
"What's step 2?" Lynn asks.
"I don't know I haven't though that far because in my mind I can't see me making it to the next step to thinkn of the next step," Uriah says.
"Unbelievable..." Tori says.
"Firstly how are we able to break out of the prison? There isn't a lock that we can pick so it's got to be a button outside," Lynn says.
"Like that big button that says 'open cell' on the wall there," Uriah says pointing.
"That could work..." Lynn says.
"Right how do we get out?" Marlene asks.
"I really have to pee..." Shauna says, "You would think that they would put a toilet in here..."
"Bless your bladder Shauna!" Christina says walking up to the door.
"Hi, excuse me, my friend need to use the bathroom. She's getting cramps because of that time of month and she really needs the toilet," Christina says.
We all look at her dumbfounded at how confidently she just appraoched that.
"Fine only her," Lauren says.
"Oh no can do... you se you guys geniuously stabbed my friend in the thigh and she is having troubles holding herself up. So two of us have to escort her to the bathroom because we have to try and hold her up," Christina says.
"Fine!" Lauren says defeatedly. She nods to Robert and Susan and they come to stand next to her.
Christina smiles and walks back to us and in a whispered voice she says,"Shauna act really weak as if your leg was still in extreme pain, Zeke you and I will escort her there each one takes an arm," she says.
They get into position and head out the door.
"Good luck," I whisper to them.
"If your friends think about moving then I will not hesitate to do target practice using them," Lauren says eying all of us.
They were just out of the prison door when the punches began to fly.
