Present time
Chan was standing in front of Minho's university after almost 5 months of being apart, 5 months of no sort of contact between the two boys who had been by each other's side through thick and thin always since childhood.
If asked about these two living without each other for this long a year ago, it wound sound ridiculous.
But that's how life goes.
What you expect or believe might not be what life has in plan or might not be something unbreakable.
Chan surely hated being away from his best friend that he happened to have feelings for.
Despite that, he had to admit that the time spent in his little bubble that didn't consist the younger was quite needed for him at that moment.
He felt refreshed.
He was brought out of his thoughts as he heard the familiar sweet voice calling out his name, an underlying shock present in the tone.
"Chan..?"
Minho was heading out of his faculty building to go to his bike parked in the parking space nearby.
He was about to reach his bike when the muscular figure of none other than Bang Chan caught his eyes.
Minho's heart panged slightly, seeing his best friend after so long. He gulped in the lump in his throat that occurred immediately as emotions came rushing in.
In all honestly, Minho understood that Chan needed space. Being rejected by someone that you had spent most of your life with, loved and cared for always could bring in great deal of toll on anyone.
If only Minho could help him. He just wanted to help him no matter what way that was. Seeing the older in pain was the last thing he wanted.
But he couldn't escape reality. And he figured the only help he could provide was keeping himself away till Chan was ready to face him again.
Guilt would eat him up every night, and telling himself it wasn't his fault over and over again wasn't being much of a help. Still he managed.
Minho managed to pass these couple of months not depending on his best friend and trying to heal himself.
In both sides, the time was necessary.
After all, time heals everything.
"Minho.." Standing up straight, Chan made eye contact with the guy he had missed.
Without wasting a second, Chan rushed towards the younger as Minho also sprinted towards his best friend, confining the small distance with the warmest hug both of them hadn't experienced in a while.
Minho smiled big as he patted down the older's back, Chan not doing any better. The goofy smile that adorned their faces was something sure to cherish.
"I missed you, Channie."
"I missed you too, Min."
Minho's POV
I couldn't believe that Chan, my best friend for life, was in my arms again.
The past 5 months had been so tough for me that I realized how much exactly I depended on the older in my daily life.
So although it was hard for both of us, in a way, I was glad that I started to not depend that much on others in this quite long break.
Chan and I were both ecstatic, it was visible in our eyes. We decided to go to a cafe to catch up on our days and that's what we did.
"I'm sorry, Min. I'm sorry I let my feelings come in between our friendship."
We had settled down in a table beside the window after ordering our drinks, the busy street visible in our peripheral vision.
"It's not your fault, Chan. Never blame yourself. You're my best friend and in no way, this had come between our friendship. I still love you the way I've always had." I shot him a genuine smile, trying to ease the poor guy a little.
I saw him smile back, a breath of relief coming out of his mouth.
We chatted for a while, laughter and goffiness filling the atmosphere just like old days. I loved the moment.
Although an underlying fear and anxiety poked in the core of my heart, fear that I might've lost him forever, I tried to brush it off. He won't leave me.
I trust him.
Our number was called and so Chan initiated to bring our order. That's when a notification sound came from my phone in my pocket.
I fished it out to check a text from Changbin?

Hey!
My boyfriend's birthday is tonight and we're throwing a party.
Do come :)
Party?
I was never a party person although no one could ever accuse me off being a typical nerdy person either. Parties and gatherings just weren't my thing.
I was contemplating whether to accept or not when Chan came back, placing my americano and his choco latte on the table.
"Chan, are you going to Changbin's party tonight?" I asked as soon as he sat down.
"Huh?"
I motioned for him to check his phone and he fished it out to check a similar message from our short friend.
"Ah! It's Felix's birthday. Yeah, I can't miss my lill aussy bro's birthday. I haven't seen him in a while." He smiled enthusiastically.
"Okay.."
"Min, I know what you're thinking. Come on. You deserve a break from all the studies. You'll love it there." He tried to convince me.
I sighed and let out a small "Okay" knowing deep down I could use a break too.

"Is Felix the one... you know the best friend of-"
I didn't have to finish my sentence as I saw my best friend gasp at what I was implying.
"Oh shit! I totally forgot that he's gonna be there.."
I sighed as I tried to brush off the feeling of discomfort, there's no way I could cancel now.
