Chapter 52 - Bystanders

Harper is on her way to the hospital. She is at a stop light when she looks over at a doctors surgery. There is thick black smoke coming out of the building with people crazily running out
"Shit" Harper mutters before abandoning her car and running over
Within the CFD if you are an off duty firefighter you must stop and help if you see a fire unattended no matter what time of day.
"Help" A woman shouts as she runs into Harper's arms
"Hey it's okay!" Harper says smiling
"Okay! If your injured I want you to sit on the left side! And if you aren't I want yall on the right side! Has anyone called 911 yet?" Harper shouts
Everyone shakes their heads and Harper stops a man
"I want you to call 911 and say that captain Bailey told you to call okay?" Harper asks calmly
"Got it" The man says as she gets his phone out shakily
People are still flooding out the building, there coughing and covered in black smoke.
"Where are those trucks!?" Harper says to herself
The man comes running over
"There's a delay or something!" He says slightly panicking
"Okay! See that car over there?" Harper says as she points to her abandoned Range Rover
"Y-Yeah" he replies
"I want you to run over and in the passengers seat there is a radio! Can you grab it for me?" Harper asks as the man nods and runs
"Help! It's my son!" A woman shouts frantically
"What's wrong Miss?" Harper asks as she runs over
"He's trapped! The smoke was too thick! I can't get to him!" She shouts
Harper hesitates. Her eyes shifting from the door to the frantic woman standing in front of her. She is then reminded of Devin and Hunter
"Okay! I'll get him!" Harper says as she takes a deep breath before running in
Harper tires to navigate her way though the smoke
"God this is easier with a mask!" She says to herself
Harper gets low. Making sure she doesn't bump into anything
"Fire department call out!" Harper yells
But she gets no response. She knows she has to brave the stairs with no way of getting out fast enough. She could burn alive but she was willing to take that chance. She starts to walk up the stairs
*Outside*
Truck 66 and 91 have turned up along with some ambulances
"What's going on here?" The Luitenent asks
"Yeah we were told some bystander was helping?" Another Luitenent adds
"It was Captain Bailey I'm sure!" The man that called 911 replies
"Fuck! That's our captain!" The Luitenent says
"How long has she been in there?" Truck 66's Luitenent asks
"About 20 minutes" The man adds
"With no gear on!" Truck 91's Luitenent says
"We'll be lucky if she makes it out alive" Another Luitenent adds
*Inside*
Harper is slowly walking up the stairs when one of the stairs gives way. Harper falls through getting her leg caught in the stair. With no gear and no one to help her. With no way of getting out....
