"Severus, no! You... you're not the person I once knew..."
CHANGE
(before the birth of Harry but during Voldy-moldy's arising)
"Tell me! Crucio!" Severus yelled pointing his wand at the poor woman.
You stood there quietly in the corner, holding back tears just wishing you could do something.
But you couldn't. You had to stay there, watching silently as the man you loved turned into a person you never thought he could turn into.
"Listen here," Sev snarled, "You're going to tell me or else I'll murder you. So tell me!"
The woman's screams were bad enough but when she started sobbing, "No, no, please! I have a husband and children! I have a family!", that was enough.
You walked towards Severus and roughly turned him around. He looked to you, eyes blazing, "What?"
You whispered to him angrily, tears threatening to fall, "Severus, stop. This isn't right."
"I am doing the Dark Lord's work and if it helps then I will do it," he whispered back, just as angry.
You grabbed his hand and led him to another room, shutting the door.
"What is it?" he spat.
"What is it?" you looked at him astonishingly, "What is it?! What it is is that you need to stop, Sev. The poor woman clearly doesn't know and you know that she doesn't know either. You're just doing it for the sake of it and you need to stop it now!"
He looked at you angrily, "Who asked you to get involved?"
"Me! I have to step in!"
"Is that so?" he scowled, "And why is that?"
"Because, Sev! I can't watch the man I love turn into a complete and stranger who I wouldn't dare love like I loved you!"
His expression softened slightly, "Loved? Past tense?"
"I love Sev the Nerdy Potion's Lover, I do not love Severus the Death Eater who's Willing to Torture and Kill At All Costs!"
He reached forward and rested a hand on his cheek and, out of habit, you were about to lean into his touch. He stroked your cheek with his thumb.
"Darling, I-" he sighed and shook his head, "I'm just doing the Dark Lord's work."
You scoffed and stepped back, "No, Severus Snape! You're not! You're doing what you think'll make him happy!"
He frowned, "You promised..."

Flashback in Hogwarts
You layed on the grass with Sev, staring at the stars.
"Hey, Sev?"
"Yes, darling?" he mumbled sleepily.
You moved to rest your head on his stomach and he moved his hands to play with your hair.
"Do you think we'll be together forever? Like in those cheesy romance books Lily showed us where couples are... was is called 'High school Sweethearts'?"
He chuckled, "I don't see why not, princess. I'm going to marry you."
You sat up and looked at him, gently brushing the hair off his face, "Really?"
"Obviously."
"So... is this your theoretical proposal to me?"
"Well," he smirked, "theoretically... would you say yes?"
You grinned, "Definitely!"
You moved back to lay on his stomach before he spoke again, "Darling?"
"Mm, love?" you mumbled.
"You have to promise me something..."
"Go on."
"That no matter where I go, who I turn into (and you know what I mean by that) or the things I do, you'll always stay by my side."
You sat up and interlaced your fingers with his, "I promise."

Present day
Tears rolled down your cheek, "Yes, I did promise but... that was when I believed you wouldn't change into someone even I can't change."
His eyes glistened and as much as you hated him at that moment, your heart still broke.
"I- Look," he stuttered, "I'm sorry darling, I'm so so sorry."
You stepped towards him and brushed some hair off his face, "Are you though?" you whispered, "Because once you start, you can't stop."
He sighed sadly, "I know."
"Then why don't you do something about it?!" you raged again.
"Because!" he snapped, "You cannot just back out from being a Death Eater. If you do it's just a recipe on how to get hunted down and killed!"
You scoffed, "But, Sev! You're torturing! You're fucking murdering!"
"Well I don't have a choice!" he shouted.
You huffed, walking to grab your coat, "You know what? Fine. Stay here in this hell hole! Stay here in this damn shit hole!"
His voice quietened and expression softened but he still had contant tears falling, "Y-you're leaving? You're breaking the promise? Darling..."
"No," you spoke quietly, "I'm not breaking the promise. First release that poor woman. I can't change you Severus, you've turned into someone I can't control... but when you're ready to change, I'll be waiting for you with open arms."
He let out a silent sob and your heart broke once again.
You wanted to hug him, tell him everything was going to be alright. But it wasn't. Atleast, you didn't know if it was. You wanted to kiss him for the last time, tell him that you love him.
You walked towards him and reached up to cup his face, looking up at him. You got onto the tip of your toes and leant up to place your lips on his.
It had been a long time since you felt the feeling but, out of habit, his hand immediately went to your waist.
It wasn't a long kiss but it meant so much to the both of you.
"I love you, Severus Snape."
Then you apparated...it would be the last you would see of him for years.

When Snape has just been attacked by Nagini and is lyin on the floor, dying
"Oh my god, oh my god, oh my god," you gasped running towards Severus, immediately having tears form in your eyes. You brought your hand up to his neck where blood was pouring from.
"Shit, Sev!" you cried, "Okay, look, I'm gonna help you...I- where is my bloody wand?!"
You searched in your robes and around you but couldn't find it.
"Okay," you sobbed, scared that you were about to lose him, "I'll save you I promi-"
"Stop," he interrupted. He grabbed your hand and kissed it before whispering, "No more promises."
Tears rolled down your face, "Wha-? N-no! Severus! Stop being a daft dingbat and-"
"No," he whispered, "Darling, I'm so so sorry. I'm sorry for everything... absolutely everything. But I did change! I...I moved onto Dumbledore's side and-"
"I know," you smiled, cupping his cheek, "I know...and I'm so proud. I'm sorry I didn't come sooner to you...I couldn't find you and-"
"Hey, it's fine," he smiled back, "You're here now and that's the important thing."
You sniffled and bent down to kiss his forehead and then his lips.
He held your hands, "Oh, darling, I love you so much."
"I love you more."
"I love you most."
You sat there for a while just looking into each others eyes before he whispered, "So...I guess I'll see you in heaven?"
"Oh no," you gave a watery laugh, "The amount of chaos we caused in sixth year will definitely get us to hell."
"Well then," he chuckled, "I'll see you in hell my love."
And with that, he took his last breath, staring into nothingness. You broke down, sobbing for hours.
You would do anything to spend one more day with him.
