Chapter 151

Captain Gao was extremely enthusiastic as he shook Tang Hao’s hand. He did not want to let go.

The villagers were all stunned when they saw the scene. They could not believe it.

Since when was Tang Hao acquainted with a police captain? The relationship seemed to extend far beyond mere acquaintances, looking at how the police captain was treating him.

Ma Yongnian was thoroughly dumbstruck. He stared at the scene with round, wide eyes.

  How was that possible?

‘Isn’t the kid just a mere peasant from a mountain village? Why does he seem like good friends with Captain Gao?’

Then, he started yelling. “What are you doing, Captain Gao? Why aren’t you arresting him? Didn’t you see what he did to my face?

“It doesn’t matter that the two of you are friends. He’s the one who committed assault, and therefore he should be arrested! You should know who I am right, Gao? Would you believe me if I said that I can end your career with a phone call to the commissioner?”

Captain Gao furrowed his brows. The disdain in his eyes grew stronger.

‘This Ma guy is a shameless one! He brought so many hooligans with him. He should be the one who’s causing trouble,’ Captain Gao thought. He had never wanted to side that bastard.

He considered the backgrounds of the two people. Undoubtedly, Tang Hao had more powerful people behind him.

It was clear to him whom he should side with.

Captain Gao coughed and said, “Well… Mr. Ma, don’t you think that you’re the one who brought trouble to the village?”

“What the f*ck? You must be blind, Gao!” Ma Yongnian was livid. He pointed at Captain Gao and shouted, “Alright, you have balls. You want to cover for the kid, right? I’ll make sure that you’re dead too!”

Then, he took out his phone and dialed Commissioner Xia’s number.

“Hey, Commissioner Xia! Who did you send here? This Captain Gao is harboring the criminal! You have to sack him,” Ma Yongnian roared into the phone.

Commissioner Xia was stunned when he heard that. He was rather confused.

“What’s going on?” Commissioner Xia asked with a serious voice.

“How would I know? That Gao seems to be friends with the kid who punched me, and they seem to be very close too. Commissioner Xia, is that how your subordinate should behave? He isn’t respecting the law. Do you think he’s fit to be a police captain?”

Commissioner Xia was silent for a moment.

He knew very well that Captain Gao was not someone who would put himself above the law and harbor criminals. Furthermore, Captain Gao knew who Ma Yongnian was.

Captain Gao would not have harbored criminals even if they were his friends.

He pondered the issue for a while, then had a sudden brainwave.

The incident happened at Tang Village. Also, the person who had punched Ma Yongnian was quite young.

  ‘Could it be… him?’

Commissioner Xia felt some unease. “What’s the name of the person who punched you?” He asked urgently.

“Is that important? Isn’t he just some random village peasant? Right, they call him Lil Hao. His name should be Tang Hao!”

Commissioner Xia’s face turned pale when he heard that name. ‘It’s really him!’

He propped his forehead as he felt a headache creeping in.

He dared not cross Tang Hao. Not only did he have Secretary Lin behind him, but the even scarier Old Master He was supporting him too!

He also knew that Tang Hao was a good kid and would not be the aggressor. Ma Yongnian was different though. He was brash and arrogant, and many people disliked him.

It was plain to see who was right and who was wrong.

Even though he was a bastard, Ma Yongnian was the brother-in-law of the new District Secretary. This was a tricky situation!

“I think you should let the matter slide!” Commissioner Xia said after deliberating over the issue.

Ma Yongnian was stunned when he heard that. He thought that he had misheard.

He had expected Commissioner Xia to be instantly furious and immediately take Captain Gao off the force, then order someone else to arrest that kid.

However, Commissioner Xia was playing the mediator now. It was hard to believe.

Was Commissioner Xia also harboring that kid?

How was that possible? Did the kid have someone backing him? Even if he did, was that person ranked higher than the District Secretary?

“What do you mean, Commissioner Xia? Are you covering for the kid too? Isn’t that kid just a peasant from a mountain village?” Ma Yongnian said coldly while holding back his temper.

Commissioner Xia broke into laughter. “Just a peasant? You must be joking, Boss Ma. You don’t know how powerful he is. I’d suggest that you try to make peace with him.”

Ma Yongnian smirked. “I don’t believe that he’s more powerful than me.”

Commissioner Xia furrowed his brows. “I’ve already told you what I need to. You’re on your own now, Boss Ma!”

Then, he hung up the phone.

  “Hey! Commissioner Xia!”

Ma Yongnian became even angrier as he looked at the phone. He was raging in his heart.

First, it was Captain Gao, then it was Commissioner Xia who had ignored him. He had never been treated that way before.

Captain Gao looked at him and chuckled. He knew that Ma Yongnian was defeated.

Ma Yongnian became even angrier when he heard someone laughing at him.

Hu Dahai finally opened his mouth. “I want to tell you something, Brother Ma. That Tang Hao… does have someone backing him. He’s connected with the previous Secretary.”

  “What?” Ma Yongnian nearly jumped.

He suddenly understood why Captain Gao and Commissioner Xia had ignored him.

“No wonder!” Ma Yongnian laughed viciously. “That was the previous Secretary though. The Secretary now is my brother-in-law! Does that Xia guy dare to oppose me? He’ll have to pay the price.”

Then, he dialed his brother-in-law’s number.

When the call went through, Ma Yongnian started retelling the sequence of events with a lot of made-up details. He made himself the helpless victim of the incident, while the kid who punched him was an irredeemably evil peasant.

As for the police officers, they were accomplices to the evil deed.

Qian Ziqiang was silent for a long time after the story ended.

“So he’s connected with Secretary Lin! It’ll be a little tricky!” Qian Ziqiang mumbled.

Lin Jianjun had been promoted to the city. He wielded a certain level of influence.

“You’ll have to help me, Brother-in-law, you can’t just turn a blind eye on this. That kid is too evil, and that Xia guy isn’t respecting your position as the new Secretary,” Ma Yongnian said maliciously.

Qian Ziqiang was not very happy when he heard that.

“Just a minute, Yongnian. I’ll talk to Commissioner Xia.” Then, he ended the call.

Qian Ziqiang sat on his chair in the office for a very long time. He lifted his hand to pick up the phone.

Before he could call Commissioner Xia, his phone started ringing.

Qian Ziqiang was shocked. He answered the call.

  “Who is this?”

“Secretary Qian, I am Lin Jianjun! We’ve met before.” It was Secretary Lin who had called.

Qian Ziqiang was shocked again. “It’s you! Is there anything?”

Lin Jianjun smiled. “Secretary Qian. I’m here to save you.”

Qian Ziqiang nearly burst out laughing when he heard that. “Is this a prank? I’m just fine. Why do I need saving?”

“Secretary Qian, don’t you know what your brother-in-law is doing, or are you pretending to be oblivious? He’s involved in forced eviction, and he brought a bunch of hooligans to disturb the villagers.

“I received a video not too long ago. What do you think will happen if that video finds its way on the Internet?”

Qian Ziqiang was dumbstruck. His expression froze.

Then, his face turned pale as cold sweat rained down his forehead.

He had heard rumors of that happening, but he pretended that nothing happened.

However, once that video is uploaded to the Internet, people might start talking about it and find out that the tyrant in the video was his brother-in-law. That would spell big trouble for him.

“That’s the least of your concerns, Secretary Qian. You should know Old Master He, right?”

  “I… I know…” Qian Ziqiang stammered.

“The person who punched your brother-in-law is Tang Hao. He once saved Old Master He’s life. You should know what that means! I’m sure you won’t make any stupid decisions!”

Then, Lin Jjianjun ended the call.

Qian Ziqiang slumped on his chair, trembling.

Chapter 152

In the office, Qian Ziqiang was slumped on his chair. His face was pale as a sheet.

“I’m finished! Finished!” He mumbled with an expression of utter dejection.

He did not expect that ‘unruly peasant from a mountain village’ would have someone so powerful backing him!

Old Master He was a legend in Province Z. A District Secretary like him was not even qualified to polish his shoes.

Furthermore, he had heard before that Old Master He was an austere man who hated to see peasants being bullied by government officials abusing their authority. He would be utterly finished if Old Master He caught wind about it.

‘Dammit, this bastard only knows how to look for trouble!’

Qian Ziqiang had nowhere to release his anger when he thought about Ma Yongnian.

“No, I can’t let this continue!” He paced in a circle impatiently. Suddenly, he shouted to someone outside the office. “Prepare my car! I want to go to Tang Village.”

Meanwhile, on the road leading into Tang Village, Ma Yongnian became arrogant again.

“You, Tang kid, and you too, Gao guy, just you wait! I’ll teach you what it means to cross me!”

Ma Yongnian roared arrogantly as he pointed at Tang Hao and Captain Gao.

Captain Gao grinned. He did not look worried at all.

‘Is that self-centered, arrogant fool going to oppose Brother Tang? That’s such a big joke! He doesn’t know the extent of Tang Hao’s power!’

He smirked coldly when he looked at the bunch of hooligans and the trucks laden with sand behind Ma Yongnian.

‘What’s that, if not forced eviction? That guy is such a despicable person!’

He would have arrested Ma Yongnian on the spot, if not that he was still wary of his background.

The villagers were all clueless. They did not know what was going on.

Their brains could not process so many happenings in a short time.

‘Commissioner’. ‘Secretary’. Those were incredibly important people that they would not encounter on a usual day.

Now, those titles were being thrown around as if they were nothing special.

More surprisingly, their Lil Hao was connected to them all.

They had only expected that Lil Hao was connected to some rich bosses. However, now that they found out that he was connected to people in the police station and even the government, that was on a different level.

Tang Dashun pondered for a while, then said, “I think I understand now. Lil Hao is connected to the previous District Secretary, while this tyrant here is the brother-in-law of the current District Secretary.”

“That’s still bad news for us! The previous Secretary is gone. How can we stand a chance against the current Secretary?” Tang Hao’s uncle sighed and said miserably.

Ma Yongnian heard that, and he smirked gleefully.

He checked his phone for about five or six times per minute, waiting for the good news from his brother-in-law.

More than ten minutes went by. His phone was silent.

“What’s going on?” Ma Yongnian’s instincts told him that there was something not quite right.

His brother-in-law said that he would be talking to Commissioner Xia. The talk could not have gone on for so long!

‘Right! They must be discussing how to settle this! I can still wait!’ Ma Yongnian thought to himself and continued waiting patiently.

Another ten minutes passed with no news of his brother-in-law.

He was beginning to be anxious.

A few minutes later, a black car appeared at the end of the road driving toward Tang Village.

The car stopped nearby and the car door opened. A tall middle-aged man stepped out.

That person was none other than Qian Ziqiang, the new District Secretary.

He was dressed in a white shirt and black slacks. His appearance was plain, and he did not look as authoritative as Secretary Lin.

Qin Ziqiang scanned the area with his eyes after he got out of the car. He noticed the nearby farmland filled with sand and the demolished houses, and his face immediately darkened.

Then, the veins on his forehead bulged and pulsed when he saw the bunch of hooligans with their weapons.

‘What is this bastard doing? Does he want to throw me under the bus?’

Ma Yongnian was surprised to see Qian Ziqiang. He wondered why his brother-in-law came to the scene in person.

Jumping for joy, he immediately pulled Hu Dahai and ran fawningly toward Qian Ziqiang.

“You’re here, Brother-in-law! Look at our faces. The unruly peasant has assaulted us. You’ve got to avenge me!” Ma Yongnian spoke pitifully as though he was about to cry.

“You have to restore justice to us, Secretary Qian! That unruly peasant isn’t respecting the law!” Hu Dahai said.

The two people spoke with tears and snot running down their bruised and swollen faces. They looked as pathetic as they could be.

However, Secretary Qian was unmoved. He lifted his hand and slapped it fiercely on Ma Yongnian’s face.

  Slap!

The sound of the slap was crisp and had shocked everyone who witnessed it.

“What… What’s going on?” The villagers were confused.

Captain Gao, Tang Hao, and the rest were also shocked. Ma Yongnian was the most shocked of all.

He was utterly dumbstruck. He could not believe that his brother-in-law did not take pity on him, but instead slapped him.

“You… You slapped me?” He said incredulously.

“That’s exactly what I’m doing, you bastard! Look at what you’ve done! Are you still human or are you an animal? Don’t you have any guilty conscience?” Secretary Qian said sternly, then slapped him again.

“I’ll have to uphold justice today, even if that means punishing my relatives. Let’s see all your past evil deeds being exposed once and for all!”

Ma Yongnian covered his face with his hand. He stumbled a few steps backward and his mind was blank.

He could not comprehend what caused the change in his brother-in-law’s attitude.

  “Brother-in-law, I…”

“Shut up! You’re not related to me!” Secretary Qian roared and his eyes were glaring. “You’ve been abusing my title to commit so many evil deeds for the past few years. I didn’t want to say anything because we were relatives, and I thought you’d know how to check yourself. I didn’t expect you to become more and more brazen.”

Ma Yongnian was utterly dumbstruck. His face was ashen.

He could see that his brother-in-law was serious in bringing him to justice without regard to his familial relations.

Meanwhile, Hu Dahai was trembling with fear as he witnessed all that. His heart sunk into despair.

He knew that he was once again finished.

“Why are you standing there for?” Secretary Qian shouted at Captain Gao and the police officers. “Cuff these two up and bring them back to the police station for questioning. Arrest all those hooligans too.”

Captain Gao was immediately ecstatic. He had been raring to do that since he arrived at the village.

He turned to order the police officers behind him. “All of you, go and round up the hooligans. You, and you, follow me.”

He brought the police officers in front of Ma Yongnian and Hu Dahai and said coldly, “You’re under arrest!”

Then, he took out two pairs of handcuffs and cuffed them up.

Chapter 153

Ma Yongnian and Hu Dahai’s faces were ashen. Their knees went weak and they nearly fell on the ground.

They were herded along by Captain Gao and were stuffed into the police car.

The villagers cheered when they saw the scene.

“That’s a good one! Someone should’ve taught those two bullies a lesson!”

“Bringing his relatives to justice! This Secretary is a good person!”

Tang Hao grinned when he heard that.

He knew that Secretary Qian was not a good government official as the villagers had said. If he had not contacted Lin Jianjun, Secretary Qian might have still been complicit in his brother-in-law’s misdeeds.

However, Secretary Qian had learned his lesson in impartiality, which was a satisfactory result.

“Thank you!” He turned around to thank Han Yutong.

She had secretly recorded the video and sent it to Lin Jianjun.

Han Yutong breathed a sigh of relief when she saw that all went well.

Then, she narrowed her eyes slightly and scrutinized Tang hao.

A hint of curiosity flashed in her clear, beautiful eyes.

Her boss was becoming more and more unpredictable. She still could not believe that he was a martial arts master.

Her narrowed eyes were transfixed on Tang Hao, as though burning a hole through his body.

‘Boss must have some secret!’ Han Yutong thought to herself.

Tang Hao noticed that his assistant was staring at him. “What are you doing, Assistant Han? Is there something on my face?” He asked curiously, then lifted a hand to touch his face.

“Ah!” Han Yutong came to her senses and looked elsewhere.

“It’s… It’s nothing!” She lifted a chin to try to hide her blushing face.

Tang Hao became even more confused when he saw her reaction.

Secretary Qian walked among the crowd looking for someone. His eyes fell on Tang Hao.

“Hey! Lil Bro Tang! I’ve heard of you before. You look like an outstanding individual!” Secretary Qian laughed heartily.

Then, he grabbed Tang Hao’s hand and gave it a firm shake.

“Secretary Qian!” Tang Hao greeted him.

“I’m sorry, Lil Bro Tang!” Secretary Qian said apologetically, “It’s my fault for not keeping my close relations in check. I’ve caused trouble to you and your people in Tang Village.”

After he spoke, he bowed several times toward Tang Hao and the villagers.

The villagers went cross-eyed when they saw the scene. Even the District Secretary had to be courteous to Tang Hao!

“Don’t worry, Lil Bro Tang. I’ll make sure that this case will be handled with impartiality. Everyone that deserves to be punished will be punished to the fullest extent of the law!”

The villagers all smiled when they heard that.

About twenty minutes later, several police cars arrived at the scene to bring the hooligans back to the police station.

In the meantime, Secretary Qian chatted enthusiastically with Tang Hao.

When it was time to say goodbye, Secretary Qian looked like he did not want to leave.

After sending Secretary Qian off, the villagers crowded around Tang Hao.

They had admired Tang Hao’s achievements, but now their gazes toward him were filled with respect.

In their eyes, the District Secretary was a very high-ranked official. Lil Hao was not only connected to the previous Secretary, but he was able to chat with the current Secretary as though he were a normal person. Tang Hao had become an incredible VIP in their eyes.

“Thank you so much for today, Lil Hao!” Tang Dashun, the village elder, said happily.

“That’s a good one, Lil Hao! You’ve helped us beat up the two bastards! That was so satisfying to watch!”

“It’s all thanks to Lil Hao today!”

The villagers surrounding him chatted happily.

Tang Hao returned to his old house with the villagers escorting him.

Tang Hao felt sentimental when he stepped inside. He had left Tang Village for several months. The furniture in the house was covered in a thin layer of dust.

They stayed until night time when they had a festive dinner with the villagers. Then, Tang Hao and Han Yutong finally left Tang Village.

Back at the mansion, he met Sis Xiangyi.

As the Chinese saying went, “A short separation makes a couple fonder than being newly married”. They spent a long time in bed before falling asleep.

The next morning, Tang Hao went to Dragonrock Village as usual to tend to his secret plantation.

When he left the mountains, his phone started ringing. He took it out to see that it was an unknown number.

“Who might it be?” Tang Hao muttered.

“Hello! Who is this?” Tang Hao said as he answered the call.

The other end of the phone was silent for a while. “It’s me!” A familiar voice was heard.

Tang Hao was shocked. The voice belonged to the beautiful police officer!

“It’s you, Officer Zhao!” Tang Hao said, surprised, “Is there anything?”

Zhao Qingxue gritted her teeth. “Don’t you think that you’ve forgotten something, Tang Hao?” She said angrily.

Why did the police officer sound like she was interrogating him?

Tang Hao pondered over the question for a long while, but could not remember what he had forgotten.

  “What is it, Officer Zhao?”

“You…” Zhao Qingxue’s eyes were already bulging. “Your memory is horrible, Tang Hao! Didn’t you promise me that you’d concoct a potion for me? Let me ask you, where’s the potion?”

  Tang Hao’s mouth twitched awkwardly.

He did indeed make that promise!

That happened when she fetched him to the hospital for the case of the female ghost. He promised to concoct a potion to solve her period problems.

However, the case of the female ghost dragged on for longer than he expected, and the matter slipped his mind. Furthermore, he was not very close to Zhao Qingxue and did not have her number, and the matter was forgotten completely.

“Well… um… I’m sorry!” Tang Hao said awkwardly as he scratched the back of his head.

  “Hmph!” Zhao Qingxue grunted angrily.

“How are you feeling now though, Officer Zhao? It’s been half a month. Is it still the same?” Tang Hao asked.

Zhao Qingxue was hesitant to reply. “Well… it seems like it’s gotten worse. I feel that my body isn’t as healthy as before. My chest feels stuffy often, and I get acne breakouts on my face.”

Tang Hao furrowed his brows. “Officer Zhao, work might be important, but your health is even more important!”

“I know that! You don’t have to tell me! All I’m asking you is, can you cure this?” Zhao Qingxue still sounded angry.

“Of course I can cure it! It’s not a very serious problem!” Tang Hao said, “Alright, I can concoct the potion now, and I’ll send it to the police station soon.”

“Don’t!” Zhao Qingxue said urgently, “It’s my day off today and I’m not at the station. You can contact me when you’re done with the potion!”

“Alright then!” Tang Hao agreed, then ended the call.

Then, he sat down next to a farm, retrieved the ingredients from his pocket dimension, and started to concoct the potion.

He held each ingredient in his palm to channel qi into it, then pounded them in a medicinal bowl to obtain a small bowl of medicinal liquid.

He filled up a bottle with the liquid, then contacted Zhao Qingxue. After that, he rode on his three-wheeled motorcycle and headed toward Provincial City.

Chapter 154

On the road, the little three-wheeled motorcycle sped as fast as lightning.

Tang Hao arrived at Provincial City in less than twenty minutes. A few minutes later, he stopped at the entrance to a cafe.

Tang Hao hopped off the little three-wheeled motorcycle and went inside.

Many well-dressed people were sitting in the cafe. Some were wearing trendy clothes.

Many people furrowed their brows when they saw Tang Hao at the entrance. Some displayed looks of disdain.

‘That boy looks quite handsome, but his clothes are extremely outdated. Oh my god! There’s crusted mud on his pants!’

Their brows were locked even tighter when they saw the little three-wheeled motorcycle parked outside.

“Where is this country bumpkin from?”

“He’s probably a peasant farmer from a countryside village. Since when do peasant farmers drink coffee like us city folk?”

The people in the cafe whispered among themselves, their voices brimming with mockery.

In their eyes, drinking coffee in a cafe is a status symbol. What status did a peasant farmer from a village have?

Tang Hao furrowed his brows when he overheard that, but did not care to respond.

Standing at the door, he scanned the interior of the cafe and noticed Zhao Qingxue sitting in a corner.

It was the first time that Tang Hao saw her out of the police uniform.

She was dressed rather casually. She wore a simple cotton top, though it could not hide her voluptuous curves. The twin peaks on her chest pushed against the thin fabric of her top.

She was still as charming as ever: the perfect heart-shaped face, eyebrows that looked like brush strokes, and fiery red lips.

Her long, glossy, black hair was like unfurled silk that contrasted the fairness of her skin.

Her existence had attracted the eyes of all the males in the cafe.

Even without the bewitching beauty of her face, her body had pushed the men’s urges to the edge. The more perverted ones were already gulping.

Tang Hao was a little shocked when he looked at her.

She carried a different aura while in casual clothes. She did not look as gallant but had a certain feminine charm.

Soon, Tang Hao noticed that a person was sitting in front of her.

“Can I buy you a drink, beautiful lady?”

The guy that sat in front of her smiled lustfully as he spoke. His eyes gravitated toward the twin peaks, and he had to keep swallowing his drool.

Zhao Qingxue’s face was as cold as a glacier. She looked at the man with disgust.

“Get lost!” She spat two words from her mouth.

“Don’t be like that, beautiful lady. Can’t we be friends over a cup of coffee?” The perverted guy was persistent.

Zhao Qingxue straightened her brows and slammed the table.

The perverted guy was intimidated by her outburst. He shuddered, then sheepishly slinked away.

Right after he left, another person stood up. It was a middle-aged man with a masculine face in a business suit.

He walked over with firm strides and sat down confidently in front of her.

Then, he preened his hair and flashed a confident smile at Zhao Qingxue. He took out a name card and gave it to her.

“This is my name card, beautiful lady. I run an IT company. Are you interested in being friends?”

“Not! Interested!” Zhao Qingxue spat out each word.

The smile froze on the man’s face.

“I just want to make friends, beautiful lady!” The man was not quite ready to admit defeat.

“Get lost!” Zhao Qingxue said impatiently.

The man was stunned for a long time, then he left the table, defeated.

Another person was seen preparing to make his move.

Zhao Qingxue could not take it anymore. She took out her police badge from her handbag and threw it on the table. “I’m a police officer. I’ll arrest whoever dares to sit in front of me!” She roared.

Everyone was dumbstruck at that instant.

When they looked closely at the badge, a shiver went up their spine and they turned around to leave.

‘Too bad! That beautiful lady is a police officer!’ They lamented in their hearts.

They would have been a little more persistent if she were a normal girl, but they dared not cross a police officer who was not in the mood for flirting.

Even so, many people stole glances at her.

Tang Hao nearly burst out laughing when he saw the scene. ‘This police officer has too much charm. She’s just sitting there and people are flocking to chat up with her,’ he thought.

Then, he started walking toward Zhao Qingxue.

The men in the cafe were surprised when they saw him. Then, they burst out laughing.

“Hahaha! That’s too funny! Does this country bumpkin want to chat up with the beautiful police officer? Where does he get his confidence from?”

“Haha! He ought to pee on the ground and look at himself in the puddle. Is he even aware of his appearance?”

Everyone laughed at him. Their snobbery and disgust were written all over their faces.

In their eyes, it was ridiculous that a plainly-dressed country bumpkin riding a three-wheeled motorcycle would attempt to chat up with a masterpiece of a woman.

‘That kid must be crazy!’ They mocked at him in their hearts.

‘Does that kid have a death wish? He’ll definitely be rejected, if not arrested!’

However, something happened immediately after that made their jaws drop.

The beautiful lady nodded at that plain-looking kid.

Everyone went cross-eyed at that moment. They thought their eyes were playing tricks on them.

That country bumpkin succeeded in gaining her attention!

Everyone thought that it was incredulous. They wondered if the beautiful lady was blind. She had repelled so many men and even bosses, but she regarded that country bumpkin differently.

  That was too nonsensical!

Everyone’s eyes were filled with envy as they were focused on Tang Hao.

After Tang Hao sat down, he leaned close and smiled. “You’re too charming, Officer Zhao.”

Zhao Qingxue sat back to avoid everyone looking at her.

She rolled her eyes. “What do you mean? Are you making fun of my misfortune? On usual days when I’m in uniform, who would dare chat up with me?”

Tang Hao smiled. “Officer Zhao, your temper is getting worse! Looks like the situation is quite serious.”

Zhao Qingxue glared at him and said coldly, ‘Where’s the potion?”

Tang Hao retrieved a small bottle and handed it to her.

“Your condition isn’t too serious. It’s just that your workload is giving you a lot of stress, which causes a hormonal imbalance in your body. That’ll lead to period problems and a bad temper. You should be fine after drinking this.

“Of course, you’ll have to make sure that you don’t overwork yourself in the future.”

“It’s that easy?” Zhao Qingxue furrowed her brows and said doubtfully.

“Of course!” Tang Hao said, “This isn’t normal medicine. It’s quite potent.”

“Pah!” Zhao Qingxue obviously did not believe it. “Whatever. I’ll just have to try it!”

Then, she stashed the bottle into her handbag.

Chapter 155

After stashing the potion in her handbag, she took out her purse.

  “How much is it?”

“It’s free. I made the potion myself, and it doesn’t cost me a lot of money. I’ll feel bad for charging you since it’s my fault in the first place.”

  “Well…” Zhao Qingxue hesitated.

She thought for a while, then nodded, “Alright! I heard that you started a company recently anyway. You should be rich, and you won’t need my money.”

She smiled a rare smile. “Thanks!”

Then, she prepared to stand up and leave.

  “Wait!” Tang Hao said.

“What’s wrong?” Zhao Qingxue was surprised.

Tang Hao narrowed his eyes and examined her. “Officer Zhao, do you have any problems here?” He said seriously while pointing at his chest.

Zhao Qingxue was visibly angry when she heard that.

“You Tang kid!” She straightened her brows and gritted her teeth.

‘This guy is a lecher after all!’ She cursed in her heart.

“Ahem! Don’t be rash, Officer Zhao. I’m asking if you feel stuffy in your chest here. Also, your back might be feeling sore!” Tang Hao said awkwardly.

Zhao Qingxue was surprised. “How… How did you know?”

Her chest and back were indeed giving her problems recently.

Tang Hao smiled. “Didn’t I tell you not to wear your bra too tightly, Officer Zhao? That’s very damaging to your body.”

  Zhao Qingxue blushed.

She was embarrassed to speak about her body problems. However, that kid had somehow discerned her problems just by looking at her and described them with great detail.

Her embarrassment had caused her to be angry. She wanted to say something but she thought anything said would worsen the situation.

“So… it’s really a problem caused by ‘that’?” She leaned over and whispered.

  “Of course!” Tang Hao said.

“What should I do?” Zhao Qingxue asked urgently.

“That’s easy. I’ll just have to massage it!” Tang Hao said.

Upon hearing that, Zhao Qingxue straightened her brows and her eyes went wide.

“Tang kid, you lecher!” She cursed loudly and nearly slapped him.

Tang Hao frantically shrunk into his seat. “You’ve misunderstood, Officer Zhao! I’m not massaging ‘there’, but your back!”

“My back?” Zhao Qingxue was surprised, and her anger dissipated, though she still looked angry.

  That would still be inappropriate!

However, she started having second thoughts when she recalled how the problems with her body had caused her much anguish.

“Are you sure that a massage can cure it?” She said softly.

“Yes, it’ll be very simple. In fact, I can do it right here!” Tang Hao said.

“That won’t do!” Zhao Qingxue’s face turned bright red as she glanced at her surroundings.

She struggled internally for a while, then said, “Let’s go to my house! It’s in the residential area nearby.”

Tang Hao was shocked. “What? Go to your house?” He exclaimed in surprise.

His voice was rather loud and the entire cafe heard that.

The bustling cafe suddenly fell silent. One could even hear a pin drop.

Everyone stared at them with round, wide eyes. They could not believe what they had just heard.

‘Oh my god! What did he just say?’

‘Did that beautiful lady police officer invite that country bumpkin to her house? Did they develop their relationship in such a short time?’

  ‘That is insane!’

“F*ck! Where’s the justice in this world? How’s that possible?”

“Dammit, we were blind! He’s not a country bumpkin, but a master casanova!”

Everyone exclaimed in shock, and their gazes toward Tang Hao turned into utter admiration.

Zhao Qingxue blushed even more intensely when she heard the commotion around them.

She grabbed her handbag and stood up. “Let’s go! What are we waiting for?” She told Tang Hao.

Then, she reached out to grab Tang Hao, then headed toward the exit.

“Wow!” Everyone in the cafe exclaimed.

Everyone went slack-jawed when they saw that. Their respect toward Tang Hao had risen like the tide.

Outside of the cafe, Zhao Qingxue was still holding Tang Hao’s hand while walking aggressively.

Tang Hao spoke up awkwardly. “Um… Officer Zhao, I don’t think it’s too appropriate to go to your house?”

Zhao Qingxue turned around. “What’s so inappropriate about it? I don’t have a problem with it, so why should you?”

Tang Hao had no response to that.

Soon, Tang Hao arrived at her house in the residential area nearby.

“Let me tell you, Tang kid, if you even think of doing anything inappropriate, I’ll immediately throw you in jail!” Zhao Qingxue warned Tang Hao sternly before they entered the house.

  “Don’t worry!” Tang Hao promised.

Tang Hao looked around the house as he stepped inside.

It was a two-room apartment. It was rather small, but a sole occupant would have found it spacious. The decor of the place was feminine and homely.

Zhao Qingxue shut the door. Then, the two people looked at each other. The atmosphere suddenly became awkward.

Zhao Qingxue hemmed and hawed for a while. “So… how are you going to massage me, Tang kid?” She asked with a blush on her face.

Tang Hao came to his senses and coughed slightly. “You’ll just have to sit down. How about you sit over there!” He pointed at a couch nearby.

“Oh,” Zhao Qingxue replied, then awkwardly sat down.

Tang Hao went over and sat next to her.

While she turned her back to him, Tang Hao composed himself, then breathed in gently and lifted his hands.

He channeled qi into his hands and pressed them on Zhao Qingxue’s back.

Zhao Qingxue’s body trembled. Her face displayed an expression of utter shock.

‘What incredible technique!’ She thought as she felt a warm current course through her body, causing something within her to change. That feeling was too amazing for words!

After three minutes of gentle massaging, Tang Hao retracted his hands.

“It’s done!” Tang Hao said as he gently exhaled.

Zhao Qingxue was shocked. She wanted more.

Chapter 156

“That’s it?” Zhao Qingxue blurted. She did not want it to be over.

She realized that her question was quite inappropriate, and a blush appeared on her face.

However, that short massage session was too comfortable. The hands that were on her back were almost magical.

She could feel that her body is incredibly relaxed. Also, her previously lethargic body was filled with energy.

“That’s too amazing!” She muttered to herself.

She turned around, then grabbed Tang Hao’s hands to inspect them closely.

“What are you doing!” Tang Hao said alarmedly. He also felt a little awkward.

Zhao Qingxue’s hands were fair and soft. They could be considered the perfect pair of hands. Her skin felt warm and gentle.

“Your hands look quite good,” Zhao Qingxue muttered to herself after inspecting Tang Hao’s hands for a long time.

“Hey! What techniques did you use? How can the massage feel so incredible?” She lifted her head and stared unblinkingly at Tang Hao.

Tang Hao smiled awkwardly. “It’s a massage technique that I’ve devised, and I’m glad that you’ve found it incredible. Do you feel better now, Officer Zhao? Are you filled with energy?”

  Zhao Qingxue nodded.

“That’s good to know. Remember, you shouldn’t wear your bra too tightly…”

As he spoke, Tang Hao’s eyes naturally gravitated toward her chest.

Zhao Qingxue’s face turned bright red when she noticed where Tang Hao was looking. She glared at him.

“I know that alright! By the way, you’re pretty capable! I bet the other Taoist masters know weird things like that,” she said impatiently.

  Tang Hao was speechless.

Why did everyone think that he was a Taoist master? What did she mean by ‘weird things’?

“Right, this is for you!” Zhao Qingxue took out a hundred-yuan note from her purse and gave it to Tang Hao.

“There’s no need!” Tang Hao said.

“Take it!” Zhao Qingxue said insistently and shoved the money into Tang Hao’s hands.

Tang Hao kept the money in his pocket and stood up from the couch. “I’ll… I’ll be off then!”

Zhao Qingxue also stood up and sent Tang Hao off at the door.

At the stairs, she seemed to have suddenly remembered something. “Hey! Wait!”

“What’s wrong?” Tang Hao was surprised. He stopped walking and turned around to look at her.

“Your medical skills… How incredible are they? I heard that you saved Secretary Lin’s son and Old Master He.”

“It’s not bad!” Tang Hao said humbly.

“I’d like you to examine a patient for me,” Zhao Qingxue said after some hesitation.

Tang Hao was surprised. “What disease?”

  “It’s leukemia!” Zhao Qingxue said.

  Tang Hao furrowed his brows.

He knew about leukemia. It was the cancer of the blood and a very scary disease. Chances of a full recovery were minute.

Zhao Qingxue noticed Tang Hao’s hesitation and looked crestfallen.

Even so, she handled her disappointment rather well. Leukemia was not a typical disease. The latest medical technology could not cure it. She should not have put her hopes in Tang Hao.

She smiled apologetically. “Sorry for asking. Never mind then!” Then, she turned around and was about to go back to her house.

Suddenly, Tang Hao opened his mouth. “Wait a second, Officer Zhao. You can tell me more about the patient. Leukemia is a tricky disease to treat, but it’s not impossible to fully cure it.”

Tang Hao would have been helpless if he was asked the question earlier. Things were different now. With his knowledge and experience in pill-making, he could make any medical pill to cure any earthly disease, given that all the appropriate ingredients were gathered.

“Really?” Zhao Qingxue’s face lit up with joy. She felt that it was a little hard to believe.

“There’s hope. That’s all I can say!” Tang Hao said.

Tang Hao did not want to promise a cure before he had made a diagnosis. Furthermore, it was very difficult to make medical pills. Tang Hao was not confident that he could produce a pill with the necessary potency.

“I’ll have to see the patient first before I can say for sure, ” Tang Hao said.

If the cancer was at an early stage, he could cure it without using medical pills. However, if the cancer was already in its late stages, he needed medical pills to cure it.

“Oh! She’s at the First Public Hospital. I can take you there!”

  “Alright!” Tang hao nodded.

Both of them rode in Zhao Qingxue’s car and went to First Public Hospital.

Soon, Tang Hao met the patient in the hospital room.

The patient was a young girl. She had a thin and bony body and a pale and sickly face.

Tang Hao frowned when he saw her.

Just by looking, he could tell that her situation was not looking good.

“Her name is Zhou Xin, and she’s seven years old. Her father was a police officer, but he lost his life on the job several years ago. Now, Lil Xin’er lives with her mom.

“Life is already hard enough for them, and it’s only becoming worse with Lil Xin’er’s disease. Treating the disease needs a lot of money and their family can’t afford it. The police station and our colleagues have been raising money for her.

“Lil Xin’er used to be very cute and active. She’s also very smart, but now…”

Zhao Qingxue felt a lump in her throat and tears welling in her eyes.

Looking at the sickly girl on the hospital bed, she could not hold back her emotions anymore and started sobbing.

  Tang Hao was silent.

Nothing tortured the mind and soul like a chronic disease.

“The doctor says that there’s no hope for a full recovery. Current treatments can only prolong her life, and even so, it wouldn’t last for long,” Zhao Qingxue said softly.

Tang Hao looked at her and smiled.

“What are you smiling about? There’s nothing funny about this!” Zhao Qingxue said angrily.

“I’m just surprised that you have a sentimental side, Officer Zhao!” Tang Hao said.

“What do you mean!” Zhao Qingxue said impatiently.

“Wipe your tears! You’re embarrassing yourself.” Tang Hao said as he passed a pack of tissues to her.

Zhao Qingxue was surprised. She pulled several tissues out of the pack and wiped her face.

Tang Hao went next to the hospital bed. He felt sorry for the girl there.

“I’ll try my best!” Tang Hao mumbled to himself. Then, he gently pressed two fingers on the girl’s wrist.

In a short while, he had a diagnosis of the girl’s condition.

At that time, footsteps were heard outside the room.

The door opened, and a young and tall doctor in a coat came in.

The doctor noticed Tang Hao standing next to the bed and anger flashed on his face. “What are you doing? Don’t you know that you shouldn’t touch the patient?” He chided.

He turned to see Zhao Qingxue also in the room and was shocked. “Why are you here too, Qingxue?” He blurted.

Suddenly, his eyes sparked to life, and his gaze upon Zhao Qingxue became passionate.

Chapter 157

“Doctor Zhang!” Zhao Qingxue greeted him. Her brows were slightly furrowed.

  “You’re here, Qingxue!”

Doctor Zhang walked over with a friendly smile on his face. He then turned to glance at Tang Hao. “Who is he, Qingxue? I’ve never seen him before,” he said somewhat unhappily.

“Do you have any common sense? You can’t touch the patient as you like! Stay away from her!” Doctor Zhang brusquely while pointing at Tang Hao.

Tang Hao furrowed his brows. He did not reply to the doctor but instead took several steps back.

“Doctor Zhang, I’ve invited him here to take a look at Lil Xin’er,” Zhao Qingxue said.

Doctor Zhang was surprised. “What’s there to look at?” He asked.

“He knows some medical skills,” Zhao Qingxue replied awkwardly.

Doctor Zhang burst out laughing when he heard that. “You must be joking, Qingxue! Look at him! How old can he be? He’s probably just a college freshman. What can he know?”

He thought that Zhao Qingxue was joking with him.

Zhao Qingxue furrowed her brows and looked unhappy. “I’m serious, Doctor Zhang. He knows medical skills!”

Doctor Zhang glanced at Tang Hao and chuckled. “He knows medical skills? What a joke! Don’t tell me he’s a Chinese physician!”

“I guess he counts as one!” Zhao Qingxue said.

Doctor Zhang’s face immediately darkened. “Ha! He’s a con artist! Qingxue, how can you trust unlicensed doctors like him? He must be here to scam you of your money. I’ve seen this happen too many times,” he said with a smirk.

“It’s my first time seeing such a young scammer though!” He said as he glared coldly at Tang Hao.

Zhao Qingxue frowned. “Don’t assume things, Doctor Zhang. He’s not a con artist.”

“Why are you siding with him, Qingxue? Are you muddled? Does he look like he’s a medical practitioner? Furthermore, you should know that this is leukemia we’re talking about, and there’s no cure for it. Why would you believe his lies?

“No matter how skillful a Chinese physician might be, he cannot cure leukemia!” Doctor Zhang tried to be helpful.

Then, he pointed a finger at Tang Hao and shouted angrily, “Get out of this room now! Otherwise, I’ll call the security!”

“Just let him take a look at the patient, Doctor Zhang!” Zhao Qingxue said frantically.

“You still believe in this scammer? Get out of this hospital now!” Doctor Zhang stepped toward Tang Hao as he yelled.

  “Wait!”

Zhao Qingxue ran in front of Tang Hao and blocked him.

Her body was inches away from Tang Hao.

“Don’t go. We’ll only leave after you’re done with your diagnosis!” She told Tang Hao.

Doctor Zhang’s eyes flashed with envy when he saw that.

His expression became ghastlier than ever. “What are you doing, Qingxue? This is a hospital!”

“You doctors can’t cure her anyway. Might as well let him treat her. There might still be hope!” Zhao Qingxue said coldly.

Doctor Zhang laughed out of anger. “Yes, we can’t cure her! But this is leukemia we’re talking about! Is there any doctor in this world that can cure it? Much less this unlicensed con artist?

“There’s no hope for Xin’er, but at least we can keep her alive for some time. If you let him treat Xin’er, I don’t think she’ll survive past two weeks. You’re harming Xin’er, Qingxue!” Doctor Zhang roared agitatedly.

Tang Hao finally opened his mouth.

“Doctor Zhang, right? Who says that leukemia can’t be cured? I can cure Xin’er!”

Doctor Zhang and Zhao Qingxue were stunned by his words.

Zhao Qingxue looked ecstatic. “Really?” She blurted.

“Yes! But I’m only about seventy percent confident though!” Tang Hao said.

“Seventy percent? Haha!” Doctor Zhang laughed out loud.

To him, that was the funniest joke in the world!

A kid of about eighteen said that he could treat leukemia? With a seventy percent confidence? Was that not a joke?

Everyone knew that leukemia, otherwise known as cancer of the blood, was very difficult if not impossible to cure.

‘What’s wrong with this kid? Is he crazy, or is he a brazen liar?’ Doctor Zhang thought to himself.

“That’s a good one, kid! You have thick skin! Alright, you just wait here while I get the security to throw you out of the hospital. If you dare step into the hospital again, I’ll throw you out just the same!” Doctor Zhang said fiercely.

Then, he stepped out of the hospital room and shouted toward the end of the corridor. “Get me the security guards!”

He returned to the room and smirked at Tang Hao.

Tang Hao was impassive. “You seem to have a biased opinion of me, Doctor Zhang!” He said calmly.

“Biased opinion? Aren’t you just a con artist?” Doctor Zhang said angrily.

“Do you know Senior Doctor Chen?” Tang Hao said.

“Senior Doctor Chen?” Doctor Zhang was surprised. He thought about it and recalled that there was only one senior doctor in the hospital whose surname was Chen. He was a famous neurologist.

“Of course I know him, he’s my senior too! What about it?” Doctor Zhang said.

“You can call him over, and he can judge if I’m a con artist!” Tang Hao said.

“Ha! Don’t tell me you know Senior Doctor Chen too!” Doctor Zhang laughed with disdain.

In his eyes, the kid must be bluffing. How would a con artist like him be acquainted with Senior Doctor Chen?

“Do you think that I won’t get him to come here? Alright, I’ll call your bluff! Let’s see what you can do when he’s here!”

Then, he stepped out of the room again and yelled, “Get me Senior Doctor Chen here! Tell him it’s urgent.”

“Tang Hao, do you really know Senior Doctor Chen?” She asked uneasily.

“Don’t worry! We’re more than acquaintances!” Tang Hao said calmly.

The two people were whispering to each other and looked very intimate. Doctor Zhang became angrier when he saw that.

He did not think that they were a couple, but he was envious anyway, looking at how close the two people were.

A few minutes later, footsteps were heard on the corridor.

Two security guards came into the room.

  “What happened, Doctor Zhang?”

“It’s good that you’re here. Quick! Throw this guy out! He’s a con artist!” Doctor Zhang said as he pointed at Tang Hao.

“What? A con artist?” The security guards became angry. They rolled up their sleeves as they walked toward Tang Hao.

Just then, they heard a voice coming from the corridor. “Who’s the con artist? What’s going on?”

That voice belonged to Senior Doctor Chen.

Soon, Senior Doctor Chen appeared at the door.

“Senior Doctor Chen! Don’t you know that there’s a con artist here? He’s very boastful too! He says that he knows how to cure leukemia. Don’t you find that funny?” Doctor Zhang said.

Senior Doctor Chen laughed when he heard that.

“What an interesting character! Is leukemia that easily treatable? Right, which one is it? I want to meet this joker myself!”

“That’s him!” Doctor Zhang roared and pointed at Tang Hao.

Senior Doctor Chen looked in the direction where Doctor Zhang pointed, and the smile on his face froze.

Chapter 158

“Di… Divine Doctor Tang!” Senior Doctor Chen blurted in extreme shock with an incredulous expression on his face.

He did not expect the so-called ‘con artist’ was actually Divine Doctor Tang!

Then, feeling ashamed of himself, his face turned bright red. He was prepared to laugh at the con artist who was going to make a fool of himself.

He was not a con artist at all! In fact, he was a divine doctor!

Doctor Zhang was stunned by Senior Doctor Chen’s reaction. He did not know what was going on.

‘Did Senior Doctor Chen call that kid a divine doctor? That’s impossible! Right, that ‘Divine Doctor’ must be what the kid calls himself.

‘It looks like the con artist is a regular here. Even Senior Doctor Chen knows him.’

His disdain grew as thoughts raced past his mind.

Suddenly, Senior Doctor Chen’s shocked expression turned into a smiling face. He stepped around Zhao Qingxue, then grabbed Tang Hao’s hand and shook it eagerly.

“Ah, Divine Doctor Tang! It’s been a long time since we last met! I’ve been thinking about you. I didn’t expect to see you here today! Haha! This must be fate!

“Leukemia… right? It’s very hard to cure indeed, and there’s almost no hope of recovery. However, I believe that if you, Divine Doctor Tang, can show us your skills, there should be no problem.”

Senior Doctor Chen laughed heartily as he continued shaking Tang Hao’s hand.

He was extremely excited at that moment.

There was no scientific explanation for Divine Doctor Tang’s skills. One could almost call them miracles.

The first time, he had used acupuncture to restore consciousness to a comatose person. That had already caused him to be shaken beyond belief. The second time was even more amazing: With acupuncture, he had pulled a dying old man back from death’s door and extended his life by three years.

The medical skills he had witnessed had exceeded his imagination.

This time, Divine Doctor Tang said that he was confident of curing leukemia, the cancer of the blood. He was incredibly excited to see what he could do.

Meanwhile, Doctor Zhang was utterly dumbfounded.

He stood on the spot. His eyes were lifeless and his mind was blank.

He could not believe what was going on in front of him.

‘Why would the senior doctor of a department, who is also incredibly famous, be so friendly toward a con artist? Unless… Senior Doctor Chen has also gone mad?

‘If he isn’t mad… why would he say something like that?’

Not only Doctor Zhang was confused. Even Zhao Qingxue was clueless about what was going on.

She stared at Senior Doctor Chen and found his words hard to believe.

‘Oh my god! Isn’t this Chen guy a famous doctor? Why is he so chummy with that Tang kid? He looks like he admires him too!’

Doctor Zhang finally came to his senses. “Senior Doctor Chen, you know this… con artist?” He asked with some difficulty.

Senior Doctor Chen furrowed his brows and replied seriously. “How can you say that, Lil Zhang? What do you mean by a con artist? This person here is an esteemed divine doctor.”

Doctor Zhang was stunned. His suspicion that Doctor Zhang had gone mad became even deeper. Otherwise, he would not have sided with that con artist.

“You must be confused, Senior Doctor Chen! This guy isn’t a Divine Doctor! How can he cure leukemia?” Doctor Zhang said urgently.

“Hah! Lil Zhang, you don’t know the extent of Divine Doctor Tang’s medical skills. You’ll admit that he’s a divine doctor once you have witnessed it with your eyes,” Senior Doctor Chen tried to convince Doctor Zhang.

“Do you remember that a while ago, the son of the previous Secretary got into a car accident and became comatose?”

“Yes, I remember that. Isn’t he cured?” Doctor Zhang said.

“Yes, he is. Do you know who cured him though?”

“Isn’t that you, Senior Doctor Chen?” Doctor Zhang answered doubtfully.

“Ha! That’s what is written in the official records. The truth is, Divine Doctor Tang had cured him with acupuncture. If you don’t believe that, you can ask the Hospital Director. The truth was reported to him back then.”

Doctor Zhang’s jaw dropped when he heard that.

“Not only that! There’s Old Master He too. Back then, Old Master He was suffering from a cranial hemorrhage and multiple organ failures. He was already on the brink of death, but Divine Doctor Tang saved him and extended his life for three years.”

Doctor Zhang was dumbstruck. He could not close his mouth.

‘How is that possible…?’ He stared at Tang Hao, trying to process the information.

If that was true, then what was the point of going through medical school just to be defeated by a kid of seventeen or eighteen?

  That was utterly ridiculous!

“I can understand how you’re feeling now, Lil Zhang. I didn’t believe it either when I first met Divine Doctor Tang. Now I’m a believer.

“Divine Doctor Tang’s medical skills are extraordinary. We’re no match for him!” Senior Doctor Chen said.

Doctor Zhang’s face was still sullen. He gritted his teeth and said, “All that might be true, but I don’t believe that he can cure Xin’er’s leukemia! She’s already in the late stage. There is no way in this world that she will be fully cured.”

“Well…” Senior Doctor Chen hesitated. He turned to look at Tang Hao.

“That’s true. Modern medical technology can’t cure her. However, there’s something in this world that exceeds the capabilities of medical science,” Tang Hao said calmly.

“If everything goes well, I can produce a remedy in three days. The seventy percent chance I said earlier is the success rate of producing the remedy. If the remedy is a success, then the probability of curing her is one hundred percent.”

Doctor Zhang smirked. “One hundred percent? That’s a pretty big claim! I don’t believe it!”

“You don’t believe it? We’ll see!” Tang Hao said coldly.

Doctor Zhang had been picking on him ever since they met. He had tolerated him out of respect that he was a doctor, but his patience had its limits.

“No! What happens if there’s a complication? As Xin’er’s doctor in charge, I can’t agree to that!” Doctor Zhang yelled.

“Hmph! I’ll bear all responsibility if any complications arise. It’s not like you can cure her anyway!” Tang Hao smirked.

“You…” Doctor Zhang was livid. His fists were clenched tightly.

“Hey, calm down, you young people! I’ll ask the opinion of the Director. Then, I’ll get Xin’er’s mother’s consent. If both of them agree, we will proceed,” Senior Doctor Chen said, then went out of the room to make a phone call to the hospital director.

Meanwhile, Zhao Qingxue made a phone call to Xin’er’s mother.

After explaining the situation to them, both the hospital director and Xin’er’s mother agreed to it.

“I’ll be producing the remedy then. I’ll inform you when I’m done!” Tang Hao said while giving Doctor Zhang a side-eye. He left the room with Zhao Qingxue.

“Are you confident about this, Tang Hao?” Zhao Qingxue asked apprehensively.

“Don’t worry! I’ll do my best!” Tang Hao replied calmly.

In fact, he was quite confident about it.

Leukemia was a disease of the blood. If blood was the problem, then the most direct remedy was to remove the bad blood and infuse new blood into the patient’s body. That would cure the disease at its source.

What medical sciences could not do, alchemy could.

Chapter 159

Two days passed in the blink of an eye.

Tang Hao had been researching the art of pill-making in those two days. Meanwhile, he had requested the help of Liu Dajun and the other bosses in gathering ingredients.

The pill that he was going to make was called the Blood Substitution Pill. Five out of the eighteen required ingredients were extremely rare and could not be easily found in the open market.

Fortunately, it was much easier to find what he wanted online and have them delivered. He could easily buy anything across the entire Huaxia.

Tang Hao had prepared ten portions of ingredients in two short days. That allowed for ten attempts.

He only needed one success out of the ten attempts.

That night, Tang Hao sat at the rooftop of the building and started making pills.

Tang Hao was considered a pill-making novice after having succeeded in making the Jade Bone Pill and the Qi Restoration Pill. However, he was still very far away from being considered a true practitioner.

In any case, he knew that he had to be patient in his research. There were no shortcuts in the art of pill-making.

He ignited the alchemical furnace and controlled the intensity of the flames, then inserted the ingredients one by one.

Once the ingredients were refined, the fusion process started.

“Boom!” An explosion was soon heard.

Smoke poured from the furnace and blackened Tang Hao’s face.

Tang Hao was a little frustrated. He composed himself and started the process again.

The process of making the Blood Substitution Pill was a lot more difficult than the Jade Bone Pill or the Qi Restoration Pill. Tang Hao’s face darkened, both literally and metaphorically, after each failure.

He failed eight times in a row.

Tang Hao took a break. He thought long and hard about his failures and analyzed every step, then started his ninth attempt.

This time, he took precautions at every step of the process, and the process went without a hitch.

Half an hour later, a pill was made.

He opened the lid of the alchemical furnace. A blood-red pill the size of a longan fruit was ejected from the furnace and landed in the middle of Tang Hao’s palm.

Tang Hao beheld the pill, then smiled contentedly.

Now that the pill was done, there was hope for Xin’er!

The next morning, Tang Hao sent Sis Xiangyi off at the door after breakfast. Then, he gave a call to Zhao Qingxue and Senior Doctor Chen.

After that, Tang Hao rode on the little three-wheeled motorcycle and went to the hospital.

He hopped off the little three-wheeled motorcycle at the entrance to the hospital and saw Senior Doctor Chen already waiting for him there. Behind him were many doctors, both young and old, in their white coats.

Every one of them looked at Tang Hao. Some of them looked doubtful, while others were excited.

In the past few days, the news of Divine Doctor Tang had spread throughout the entire hospital.

Everyone was actively discussing how the Divine Doctor was going to cure a little girl’s leukemia.

Most of the doctors did not believe it. They were there to observe the procedure while being suspicious of the so-called Divine Doctor.

“You’re finally here, Divine Doctor Tang!” Senior Doctor Chen stepped forward to shake Tang Hao’s hand.

Many other doctors also stepped forward to greet him.

Doctor Zhang stood at the back of the crowd, watching all that with a steely gaze.

‘Divine Doctor? I’d like to see you humiliated in front of everyone today!’ He thought as his lips narrowed into a mocking grin.

A short while later, a convoy of police cars came through the entrance. There were five or six of them.

The car doors opened and many police officers came out.

Tang Hao was surprised when he saw that. Not only Zhao Qingxue was here, but also Captain Zhou, Captain Gao, and even Commissioner Xia.

‘What a spectacle!’ Tang Hao thought.

“Lil Bro Tang!” Commissioner Xia greeted Tang Hao heartily as he came forth and shook his hand.

“Lil Bro Tang… Oh, no, I should call you Divine Doctor Tang here!”

“Don’t call me that, I guess you can just call me Doctor. The ‘Divine Doctor’ title is too grand for me!” Tang Hao smiled drily.

“You’re just being humble. I’ve already heard of what you did.”

Commissioner Xia smiled. “I’ll have to personally thank you this time. I’ve watched Xin’er grow up and I’ve treated her as my granddaughter. I feel so sorry to see her suffer!

“His father was a hero. He sacrificed himself while he fought with a criminal to save a crowd of people. All of us are concerned about Xin’er’s condition,” Captain Zhou said as he came forth to greet Tang Hao.

“You don’t have to thank me now. We can wait until she is cured!” Tang Hao said.

Commissioner Xia laughed. “You sound like you’re very confident!”

Tang Hao smiled but did not reply. However, his expression had given Commissioner Xia, Captain Zhou, and the other police officers a confidence boost.

Zhao Qingxue came over with a woman of about thirty years of age.

The woman looked sickly and tired. She was obviously overworked.

“Sis Wu, this is the Divine Doctor that I’ve been telling you,” Zhao Qingxue said to the woman as she pointed at Tang Hao.

That woman rushed forward and grabbed Tang Hao’s hand. “Can you cure my daughter, Divine Doctor?” She asked urgently.

Tang Hao grinned widely. “Don’t worry, you can leave it to me!”

The woman smiled with relief, though she still looked worried.

The Divine Doctor looked too young. She would not have entrusted her daughter’s life to him, if not that she had run out of options, and that Zhao Qingxue and even Commissioner Xia vouched for him.

  “Alright, we should begin!”

Tang Hao turned around and walked toward the hospital room.

Everyone followed behind. It was a majestic scene.

People who did not know what was going on might think that there was a sting operation!

Tang Hao, Senior Doctor Chen, and a few nurses entered the room, while the rest waited outside.

Lil Xin’er was sleeping soundly on the bed.

Tang Hao went next to the bed and retrieved two items from his bag. One was a small jade bottle, while the other was a glass vial filled with a dark red fluid.

Tang Hao opened the vial and fed Lil Xin’er a small amount of the liquid.

  That was an anesthetic.

The Blood Substitution Pill would cause great pain to the entire body. It was safer to anesthetize her first.

About two minutes later, Tang Hao opened the little jade bottle and took out the blood-red pill.

He opened Lil Xin’er’s mouth and placed the pill inside. Then, he channeled qi to dissolve the pill.

Tang Hao breathed a sigh of relief.

  “It’s done!” He said.

“What? That’s it?” Senior Doctor Chen could not believe it.

“That’s it! Now we’ll just have to sit around and wait for about half an hour!”

Tang Hao clapped his hands and sat down on a nearby chair.

Senior Doctor Chen also sat down and waited.

The nurses were clueless as they looked at each other. They sat down and waited.

About eight minutes later, a nurse pointed at the bed and exclaimed in surprise. “Everyone, look!”

Senior Doctor Chen jumped. He was dumbstruck when he saw what happened.

Lil Xin’er was still sleeping on the bed, while bright red blood oozed out of every pore of her body and stained the sheets.

“What’s going on?” Senior Doctor Chen was immediately worried.

“Don’t worry! That’s normal!” Tang Hao reassured them. “You’ll see the effects very soon.”

Blood pooled on the bed, and the nurses got up to wipe it away.

Another ten minutes or so passed before the blood stopped.

The nurses cleaned up Lil Xin’er’s body. When they looked closely at her, they exclaimed in surprise.

Lil Xin’er was originally sickly and pale. However, her face was now flushed with color and even looked slightly plump.

They looked at the skin on her body and found that color had also returned to her body.

“Oh my god… this is a miracle!”

Senior Doctor Chen trembled with excitement.

Chapter 160

Everyone in the room exclaimed in surprise.

Senior Doctor Chen and the nurses were extremely emotional.

“Miracle! This is a miracle!” Senior Doctor Chen muttered incredulously.

There was no other word to describe the scene in front of him, other than a miracle.

Lil Xin’er’s complexion was no different than a normal, healthy girl.

He felt as though he was in a dream. Was that really leukemia, the cancer of the blood, which made people shudder when they heard its name?

The Divine Doctor cured it in half an hour, just by feeding the patient a pill!

  That was too amazing!

“You’re incredible, Divine Doctor Tang!” Senior Doctor Chen said emotionally as he grabbed Tang Hao’s hands.

The nurses also regarded Tang Hao with newfound respect.

Tang Hao smiled. “Don’t be too emotional, Senior Doctor Chen. Let me perform another examination on Lil Xin’er.”

“Yes, yes!” Senior Doctor Chen immediately let go of his hands.

Tang Hao stepped next to the bed, then gently pressed two fingers on Lil Xin’er’s wrist. After a while, he breathed a sigh of relief.

“Alright, there’s no more problems!” Tang Hao smiled. “Lil Xin’er’s body is still weak. She just needs some nourishment and she’ll be out of the hospital in no time.”

“You’re amazing, Divine Doctor Tang! You’ve once again blown away my expectations!” Senior Doctor Chen said heartily.

Meanwhile, the atmosphere in the corridor outside the room was heavy and tense.

The doctors and the police officers waiting outside were starting to become impatient. They frequently looked at the closed door.

“It’s already half an hour!” Someone in the crowd mumbled as they looked at their watch.

“I don’t believe that he can cure leukemia!” Doctor Zhang smirked as he leaned against the wall and looked toward the door.

“I don’t believe it either. Cure leukemia by feeding a pill? That’s nothing but a fairy tale!” Another doctor chimed in.

  “Right! That’s just too far-fetched!”

  Many doctors agreed with them.

The police officers started to become apprehensive when they heard the doctors’ discussion.

Just then, the door opened and Tang Hao stepped out.

The corridor immediately exploded with activity.

“How is it, Divine Doctor Tang?” Everyone asked as they crowded around him.

“Calm down, everyone!” Tang Hao said loudly as he waved his hands. “Everything went fine! Xin’er’s leukemia is cured!”

Everyone breathed a sigh of relief when they heard that. Soon, cheers erupted.

Wu Lingfang, Xin’er’s mother, was crying tears of joy.

Doctor Zhang felt a shiver run down his spine. He stood stiffly on the spot.

“How is that possible?” He tried to process the news as his face gradually turned ashen.

“I don’t believe it! It’s leukemia we’re talking about! How is it so easily cured? Are you sure that you’ve cured it? We still need to run some tests!” He roared savagely.

The cheers immediately ceased. The atmosphere in the corridor was once again heavy.

“Right, how can it be so easily cured? This must be a scam!” Many doctors concurred.

Senior Doctor Chen came out of the room and said, “You can go into the room and witness for yourself if you don’t believe it. We can run the tests later and see who’s right!”

“Right! We’ll have to look at the patient first! Then run some tests!”

The group of doctors rushed into the room. The older doctors were more nervous than the young ones.

They were all dumbstruck when they rushed next to the bed and looked at the patient closely.

They had seen the patient with their eyes half an hour ago. She looked thin and sickly. Just half an hour later, she had undergone a huge transformation. Her face was flushed with color, and she looked perfectly healthy.

“Oh my god! This is incredible!” The old doctors exclaimed in surprise.

Doctor Zhang squeezed past the crowd to see. He was immediately shocked and stood there like a block of wood.

His face turned pale in an instant. His body shook and wavered as though he was a leaking balloon, and he almost fell sitting down.

“How could it be…” He mumbled in a daze.

“Quick! Push her into the laboratory!”

Very quickly, the doctors came to their senses and rushed to work. They pushed Lil Xin’er out of the room to perform some tests.

The test results were soon released. Lil Xin’er was proven to be completely cured of leukemia, and she was on her way to full recovery.

“This is a miracle!” The doctors exclaimed as they pored through the test results. The police officers breathed a collective sigh of relief, then cheered happily.

“You’re a Divine Doctor! This is the first time I’ve seen something like this in my many years of being a doctor!”

“What medicine did you use, young man? Are you interested in presenting at a conference?”

The doctors jostled among each other to shake hands with Tang Hao.

All their previous suspicions were gone, and they were now thorough believers of Tang Hao’s skills. They also understood that they could not scientifically explain Divine Doctor Tang’s medical skills.

Wu Lingfang, Xin’er’s mother, came over and was about to kneel in front of Tang Hao.

Tang Hao urgently propped her up. “Please don’t! I’m not worthy!”

Wu Lingfang was crying tears of joy. “Thank you so much, Divine Doctor! I don’t know how to repay you! I don’t have much money left, but I can still work to pay you the money as soon as I can.”

“There’s no need!” Tang Hao said urgently, “I don’t need the money. Xin’er’s father is a hero who sacrificed himself in the line of duty. I can’t take your money!”

  “But…”

“Aahh, don’t worry about it!” Tang Hao exchanged glances with Zhao Qingxue.

Zhao Qingxue understood what he meant. She pulled Wu Lingfang over to one side and said, “Let’s go look at Xin’er, Sis Wu.”

Senior Doctor Chen and the veteran doctors held Tang Hao back to chat with him.

Tang Hao finally extricated himself and prepared to leave.

  “Hey! Wait!”

He was at the staircase when he heard Zhao Qingxue calling him from behind.

Zhao Qingxue quickly rushed up to meet him.

She was in her police uniform today. She was less charming but more gallant and still as beautiful as ever.

  “What’s wrong?” Tang Hao said.

Zhao Qingxue’s gaze at Tang Hao was slightly different than before.

He had always thought that the guy was a lecher. However, her opinion about him seemed to have changed. He was not as bad as she thought!

Perhaps he did not do it on purpose back then!

She blushed when she thought about that.

“What’s wrong, Officer Zhao?” Tang Hao regarded her curiously.

“Ah!” Zhao Qingxue came to her senses. She looked slightly flustered. “It’s… It’s nothing! I just wanted to thank you!”

Tang Hao smiled and said coolly, “Don’t mention it! You can contact me again if you need my help!

“Ah, right! Officer Zhao, that’s how you should wear it!” Before he left, Tang Hao looked at her chest and said seriously.

Then, he walked down the stairs.

Zhao Qingxue’s face was bright red as she stood there.

She did not understand how the guy managed to discern it.

  ‘Unless… it’s really that obvious?’

She lowered her head to look at her chest, and her face became redder than ever.
