Chapter Fifty-Four . . .Pre-Baby Talk
Cat's POV
I hummed a little lullaby as I folded up all the clothes baby Raya got from the shower and put them in her drawer in her bedroom.
My phone began ringing and I quickly picked it up to answer it.
"Hello?" I answered as I stuck the phone between my shoulder and my ear.
"Hey Cat, it's me Allie. I'm at the house, do you think I can come in?"
I looked around the mess I made and bit my lip.
"If you don't mind helping me clean a little bit."
"I'll be up in a minute." She said before hanging up.
I chuckled as I hung my own phone and continued to fold the tiny little clothes.
"Hey." Allie greeted.
I lifted my head up with a smile, but it dropped once I took a look at her pale face and dark circles around her eyes.
"Jesus Allie, what happened to you?"
She frowned and laid on the ground next to the pile of clothes I was folding.
"I had a rough night."
"Are you . . . hungover?" I asked as I took in her appearance once again.
She shook her head at me.
"No, I mean I had a couple of drinks but nothing to get me wasted." She lifted her head up. "I did meet a very nice guy though." She winked at me and it caused me to chuckle.
"What about that Jonathon guy?"
She sighed and shook her head as she sat up.
"Nah, he's not for me. Too jealous for my liking."
I couldn't help but grin at her complaints.
"It isn't funny." She said pushing out her bottom lip.
"I'm sorry, it's just you are so quiet around the office and it's like once you're out and about you become this free little bird." I joked.
She scratched the back of her neck and let out a little nervous chuckle.
"You know, Ryan has been talking about you a lot."
Her head shot up immediately and a small pink blush appeared on her cheeks.
"I know. Michael and Geoff don't let me hear the end of it. Plus he's always asking me out to lunch."
I sat up straighter suddenly more interested than I was before.
"Did you go?" I asked excitedly.
Allie paused before shaking her head.
"WHAT!" I yelled which cause baby Raya to jump in my belly.
I quickly put a hand on my stomach to soothe her.
"You okay?" Allie asked, looking as if she's ready to call 911
"No, I'm not. You and Ryan are perfect together. Go to lunch with him!" I commanded and she smiled sadly.
"He wouldn't find me interesting."
I sighed frustratingly and rubbed my temples.
"I swear you people are going to put me into labor." I said to myself.
"CAT!" Gavin's voice called from down the steps.
I looked at Allie who was already on her feet.
"I'll go." She turned towards the door, but I stopped her before she could leave.
"Allie, give Ryan a chance. You never know what will happen." I looked down at my stomach and back to her, "I sure didn't."
She smiled before leaving the room just as Gavin entered.
"Hey." He came around the pile of clothes and kissed me.
"Hey, how was work?" I asked and he shrugged.
"Okay. Geoff keeps saying how we should move back in."
I lifted my hands to Gavin and he took them and helped me to my feet. "You know, technically we didn't move out. Our stuff is still there." I pointed out and Gavin smiled.
"I tried telling him that, but he wouldn't listen." He put his hands on my belly and came eye-level to it. "How's my little Raya today?" He asked in a sweet voice.
"Well, she's been sleeping for awhile until I woke her up with my yelling."
Gavin stood straight up and a look of panic and concern filled his face, "Why were you yelling? Is something wrong?"
I chuckled and shook my head. "No. I was just yelling at Allie about Ryan."
Gavin rolled his eyes. "Ryan will not shut up about her, and he's so moody too!"
"I swear I'm going to have to lock those two in a room together."
Gavin chuckled and buried his head in the crook of my neck.
"God, have I missed you."
I ran my fingers through his hair. "I missed you too."
He pulled his head out of my neck and smiled. "You want to go for a walk or something?" He offered.
I nodded. "You can walk and I'll waddle."
We walked out of the house and outside to the cool air of Texas.
Gavin swung his arm around my shoulders. "So are we ready for baby Raya?" He asked suddenly.
"I am. Are you?" I looked over at him and he was smiling proudly.
"I am. I honestly can not wait for her to come into this world. I want to see what she looks like. I bet she looks just like you."
"Seriously? Why not like you?" I asked.
"Because you are the most beautiful woman I have ever seen."
Honestly, a part of me wanted to roll my eyes but the other part wanted to go into a hot make-out session with him.
I refrained from both and instead stayed silent.
"I do hope she's as smart as me." Gavin added.
I busted out into a fit of laughter.
"Wot? Wot's so funny?" He asked confused.
"I don't want our child out in this world looking for headlight fluid."
His face became red and I laughed harder, he was so cute.
"She won't. She'll be smart."
"We can get her a little slow mo outfit!" I awed and he nodded.
"We can put her in a video too!"
I smiled at the thought of my little slow mo baby in a slow mo guys video.
"I'm glad you are excited about Raya." I admitted suddenly.
It through him off, but he smiled.
"Me too."
I yawned loudly and Gavin pulled me closer.
"Why don't we go back? You're exhausted, love."
I nodded in agreement and we turned around.
"You know we won't be able to do this after she's born." He said.
"Yeah we will. We will just put her in a stroller." He grinned.
"I don't think I want her out of the house." I admitted and her squeezed my shoulder gently.
"Look at the mama bear." He teased.
I gently pushed him away.
"I'm not kidding there's a lot of bad in this world. Especially with us being on the Internet. I just don't want her to get hurt."
"Cat, she's going to get hurt sometime, no matter what you do. You can put her in a bubble and she would still end up scraping her knee. She is my kid after all."
I sighed.
"I know. I just . . . Maybe I'm not ready for her to come out."
"Well, we only have a week, and I think we're running out of time." He winked at me. "Catherine, you are going to be an amazing mother, and our daughter is going to be the coolest baby the world has ever seen."
"And you are going to be an amazing dad." I leaned up on my toes and kissed him before walking ahead.
Once I took a couple of steps I realized that Gavin wasn't following me.
I turned around and saw him frozen in his spot, thinking.
I waddled back to him and poked his shoulder, but he didn't budge.
"What's wrong?" I asked concerned.
His eyes reached mine.
"So Geoff is her grandfather, and Ray is her uncle, and I'm sure Michael and the other guys are going to be in her life . . . " He trailed off.
"Yeah? What's wrong with that?" I asked.
"Can you imagine what her first word is going to be!"

Hey guys! Sorry for the slight delay a couple of things have been going on health wise and I've been taking it a little easy. Before I go on any further I would like to say that Monty Oum was the most creative person I have ever seen. I was never really into the anime or anything cartoony but his work was amazing and I was sucked in along with his story line. It was very hard on not only me but the RT community to hear about his death. I hope that his family his doing well and I pray for their strength during this difficult time.
