It was late morning on a cold winter day in [xxx] city. Katie Brown, a 17 year old high school student, with her parents was waiting for a taxi which was to take them to the train station.
Every year during winter they would go back to their home town to visit thier relatives. Relatives only by blood and nothing else. Or at least that's how it was to Katie. They were barely connected via calls and yet every year they would go for a little more than a month. She didn't have any connection with any of them, except one of her cousin. But this visits were very annoying and pointless to her. The only plus point is was the clearier sky and the comfortable cold. It wasn't so harsh there. 'That's probably the reason why we actually go there.' Katie thought.
Soon the taxi arrived and took them to the station. They got on the train and got comfortable. The ride was 20 hours long.
Time skip to their town house:
Katie' s Pov:
"Suger, can you arrange the chairs and tables? I am doing the beds. " My mother called out.
"Just a moment. Let me do the curtains then I will get to it." The train ran 4 HOURS LATE and instead of afternoon, we reached at early evening.
And having such a heavy lunch by the station was a bad idea. I am getting a little sleepy....
After reaching home, my father went to the market to get the essentials while my mother and I were cleaning and settling the house. It's a tedious process to clean a house that has been closed for almost a year. There is dust and cobwebs everywhere. Then opening up the furnitures and taking out the kitchen ware is such a hassle.
I need to start with the backyard tomorrow... This is too much! It looks like a forest! Who would say that it's a backyard? I like green but not like this!... I really don't like these visits....
The entire evening went on with the three of us cleaning and arranging the house. Mom had prepared the simplest dinner but after the tiring work, it was heavenly. Sleep, after such a long journey and hard work, came easy.
