"will stop tapping!"

halt glared at his apprentice who glanced at him then turned back to continue counting the raindrops. his fingers never paused. halt scowled turning away to get another cup of coffee will heard him mutter something about disrespect elders and revenge. why was it always revenge? 

tug and Abelard chose that moment to send a warning whinny. will jumped down from where he had been seated on the small table and rushed to open the door. halt watched amused at the sudden change in his apprentice he must have seen whoever was coming by the looks of his excited state. 

sure enough the door opened to admit Alyss what halt wasn't suspecting however was the tall couriers mentor who entered as well. he nearly dropped his coffee at how the white dress plastered to the beautiful lady and her white streaked blond hair had fallen out and clung to her neck. he realized they where speaking

"..had the day off so we thought we might pop in if that's alright" 

will grinned and moved to take alyss and Pauline's cloaks and hang them by the fire to dry. halt realized he hadn't moved in this time and that he was wearing his cloak in the chill air so the couriers probably hadn't noticed him yet. probably. that hope was dashed however as the girls turned to him 

"do you always stand and hope to remain unnoticed?" Pauline asked amused halt cleared his throat awkwardly he felt a slow heat come over his cheeks will saved him however before he could open his mouth to say something really intelligent like 'uh dur'.

"alyss you want to play another game of chess?"

alyss grinned her eyes lighting up 

"your on there is no way your winning this time"

will scoffed "that's what you said the last time we played and the time before that admit it i'm better than you!" 

alyss's eyes narrowed "i still think you cheated how does someone with only 3 pieces against my 10 win!"

"your just being a bad sport!"

"i know you cheated though"

"its only cheating if you get caught overwise its good tactics!"

"so you admit it"

"never"

"halt you watched the games did you see him cheat?"

"uh..."

"see he didn't which means its just good tactics"

they glared at each other both unwilling to back down the 2 older people just looked back and forth between them until Pauline piped up

"his right alyss in war or a battle sly and tricky moves can be invaluable especially if the enemy has no idea what's really going on"

alyss shot will one dirty look then relented

"fine but no more cheating this round its annoying"

will shrugged "okay I'll still win"

"will not"

"one way to find out"

the adults decided to move away from the warzone for slightly different reasons halt because he had seen them play and knew it would be at least 3-4 hours of constant bickering insults and curses. Pauline because she wanted to be near the fire and a cup of coffee.

it was just another rainy day:)
