Chapter twenty one

Start from the beginning

I head over to Luna who is standing next to Neville in the corner. "Hey, Luna!" I hurry over to her and engulf her in a tight hug, Neville right after.

"Happy birthday!" She chimes.

"Yeah, happy birthday y/n." Neville adds with a shy smile. Even though we've been close friends for almost four years, he's still quite shy around me, but I learned that that's just Neville being Neville. He's not quite as quiet when talking about Herbology though, and that's not very often.

"Thank you." I reply with a smile.

"Oh, y/n, looks like Diggory wants you." Luna adds, glancing over my shoulder. I follow her gaze to the tall brunette boy that wears a cheerful grin. I look back at her. "Well, go on. I think he likes you." She adds with an encouraging expression.

"Oh no, we're just friends. I'm dating Fred." I mention.

"Oh, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to make it weird." She apologizes, holding a worried expression.

"It's alright. I'll see you two later?" I ask. They nod in response before I turn around and head towards Cedric, who leans on the middle wall of the room. "Hey." I greet him, with a kind smile.

"Hey. You look, amazing." He says.

"Shut up Diggory." I reply with a grin, punching him playfully in the arm. He lightly chuckles under his breath as a light blush forms on his cheeks.

"Would you like a drink?" He asks.

"Sure." I reply, shrugging my shoulders. He hands me a red solo cup and I take a sip, making a face immediately. "What is that?" I ask, still recovering from the stinging in my throat.

"No idea." He takes a step closer and lowers his head to my ear. "The Ravenclaws picked the lock to Snape's office, stole it from his desk." He whispers.

As he pulls away, I glance to the side and make eye contact with the blonde boy's glare. His grey eyes pierce right through mine as he leans against the opposite wall, his hands in his pockets. He wears a black button-up, black pants, and dress shoes with his hair messy across his forehead. I narrow my eyes and break the connection, returning to Cedric. I take another swig before talking again.

"You know that he's going to notice, right?" I ask.

"Oh, I know, but they said they already took care of it so, we're in the clear." He answers with a joyful grin.

I walk back over to Hermione and everyone else, trying not to stumble on the way there. As I make it next to Fred, I trip over my feet, causing him to catch me in his arms. "Y/n, what-" He starts before looking at my expression. "How many drinks have you had." He asks, holding onto me by my torso as I place my hand on his chest, and snuggle my head into his shirt.

"I don't know, one...two...five..." I answer, my voice being muffled by his shirt, letting out a giggle.

"Where'd you even get it?" He asks, looking down at me. I pull my head from him and meet his concerned gaze.

"Don't tell anyone but-" I stop and look around dramatically as if checking to make sure no one was listening. "The Hufflepuffs got it from the Ravenclaws. They picked the lock for Snape's office and stole it out of his desk. That's probably how he deals with all of his problems." I whisper. He takes a deep breath as I laugh uncontrollably to the point of tears.

"Alright, we should probably get you to bed." He adds, taking my hand as I stumble again. He glances back at me for a second, tilting his head, before picking me up bridal style and starting to walk towards the doors. I wrap my arms around his neck as I snuggle my head into him, being overwhelmed by the amazing scent of his cologne.

Before I know it, his hands loosen around me, and he places my body onto the soft surface of my bed. "Would you like me to stay?" He asks in a soft, gentle tone.

"Yes." I mutter, pulling the fuzzy blanket over myself.

"You still have my blanket I see." He adds in a whisper as he lays down next to me. I quietly giggle and move closer to him, our bodies melting together effortlessly. "Goodnight darling." He whispers before kissing my forehead and flipping the switch to my lamp, filling the room with darkness.

The next morning

I open my eyes to a blinding ray of sun shining through my sheer curtains. I sit up and immediately notice my head throbbing continuously. I groan and place my hands over my eyes, shielding them from the bright light. "Remind me never to drink again." I mumble.

"Noted." Fred replies from the other side of the bed, snickering a bit as I groan again. I glare at him with squinted eyes, my hand still pressed against my forehead like a sun visor.

"Not funny." I say, trying to keep a stern face, but instead, we both break out in laughter. "Oh, shit what time is it?" I ask, trying to focus my eyes on the clock.

"8:45?! Shit, I didn't know it was that late." He says in a slightly panicked tone.

"Crap, none of my shirts are clean." I mention as I rummage through my drawers.

"Here, just wear this." He insists, tossing me his folded up sweater.

"Are you sure?"

"Yeah, I can grab another one from my dorm quickly while you change." He adds, turning the knob to the door. "I'll be back." The door shuts, and I snatch the last clean skirt from my drawer, of course being the one that Ginny 'fixed' in her words.

Great.

I slip on my short, black skirt, and pull Fred's large sweater over my head. I hurry into the bathroom to quickly throw on some makeup, brush my teeth, and pull my slightly knotted hair into a messy bun.

As I reach for my bag, the door knocks quickly. I rush over and open it up.

He looks me up and down rapidly. "It looks better on you than me." He says with a smirk. I roll my eyes playfully and snatch his hand, a blush appearing across my cheeks.

"Come on, we're going to miss breakfast." I state, pulling him forwards in the direction of the common room.

We make it downstairs and into the Great Hall in just over five minutes surprisingly. That must be a new record. We take our usual seats, slightly out of breath, and watch our plates fill up with delicious smelling food. "Why are you guys so late?" Ron asks, taking a bite of his jelly smeared toast.

"Lost track of time I guess." Fred answers, shaking pepper onto his pile of eggs.

"Really? Both of you?" He questions suspiciously.

"Uh- yeah." I reply, glancing up at Fred with wide eyes.

"Who's sweater is that?" Harry asks, analyzing me with a confused look.

I clear my throat awkwardly. "So, um- Hermione when is that potions project due?" I ask, changing the subject quickly.

"Friday I believe. I'm going to triple check with Snape just in case, I'll keep you updated." She replies, her eyebrows going back down to her natural position.

"Ohh...good luck with that." I respond.

"Yeah, I'm gonna need it." She adds with a nervous chuckle.

I glance back at Fred, who's eyes are already on me. I send him a confused look, but all he does is wink at me with a smirk. I grin and slowly shake my head, but am quickly interrupted by the sound of the bell echoing throughout the large space. 9:00. And with that, we were off to Herbology.
